THIS is the FUTURE of PACKAGE DELIVERY

DHL's Commitment to Sustainability: A Tour of their Manhattan Shipping Facility

As I walked through the doors of DHL's Manhattan shipping facility, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and curiosity. The company has made a significant commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, with the goal of becoming completely carbon neutral by 2050. To learn more about their efforts, I joined them on a tour of their facility, which revealed some impressive initiatives that are helping them achieve this ambitious target.

One of the first things I noticed was the presence of their own turbine, which is producing power for the building. This is a significant step towards reducing their reliance on natural gas and lowering their carbon emissions. Instead of relying on the mains power company, DHL is able to use their own renewable energy source to meet their needs, making them more efficient and environmentally friendly.

As we made our way through the facility, I was struck by the sheer number of electric or hybrid vehicles that are used for last-mile delivery. The majority of these vehicles are actually electric, which is a significant departure from what I would have expected. This is largely due to the fact that DHL is waiting for manufacturers to develop trucks that can be fully electric, at which point they will replace their hybrids with all-electric vehicles.

The facility itself is also remarkably electric-ready, with chargers installed at every parking spot. This makes it one of the most efficient and prepared facilities in Manhattan when it comes to electric vehicles. It's clear that DHL is committed to being a leader in sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint.

In addition to their efforts in the shipping facility, DHL has also been working on some innovative solutions for package delivery. One of these initiatives is the Cuba cycle, which is a pedal-assist electric bicycle capable of carrying up to 220 pounds of packages behind the driver. This bicycle is designed to be efficient and easy to use, with the added benefit of reducing carbon emissions. DHL has already implemented this technology in European cities, and they hope to bring it to New York City in the future.

As we left the facility, I couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for DHL's commitment to sustainability. Their efforts are not only impressive, but also provide an exciting glimpse into the future of package delivery. With their goal of becoming completely carbon neutral by 2050, it will be fascinating to see how they continue to innovate and push the boundaries of what is possible when it comes to reducing our impact on the environment.

The Formula E Race: A Celebration of Electric Cars

As I walked towards the DHL booth at the Formula E race, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The company has made a significant commitment to promoting electric cars, and I was eager to learn more about their efforts. As it turned out, my experience was not only informative, but also entertaining.

One of the first things that struck me was the sheer speed of the Formula E cars. These vehicles are capable of reaching speeds of over 200 miles per hour, making them some of the fastest cars in the world. But what I found even more impressive was the technology behind these cars. The Formula E cars are not only fast, but also extremely efficient, with many of them being able to travel up to 200 miles on a single charge.

As I watched the racing, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the sheer power and speed of these vehicles. But what really struck me was the impact that Formula E is having on the world of electric cars. By providing a platform for manufacturers to showcase their technology, Formula E is helping to drive innovation and push the boundaries of what is possible when it comes to electric cars.

The DHL booth at the race was also an impressive sight, with a large shade structure and a number of interactive displays showcasing the company's efforts in promoting electric cars. The team on hand were knowledgeable and enthusiastic, answering my questions and providing me with a wealth of information about DHL's commitment to sustainability.

As I left the Formula E race, I felt inspired by the passion and commitment that is evident among manufacturers and consumers alike. It's clear that electric cars are not just the future, but also an exciting and rapidly evolving industry that is shaping the world we live in today.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso DHL reached out they're actually partnering with the Formula e race that's happening here in New York City which I went to last year and I'm a big fan of but they're doing a lot of things to help then logistically keep their carbon footprint as neutral as humanly possible but right now we're here in their Manhattan shipping facility where we're gonna get a quick little tour of what they're doing here to try to be as green as they can so besides the whole company trying to be completely carbon neutral by 2050 there's a lot of stuff that are already kind of doing here in New York at least at this facility one of the big things is they have their own turbine in other words they are producing their own power all the power they need for this building is coming from their own essential power plant downstairs basically instead of using the power coming from the mains and from like the actual power company they're able to use natural gas to run this turbine and produce their own power which is a lot more carbon neutral effective also in this facility every single vehicle that is the last mile vehicle the ones that actually deliver to your house or pickup from your house are electric or hybrid and the majority of them are actually electric which I thought was interesting I didn't expect that they're actually just waiting for manufacturers to make big enough trucks that are all electric as soon as that happens they can get rid of all of their hybrids and make those fully electric as well the facility itself actually is completely wired for chargers at every parking spot making it probably one of the most efficient and electric ready facilities we have here in Manhattan there you go that's kind of the end of our DHL building tour it's funny I've actually dropped some packages off here and always wonder what was happening behind the closed door and so it's kind of cool that now I know the other thing that's really interesting to me is that they are being so great I actually expected them to be way further behind than that but like the entire plate is electric that's pretty cool or at least hybrid right and then again they're ready to just be an all-electric facility they're just waiting for manufacturers to get shop economy in our tune in midtown Manhattan where DHL has a bunch of Nissan Leafs because there's zero emissions giving free rides to New Yorkers which is very nice of them because Hoover's are expensive here and cabs read Morse so I appreciate it but let's go let's go check out okay that was cool it's funny though how we read New Yorkers are of like free stuff they were just like free ride no no and they just keep walking but eventually they did catch on and took a bunch of rides and people seemed pretty excited about it I understand again Uber's and taxis are quite expensive here but actually now I myself I'm gonna take one of these free rides to my office so I get a little bit more work done before tomorrow tomorrow we're gonna go to the Formula e race which I'm super excited about Danah we are at the formula e race I am a big fan of this race I think that it's kind of gonna do for electric cars what Formula One does for proper gas cars right it's gonna just push the technology forward it gives everybody an excuse to kind of compete and and in develop new technologies etc so of course I'm a big fan if you want more info on Formula e I have a video on that and check it out from last year now my only complaint with this race is that it is always so hot and there's no shade structures at all so you just got a Sun screen it up and just bear with it I mean now I'm gonna head over to the DHL booth because they have a couple of things that I kind of want to check out as far as like they're going green initiative so I kind of want to see what they have there also it's the largest shade structure here at the race so there's that idiot gel booth and the thing behind me is one of the things I wanted to say it's called the Cuba cycle essentially it's a serious pedal assist electric bicycle capable of carrying about 220 pounds worth of packages behind the driver DHL has already replaced up to 60% of their trucks in European cities with bicycles that carry packages and so they're hoping that this guy will actually help further that they're even trying to bring it to New York City wants a few regulations with the city get taken care of no one driver can actually travel up to 50 kilometers on one charge and actually the back of it kind of separates like a train car would they just like unhinge it the wheels come off and they can just attach it on there it's actually super cool they're kind of efficient but you can imagine right like it has to have a serious motor on it with some serious torque if the weight is all at the back and there's 200 pounds of it and then let's say they have to go up I don't know a hill crazy right slow race is done shout-out to DHL for bringing me here I do love this thing and also for showing me their shipping facility in Manhattan as well as giving some zero mission rides to my fellow owners not to say I wasn't expecting them to be this far along on their 2050 goal of zero emissions by the way that goal includes airplanes which that technology doesn't even exist yet so the 2050 part of it I think it's still pretty ambitious now if you guys want to see more of what DHL is doing to be zero emission free and try to make that goal as well as some other stuff that they're doing it's actually really interesting company and they're very tech focused which obviously I appreciate you can head to the link that I'll leave below DHL in motion comic otherwise though as always thanks for watching\n"
