The E39 M5: A Car That Deserves Some Love
I haven't really done anything performance-wise to it, uh I did a muffler delete so it sounds amazing, I love this car so much that I thought it's time to do something absolutely nuts. I know a lot of you guys subscribed just for the E39 M5. This is a VT1 560 ESS Supercharger, so I'm going to get 560 horsepower out of this V8. So, a little bit of specs for you - we're going to get 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, which is the rated time. Four Mile in 11.6, so this thing will be able to run with basically a new F10 M5, which is pretty exciting.
The design of the vortex supercharger, a lot of the kits depending upon whether it's ESS or VF doesn't really matter, they use a similar type of design. So, let's open the engine bay - it's already got a beautiful engine bay. I love the way it looks but it's going to be a hell of a lot cooler with a supercharger in it. As most of you know, 4.9 L V8 naturally aspirated 400 horsepower - it's going to get to 560 this gets replaced supercharger is going to go on here and it's full bolt-on plug-and-play. You don't have to do any cutting or modifying of the internals whatsoever, just attach everything.
I'm going to be helping install it with my buddy Gary, who's mechanic should be awesome. Part of the reason why I even decided to do this is my damn friend Gary over there with the LP560 Spider decided one day, hey, I'm going to put a supercharger on my car because he wanted his to be faster than Candace. Well now, it's going to have 780 horsepower and be way the hell faster than a stock first-gen Gallardo. I thought you know what, screw it; we're buying a supercharger for the M5 giving it some love.
I'll be honest, I was thinking about selling it for a brief period of time - had three cars, this is a first-world problem, but it's hard to give each one equal love and I just wasn't getting to drive the M5 very much. I kind of wanted to give somebody else the opportunity to experience this because it is a truly brilliant car, but I drove it a few more times; then decided, screw that, I'm going to keep it now we're putting a supercharger on it, and certainly, going to be a hell of a lot of fun on a closed course. Of course, uh I raced Eddie's Boss 302 against the E39 M5 - the M5 is a little bit slower; doesn't matter, the speed it pulls, the Boss 302 pulls on it a little bit but I'm expecting this will probably beat the out of Eddie's car when it's fully modified.
Who knows maybe Eddie will have to cry and sell his car because it's too slow or make it uh twin turbo and go crazy. Let's go over some of the parts here - this is um the exhaust; it's you know those diesel cars that roll coal, so we've got a modification this goes off of the strut through the hood blows black smoke out adds at least 40 extra horsepower. They gave us some ESS badging; what I want to do is uh sorry ESS not put this on my car; I want to keep it look visually 100% stock, so that when someone goes oh, that's cool, I love the E39 M5 would you like to race me in my Scat Pack and then I destroy them that will be awesome. Got some other parts here; uh this is uh the catalytic converter an extra 150 horsepower made by Kum so got that going.
Gary got new seat inserts for his LP560, 2500 dollars all new leather; he also got it on the door panels - I'm jealous as hell. I am literally a sucker for quilted leather like you have a Prius for sale quilted leather I probably want it so he's got that on this. I'm not going to touch the interior of the M5; really like the way it looks stock, but there you go.
