bookstores, book signings, and book shopping 📚

I just got back from a really fun weekend at home and I wanted to share it with you all so I'm doing this little video where I'll tell you about everything that happened and what I bought during my weekend.

So, for starters, I went to the bookstore and we visited a used bookstore and they had some great books on sale and I just really want to read them because I really want to read them and I want to read them with other people because I want to be able to discuss it so yeah very excited about this and I hope I end up loving it. And the next three books are the ones I picked up at the used bookstore that we visited and the first two I have are these special Collector's Editions of Tender as the Night and The Side of Paradise by F Scott Fitzgerald. I just really love like these leatherbound even though they might not actually be real leatherbound not positive they don't seem like it copies of classic novels. I wish I could have an entire library that just was made up of books that looked like this that is my actual life goal and these were beautiful and I have not read either one of these books but I have always wanted to so I thought they were so inexpensive they were like $3 each so I thought they'd make a good addition to my collection. They were in really great condition and they match so yes I'm very excited about these.

I love going to used bookstores so much, it's just such a fun experience because they're always so cheap and it's just H it's so much fun. So yeah very happy to have these. And then the final book I got from the used bookstore is Volume One of Umi Neusa Valley of the Wind. I didn't realize that they had like actually made this into a manga like serialized it but I just love this movie, you all know how much I love the Studio JBL movies and Nosa is one of my favorite ones, actually and I just really like it. I like collecting art books in general and so I just really wanted to have it again super inexpensive so felt like a nice find so decided to pick this up for my collection. Okay.

And then lastly I have two more books to share with you, I finally picked up Volume Five of Heart Stopper. I still hadn't gotten a copy of this yet and I am so excited to have it, I'm so excited to read it, like I said I have been feeling more motivated to pick things up and that has been in part because I have been buying a few things that I've been anticipating and this is one of them. This is one of the things I think I'll read probably first because it's easier to get through a graphic novel sometimes when you're in a reading slump and I have just been anticipating this for so long, so yes so excited about this. And also so excited for the next season of this show to come out, I think that this is the final volume right, like someone told me if I'm wrong, I don't know if that's certain but I know that it was supposed to be the last volume I'm not sure if that's changed since I last checked but if it is the last one, it'll be Bittersweet. But hopefully it'll be a great ending.

And finally I bought uh Volume One even though I have ordered the other volumes they're just not here yet, but I did get Volume One of A Sign of Affection which I mentioned in my last video, is probably my favorite TV show I've watched this year, favorite anime I've seen this year, and just a new favorite anime in general. Oh my God, I love this anime, I have read the first volume so I did read a book, so thank you, you can clap but yes I did read this, I love it. I then almost immediately ordered the rest of the volumes that are currently out because I need to binge the whole series, I love this series so much, it's so cute, such good romance, so wholesome, just so light-hearted and happy and I highly recommend it if you're interested in reading manga or if you want to watch a new anime, you have to pick this one up. It's so so good, I haven't been this into an anime since like Fruits Basket or Yona of the Dawn, like I don't know that it's on par with those for me yet, but I am that into it, so highly recommend you absolutely have to read this if you're into romance anime.

