The Evolution of Cane Sauce: A condiment with a unique flavor profile
Alex has been raving about his latest discovery - cane sauce, a mysterious condiment that has captured the attention of food enthusiasts everywhere. With its unique blend of flavors, cane sauce has become a staple in Alex's kitchen, and he's eager to share its secrets with the world. But what exactly is cane sauce, and how does it compare to other popular condiments like Thousand Island dressing?
For those who are unfamiliar, cane sauce is a sweet and tangy condiment that defies easy categorization. It's often described as a honey mustard hybrid, but Alex insists that it's more than just a combination of two flavors. "It's like Thousand Island, but slightly different," he explains. "I don't know, it's just one of those things that you have to try for yourself." And trust us, it's worth trying.
But cane sauce is not without its controversies. Alex has discovered that many fast food chains, including Chick-fil-A, are stingy with their condiments. "They're always charging extra for the good stuff," he laments. "It's like they're trying to rip you off." One clever trick that Alex uses to get more sauce is to pretend to forget to order it. "Just ask them if you forgot to order it, and they'll usually give it back to you," he reveals.
In other news, the world of adult entertainment has taken a surprising turn with the rise of Snapchat. It seems that some strippers are now using the platform to sell their services, with prices starting at just $1 per photo. "It's like Buster Brown money," Alex jokes. "You'd think people would be getting ripped off, but I guess it's a different kind of exploitation."
For those who value convenience and practicality, there's no denying that Alex has come up with some ingenious solutions to everyday problems. His built-in drink holder, for example, is a game-changer for anyone who enjoys a cold beverage on the go. "It's like having your own personal butler," he claims. "Just reach around and grab a drink - it's that easy."
But even Alex can't resist the allure of fast food. Despite his reservations about In-N-Out Burger, he admits that their fries are a major letdown. "They're like rocks hard within," he complains. "I don't know how they manage to get them so bad." On the other hand, Shake Shack is a different story altogether. With its wide range of toppings and sides, including frozen custard and beer, it's clear that this burger joint has won over Alex's heart.
Finally, for those who are feeling nostalgic for a bygone era, there's no denying the allure of British culture. For some reason, Alex is now fixated on the idea of living in Britain, and he's even taken to dreaming about sipping custard-based treats with his friends. "It's like something out of a Dickens novel," he says wistfully. Who knows? Maybe one day we'll all be sipping tea and eating crumpets - a prospect that seems both thrilling and terrifying in equal measure.

listeners asked us to share any Steve Jobs stories that we may have Leander I was going to just put you on the and say do you have any cool Steve Job stories that you can share with us I already fled them all to death on that show besides the handshake on right oh the handshake one was one of my favorites the time that uh Leander key tried to shake Steve Jobs hands and he just he just looked at him sternly and didn't put out his hand to shake it and then Leander didn't that happen again to you yeah I did it twice like an idiot but it wasn't at the same show was it no no no it was it was a while later it was on two separate occasions you can't help it you know it's a natural thing to do isn't it it's just as natural for him to deny it just to be totally repulsed by your invitation to shake his head he didn't know you don't know where Le K's been I was watching some keynote the other day and I I know he he gave all his uh you know you know when he invites people out guests you know people from Adobe and then from you know game companies well he was giving them plenty of handshakes so yeah I noticed he actually is a very hearty hand Shaker he like shakes it very vigorously grabs the elbow with one hand shakes the other but yeah that didn't happen to you huh no interesting and also I literally just thought about this 5 minutes before we started recording happy birthday to us gcast is officially 3 years old as of February 22nd I think oh my gosh can you believe it I I did not three years it's been three years yeah some TV shows don't even make it this long well arguably we shouldn't have either let's be honest we probably should have made it 3 years but we did and I know there's a ton of people who have been with us since episode you know Numero Uno which was arguably much better than this episode and a lot shorter remember the when the episodes were actually 30 minutes long guys I don't I don't even know if Alex you ever were on one yeah I don't think so I'm the reason they're longer you have so many good points and so much wisdom was shared that we decided to extend the show so happy birthday to us happy birthday to Steve Jobs and and um if you've been sticking with us all this time happy birthday to you or happy anniversary and thank you for uh being with us all this time we certainly appreciate it okay guys let's go ahead and move on let's talk about the iic car Alex yes you penned a story this week that talked a little bit about the date a possible release date for the iar care to share yeah Bloomberg uh pulled a 2020 date out of their butts and said that's when Apple is looking to uh Apple's looking to make a car so 20120 we're going to we're going to stick to that I guess which uh is the report mentioned that it's usually takes you know it can take five on the very like low end to S to 10 years to make a car from scratch so uh if they're doing it by 2020 they're definitely on the faster end of the spectrum they well how long did it take Tesla to to do um you know the the first that's a the first one that's a good question um it was yeah they contracted up it's really a Lotus made I mean Lotus put it together you're talking about the Roadster right that little yeah yeah yeah and I think that was only a couple of years right three yeah um but they almost went bankrupt too didn't they the time I feel like all Elon Musk companies almost went bankrupt at one point or another yeah they've all had a few buns I me I think that's true I don't think there's one that hasn't almost gone bankrupt yet in fact um I wonder if Tesla will be able to they're they're they're in quite a hole right now I think well wa Tesla's in a hole you think that's what I was reading yeah they're like uh stock do really well yeah their stock is doing well but they can't seem to like produce cars fast enough I guess that's a good problem to have right right uh the first Tesla Roadster was Prototype was shown off in 2006 so uh and they didn't IPO until 2010 I don't I don't know if we know exactly how long they were working on it before then then but uh side note have you guys seen any videos of the Tesla p85d what is that I think that's so they have the uh the model S right so this is a this is a a version of that car it's all-wheel drive and it goes 0 to 60 in I don't know the exact number but it's it's right around 3.5 seconds so it's like the fastest street production car ever made and there's a bunch of YouTube videos of people testing it out for the first time CU they have a button on there that says insane mode so you're going to go insane yeah goe and press the insane button I'm not going to throw up I hope not so you activate it right and then it turns on like the powerful acceleration and people every time people accelerate like they were taking people for rides in it and they put this kind of older lady in the passenger seat and I thought she was going to pass out okay that's enough okay yay I got it holy she was like rolling her eyes and and uh groaning and moaning she was like asking them to stop and I thought for a minute that we might actually see her pass into another world right in front of us on that video but she survives but everyone who goes through that that acceleration is just like stuck into their seat eyes wide open and there was one girl who was in the back seat and she stuck an iPhone you know just like an iPhone in a case there's nothing sticky about it against the back seat and they accelerated and she took her hand off of it and the gForce of the acceleration held the phone stuck against the seat until they slowed down in which case it like actually fell into the seat itself funny so that's what you can expect when you get into your Apple minivan for the first time tell your kids to sit down buckle up and shut their traps D Daddy's going for a cruise right that face will be like those NASA test things right with their that's like what that older lady's face was like it looked like she was about to pass out in one of those gForce Machin she's like drooling everywhere no she wasn't but that would have made the video a lot funnier so I just looked it up on the web it said the Roadster was um uh they first started design it in 2004 and it launched in 2006 so it's only two years that's really fast of course it was basically a Lotus El lease wasn't it it was that exact model they just gutted it and put some electric motors in it not 100 yeah yeah if you say so I actually really like is yeah well you're right is lo lease yeah no actually it say the Roa has a pass overlap of roughly 6% with the Lotus at lease that's it it only shares 6% of the same Parts yeah wow Lotus made it though I mean they already had all that you know uh expertise right so right right it's going to be interesting to see if Apple ends up partnering with people or trying to do it all on its own because it's not like they don't have enough money to do everything on their own but I mean that's a huge huge investment so I I thought it was interesting that Samsung bought because in the Wall Street Journal report it was talking about how Apple met with this high-end division of Magna International which is a huge Auto supplier in North America and they've got this uh this uh this higher-end division in Europe and apple said it was just like one sentence in the Wall Street Journal that apple had like met with them and then two weeks later Samsung bought that bought that division um so to work on their Battery Technology so it's I don't know if that means Samsung's doing a car probably not but Samsung does already provide electric batteries for like BMW and stuff so what if Samsung ended up making the battery for the Apple car well they got to replenish their ranks right cuz there was that report that came out that said apple is poaching Samsung's battery experts yeah and not just battery experts from there but battery experts from A123 Systems in fact A123 is suing Apple for poaching some of their top talent so it certainly seems like apple is gathering like all the experts that they can to just kind of build this car by themselves and not have to there is you know I mean you could also look at it the other way you could also say well you know they they're recruiting battery experts you know from all these different fields and they're still going to be working on batteries and all of Apple's devices run on batteries right most of them yeah yeah right ex except these are Auto these are Auto auto battery people it's kind of yeah but if you look at and you could look at lot of like you know like some there was some stories about where you know people they've been recruiting and and there was some uh you know like Engineers who are working on um I iPad and iPhone product development you know in other words you know like in the factories and they had had previous experience at you know working at at at Motor companies and well you know I mean are they um really a an automotive expert or they you know an expert in manufacturing yeah that's what I thought I was like yeah you know I mean you could spin it both ways I'm not saying they're not doing it and ofr all the reports say they are but there are other way you know it you know some of these smoking guns I don't think i' like you know definitive proof yeah I thought it was yeah I thought it was interesting that Apple met with Tesla and Elon Musk reportedly like a year ago around and it was the same time that the Wall Street Journal said Tim Cook commissioned you know the project Titan so I want that timeline kind of suggests that it must didn't say what they talked about obviously but it did confirm that they had talked so I was I wonder if you know they approached Tesla maybe Tesla didn't want to sell or work about not poaching each other's the staff uh I don't know I didn't see that in any of the reports musk was just saying and then musk kind of he even entertained the idea of an acquisition he's like it's not that we're against it but you know so and you know such and such would have to happen um I don't know I thought that was interesting musk was hanging out with Johnny IV at the um yeah was he really yeah interesting I think that's your proof right there that's that's conclusive proof Apple's buying Tesla you heard it here maybe it's the spaceship companies after to oh yeah maybe they want to build wouldn't that be funny it's a huge pivot they're like not interested in cars at all they're actually building spaceships as IED if that's like John designed a spaceship yeah that would be awesome or maybe Colony exactly or maybe M just wanted to see Johnny's Apple watch he wasn't wearing an Apple Watch was he probably yeah they're they're all over the place now they're all over the they're allowed to wear them in public now yeah yeah they're building up the hype crazy time now so one last uh one last note about the Apple car I was reading this is crazy so Apple is is is poaching experts from all these different fields right and they're reportedly offering up to a $250,000 signing bonus plus salaries 60% higher than what the people who they're poaching are currently making $250,000 bonus can you imagine you get a new job and they're like hey here's 250 Grand yeah but that won't even get you this hardly a downplay on a condo here San Francisco lot of those guys yeah a lot of those guys are probably millionaires to begin with so yeah maybe they are but uh you know I wouldn't turn down 250k so the good news is it does seem like Apple's working on a car as we've said multiple times before but the bad news is we're going to be talking about this for the next five years until 20120 to actually find out if uh if apple is actually working on a car and what it's going to look like like before we move on I great question from listener Royce tenu