Asus ROG Zephyrus GA102 laptop is a beast when it comes to gaming performance and power. The system was running at 165 degrees Celsius with the turbo profile on, which might seem like a lot but it's actually within spec. However, I have to admit that I felt uncomfortable when CPU temperatures passed 90 degrees Celsius, even though the laptop didn't feel extremely hot to touch. One thing I did notice was that the heat blowing out of the back and right side of the laptop opened was quite noticeable.

The laptop is well built with a decent keyboard and a large 90 watt hour battery. The only downside is that replacing the memory sticks or adding a second NVMe SSD can be a bit tricky due to the different sizes of screws used. If they could stick to just one size, it would make things much easier for the user. Speaking of which, I did notice that there is space for an even larger battery if you get the 48Wh model instead, and that's great news for users who want more power on the go.

One thing that disappointed me was Asus' decision to use the Y55 chip instead of a Wi-Fi 6 chip. I know it's not a huge deal, but I would have preferred an Ethernet connection or at least a decent Wi-Fi 6 chip. Thankfully, you can easily replace the Wi-Fi chip yourself for around $20-$30, depending on where you live.

The laptop also features a 144Hz IPS panel, which is pretty standard for gaming laptops these days. While it's not the most impressive display I've ever seen, it does have nice viewing angles and feels fast enough to play most games at high resolutions. The adaptive sync technology included in the display is also a great feature that helps reduce screen tearing and stuttering.

In terms of performance, the laptop packs a punch when it comes to gaming and content creation. It's not the lightest or thinnest laptop out there, but it's well-built and feels solid in my hands. The speakers are also surprisingly good, making them perfect for watching movies or playing games with friends.

One thing I will say is that the display could have been better if Asus had opted for something more suitable for content creation. While it's great for gaming, it's not ideal for photo editing or video production. That being said, the laptop still has plenty of power and features to make it a great option for creators on a budget.

The ROG Zephyrus GA102 is also available in a 240Hz IPS version, which would be better suited for content creation. If you're looking for that, I'd recommend checking out the RRGG 15 instead, even if it means spending more money.

In conclusion, Asus has done an impressive job with this laptop, packing plenty of power and features into a relatively affordable package. The ROG Zephyrus GA102 is definitely worth considering if you're looking for a great gaming laptop that won't break the bank. While there are some minor drawbacks, such as the display not being ideal for content creation and the lack of Wi-Fi 6, these can be easily overlooked in favor of the laptop's strengths.

I will say that I'm still a bit worried about availability and pricing in other regions, so it's worth keeping an eye on those if you're interested in purchasing this laptop. As it stands now, however, the ROG Zephyrus GA102 is definitely one to consider, especially if you're looking for the most bang for your buck.

