2022 Volvo V60 T8 Polestar Engineered Review
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: ensails be damned volvo says wagons and sedans will both have a place in its lineup so we decided to take a look at volvo's most interesting and expensive wagon offering the volvo v60 t8 polestar engineered volvo's always been great at simple yet stylish and there's a couple really good elements thrown in there as well these for example they call them thor's hammer the lines connect really well from the nose to the tail and the way the roof line and the rear window come together looks great it takes more than a quick glance though to figure out that this isn't a run-of-the-mill v60 the badges on the front grille and rear hatch those mean this one gets the polestar engineered treatment as for wheels it comes with these 19-inch lightweight forged units wrapped in continental summer tires behind those wheels are a set of brembo brakes so that means this wagon has better brakes than a lot of so-called sporty vehicles out there today moving to the cabin and the simple yet stylish trend continues everything feels really nice to the touch and both the 12.3 inch digital gauge cluster and the 9-inch infotainment screen are really nice to look at and they're fairly responsive still your interior color combinations are limited when i say limited i really mean you have one option charcoal nappa leather and piano black accents piano black tends to show scratches and dust easier than other options which again this has none the seats front and back are quite nice and i really enjoy these lower leg extensions however these uppers they're just a little bit too wide for me i have no complaints about the infotainment system i actually really like how it integrates carplay but keeps volvo specific features available let's talk power though because that is the most interesting part of this wagon we have two numbers here 415 and 495. that's horsepower and pound feet of torque now how this car makes that power that's the best part with volvo t8 typically means plug-in hybrid twin charged engine you have a two liter four-cylinder engine in the front making horsepower powering the front wheels there's also an 87 horsepower electric motor powering the rear wheels plug in for a full charge of the battery you'll see about 22 miles of pure electric only range so the meat of driving this car comes down to the suspension it has fully adjustable on shocks front and rear with 22 levels of adjustment the closer to zero you go the stiffer you are and vice versa now the fronts are fully exposed under the hood for your tinkering however the rears are a little bit more complicated to get to you need to jack up the car so both rear wheels are off the ground take a cap off the strut and then you can adjust it just like the fronts now regardless the steering in this car is great it's light enough that doesn't tire your arms out in the canyons but it's heavy enough you can still feel what's going on with the tires now brake feel and stopping power is also really good on this car as you would expect since the front rotors are 14.6 inches with four drive modes you have options on how you want to drive you have constant all-wheel drive you have pure which is electric only you have hybrid and you have pole star engineered now each mode has its intended use but i feel if you leave it in hybrid throw it in b you'll have the best overall driving experience now i know what you're saying what is b did he mean to say d no d is your standard driving mode when you select b the energy created using engine braking is fed back into the battery so you can gain some electric mileage while cruising around town volvo says it works especially well while going downhill now this is the most difficult part of this review the price the v60 t8 comes in just shy of 69 000 now that's a lot of money for almost anybody now the question is are there better options in this segment well there aren't actually as the plug-in hybrid sports wagon is pretty niche it's about as niche as you can get so in reality if you want one well here it is you should really pick up before volvo changes its mind and stops making them volvo knows they're only going to sell 25 of these and you should definitely be one of the 25. yousails be damned volvo says wagons and sedans will both have a place in its lineup so we decided to take a look at volvo's