he says how much would you pay for an Apple car and what features would you like to see in it Lander or Buster oh I think like the first one's got to be like $100,000 right you think it's going to be that expensive well that's what Tesla did they went after the high-end Market to you know that that helps them make up on all the cost for everything that way they can make it cheaper ones in the future so I would just think it'd be like hey 8 to $100,000 but see now everyone's racing to create production model electric vehicles if Apple does make an electric vehicle yeah but everybody's racing to make uh cheap handphones I Cheon too if only someone would create a cheap Android phone that I could use if only that existed Leander what do you think yeah I'm busted totally right then there's no way they're going to come in at the you know at the at the bottom of the market like with some cheap you know I'm not saying it's going to be a $5,000 car but I'm say 40,000 it's still way too cheap the Tesla is expensive mostly because of the the batteries right and and the batteries are still um it doesn't account for like an insane amount the cost like 20 30 grand or something I don't know if it's that high but those battery packs I mean that's the technology everyone's working on because that's kind of the key to having a lower cost car that has good range right so yeah you know like I mean I was reading a little bit about Battery Technology and there seem to be some you know there's took of some amazing breakthroughs but they keep on talking about that um you know we'll see but in 2020 I mean Apple's uh I'm sorry Tesla's building a big um battery plan right up in Nevada and I think you know batteries should you know I bet they'll go through some kind of Ms law type you know equation like every year they'll they'll get cheaper uh and um a little more efficient so by 2020 maybe the price will come down significantly yeah I think by 2020 you might actually have 50 Grand oh in that case by two so uh any other um hopes and dreams for the Apple car I'm obviously hoping it's electric it seems like it is but you know who knows what they're actually working on I think that having an electric car with a 300 plus mile range that goes 0 to 60 and under 5 seconds would be incredible I don't even need to have an insane mode as long as I had like a you know moderately reasonable mode I want to send do some you know like uh some some real and and clearing the roads I mean cuz I think the biggest problem is congestion M Traffic what if they did what if they did because you know with Uber and everything what if they did some cool ride sharing component where there was you know because that's that's just going to keep blowing up at least in you know big cities I wonder if it will it will be some kind of you know that lift element to it yeah imagine if you could drive the car to work and then you get out and it goes back to your house and then like someone else who's at your house could drive it and then it drops them off and it goes back to some other location and it was always just kind of like moving itself around to get to so that people different people could use the same car that would actually make having a onecar household somewhat more of a possibility if you weren't Comm at the same time we're a long way from that though I don't know everyone's working on some plac it's already happening you yeah I mean you're see that a lot already and there's a lot of people who are moving here into San Francisco like all the young Google Engineers you know I mean and the Apple engineers you know these guys don't have cars right they ride the bus to work and and uh they do zip car and stuff like that when they want to get get out of town for a weekend and I think there that you know there's a pretty big demographic trend didn't wasn't it uh for the first time in in 50 years you know that this generation has bought the car sales have declined significantly there's actually some pretty significant statistics about that I'm probably going to sell my car in a couple months yeah do what I don't know man Uber around lift around see if you actually need to commute regularly though you you either need to take the bus which takes forever or you need to spend a ton of money I mean Uber only really makes sense and and I think the same with car to go and those other like temporary car services if you don't have to go places in a car very often but once you start commuting regularly they become much more expensive than owning yourself well that's why I think Lyft has got such a cool thing going on with their ride sharing thing I guess it hasn't really taken off yet but they're piloting it in San Francisco and it's where you you know you're matched with people that are going on the same route that you are so the fair drops considerably so it's actually pretty affordable and their whole idea is they want to you know I I remember the founder saying something about how he learned that uh there's you know an average of like 75% of the seats on the road are left unfilled and he wanted you know there to be less congestion and more people in cars and to make it cheaper and I think that's a that's a cool way of doing it yeah actually filling up the cars would be a great way of doing it you're right how often do you look to your left to your right and the person in the car next to you is like a picking their nose but B in the car by themselves yet still driving down the HOV lane doesn't that just make you blood boil yeah but the last thing people want to do is going to call a stranger right I mean people hate that yeah a l yeah but it's it's it could change I mean EV you know people realize that it's cheaper and it you know I don't know you're right it's weird Li has to have like reviews like this person will pick their nose while they're in the car with you while making eye contact with you the entire time they have a loot of ride sharing programs in in the Bay Area but the only reason people do is so they can get in the uh you know in the um Lanes yeah do does actually make a difference out there yeah yeah oh yeah yeah all the time he gets he gets you know he gets um he gets picked up all the time and comes into the City and they you know they get to go in the the community lanes and it makes a big big difference huh the Seattle Community Lanes I feel like are always just filled with people who are just by themselves it makes me so mad cuz you'll see them and often times they're in an SUV they might have their windows tinted so it's kind of hard to see in but like they'll FL like headlights will Flash in their windshield or something and you can see they're just by themselves and the only thing that you can do is call this number and report them right no I never have they have people had rubber dolls you know and and and mannequins bad wigs they're always getting nicked here I honestly am not surprised in San Francisco yeah right now that happens uh you know there's there's always some stories about that it's pretty funny but they um you know they they uh people don't cheat here cuz I think they get caught quite a lot wow I wish they were the same in Seattle they don't get caught in Seattle no I think if they call they call that number and they report you if you reported three times then you get put on a list and the police will keep an eye out for you that's your punishment right it's like oh my gosh I'm surprised uh I'm not or that more like everyone is not just using the HOV L all right uh before we move on I squarespace.com I want to thank Squarespace for supporting this episode all right Buster let's talk about iOS 8.3 what about it the beta I heard we're finally get the Simon Phoenix emojis that we've all been demanding Simon Phoenix emojis yeah do you know who Simon Phoenix is he's a criminal the likes a which you have never seen in a bad time he was the worst have you ever seen uh Demolition Man oh I know no you haven't seen Demolition Man no sorry man all right hey you need to you need to enhance your calm right now uh Demolition Man for those who haven't seen it it did come out 93 so I'm not surprised that you haven't seen it one of Wesley Snipes greatest roles is Simon Phoenix and he has like bright yellow hair and I noticed that one of the uh one of the racially diverse emojis looks exactly like him yeah it's a it's a black guy with blonde hair with great blond hair so we're getting uh emojis finally and is it just going to be a selection of emojis or is it just the faces like it's like the faces it's it's kind of like you know the same way you do like accent marks on letters you just like for some of the faces you can press and hold down yeah and then bring up like the different skin tones and you know like they're all yellow though that's kind of the thing that sucks about it is they're by default they're like the Emoji yellow which makes some of them look really silly Now by default so so oh really but if you Cho if you choose one of the customized options so let's say you want the Simon Phoenix option when you go back to use that Emoji does it make you select that option again or can you just does that become the default yeah that's the new default oh dude I'm changing all my Emojis to Simon Phoenix that's going to be how I communicate with people from now on um and it looks like they the Emojis are also coming to OS 10 yeah yeah so when are we getting those I need some Simon Phoenix shoot I don't know it's h it's in the new what is it the OS 10.1.3 beta uhuh and so for that you still you have to go into your Mac to like you you have to go into like the special characters menu and drop down to select which one you want so it's a little bit more complex it's not as easy as on iOS oh do you guys use emojis on iOS or on uh OS 10 very often I only iMessage yeah I only text in emojis you don't use text like act character well there's a you can get aive you can get a keyboard in the App Store a third party keyboard that translates your text into relevant emojis as you type what's it called uh it's called emoji type I believe let me double check that emoji type why why why is the design so bad it looks really childish it's just really bad bad design you mean the new emojis well you know a lot of the icons all the Emoji icons they just they all look really sort of stupid and cartoony like yeah they do don't they yeah they're really really Dreadful and I was wondering is that a hangover from their you know their um their origins in you know from emojis well no I that is are they standard you know what I mean does like does everyone's emojis the same are they the same in in Android no Android they're different they're different on Twitter as well I think too I think it's Facebook yeah any service I think you can uh Implement your own version for the Unicode standard okay well you know I'm kind of don't you think they're shockingly bad I don't know I don't think they're that bad everything even the animals the C I like the jaundice skin color yeah that one is uh that one's very nice people complaining that it's racist too why is it racist I don't understand how having every single skin tone imaginable is racist wait they're complaining that the new ones are racist yeah because like the new default is like bright yellow it's like the you know like the smiley emoji face so even on the people it's like bright bright yellow so it just goes show matter what you do someone's going to take offense to it like here's Apple making a concerted effort to actually increase the diversity of their emojis I I personally don't understand how you could be offended by a yellow Emoji cuz I mean didn't they make it yellow because there's no one that's that color right yes ex anyone can be that unless you're a jais baby and you're not old enough to have a chip on your shoulder about that such such a thing I just love that we're seriously talking about racially diverse emojis I think racial um stereotypes though like the Emojis yeah I don't think I mean I I don't think so I guess your opinion might might be different from person to person but they just look like people and they're different colors and their hair is different colors I mean I was I thought it was kind of cool that uh there's like an olive toned person now because that's kind of actually my skin color Olive toned I'm not totally white you know no exactly and I and I actually became offended I was like I didn't realize all this time how how racially insensitive Apple was being by only providing me like a white character I was like this is not even the character I've been my sense of identity is totally changed what what's that Alex to well to leander's point uh I do it looks like a lot of the standard ones like all of the faces are exactly the same they just have a bunch of different skin tones like they're all the hair and the the like what the face is showing like they're all the same and then there are some that are like uh wearing stuff but the the Basse emojis they they look like carbon copies of each other yeah Lego people right they don't actually look like people exactly right you know from different races they all look like the same kind of really bad cartoon which is still basically a you know white eurocentric figure with a different skin color with a different skin tone right but you could also say Leander like how how much how much variation does there need to be right there's so many different cultures out there and if you're if you're going to make the case that well we need to make sure that these like emojis have or or different Fe features for every culture well there's there's how many different cultures how do you decide which ones are more popular than others you know and then and then build those all in you they have to be infinitely any variable yeah I don't think you have to go that far right but you could you could do it a little more you know possibly a little more um inclusively I mean I think like it it just sounds like it's it sounds as though it's a little bit budged you know what they should do you know like when you play a video game like an Xbox game for the first time you can actually create your character and like change all the different features and everything and add facial hair in fact I remember when I was playing Borderlands uh Buster I made my guy look exactly like you you don't remember this so that's what Apple needs to do they need to build in like an emoji engine that you can go in and change all the different features and then when you save it it it customizes those emoji faces for everyone that you send that emoji to so they see one that's more based upon your actual attributes and that way you can kind of create