going out activities this past weekend and I wanted to share them all with you so I decided to film a little Vlog put together some clips I took of my past couple days and bring you along with me as I while since I'd been to a book signing and also since I had gone book shopping I haven't bought any books at all so far this year until this month so it felt like the right time to share that with you all and I think this has motivated me to finally start getting back into reading so we've got a bookstore Vlog book signing Vlog and also a mini book haul of the books that I bought at the end of this video as well so stick around to the end if you want to see everything I picked up throughout the weekend like I said it had been a while since I had gone out to an event like this or just gone out in general really I'm pretty much a home body most of the time whenever I go out to events and things I always like to make sure that I take care of myself before and afterwards and just in general take for the familiar today which I'm really really excited about it's been years since I have been to one of her signings to get the book oh yeah that's a good call so that's kind of what inspired this but I feel like doing some bookish activities will help motivate me to read a little bit so that's the goal that's the plan I'm just going to take you along with me today as we do all of our bookish things and then um tonight we're getting dinner with some friends I just like vlogging and being pretty casual so that's what we're doing today I have like a cute little outfit on for the book signing cuz I like getting dressed up for book signings cuz I don't have a reason to get dressed up for anything else I got the books yay to bring it which ones are you getting signed okay so I decided to do the third one only because I have the second and the third in hardback and the first in paperback and I'm doing this one even though it's in paperback because it is my favorite this one you also have like the original cover which they don't make these anymore which is really nice so yes she's special I'm really excited I think it's going to be fun I'm excited to read that book The Familiar um it's one of my most anticipated releases of the year so it sounds so good genuinely yeah let's head out we're going to go um to a bookstore first couple bookstores first yeah then another bookstore then during the actual book signing they did not let me film me seeing Lee uh which was a little sad but it was a really nice conversation she remembered me which was really sweet and uh we got to talk for because of me and that was like one of the the first books she read off of my recommendation so it was a really nice like full circle moment for our friendship as well so I had a great time it was lots of fun and it was fantastic meeting some of you there too so thank you to everyone who said hi but yeah it was great I always love going to book signings so much and then I go and I'm like I have to go to more of these cuz it's such a good experience it always makes me feel so happy and connected to the community and also really motivated uh to read and write so yeah it was all around fantastic and I had a great time but like I said I did pick up a few books um throughout this weekend slash this week a few books that you saw in the video um obviously the one from the book signing but a couple more too so I have a few books to show you so let's get into this little mini book haul so starting off with the one that you all kind of know about already obviously I got the familiar by Lee bardugo at the book signing so I'm very excited to read this listening to her talk about it made me even more interested in it because I honestly didn't know anything about it I saw her name on the title I saw the cover and I was like I need to read it so I'm going to pick it up so excited to try this out also it just has a really beautiful cover and I am obsessed like obsessed obsessed with these end papers there are pomegranates all over it and that is my favorite fruit so yes very excited about this and I hope it lives up to my expectations next up another book that you saw in the Vlog as well was one that I had never heard anything about I saw this in the bookstore I read the back of it and it was just so fascinating to me I had to buy it so this was complete impulse purchase I've genuinely never heard a single reviewer ever seen this book anywhere so hopefully it ends up being like a Hidden Gem and that is I keep my exoskeletons to myself by Marissa crane this is a dystopian novel and lately I have just really been getting back into dystopian over the past like year or so and I want to read some more new dystopian novels so this felt like a good book to pick up but I will just read you the very top of the summary on the back just so that you can see the thing that Drew me into this it says in a United States not so unlike our own the department of balance has adopted a radical new form of law enforcement rather than incarceration wrongdoers are given a second chance and sometimes third for and fifth Shadow as a reminder of their crime and a warning to those they encounter within the department corruption and Prejudice run rampant giving rise to an underclass of so-called shaders who are disenfranchised publicly shamed and deprived of civil rights protections that sounds incredible it sounds so fascinating so interesting to me and I really really hope this book lives up to the expectations I now have for it the summary on the back also Compares some of the writing style to Ocean bong which sold immediately I didn't even need the rest of it to be honest but yeah I'm really excited about this it sounds fantastic I hope it's as good as it sounds but yes again if you have read this if you've heard anything about it let me know but I'm really hoping I have found a secret Hidden Gem that I end up falling utterly in love with cuz I am in desperate need of a fantastic five-star read so I'm hoping this one ends up being one okay the next book I picked up at one of the book stores I hadn't shown it in the video yet but this is a new release that I'm also really excited about and that is to to gaze upon Wicked Gods by Molly X Chang this book I have not seen that much about it the only thing I have seen is people comparing it to zutara like the romance they were saying it's like zutara coded I think I saw the author say that herself so I followed her on Instagram and I was like okay sold I'm reading your book so hopefully it ends up living up to that but I'm really excited about it it's a fantasy novel It Is blurbed by Cassandra CLA and Laney Taylor and Rebecca Ross on the back so they all have fantasy books I really love it's seems Vibe wise like the type of fantasy book that I'd be into so I'm really excited to try it out hopefully I end up really loving it I am considering picking this as my May fable book club book I'm planning on doing a poll on that soon so people can have some input on what they want to read we ended up skipping April but we will go back to reading a book in May um and I'm considering this as one of our choices because I really want to read it and I want to read it with other people because I want to be able to discuss it so yeah very excited about this and I hope I end up loving it and then
