Boot Up Time Comparison: PowerBook G4 vs Mac Pro

Hey guys, how are you? Dave here, obviously I was just streaming live on Ustream.tv, thecreativeone, and my viewers have requested that I do a boot up time comparison of my IMAX 3 versus my PXG 4. But I couldn't really compare them since they're too far apart and I ran into some complications with the power and stuff. It's a long story, however, I figured the next best thing is a boot up um time slpress contest race whatever you want to call it of my PowerBook G4 versus my Mac Pro.

My PowerBook G4 is 1.5 GHz, 1.5 gigs of RAM, and my Mac Pro is an Intel Zeon dual processor dual core, so four cores of 2.66 GHz of Intel goodness with only one gigabyte of ram because I still have to upgrade it and I'm broke lately cuz I'm in college but I will be upgrading it this summer guaranteed because I can't wait. There's like stuff flying in front of me, so um I would like to do um like a little boot up race of them. I mean obviously the Mac Pro is going to win but I just want to show you guys this U speed comparison if you're thinking about getting an either power PC or Intel Mac.

So as you can see here is my power book G4 and my Mac Pro is in there, you can't really see that but it's h up to this um 23 in apple Cinema display which I love this thing's beautiful but that doesn't really have anything to do with this. So all right so I can't really turn them on at the same time but I'm going to try my best so here we go, I'm going to boot up the power G4 to give it kind of a fair start oh and somebody recommended that I run a little stopwatch on on the iPhone, so I'm just flipping this screen on my monitor okay. So let's go a clock widget and I'm still going that's okay, I'll clear it 141 hours okay here we go ready, I will press start as soon as I press the power book G4 S start a button and then I'll race over there and do the Mac Pro.

Ready oops yeah all right the Mac Bros is coming on there we go the Mac Pro had a little delay but it's like impossible for me to turn them on at the same time not impossible but how it setup is and as as you can see the Mac Pro came on like 5 seconds later and the display is already on power B G4 just got on and you can also see there's a huge difference in brightness we're at 34 seconds on the iPhone and I'm going to stop as soon as the dock appears and I'm going to press lap as as soon as the dock appears on that one and as soon as the dock appears on that one here we go oh done that was fast 40 okay exactly 46 seconds on the Mac Pro Power G4 is still going just chugging along almost there, I'm even logged in the ey chat already well not really but it opened ey chat for me here it comes done okay I'm not really sure but um yeah I I stopped that one at 46 seconds the Mac Pro and the power G4 has 22 seconds but that's cuz I laughed it but if you do 46 plus 22 let's do that real quick 46, 56 I don't feel like doing the math actually I don't feel like messing up so let me just make sure I get this 46 plus 22 68 68 seconds for the Mac Pro so there you go actually it's probably like 22.9 so it's like 69 seconds for the I mean for for the P G4 not the Mac Pro.

So as you can see the Mac Pro turned on 5 seconds later and it's still kicked its butt and it even open applications, cu the P G4 is not set to open any applications all right so there you have it I probably talked a little too much but there you go power PC Mac versus Intel Mac.