create it's kind of like uh create your own Emoji so you're in charge of what your emoji looks like would that sat satisfy you Leander I don't know I know it's sounds like a lot of work I mean you want the company to do it oh jeez okay you there must be emoji apps right there must be dozens of ways you can make emojis already if you want to make your own but you know it's like I just s it's like sort of people recognizing there's been a lot of talk about right privilege right recently uhuh in the Press have you seen that and uh you know it's you know for for for a lot of whites it's it's completely invisible you take it off for granted you know that you're going to be in in any situation you walk into you know you're going to be represented and I think you know like if you get if you're a kid and you open up the iPhone and you see a bunch of white faces you know you just feel as though well you know you don't I'm sure you won't get that same sense of connection you do is if you you know unless you're like us where you open it up and you go yeah you know you totally recognize yourself in this I don't know I mean I hear that argument and maybe some people do feel that way but as someone who's not totally white I have never once thought that I just open up the phone or up the iPad and I just identify with the facial features like if they're smiling if they're sad I I've never thought well this this Emoji doesn't represent me personally it doesn't look like me these features are not quite the features that I have I'm way more manly than this emoji and this phone is and I don't feel like I have a manly emoji icon to represent me and I kind of wonder if people actually do really feel passionately about that or if there's just kind of a a lot of noise around it because it's it's one of those sensitive topics that people you know can talk talk about and maybe get some attention you know when they have it in the headline or something and how much the actual General person really you know cares about that I think we have to get somebody uh you know who's more um we shouldn't have a panel of white people talking about it we should have somebody you know we should ask somebody uhon is Olive yeah I'm Olive actually uh I don't appreciate you lumping me into the white category leer I'm grossly offended and uh you know like I have Middle Eastern in my blood like I have a lot of stuff my blood I white is probably only 1/4 of what I am I mean I'm all man don't get me wrong all man you have a lot of stuff in your blood that's for sure you know it man smoking earlier that's kicking in now all right I didn't mean to get side sidetracked on this huge Emoji conversation I'm sorry I apologize I apologize to anyone let's let's move on and talk about some of the other stuff in uh iOS 8.3 so you'll be thrilled to know that if you speak let me see here what languages do we have Russian Danish Dutch Thai Turkish Swedish Port Portuguese you you too can now experience the frustration of trying to talk to Siri and have her understand you because apple is going to be has built in uh uh seven different uh new languages into iOS 8.3 so now you can get angry and yell at Siri in your own native language and uh that would be fun I would love to hear someone in Russian yelling at Syria and correcting it over and over again and I thought this was fun so they're actually building in new I guess dialects of English so people in New Zealand will now be understood by Siri I I guess I never really thought about that their English is probably much different than leander's English yeah of course most people's English is different than leanders English has way less SW why I switching to to the English version and you know thinking it might work better but it doesn't I thought you said that was actually working quite well for you no it didn't it you know I it didn't I I switched it back I think it did initially and or maybe you know how I think like I I think what I was doing is I just had the same experience a lot of people have with Siri which is like it works okay for a while and then you know for reasons who knows it could be the environment the network connection you know your voice that day it just start getting glitchy so I so I I assumed like oh yeah it you know the impression was like it worked okay for a bit and then it stopped working but maybe that would have been true if I'd switch it to you know like any one of the several different languages yeah or or at least you know dialects right different accents maybe uh you could try switching back and forth and see if maybe that works better for you I should try and switch it back and forth we we had a little uh you know um uh text off you know a um a voice off with with Android Louis had his old Android here with his old with his Google now and it seemed that seemed to work great I was really impressed with that that uh with both of us you know his accent and mine you know it's interesting my friend uh is Hardcore Android and he loves Google now and he he says that it works very well and I haven't had a ton of exposure to it maybe it does work better than Siri well that one little test we did it seemed to work really great we were doing like you know uh text transcription and doing different commands and things and it was really you know was pretty dramatic it was it was a lot better and it was fast and it was really really uh you know super accurate huh but I also you know but I also tried out the um I got to get used to it because I'm you know I was using Siri for a while I was really try devoted to trying to learn how to use it and uh voice dictation too you know text dictation and the dictation for a while work great yeah same here and then all of a sudden you're making really wacky sentences that that's the thing it's so inconsistent it's it's it's frustrating it's really maddening yeah and then when you try to rely on it when you're doing something where you don't want to be texting like driving or something it just takes your attention away even more because you're getting so angry I know yeah exactly because I at one point I I was you know I was doing these really elaborate strings of commands like you know Siri text my wife you know I'm going to be home at 7 um or whatever I can't remember you know like actually would I would text three or four different people so you could tell it a bunch of people to text and then the text message and then send it all in one you know like one seamless command and then you know so I invest all this time in learning how to do this stuff and then didn't stop it stop working I'm back where I started and you realize it actually doesn't work at all right well let's move on um One More Story before we uh we do our Q&A with our listener questions I know you guys Leander and Buster actually have take off a little bit early so let's cover this one before you guys go uh Buster let's talk about Toyota's wacky decision to not put carplay in their new models this is ridiculous like why why they were one of the first supporting Partners yeah they were they're they're still listed among Apple's Partners but uh they're not supporting Android auto either they said they want to use their own InTune systems MH which I don't know I think that's just really dumb because then you're just forcing people to use car stereo system that they don't want at least give them the option of Android or iOS you know I wonder if they have I'm sure they probably have to pay Apple like a royalty fee prob maybe they're thinking they can get away without it but good business decisions too I mean like they're probably thinking far had when you know there's all sorts of telemetrics coming through so I'm eating a piece of jerky I was going to say what you sounds like you're eating yeah like like an apricot or something this is why they're saying about you know let's talk about Apple in the car you know like the most important part of the car is not is going to the software mhm and all the entertainment services that come through it you know and Apple's already got like a you know super dominant position in a whole bunch of those POs in in those Industries and I think you know Toyota is probably scared of turning that over maybe they are playing this a bit defensively in protecting their own car building interests maybe that has something to do with it it's going to be a huge Revenue stream I'm sure you know not only selling new services and entertainment but also like collecting all that data H knowing everywhere that you go and and it and selling it down traffic and you know fuel consumption I don't know if you guys have ever used a a high quality inar navigation SL entertainment system I have never seen one every single one that I've seen is a shoddy attempt to be like apple and and none of them are good they're all they're all truly terrible I mean at best you might get one that you're like yeah this is okay have you used carplay though either I have not used carplay yet no yeah me either but I I mean I don't know if that much of an upgrade yeah apparently carplay is not very good there was some early reviews and Consumer Reports didn't give it a very good rating what was their main problem with it uh just like the glitchiness and like it just it was pretty basic and like not in a good way like it just was it seemed like it was unfinished H see that's the kind of stuff though that they're going to fix eventually and I feel like my main problem with a lot of the car systems that are available now is the ux and the UI are terrible they're always very low resolution or the ux is just kind of wacky and you're never really sure where what to press the touch screens are slow and laggy I feel like the touch screens always suck like on every car man it's always like the liquid touch screens and like you have to press it five times before you're sure it got it you know like when you when you use a device like that it makes you realize how great the iPhone actually is that it just works so so precisely yeah because I feel like they put the touch screens in car so that they can put that on the uh on the invoice and like touch tou screen and you're like cool my car has touchcreen but then you think it's going to be like the iPhone and they are not the same touch screens like not all touch screens are made alike no and then you just get pissed off and you drive angry the Tesla UI and the Tesla touch screen supposed to be really good yeah it's like as big as a TV in your D in your freaking front seat like an iPad it's 17 in I think 17 in iPad is it really that large wow stay went on a did a test drive and did a video about he went on one in the UK and um that's the first time I'd actually seen the interface uh you know sort of demoed and and that's pretty good that's on our YouTube channel uhuh culac TV what's the what's the uh do you remember the title of the video um no trying to help direct people we'll put a link in the show notes Link in the show notes problem solved problem solved yeah I want to hear uh I want to hear stay squeal like a girl as he's accelerating that car has got to be a blast to drive all right Leander Buster do you guys have to take off yeah I'm out of here okay you guys keep it sleazy all right peace out man me and Alex are going to wrap up the show bust out those hard questions for Alex oh here yeah I'm just going to drill outty question next oh the dirty ones let me switch my set here wait hold on can we get some Marvin Gay uh this is cold cast after hours cast after hours sexy beard chat with Buster gone okay well Alex before we uh before we jump into the questions let me give a thanks to very desk for supporting this episode are you using are you using a stand up a stand up desk these days I am but it's not a very desk so I don't want to say what it is yeah well but you know what I I want a very desk because the thing I have is a behemoth and it weighs like 60 lbs and I love the idea of having something portable that I can just you know if I move work spaces or something I can take it with me so let me tell you guys about varesk they make I don't know if portable is the right word but you could certainly move your varesk around modular aular is that the word modular modular okay modular standing desks and they're great because they go on your existing desk so if you don't want to wrestle with a huge standing desk they are a much smaller commitment because you can move them around and place them on the desk you already have and maybe you have a desk that you already like and uh more more than that they're actually affordable so most automatic or automatic rather standing desks are very expensive like between a ,000 and all the way on up to you know3 $4,000 varesk has models that start at just $275 and here's the key and this is really the most important thing about a standing desk so you need one that that goes up and down very easily because when I see people make their own you know standup desks at home they're like look I made this for $10 well yeah but it's not easy to actually adjust up and down and that's key because when you're standing all day you're going to get tired your cabs are going going to get tired your gluteus maximi going to get a little tired and eventually like Sean conry you're going to get tired you're going want to sit down and the uh very desk model your mother's tired TR hey Cal calm it down Sean that's what your mother said last night so the thing about vares that's great is it goes up and down easily in three seconds or less they make models that have single monitor support multi-monitor support and my favorite part you're going to burn way more calories when you're standing up you're going to have a sexy bod sexy buns cuz you're going to be burning calories a lot faster and generally speaking like 30 to 40 calories an hour more than if you were sitting add that up and you're burning th000 calories a week if you're standing up for you know at least half your day that's like that's like going on a few runs every week that's how much better you'll be burning calories which means you're going to be losing weight your buns are are going to get rock hard like mine oh your mother must be using a VAR Dash you calm it down you calm it down Sean talk about my mother and actually yes she does use a very desk which is probably why her buns are so rock hard just talking about my mom's buns on this uh very desk sponsorship I did so if you are looking to feel healthier if you're looking to start standing more throughout your day varesk is the least expensive highest quality way I know to do that check it out v r i desk.com and you can provise all their different models and see which one's right for you I want to