money as possible now while asus positioned the rog g15 in a bit of a higher price bracket and it is a bit fancier this a 15 is pretty much the most value oriented gaming laptop with a new AMD cpu and we know the raw performance of these CPUs and other laptops but the question here is how well will it perform combined with the strong and video GPU in an affordable chassis now this is pretty much the top spec version and it comes with a risin 740 800 H it has an RT X 2016 on max-q GPU 144 Hertz IPS panel one terabyte nvme SSD and a 90 watt hour battery so these specs are pretty incredible considering the fact that this laptop costs 1199 or $1200 in the US now keep in mind you can get a more affordable version so for example if you go for the gtx 660ti again non max-q and a smaller SSD it will cost you less than $1000 so that's pretty great I'm not sure what the pricing is going to be here in the EU but I'm hoping it's going to be in the same ballpark so yeah this laptop is pretty much one of the most if not the most interesting affordable gaming laptop you can find currently on the market but it's not perfect and there are still some things to consider before just running to the store and getting one for yourself so let's begin this video is brought to you by DL got o key light err now you probably think key lights are made to make your streaming setup look more professional but did you know it's also great for your plants they just thrive in that soft lighting that can be easily adjusted using your app or your stream duck love your plants by Elgato the new tough laptop is available in two designs either black with a brushed look or more clean gray like I have right here that has a coated top layer to stop it from soaking up fingerprints now you can still see some but the combination of the material and the lighter shade really prevents it from looking dirty the moment you touch it I'm not a huge fan of the tough logo I have to admit it looks a bit outdated and a bit like a stamp but if I had to choose between this or a brushed metal that I have to wipe every time I touch it I would choose this one it is not the most compact of laptop designs but it's still relatively portable and not too heavy standing at 2.3 kilos so it's still something you can just drag to school or to the office the hinge feels really good there isn't too much flex in the panel and it's really easy to open with one hand the inside is plastic but again it feels sturdy with only a tiny bit of a flex and most importantly all edges are really nicely rounded so nothing feels sharp and uncomfortable it reminds me a bit of the Zephyr as g15 except that the tough does have a webcam built-in but it did lose the dedicated volume and software buttons now those are really nice to have but using the function key instead is not a big deal either the keyboard on this laptop is really nice as well there is a nice amount of travel more than on the g15 and the actuation isn't too light I had no problems getting used to this one and I'd say it's excellent both for typing and for gaming unlike the g15 there is also a numpad included and I personally cannot live without one and the keyboard is RGB now there is no color mixing just one color at a time the touchpad is pretty good as well I mean it's still a touchpad and any touchpad is really hard to love but it feels smooth and the palm rejection is mostly good I also preferred that it comes with dedicated buttons so while gamers will still want a good Mouse next to this laptop it is alright for day-to-day use connectivity is alright considering the price on the left side there is an Ethernet connection hdmi 2.0 B there is two USB three type-a ports and a one USB 3.2 gen2 type-c port with the DisplayPort 1.4 support on the right side there is a single USB 2 port there is no SD card readers no Thunderbolt support and the right USB port probably should have been used B three instead of USB too but I think gamers looking to buy something affordable should really find this more than enough when it comes to performance considering the fact that this laptop uses the risin 740 800 H and at the slightly lower power HS model we can see it actually performs really well it adds a line and it's roughly on par with the bravo 17 in cpu performance alone do note that it comfortably leaves Intel Core i7 10 750 H models behind in all multi-core benchmarks as this is an 8 core CPU now gamers should be very happy to because unlike the previous Rison CPUs the current generation removes the CPU bottleneck and less the r-tx 2060 in my model perform as expected it is going head-to-head with the Intel based GS 66 that has the same GPU which means that you can comfortably play any game at Ultra or at least high settings in case of extremely demanding games like Assassin's Creed Odyssey for example it is also fair to assume that if I'd have a tough with a gtx 660ti we should expect gaming performance to be very similar to a 10th gen until machine using a GPU as well and that isn't much different from an RT X 2060 actually but that is invidious problem not something cases can really do much about then again if you go for the RT X option it will let you play minecraft RT X later this year and it will let you use the LSS 2.0 which sounds very promising on paper so that makes RT X 2060 an attractive upgrade perhaps the most impressive result here would be the battery life because this laptop completely destroys the Amazigh brava 17 Intel based GF 65 but also leaves the rog G 15 comfortably behind it lasts over eight and a half hours if you just watch Netflix at 118 its and that would probably be even more if you just play h.264 files from your own drive instead so that is just great just remember you still want to plug it in for gaming as performance will suffer and your battery will still go out quickly if you're using your r-tx 2016 they remember that in some of the cheaper tough models you get a smaller 48 what are a battery instead of the 90 what our battery that I've tested here so you should expect close to the half of the battery life that you see here in the graphs another nice feature for everyday use is the fan stop which I also saw on the g15 in idle or light use you cannot here the laptop at all which makes it even nicer to use for school or work of course in heavy CPU loads or gaming the fans will have to spin aggressively and you'll hear the laptop work although it's still not as loud as some of the other laptops I've seen so far even the g15 was a bit louder while gaming thermals are pretty much in line with the alternatives with the CPU sitting at around 95 degrees and the GPU at around 80 when using the turbo profile this is within spec but I can't help but feel a bit uncomfortable when CPU temps past 90 degrees Celsius at no point though it really feels hot to touch but you can still feel hot air blowing out the back and the right side of the laptop opening the laptop is not hard at all only a couple of screws stand in the way of cleaning out the fans replacing the memory sticks or adding a second nvme SSD unfortunately hide it under this SSD probably in hope that I wouldn't notice but thankfully if you really want a Wi-Fi six chip you can grab an ax 200 for about twenty dollars or twenty euros and install it yourself pretty easily the 144 Hertz IPS panel is also a bit so-so but that's pretty much what you should expect when you are looking at an affordable gaming laptop I mean it has nice viewing angles it feels and looks fast enough it has adaptive sync included it also has a decent support if you connect it to an external display but the color gamut is just barely mediocre and pretty much like we've seen on the Bravo 17 and the G 15 and the other results like contrast and maximum brightness are mid-range as best now this is not something you should worry about as a gamer so I can give it a pass considering it's meant to be a gaming laptop but when you consider this laptop has all the power needed even for serious video and photo editing it still ashamed as a display stops it from being this serious option for creators on a budget if that's what you're looking for you should look into the 240 Hertz IPS version of the rodg 15 instead kudos to Asus for using a pretty decent SSD and not the cheapest and vme option and there are also speakers that are actually pretty alright to watch a movie or two now the gamers will still want a headset but you cannot really expect a really awesome audio from a laptop especially at this price so that about covers it for the Asus tough a 15 laptop and it's pretty impressive as well I mean it's not a thinness or the lightest or the sexiest of laptops out there but it's really well built it has a really pleasant keyboard to work on and to game on and it has a really amazing battery life on top of that you get a lot of CPU and GPU horsepower for a very low price so just a reminder this one is tops packed and it will cost you $1,200 in the US and you can also go for a cheaper version that is under $1000 so that's pretty impressive it means that all the other alternatives out there like Bravo laptops for example will have to drop in price a lot to be able to compete with this one and you even have to consider really hard and think really
