A Bluetooth padlock!

The Current State of Smart Locks: A Review of Dog and Bone's Lock Smart Mini

In today's world of smart and connected devices, a standard padlock simply won't cut it. That's where Dog and Bone's Lock Smart Mini comes in - a keyless Bluetooth padlock that takes the hassle out of those tiny little keys and remembering annoying combinations.

The Lock Smart Mini is available for just shy of $70, and can be purchased in either black, red, or Cult of Mac blue. Along with the lock itself, customers also receive a micro USB charging cable and a card telling them to download the iOS or Android app. Despite its compact size, the padlock looks surprisingly similar to a traditional lock, with a soft rubber coating on the outside to help weather seal it from all the elements.

On the bottom of the lock, one will find the charging port and a wake button, both covered in additional rubber for added protection. It's clear that Dog and Bone has put a lot of thought into the design of their product, as it feels really solid thanks to the zinc alloy body and hard steel shackle. Any thief that tries to rip through this lock is going to seriously struggle.

Out of the box, the Lock Smart Mini does need charging via the micro USB cable provided, but once it's charged, Dog and Bone promises that the battery will stay charged for 2 years or as many as 3,000 opens before it needs recharging. When it does need to be recharged, the lock will let you know via the free companion app.

Speaking of which, the app is well-designed, easy to navigate, and easy to use. It took me less than a minute to set up the lock straight out of the box, thanks to the super simple step-by-step process. The app also lets customers manage multiple locks, so they can use them for securing different things and quickly switch between them. Being a smart lock, it also allows users to share access with multiple users, so if you're out of town and your friend wants to borrow something from your storage locker or garage, you can send them a key via the app.

One of the most convenient features of the Lock Smart Mini is its tracking function. With this feature, you can see when users have been in and out of the room with an activity log. This adds a whole new level of security to the product, as you'll always know exactly who has access to your property at any given time.

Overall, it's clear that Dog and Bone's Lock Smart Mini is a great solution for anyone looking to upgrade their home security system. The product has definitely earned its place in my household, and I'm excited to see where this technology takes us in the future.