thank VES for supporting this episode all right Mr connory can you get Alex back on I got some questions I need to ask him one one thing I have a jingle for veresk oh yeah let's hear it if you want glutes of stone give varidesk a try and you'll be home wow that was very poetic thank you oh man they're not they're not uh they're going to be so excited to hear they got your mother called me a poet last night all right Sean get out of here yeah dude he's hard he's hardcore with those zingers he's ridiculous he goes right for the heart he's throwing back a few whiskies upst oh oh martinis sorry Martini is upstairs you know it's Sean connory he can do he can do whatever he wants okay Alex yeah I have pulled our listeners and they have given us a variety of questions to talk about so let's go through some of the unfortunately we got a ton of great ones we're only going to have time to do um some of them so let's go through some of to say up front that I have not looked at any of these so all of my responses will be completely off the cuff okay that's that's actually how I like it let's start with Don Pierce Hannah's question and actually I'm going to do a count of three and we can both answer this question at the same time okay so I'll read the question count to three and then right after three we will uh both say our answer okay uh Don says I haveen an iPad and iPhone no home computer what is the best storage backup storage op option my husband is an Android User bought a Cate hard drive but all the reviews for the IOS app are like one star so we're looking for the best backup storage option for an iPad and an iPhone without a computer Alex on the count of three one two 3 iCloud back blaz you can't back up an iOS device to back blaz oh it has to be iOS device too that's what I was just saying yes if you were going to be on Mac I would definitely suggest back BL you can't yeah don't back you can't all all icloud's going to do on your Mac is do like your settings no you can do your uh you can do your oh on your Mac yeah like your well in iCloud drive you can have like your documents and some photos and stuff but I wouldn't put everything in iCloud Drive well why not because it's iCloud Drive man that that's going to get hacked your nudies are going to get everywhere I don't know if Don Pierce Hannah has nudies that she's sending people she might I guess it's possible Oh I thought this was Dawn like d n Pierce Hannah like such an interesting no it's da as in like the new dawn like I wake up at a new dawn yeah okay yeah yeah yeah so she wants to know she wants to know the best backup storage option I think iCloud is is is definitely the way to go I know you don't agree but here's the thing so she's going to be backing up on her photos to iCloud she's going to be backing up her videos to iCloud she's going to be backing up her uh app data to iCloud cuz you can always download your apps again right but you want to make sure that your data stays intact if you have you know like a game like that has save progress or something that you're trying to track yeah it's probably fine unless you have another option no I would say back blazs on the Mac for like a real backup like a full backup and then iCloud on iOS and have some stuff in iCloud dri I mean that's obviously ideal but she doesn't have a computer so she doesn't she she kind of has limited options okay Dan Miller wants to know where could Apple go with the Apple TV 4K output what are your thoughts Alex I think 4K output is the least interesting thing Ione could do with that but wouldn't you agree absolutely we're going to see yeah the next one will probably do 4K and uh probably be faster hopefully have better like Wi-Fi and stuff and uh I think they're just waiting man to have all the content stuff lined up for that you know that um that pay you know digital pay subscription service that we talked about a few weeks ago they're just waiting to get that ready their sling TV thing and then I think they'll probably put out a box or something with it yeah getting content is obviously one of the bigger challenges for Apple TV but we've talked about this before what about as a kind of a a heart for your home as far as homekit is concerned it already will be the ones that are out now will be uh they will all be that so so the for those uh that maybe haven't heard this so the Apple TV is at least that from what we understand so far is going to operate is kind of like the communication hub for devices that work you know via homekit outside your home so if you want to like control your temperature from your thermostat or your home kit enabled thermostat or something I'm thinking that you're going to need to have an Apple TV in order to to kind of route that traffic app or am I understanding that right Alex if you're not on the Wi-Fi network yes you'll have to have so if you're like at work and you're on your way home and you want to communicate with but at the same time that means your Apple TV needs to be on and stuff and I think that auto they go off automatically yeah but it can wake itself up on the network I mean they have that kind of stuff so that it wakes up okay um let's see here Steven Bo wants to hear us talk about sports he thinks it would be hilarious I don't know what he's talking about I'm a huge sport nut Alex dude I love to sports dude I love sports actually I tell you what I went to a game UFL game pretty sad actually last week and then I watched a basketball game which is the first time I've done that in a long time uh last week the UK game where they destroyed um who did they destroy I don't know they destroyed some team you love the game so much I can tell it left a huge impact on you dude sports are great especially if it's Ultimate Frisbee I love to play Ultimate Frisbee do you really yeah I'm a fanatic yeah H I can't really say that I'm into sports at all in fact I'm happy give me some short shorts throwing that disc around maybe I am into Ultimate Frisbee can I be your uh like your caddy just carry around your discs yeah absolutely that sounds like I am into sports after all uh yeah I uh I played Sports in junior high high school but I didn't actually ever really have a great love of sports I think for me it was mostly like music I was really into music and for me that kind of took up most of my time and even now I actually like going to live sporting events but especially like live football games and stuff but I just never actually do it just you went to a basketball game Alex yeah oh yeah basketball games are fun too okay um let's see here the I nomenclature is kind of interesting oh dude yeah did I forget that one yeah oh okay this yeah Benjamin black said uh talk about how they're abandoning the eye quot ey nomenclature speaking of I good eye on that Alex I almost forgot that one so great question from Benjamin black what do you think uh I think it's interesting I think there was a trademark dispute or something with iatch where uh it was like Swatch or some European I'm looking it up right now yeah uh I think it was the Swatch group they they have a trademark on the I on iatch so I think Apple wanted to call it iatch and Tim Cook and other Executives have even said iatch is a slip up in interviews before so internally they referred to it as iatch and they ended up having to do apple watch because of that trademark and then I think I think they just realized that with that and then with Apple pay it would just make sense to kind of start doing a different kind of nomenclature because if their Flagship new product is going to be that it doesn't really make sense to have some things be I some things be because you know it's the MacBook now and and uh really the only things that are ey are the iOS devices um except for Apple watch but uh yeah that is interesting so like what about an and and I think it honestly just doesn't sound as childish the eye thing is like kind of cute and it's like it reminds you of like the iPod days but for Apple being like a you know $700 billion company now it just seems like the whole eye everything is a little childish I don't know to me yeah I kind of like it and uh we almost talked about this in a previous show unfortunately we never got to it and I'd be interested to hear what Leander key thinks about this too but I think they're I think it's weird that they're moving away from this I thing it's such an incredibly established brand for them that it doesn't make any sense to me why they would they would abandon it you have the iMac you have the iPod you have the iPhone they have the iPad um I don't know why all of a sudden they are they are thinking they need to move away from eyewatch you said they that there was a trademark problem I think yeah reason watch and I don't know about like iay or anything but like iPay kind of sounds dumb if you think about it like oh iay like what are you using you're like you're at the register and like how you going to pay and you're going to go oh I pay I pay iay Apple pay is is that's it's kind of a smart thing because you've got the brand name literally in there you know like every time you say it you're saying the word apple and there's got to be some marketing course somewhere about how that's subconsciously ingraining it into your brain you know like there's probably some reasoning behind that I just hope they don't change it to the Apple pad the Apple phone the Apple they won't change they're not going to change established product names like they're not going to make the iMac you know Mac or something I feel like IP sounds silly but but when iPad came out that also sounded really dumb to me and I made a lot of really juvenile jokes about it but then once they released it I never thought about it again and now it just seems totally natural yeah I don't know man I mean they can call it whatever they want eventually we'll all get used to it I do like they're using Apple for for some of their products I just hope that they kind of keep doing both at at the same time and don't all and don't switch all the way over to using the Apple moniker in front of it everything because I kind of like that it's short and sweet like the iPhone instead of the Apple phone which actually kind of sounds like Windows phone or Android phone or something like that it just uh it's it's more like everyone else I kind of like that cute little eye you know I like cute cute little eyes Alex yeah I don't know all right all right well uh thank you to all of our listeners for donating their questions unfortunately we weren't able to make it through all of them but we certainly appreciate you guys leaving your questions on our Facebook page uh one last thing before we wrap it up uh in honor of our three-year anniversary in honor of our birthday if you what's new with you bro oh not much just uh just had some fried chicken oh yummy oh you have some canes yeah dude dude I just had some canes I just gave the fries are you serious yeah that's awesome kiac combo oh I got the Caniac too that's my goto oh yeah do you do extra cane sauce because I always do that well they give you two with that and that's all I that's true but I got to do three with the can jeez dang I'm a saucy guy too I didn't know they had canes in Arizona they they just really started popping up the last like year year or two yeah what do you think cuz I remember you hating on me about can's oh no I just teasing you yeah it's way better than like uh KFC oh KFC or what's the other one Chick-fil-A way better like I mean I feel like yeah their their chicken's usually pretty good and tender uh you can't can't do better than that toast man yeah and yeah I just scarfed down that toast that's hilarious sounds yummy there's one walking distance of my house really yeah I used to live right across the street from a KFC I I could actually hear their drive-thru from my window that wasn't a good thing for my life or myle yeah my hole is going to be destroyed it kind of sounds like too much of that cane sauce could lead to a cane explosion yeah actually another we gotand kany on here I don't know if we should say cane sauce anymore what's going on Alex is uh Alex has got this sauce called cane sauce and he puts it all over his chicken and he makes cane sauce is it k a h oh ca c c n e is it sugar can yeah yeah yeah is it all sweet and sickly no it's like uh what would how would you describe it it's like a honey mustard kind of yeah almost like Thousand Island I don't know yeah it's a weird mix I don't know so it's a basically just like thousand island but slightly different it's like crack man it is very good though yeah yeah it's so much better than Chick-fil-A sauce and they're like stingy with it so if you try to get extra they always charge you 25 C the key no the key is to go up like and say you forgot to order it and then they feel back so you got to go up and just lie to them and he's like wait a second I recognize you how much is the Sauce cost 80 cents yeah like it's ridiculous Lord must be profit they've got Apple profit margins I'm telling you segue oh my gosh you're getting good at this you see that New York Times story that strippers are using SnapChat to make money how's that they're just they're you can get a stripper on Snapchat so you got to pay some stripper to send you well because they have square cash integration now oh my God it's brilliant it who would pay for that they're gonna send you a picture of like an areola and they're like you want to see the whole nipple you got to give me a dollar and then the picture disappears after that may be your rate but I wish I wish I was making a dollar for each areola shot that's like Buster hind money right there okay yeah that bottom is ridiculous thank you I stand a lot you been using that very death oh yeah I have a built-in drink holder now I actually believe you I just set it on the back shelf when I need it just reach around and get it all right are you guys all working working on something everyone sounds preoccupied uh I was just finishing up this Leander uh I was just reading about K sa just uh did you really search can sace I had a quick look yeah some some vile goo they serve it at a fast food restaurant right I thought you liked vile goo weren't you the one like pitching it like that bicycle stuff uh bicycle stuff yeah like that bicycle energy sludge that you squirt in your mouth oh that stuff yeah yeah for a while sounds right up your alley yeah Everyone likes a bit of diping Goo oh yeah heck yeah again I did holy cow Leander what's your favorite fast food if you had to go somewhere where would you go oh I don't know I guess um um you know I don't know uh I don't know you know uh you can't think of one place well cuz you know we would go to um um in and out oh yeah yeah yeah that place is great no it's not it's horrible I came to this dead nasty at least once a week it's a little more honest than most places but it's still really bad their fries are truly terrible they are the fries are bad I don't know how their fries can be so bad they taste like got eat like you got you got to have them fresh out the griller they're like rocks hard within tast like cardboard yeah the burgers are good though yeah I guess Shake Shack but I don't I don't want to sound like a snob that's the kind of thing aing precious foodie would say I don't even know not that good see me and Alex went to Shake Shack I didn't think the burgers were that good I could see why you want the if it's like for the uh what's I called they got all the like the custards and then they also got beers and stuff like that so that's nice to really yeah so they sell custards and beer along with burgers and stuff yeah that's a card I don't think I had that like like a frozen custard like uh oh it's like really thick you haven't had custard before Lander well not at Shake Shack G say that sounds like something that You' really be into yeah well custard you know that's that's the standard uh British that's what I thought okay everything comes with custard ice cream and custard cegs and custard you know cookies and custard and it's always made out in any Steve Jobs stories that we may have Leander I was going to just put you on the and say do you have any cool Steve Job stories that you can share with us I already fled them all to death on that show besides the handshake on right oh the handshake one was one of my favorites the time that uh Leander key tried to shake Steve Jobs hands and he just he just looked at him sternly and didn't put out his hand to shake it and then Leander didn't that happen again to you yeah I did it twice like an idiot but it wasn't at the same show was it no no no it was it was a while later it was on two separate occasions you can't help it you know it's a natural thing to do isn't it it's just as natural for him to deny it just to be totally repulsed by your invitation to shake his head he didn't know you don't know where Le K's been I was watching some keynote the other day and I I know he he gave all his uh you know you know when he invites people out guests you know people from Adobe and then from you know game companies well he was giving them plenty of handshakes so yeah I noticed he actually is a very hearty hand Shaker he like shakes it very vigorously grabs the elbow with one hand shakes the other but yeah that didn't happen to you huh no interesting and also I literally just thought about this 5 minutes before we started recording happy birthday to us gcast is officially 3 years old as of February 22nd I think oh my gosh can you believe it I I did not three years it's been three years yeah some TV shows don't even make it this long well arguably we shouldn't have either let's be honest we probably should have made it 3 years but we did and I know there's a ton of people who have been with us since episode you know Numero Uno which was arguably much better than this episode and a lot shorter remember the when the episodes were actually 30 minutes long guys I don't I don't even know if Alex you ever were on one yeah I don't think so I'm the reason they're longer you have so many good points and so much wisdom was shared that we decided to extend the show so happy birthday to us happy birthday to Steve Jobs and and um if you've been sticking with us all this time happy birthday to you or happy anniversary and thank you for uh being with us all this time we certainly appreciate it okay guys let's go ahead and move on let's talk about the iic car Alex yes you penned a story this week that talked a little bit about the date a possible release date for the iar care to share yeah Bloomberg uh pulled a 2020 date out of their butts and said that's when Apple is looking to uh Apple's looking to make a car so 20120 we're going to we're going to stick to that I guess which uh is the report mentioned that it's usually takes you know it can take five on the very like low end to S to 10 years to make a car from scratch so uh if they're doing it by 2020 they're definitely on the faster end of the spectrum they well how long did it take Tesla to to do um you know the the first that's a the first one that's a good question um it was yeah they contracted up it's really a Lotus made I mean Lotus put it together you're talking about the Roadster right that little yeah yeah yeah and I think that was only a couple of years right three yeah um but they almost went bankrupt too didn't they the time I feel like all Elon Musk companies almost went bankrupt at one point or another yeah they've all had a few buns I me I think that's true I don't think there's one that hasn't almost gone bankrupt yet in fact um I wonder if Tesla will be able to they're they're they're in quite a hole right now I think well wa Tesla's in a hole you think that's what I was reading yeah they're like uh stock do really well yeah their stock is doing well but they can't seem to like produce cars fast enough I guess that's a good problem to have right right uh the first Tesla Roadster was Prototype was shown off in 2006 so uh and they didn't IPO until 2010 I don't I don't know if we know exactly how long they were working on it before then then but uh side note have you guys seen any videos of the Tesla p85d what is that I think that's so they have the uh the model S right so this is a this is a a version of that car it's all-wheel drive and it goes 0 to 60 in I don't know the exact number but it's it's right around 3.5 seconds so it's like the fastest street production car ever made and there's a bunch of YouTube videos of people testing it out for the first time CU they have a button on there that says insane mode so you're going to go insane yeah goe and press the insane button I'm not going to throw up I hope not so you activate it right and then it turns on like the powerful acceleration and people every time people accelerate like they were taking people for rides in it and they put this kind of older lady in the passenger seat and I thought she was going to pass out okay that's enough okay yay I got it holy she was like rolling her eyes and and uh groaning and moaning she was like asking them to stop and I thought for a minute that we might actually see her pass into another world right in front of us on that video but she survives but everyone who goes through that that acceleration is just like stuck into their seat eyes wide open and there was one girl who was in the back seat and she stuck an iPhone you know just like an iPhone in a case there's nothing sticky about it against the back seat and they accelerated and she took her hand off of it and the gForce of the acceleration held the phone stuck against the seat until they slowed down in which case it like actually fell into the seat itself funny so that's what you can expect when you get into your Apple minivan for the first time tell your kids to sit down buckle up and shut their traps D Daddy's going for a cruise right that face will be like those NASA test things right with their that's like what that older lady's face was like it looked like she was about to pass out in one of those gForce Machin she's like drooling everywhere no she wasn't but that would have made the video a lot funnier so I just looked it up on the web it said the Roadster was um uh they first started design it in 2004 and it launched in 2006 so it's only two years that's really fast of course it was basically a Lotus El lease wasn't it it was that exact model they just gutted it and put some electric motors in it not 100 yeah yeah if you say so I actually really like is yeah well you're right is lo lease yeah no actually it say the Roa has a pass overlap of roughly 6% with the Lotus at lease that's it it only shares 6% of the same Parts yeah wow Lotus made it though I mean they already had all that you know uh expertise right so right right it's going to be interesting to see if Apple ends up partnering with people or trying to do it all on its own because it's not like they don't have enough money to do everything on their own but I mean that's a huge huge investment so I I thought it was interesting that Samsung bought because in the Wall Street Journal report it was talking about how Apple met with this high-end division of Magna International which is a huge Auto supplier in North America and they've got this uh this uh this higher-end division in Europe and apple said it was just like one sentence in the Wall Street Journal that apple had like met with them and then two weeks later Samsung bought that bought that division um so to work on their Battery Technology so it's I don't know if that means Samsung's doing a car probably not but Samsung does already provide electric batteries for like BMW and stuff so what if Samsung ended up making the battery for the Apple car well they got to replenish their ranks right cuz there was that report that came out that said apple is poaching Samsung's battery experts yeah and not just battery experts from there but battery experts from A123 Systems in fact A123 is suing Apple for poaching some of their top talent so it certainly seems like apple is gathering like all the experts that they can to just kind of build this car by themselves and not have to there is you know I mean you could also look at it the other way you could also say well you know they they're recruiting battery experts you know from all these different fields and they're still going to be working on batteries and all of Apple's devices run on batteries right most of them yeah yeah right ex except these are Auto these are Auto auto battery people it's kind of yeah but if you look at and you could look at lot of like you know like some there was some stories about where you know people they've been recruiting and and there was some uh you know like Engineers who are working on um I iPad and iPhone product development you know in other words you know like in the factories and they had had previous experience at you know working at at at Motor companies and well you know I mean are they um really a an automotive expert or they you know an expert in manufacturing yeah that's what I thought I was like yeah you know I mean you could spin it both ways I'm not saying they're not doing it and ofr all the reports say they are but there are other way you know it you know some of these smoking guns I don't think i' like you know definitive proof yeah I thought it was yeah I thought it was interesting that Apple met with Tesla and Elon Musk reportedly like a year ago around and it was the same time that the Wall Street Journal said Tim Cook commissioned you know the project Titan so I want that timeline kind of suggests that it must didn't say what they talked about obviously but it did confirm that they had talked so I was I wonder if you know they approached Tesla maybe Tesla didn't want to sell or work about not poaching each other's the staff uh I don't know I didn't see that in any of the reports musk was just saying and then musk kind of he even entertained the idea of an acquisition he's like it's not that we're against it but you know so and you know such and such would have to happen um I don't know I thought that was interesting musk was hanging out with Johnny IV at the um yeah was he really yeah interesting I think that's your proof right there that's that's conclusive proof Apple's buying Tesla you heard it here maybe it's the spaceship companies after to oh yeah maybe they want to build wouldn't that be funny it's a huge pivot they're like not interested in cars at all they're actually building spaceships as IED if that's like John designed a spaceship yeah that would be awesome or maybe Colony exactly or maybe M just wanted to see Johnny's Apple watch he wasn't wearing an Apple Watch was he probably yeah they're they're all over the place now they're all over the they're allowed to wear them in public now yeah yeah they're building up the hype crazy time now so one last uh one last note about the Apple car I was reading this is crazy so Apple is is is poaching experts from all these different fields right and they're reportedly offering up to a $250,000 signing bonus plus salaries 60% higher than what the people who they're poaching are currently making $250,000 bonus can you imagine you get a new job and they're like hey here's 250 Grand yeah but that won't even get you this hardly a downplay on a condo here San Francisco lot of those guys yeah a lot of those guys are probably millionaires to begin with so yeah maybe they are but uh you know I wouldn't turn down 250k so the good news is it does seem like Apple's working on a car as we've said multiple times before but the bad news is we're going to be talking about this for the next five years until 20120 to actually find out if uh if apple is actually working on a car and what it's going to look like like before we move on I great question from listener Royce tenu he says how much would you pay for an Apple car and what features would you like to see in it Lander or Buster oh I think like the first one's got to be like $100,000 right you think it's going to be that expensive well that's what Tesla did they went after the high-end Market to you know that that helps them make up on all the cost for everything that way they can make it cheaper ones in the future so I would just think it'd be like hey 8 to $100,000 but see now everyone's racing to create production model electric vehicles if Apple does make an electric vehicle yeah but everybody's racing to make uh cheap handphones I Cheon too if only someone would create a cheap Android phone that I could use if only that existed Leander what do you think yeah I'm busted totally right then there's no way they're going to come in at the you know at the at the bottom of the market like with some cheap you know I'm not saying it's going to be a $5,000 car but I'm say 40,000 it's still way too cheap the Tesla is expensive mostly because of the the batteries right and and the batteries are still um it doesn't account for like an insane amount the cost like 20 30 grand or something I don't know if it's that high but those battery packs I mean that's the technology everyone's working on because that's kind of the key to having a lower cost car that has good range right so yeah you know like I mean I was reading a little bit about Battery Technology and there seem to be some you know there's took of some amazing breakthroughs but they keep on talking about that um you know we'll see but in 2020 I mean Apple's uh I'm sorry Tesla's building a big um battery plan right up in Nevada and I think you know batteries should you know I bet they'll go through some kind of Ms law type you know equation like every year they'll they'll get cheaper uh and um a little more efficient so by 2020 maybe the price will come down significantly yeah I think by 2020 you might actually have 50 Grand oh in that case by two so uh any other um hopes and dreams for the Apple car I'm obviously hoping it's electric it seems like it is but you know who knows what they're actually working on I think that having an electric car with a 300 plus mile range that goes 0 to 60 and under 5 seconds would be incredible I don't even need to have an insane mode as long as I had like a you know moderately reasonable mode I want to send do some you know like uh some some real and and clearing the roads I mean cuz I think the biggest problem is congestion M Traffic what if they did what if they did because you know with Uber and everything what if they did some cool ride sharing component where there was you know because that's that's just going to keep blowing up at least in you know big cities I wonder if it will it will be some kind of you know that lift element to it yeah imagine if you could drive the car to work and then you get out and it goes back to your house and then like someone else who's at your house could drive it and then it drops them off and it goes back to some other location and it was always just kind of like moving itself around to get to so that people different people could use the same car that would actually make having a onecar household somewhat more of a possibility if you weren't Comm at the same time we're a long way from that though I don't know everyone's working on some plac it's already happening you yeah I mean you're see that a lot already and there's a lot of people who are moving here into San Francisco like all the young Google Engineers you know I mean and the Apple engineers you know these guys don't have cars right they ride the bus to work and and uh they do zip car and stuff like that when they want to get get out of town for a weekend and I think there that you know there's a pretty big demographic trend didn't wasn't it uh for the first time in in 50 years you know that this generation has bought the car sales have declined significantly there's actually some pretty significant statistics about that I'm probably going to sell my car in a couple months yeah do what I don't know man Uber around lift around see if you actually need to commute regularly though you you either need to take the bus which takes forever or you need to spend a ton of money I mean Uber only really makes sense and and I think the same with car to go and those other like temporary car services if you don't have to go places in a car very often but once you start commuting regularly they become much more expensive than owning yourself well that's why I think Lyft has got such a cool thing going on with their ride sharing thing I guess it hasn't really taken off yet but they're piloting it in San Francisco and it's where you you know you're matched with people that are going on the same route that you are so the fair drops considerably so it's actually pretty affordable and their whole idea is they want to you know I I remember the founder saying something about how he learned that uh there's you know an average of like 75% of the seats on the road are left unfilled and he wanted you know there to be less congestion and more people in cars and to make it cheaper and I think that's a that's a cool way of doing it yeah actually filling up the cars would be a great way of doing it you're right how often do you look to your left to your right and the person in the car next to you is like a picking their nose but B in the car by themselves yet still driving down the HOV lane doesn't that just make you blood boil yeah but the last thing people want to do is going to call a stranger right I mean people hate that yeah a l yeah but it's it's it could change I mean EV you know people realize that it's cheaper and it you know I don't know you're right it's weird Li has to have like reviews like this person will pick their nose while they're in the car with you while making eye contact with you the entire time they have a loot of ride sharing programs in in the Bay Area but the only reason people do is so they can get in the uh you know in the um Lanes yeah do does actually make a difference out there yeah yeah oh yeah yeah all the time he gets he gets you know he gets um he gets picked up all the time and comes into the City and they you know they get to go in the the community lanes and it makes a big big difference huh the Seattle Community Lanes I feel like are always just filled with people who are just by themselves it makes me so mad cuz you'll see them and often times they're in an SUV they might have their windows tinted so it's kind of hard to see in but like they'll FL like headlights will Flash in their windshield or something and you can see they're just by themselves and the only thing that you can do is call this number and report them right no I never have they have people had rubber dolls you know and and and mannequins bad wigs they're always getting nicked here I honestly am not surprised in San Francisco yeah right now that happens uh you know there's there's always some stories about that it's pretty funny but they um you know they they uh people don't cheat here cuz I think they get caught quite a lot wow I wish they were the same in Seattle they don't get caught in Seattle no I think if they call they call that number and they report you if you reported three times then you get put on a list and the police will keep an eye out for you that's your punishment right it's like oh my gosh I'm surprised uh I'm not or that more like everyone is not just using the HOV L all right uh before we move on I want to say squarespace.com I want to thank Squarespace for supporting this episode all right Buster let's talk about iOS 8.3 what about it the beta I heard we're finally get the Simon Phoenix emojis that we've all been demanding Simon Phoenix emojis yeah do you know who Simon Phoenix is he's a criminal the likes a which you have never seen in a bad time he was the worst have you ever seen uh Demolition Man oh I know no you haven't seen Demolition Man no sorry man all right hey you need to you need to enhance your calm right now uh Demolition Man for those who haven't seen it it did come out 93 so I'm not surprised that you haven't seen it one of Wesley Snipes greatest roles is Simon Phoenix and he has like bright yellow hair and I noticed that one of the uh one of the racially diverse emojis looks exactly like him yeah it's a it's a black guy with blonde hair with great blond hair so we're getting uh emojis finally and is it just going to be a selection of emojis or is it just the faces like it's like the faces it's it's kind of like you know the same way you do like accent marks on letters you just like for some of the faces you can press and hold down yeah and then bring up like the different skin tones and you know like they're all yellow though that's kind of the thing that sucks about it is they're by default they're like the Emoji yellow which makes some of them look really silly Now by default so so oh really but if you Cho if you choose one of the customized options so let's say you want the Simon Phoenix option when you go back to use that Emoji does it make you select that option again or can you just does that become the default yeah that's the new default oh dude I'm changing all my Emojis to Simon Phoenix that's going to be how I communicate with people from now on um and it looks like they the Emojis are also coming to OS 10 yeah yeah so when are we getting those I need some Simon Phoenix shoot I don't know it's h it's in the new what is it the OS 10.1.3 beta uhuh and so for that you still you have to go into your Mac to like you you have to go into like the special characters menu and drop down to select which one you want so it's a little bit more complex it's not as easy as on iOS oh do you guys use emojis on iOS or on uh OS 10 very often I only iMessage yeah I only text in emojis you don't use text like act character well there's a you can get aive you can get a keyboard in the App Store a third party keyboard that translates your text into relevant emojis as you type what's it called uh it's called emoji type I believe let me double check that emoji type why why why is the design so bad it looks really childish it's just really bad bad design you mean the new emojis well you know a lot of the icons all the Emoji icons they just they all look really sort of stupid and cartoony like yeah they do don't they yeah they're really really Dreadful and I was wondering is that a hangover from their you know their um their origins in you know from emojis well no I that is are they standard you know what I mean does like does everyone's emojis the same are they the same in in Android no Android they're different they're different on Twitter as well I think too I think it's Facebook yeah any service I think you can uh Implement your own version for the Unicode standard okay well you know I'm kind of don't you think they're shockingly bad I don't know I don't think they're that bad everything even the animals the C I like the jaundice skin color yeah that one is uh that one's very nice people complaining that it's racist too why is it racist I don't understand how having every single skin tone imaginable is racist wait they're complaining that the new ones are racist yeah because like the new default is like bright yellow it's like the you know like the smiley emoji face so even on the people it's like bright bright yellow so it just goes show matter what you do someone's going to take offense to it like here's Apple making a concerted effort to actually increase the diversity of their emojis I I personally don't understand how you could be offended by a yellow Emoji cuz I mean didn't they make it yellow because there's no one that's that color right yes ex anyone can be that unless you're a jais baby and you're not old enough to have a chip on your shoulder about that such such a thing I just love that we're seriously talking about racially diverse emojis I think racial um stereotypes though like the Emojis yeah I don't think I mean I I don't think so I guess your opinion might might be different from person to person but they just look like people and they're different colors and their hair is different colors I mean I was I thought it was kind of cool that uh there's like an olive toned person now because that's kind of actually my skin color Olive toned I'm not totally white you know no exactly and I and I actually became offended I was like I didn't realize all this time how how racially insensitive Apple was being by only providing me like a white character I was like this is not even the character I've been my sense of identity is totally changed what what's that Alex to well to leander's point uh I do it looks like a lot of the standard ones like all of the faces are exactly the same they just have a bunch of different skin tones like they're all the hair and the the like what the face is showing like they're all the same and then there are some that are like uh wearing stuff but the the Basse emojis they they look like carbon copies of each other yeah Lego people right they don't actually look like people exactly right you know from different races they all look like the same kind of really bad cartoon which is still basically a you know white eurocentric figure with a different skin color with a different skin tone right but you could also say Leander like how how much how much variation does there need to be right there's so many different cultures out there and if you're if you're going to make the case that well we need to make sure that these like emojis have or or different Fe features for every culture well there's there's how many different cultures how do you decide which ones are more popular than others you know and then and then build those all in you they have to be infinitely any variable yeah I don't think you have to go that far right but you could you could do it a little more you know possibly a little more um inclusively I mean I think like it it just sounds like it's it sounds as though it's a little bit budged you know what they should do you know like when you play a video game like an Xbox game for the first time you can actually create your character and like change all the different features and everything and add facial hair in fact I remember when I was playing Borderlands uh Buster I made my guy look exactly like you you don't remember this so that's what Apple needs to do they need to build in like an emoji engine that you can go in and change all the different features and then when you save it it it customizes those emoji faces for everyone that you send that emoji to so they see one that's more based upon your actual attributes and that way you can kind of create create it's kind of like uh create your own Emoji so you're in charge of what your emoji looks like would that sat satisfy you Leander I don't know I know it's sounds like a lot of work I mean you want the company to do it oh jeez okay you there must be emoji apps right there must be dozens of ways you can make emojis already if you want to make your own but you know it's like I just s it's like sort of people recognizing there's been a lot of talk about right privilege right recently uhuh in the Press have you seen that and uh you know it's you know for for for a lot of whites it's it's completely invisible you take it off for granted you know that you're going to be in in any situation you walk into you know you're going to be represented and I think you know like if you get if you're a kid and you open up the iPhone and you see a bunch of white faces you know you just feel as though well you know you don't I'm sure you won't get that same sense of connection you do is if you you know unless you're like us where you open it up and you go yeah you know you totally recognize yourself in this I don't know I mean I hear that argument and maybe some people do feel that way but as someone who's not totally white I have never once thought that I just open up the phone or up the iPad and I just identify with the facial features like if they're smiling if they're sad I I've never thought well this this Emoji doesn't represent me personally it doesn't look like me these features are not quite the features that I have I'm way more manly than this emoji and this phone is and I don't feel like I have a manly emoji icon to represent me and I kind of wonder if people actually do really feel passionately about that or if there's just kind of a a lot of noise around it because it's it's one of those sensitive topics that people you know can talk talk about and maybe get some attention you know when they have it in the headline or something and how much the actual General person really you know cares about that I think we have to get somebody uh you know who's more um we shouldn't have a panel of white people talking about it we should have somebody you know we should ask somebody uhon is Olive yeah I'm Olive actually uh I don't appreciate you lumping me into the white category leer I'm grossly offended and uh you know like I have Middle Eastern in my blood like I have a lot of stuff my blood I white is probably only 1/4 of what I am I mean I'm all man don't get me wrong all man you have a lot of stuff in your blood that's for sure you know it man smoking earlier that's kicking in now all right I didn't mean to get side sidetracked on this huge Emoji conversation I'm sorry I apologize I apologize to anyone let's let's move on and talk about some of the other stuff in uh iOS 8.3 so you'll be thrilled to know that if you speak let me see here what languages do we have Russian Danish Dutch Thai Turkish Swedish Port Portuguese you you too can now experience the frustration of trying to talk to Siri and have her understand you because apple is going to be has built in uh uh seven different uh new languages into iOS 8.3 so now you can get angry and yell at Siri in your own native language and uh that would be fun I would love to hear someone in Russian yelling at Syria and correcting it over and over again and I thought this was fun so they're actually building in new I guess dialects of English so people in New Zealand will now be understood by Siri I I guess I never really thought about that their English is probably much different than leander's English yeah of course most people's English is different than leanders English has way less SW why I switching to to the English version and you know thinking it might work better but it doesn't I thought you said that was actually working quite well for you no it didn't it you know I it didn't I I switched it back I think it did initially and or maybe you know how I think like I I think what I was doing is I just had the same experience a lot of people have with Siri which is like it works okay for a while and then you know for reasons who knows it could be the environment the network connection you know your voice that day it just start getting glitchy so I so I I assumed like oh yeah it you know the impression was like it worked okay for a bit and then it stopped working but maybe that would have been true if I'd switch it to you know like any one of the several different languages yeah or or at least you know dialects right different accents maybe uh you could try switching back and forth and see if maybe that works better for you I should try and switch it back and forth we we had a little uh you know um uh text off you know a um a voice off with with Android Louis had his old Android here with his old with his Google now and it seemed that seemed to work great I was really impressed with that that uh with both of us you know his accent and mine you know it's interesting my friend uh is Hardcore Android and he loves Google now and he he says that it works very well and I haven't had a ton of exposure to it maybe it does work better than Siri well that one little test we did it seemed to work really great we were doing like you know uh text transcription and doing different commands and things and it was really you know was pretty dramatic it was it was a lot better and it was fast and it was really really uh you know super accurate huh but I also you know but I also tried out the um I got to get used to it because I'm you know I was using Siri for a while I was really try devoted to trying to learn how to use it and uh voice dictation too you know text dictation and the dictation for a while work great yeah same here and then all of a sudden you're making really wacky sentences that that's the thing it's so inconsistent it's it's it's frustrating it's really maddening yeah and then when you try to rely on it when you're doing something where you don't want to be texting like driving or something it just takes your attention away even more because you're getting so angry I know yeah exactly because I at one point I I was you know I was doing these really elaborate strings of commands like you know Siri text my wife you know I'm going to be home at 7 um or whatever I can't remember you know like actually would I would text three or four different people so you could tell it a bunch of people to text and then the text message and then send it all in one you know like one seamless command and then you know so I invest all this time in learning how to do this stuff and then didn't stop it stop working I'm back where I started and you realize it actually doesn't work at all right well let's move on um One More Story before we uh we do our Q&A with our listener questions I know you guys Leander and Buster actually have take off a little bit early so let's cover this one before you guys go uh Buster let's talk about Toyota's wacky decision to not put carplay in their new models this is ridiculous like why why they were one of the first supporting Partners yeah they were they're they're still listed among Apple's Partners but uh they're not supporting Android auto either they said they want to use their own InTune systems MH which I don't know I think that's just really dumb because then you're just forcing people to use car stereo system that they don't want at least give them the option of Android or iOS you know I wonder if they have I'm sure they probably have to pay Apple like a royalty fee prob maybe they're thinking they can get away without it but good business decisions too I mean like they're probably thinking far had when you know there's all sorts of telemetrics coming through so I'm eating a piece of jerky I was going to say what you sounds like you're eating yeah like like an apricot or something this is why they're saying about you know let's talk about Apple in the car you know like the most important part of the car is not is going to the software mhm and all the entertainment services that come through it you know and Apple's already got like a you know super dominant position in a whole bunch of those POs in in those Industries and I think you know Toyota is probably scared of turning that over maybe they are playing this a bit defensively in protecting their own car building interests maybe that has something to do with it it's going to be a huge Revenue stream I'm sure you know not only selling new services and entertainment but also like collecting all that data H knowing everywhere that you go and and it and selling it down traffic and you know fuel consumption I don't know if you guys have ever used a a high quality inar navigation SL entertainment system I have never seen one every single one that I've seen is a shoddy attempt to be like apple and and none of them are good they're all they're all truly terrible I mean at best you might get one that you're like yeah this is okay have you used carplay though either I have not used carplay yet no yeah me either but I I mean I don't know if that much of an upgrade yeah apparently carplay is not very good there was some early reviews and Consumer Reports didn't give it a very good rating what was their main problem with it uh just like the glitchiness and like it just it was pretty basic and like not in a good way like it just was it seemed like it was unfinished H see that's the kind of stuff though that they're going to fix eventually and I feel like my main problem with a lot of the car systems that are available now is the ux and the UI are terrible they're always very low resolution or the ux is just kind of wacky and you're never really sure where what to press the touch screens are slow and laggy I feel like the touch screens always suck like on every car man it's always like the liquid touch screens and like you have to press it five times before you're sure it got it you know like when you when you use a device like that it makes you realize how great the iPhone actually is that it just works so so precisely yeah because I feel like they put the touch screens in car so that they can put that on the uh on the invoice and like touch tou screen and you're like cool my car has touchcreen but then you think it's going to be like the iPhone and they are not the same touch screens like not all touch screens are made alike no and then you just get pissed off and you drive angry the Tesla UI and the Tesla touch screen supposed to be really good yeah it's like as big as a TV in your D in your freaking front seat like an iPad it's 17 in I think 17 in iPad is it really that large wow stay went on a did a test drive and did a video about he went on one in the UK and um that's the first time I'd actually seen the interface uh you know sort of demoed and and that's pretty good that's on our YouTube channel uhuh culac TV what's the what's the uh do you remember the title of the video um no trying to help direct people we'll put a link in the show notes Link in the show notes problem solved problem solved yeah I want to hear uh I want to hear stay squeal like a girl as he's accelerating that car has got to be a blast to drive all right Leander Buster do you guys have to take off yeah I'm out of here okay you guys keep it sleazy all right peace out man me and Alex are going to wrap up the show bust out those hard questions for Alex oh here yeah I'm just going to drill outty question next oh the dirty ones let me switch my set here wait hold on can we get some Marvin Gay uh this is cold cast after hours cast after hours sexy beard chat with Buster gone okay well Alex before we uh before we jump into the questions let me give a thanks to very desk for supporting this episode are you using are you using a stand up a stand up desk these days I am but it's not a very desk so I don't want to say what it is yeah well but you know what I I want a very desk because the thing I have is a behemoth and it weighs like 60 lbs and I love the idea of having something portable that I can just you know if I move work spaces or something I can take it with me so let me tell you guys about varesk they make I don't know if portable is the right word but you could certainly move your varesk around modular aular is that the word modular modular okay modular standing desks and they're great because they go on your existing desk so if you don't want to wrestle with a huge standing desk they are a much smaller commitment because you can move them around and place them on the desk you already have and maybe you have a desk that you already like and uh more more than that they're actually affordable so most automatic or automatic rather standing desks are very expensive like between a ,000 and all the way on up to you know3 $4,000 varesk has models that start at just $275 and here's the key and this is really the most important thing about a standing desk so you need one that that goes up and down very easily because when I see people make their own you know standup desks at home they're like look I made this for $10 well yeah but it's not easy to actually adjust up and down and that's key because when you're standing all day you're going to get tired your cabs are going going to get tired your gluteus maximi going to get a little tired and eventually like Sean conry you're going to get tired you're going want to sit down and the uh very desk model your mother's tired TR hey Cal calm it down Sean that's what your mother said last night so the thing about vares that's great is it goes up and down easily in three seconds or less they make models that have single monitor support multi-monitor support and my favorite part you're going to burn way more calories when you're standing up you're going to have a sexy bod sexy buns cuz you're going to be burning calories a lot faster and generally speaking like 30 to 40 calories an hour more than if you were sitting add that up and you're burning th000 calories a week if you're standing up for you know at least half your day that's like that's like going on a few runs every week that's how much better you'll be burning calories which means you're going to be losing weight your buns are are going to get rock hard like mine oh your mother must be using a VAR Dash you calm it down you calm it down Sean talk about my mother and actually yes she does use a very desk which is probably why her buns are so rock hard just talking about my mom's buns on this uh very desk sponsorship I did so if you are looking to feel healthier if you're looking to start standing more throughout your day varesk is the least expensive highest quality way I know to do that check it out v r i desk.com and you can provise all their different models and see which one's right for you I want to thank VES for supporting this episode all right Mr connory can you get Alex back on I got some questions I need to ask him one one thing I have a jingle for veresk oh yeah let's hear it if you want glutes of stone give varidesk a try and you'll be home wow that was very poetic thank you oh man they're not they're not uh they're going to be so excited to hear they got your mother called me a poet last night all right Sean get out of here yeah dude he's hard he's hardcore with those zingers he's ridiculous he goes right for the heart he's throwing back a few whiskies upst oh oh martinis sorry Martini is upstairs you know it's Sean connory he can do he can do whatever he wants okay Alex yeah I have pulled our listeners and they have given us a variety of questions to talk about so let's go through some of the unfortunately we got a ton of great ones we're only going to have time to do um some of them so let's go through some of to say up front that I have not looked at any of these so all of my responses will be completely off the cuff okay that's that's actually how I like it let's start with Don Pierce Hannah's question and actually I'm going to do a count of three and we can both answer this question at the same time okay so I'll read the question count to three and then right after three we will uh both say our answer okay uh Don says I haveen an iPad and iPhone no home computer what is the best storage backup storage op option my husband is an Android User bought a Cate hard drive but all the reviews for the IOS app are like one star so we're looking for the best backup storage option for an iPad and an iPhone without a computer Alex on the count of three one two 3 iCloud back blaz you can't back up an iOS device to back blaz oh it has to be iOS device too that's what I was just saying yes if you were going to be on Mac I would definitely suggest back BL you can't yeah don't back you can't all all icloud's going to do on your Mac is do like your settings no you can do your uh you can do your oh on your Mac yeah like your well in iCloud drive you can have like your documents and some photos and stuff but I wouldn't put everything in iCloud Drive well why not because it's iCloud Drive man that that's going to get hacked your nudies are going to get everywhere I don't know if Don Pierce Hannah has nudies that she's sending people she might I guess it's possible Oh I thought this was Dawn like d n Pierce Hannah like such an interesting no it's da as in like the new dawn like I wake up at a new dawn yeah okay yeah yeah yeah so she wants to know she wants to know the best backup storage option I think iCloud is is is definitely the way to go I know you don't agree but here's the thing so she's going to be backing up on her photos to iCloud she's going to be backing up her videos to iCloud she's going to be backing up her uh app data to iCloud cuz you can always download your apps again right but you want to make sure that your data stays intact if you have you know like a game like that has save progress or something that you're trying to track yeah it's probably fine unless you have another option no I would say back blazs on the Mac for like a real backup like a full backup and then iCloud on iOS and have some stuff in iCloud dri I mean that's obviously ideal but she doesn't have a computer so she doesn't she she kind of has limited options okay Dan Miller wants to know where could Apple go with the Apple TV 4K output what are your thoughts Alex I think 4K output is the least interesting thing Ione could do with that but wouldn't you agree absolutely we're going to see yeah the next one will probably do 4K and uh probably be faster hopefully have better like Wi-Fi and stuff and uh I think they're just waiting man to have all the content stuff lined up for that you know that um that pay you know digital pay subscription service that we talked about a few weeks ago they're just waiting to get that ready their sling TV thing and then I think they'll probably put out a box or something with it yeah getting content is obviously one of the bigger challenges for Apple TV but we've talked about this before what about as a kind of a a heart for your home as far as homekit is concerned it already will be the ones that are out now will be uh they will all be that so so the for those uh that maybe haven't heard this so the Apple TV is at least that from what we understand so far is going to operate is kind of like the communication hub for devices that work you know via homekit outside your home so if you want to like control your temperature from your thermostat or your home kit enabled thermostat or something I'm thinking that you're going to need to have an Apple TV in order to to kind of route that traffic app or am I understanding that right Alex if you're not on the Wi-Fi network yes you'll have to have so if you're like at work and you're on your way home and you want to communicate with but at the same time that means your Apple TV needs to be on and stuff and I think that auto they go off automatically yeah but it can wake itself up on the network I mean they have that kind of stuff so that it wakes up okay um let's see here Steven Bo wants to hear us talk about sports he thinks it would be hilarious I don't know what he's talking about I'm a huge sport nut Alex dude I love to sports dude I love sports actually I tell you what I went to a game UFL game pretty sad actually last week and then I watched a basketball game which is the first time I've done that in a long time uh last week the UK game where they destroyed um who did they destroy I don't know they destroyed some team you love the game so much I can tell it left a huge impact on you dude sports are great especially if it's Ultimate Frisbee I love to play Ultimate Frisbee do you really yeah I'm a fanatic yeah H I can't really say that I'm into sports at all in fact I'm happy give me some short shorts throwing that disc around maybe I am into Ultimate Frisbee can I be your uh like your caddy just carry around your discs yeah absolutely that sounds like I am into sports after all uh yeah I uh I played Sports in junior high high school but I didn't actually ever really have a great love of sports I think for me it was mostly like music I was really into music and for me that kind of took up most of my time and even now I actually like going to live sporting events but especially like live football games and stuff but I just never actually do it just you went to a basketball game Alex yeah oh yeah basketball games are fun too okay um let's see here the I nomenclature is kind of interesting oh dude yeah did I forget that one yeah oh okay this yeah Benjamin black said uh talk about how they're abandoning the eye quot ey nomenclature speaking of I good eye on that Alex I almost forgot that one so great question from Benjamin black what do you think uh I think it's interesting I think there was a trademark dispute or something with iatch where uh it was like Swatch or some European I'm looking it up right now yeah uh I think it was the Swatch group they they have a trademark on the I on iatch so I think Apple wanted to call it iatch and Tim Cook and other Executives have even said iatch is a slip up in interviews before so internally they referred to it as iatch and they ended up having to do apple watch because of that trademark and then I think I think they just realized that with that and then with Apple pay it would just make sense to kind of start doing a different kind of nomenclature because if their Flagship new product is going to be that it doesn't really make sense to have some things be I some things be because you know it's the MacBook now and and uh really the only things that are ey are the iOS devices um except for Apple watch but uh yeah that is interesting so like what about an and and I think it honestly just doesn't sound as childish the eye thing is like kind of cute and it's like it reminds you of like the iPod days but for Apple being like a you know $700 billion company now it just seems like the whole eye everything is a little childish I don't know to me yeah I kind of like it and uh we almost talked about this in a previous show unfortunately we never got to it and I'd be interested to hear what Leander key thinks about this too but I think they're I think it's weird that they're moving away from this I thing it's such an incredibly established brand for them that it doesn't make any sense to me why they would they would abandon it you have the iMac you have the iPod you have the iPhone they have the iPad um I don't know why all of a sudden they are they are thinking they need to move away from eyewatch you said they that there was a trademark problem I think yeah reason watch and I don't know about like iay or anything but like iPay kind of sounds dumb if you think about it like oh iay like what are you using you're like you're at the register and like how you going to pay and you're going to go oh I pay I pay iay Apple pay is is that's it's kind of a smart thing because you've got the brand name literally in there you know like every time you say it you're saying the word apple and there's got to be some marketing course somewhere about how that's subconsciously ingraining it into your brain you know like there's probably some reasoning behind that I just hope they don't change it to the Apple pad the Apple phone the Apple they won't change they're not going to change established product names like they're not going to make the iMac you know Mac or something I feel like IP sounds silly but but when iPad came out that also sounded really dumb to me and I made a lot of really juvenile jokes about it but then once they released it I never thought about it again and now it just seems totally natural yeah I don't know man I mean they can call it whatever they want eventually we'll all get used to it I do like they're using Apple for for some of their products I just hope that they kind of keep doing both at at the same time and don't all and don't switch all the way over to using the Apple moniker in front of it everything because I kind of like that it's short and sweet like the iPhone instead of the Apple phone which actually kind of sounds like Windows phone or Android phone or something like that it just uh it's it's more like everyone else I kind of like that cute little eye you know I like cute cute little eyes Alex yeah I don't know all right all right well uh thank you to all of our listeners for donating their questions unfortunately we weren't able to make it through all of them but we certainly appreciate you guys leaving your questions on our Facebook page uh one last thing before we wrap it up uh in honor of our three-year anniversary in honor of our birthday if you what's new with you bro oh not much just uh just had some fried chicken oh yummy oh you have some canes yeah dude dude I just had some canes I just gave the fries are you serious yeah that's awesome kiac combo oh I got the Caniac too that's my goto oh yeah do you do extra cane sauce because I always do that well they give you two with that and that's all I that's true but I got to do three with the can jeez dang I'm a saucy guy too I didn't know they had canes in Arizona they they just really started popping up the last like year year or two yeah what do you think cuz I remember you hating on me about can's oh no I just teasing you yeah it's way better than like uh KFC oh KFC or what's the other one Chick-fil-A way better like I mean I feel like yeah their their chicken's usually pretty good and tender uh you can't can't do better than that toast man yeah and yeah I just scarfed down that toast that's hilarious sounds yummy there's one walking distance of my house really yeah I used to live right across the street from a KFC I I could actually hear their drive-thru from my window that wasn't a good thing for my life or myle yeah my hole is going to be destroyed it kind of sounds like too much of that cane sauce could lead to a cane explosion yeah actually another we gotand kany on here I don't know if we should say cane sauce anymore what's going on Alex is uh Alex has got this sauce called cane sauce and he puts it all over his chicken and he makes cane sauce is it k a h oh ca c c n e is it sugar can yeah yeah yeah is it all sweet and sickly no it's like uh what would how would you describe it it's like a honey mustard kind of yeah almost like Thousand Island I don't know yeah it's a weird mix I don't know so it's a basically just like thousand island but slightly different it's like crack man it is very good though yeah yeah it's so much better than Chick-fil-A sauce and they're like stingy with it so if you try to get extra they always charge you 25 C the key no the key is to go up like and say you forgot to order it and then they feel back so you got to go up and just lie to them and he's like wait a second I recognize you how much is the Sauce cost 80 cents yeah like it's ridiculous Lord must be profit they've got Apple profit margins I'm telling you segue oh my gosh you're getting good at this you see that New York Times story that strippers are using SnapChat to make money how's that they're just they're you can get a stripper on Snapchat so you got to pay some stripper to send you well because they have square cash integration now oh my God it's brilliant it who would pay for that they're gonna send you a picture of like an areola and they're like you want to see the whole nipple you got to give me a dollar and then the picture disappears after that may be your rate but I wish I wish I was making a dollar for each areola shot that's like Buster hind money right there okay yeah that bottom is ridiculous thank you I stand a lot you been using that very death oh yeah I have a built-in drink holder now I actually believe you I just set it on the back shelf when I need it just reach around and get it all right are you guys all working working on something everyone sounds preoccupied uh I was just finishing up this Leander uh I was just reading about K sa just uh did you really search can sace I had a quick look yeah some some vile goo they serve it at a fast food restaurant right I thought you liked vile goo weren't you the one like pitching it like that bicycle stuff uh bicycle stuff yeah like that bicycle energy sludge that you squirt in your mouth oh that stuff yeah yeah for a while sounds right up your alley yeah Everyone likes a bit of diping Goo oh yeah heck yeah again I did holy cow Leander what's your favorite fast food if you had to go somewhere where would you go oh I don't know I guess um um you know I don't know uh I don't know you know uh you can't think of one place well cuz you know we would go to um um in and out oh yeah yeah yeah that place is great no it's not it's horrible I came to this dead nasty at least once a week it's a little more honest than most places but it's still really bad their fries are truly terrible they are the fries are bad I don't know how their fries can be so bad they taste like got eat like you got you got to have them fresh out the griller they're like rocks hard within tast like cardboard yeah the burgers are good though yeah I guess Shake Shack but I don't I don't want to sound like a snob that's the kind of thing aing precious foodie would say I don't even know not that good see me and Alex went to Shake Shack I didn't think the burgers were that good I could see why you want the if it's like for the uh what's I called they got all the like the custards and then they also got beers and stuff like that so that's nice to really yeah so they sell custards and beer along with burgers and stuff yeah that's a card I don't think I had that like like a frozen custard like uh oh it's like really thick you haven't had custard before Lander well not at Shake Shack G say that sounds like something that You' really be into yeah well custard you know that's that's the standard uh British that's what I thought okay everything comes with custard ice cream and custard cegs and custard you know cookies and custard and it's always made out in a packet and it's always got lumps of you know like oh yeah custard powder I really want to live in Britain now love it if you that K goo they have you like that Special K goo you're going to love the custard\n"
