The Paint Job: A Final Touches Section
Kyle is over there playing for tonight, and I'm just going to get this done and then we can have it ready for the next step. We're going to clear coat it, which will give it a glossy finish. So, I've already added one layer of clear, and it looks pretty good. It's almost like touching a little side of the paint, but I'm happy with how it turned out.
I'm using a rattle can for this job, and I have to say, it's not bad. Not bad at all. The gloss is really good, and it's shiny as heck. I've added two more coats of clear, just to make sure it's fully protected. This should give the paint some durability, since we touch up our cars a lot.
For this project, we're using a glossy finish, which will help protect the paint from scratches and fading. We'll let it dry overnight before touching anything else, so we can get a good look at how it turns out in the morning. This should give us a clear view of what we have to work with next.
It's almost time for bed, but I'm going to leave some lights on, just to make sure everything is secure. We've got our project all set up and ready to go, and now it's time to get some rest. Tomorrow, we'll be tackling the minivan, which still needs a lot of work before we can enter the YouTube Car Challenge.
The Minivan Project: A Last-Minute Push
We've been invited to participate in the YouTube Car Challenge, but our minivan is still not ready. We need to put together a catch pan, get the battery mounted, and install a relay on the fuel pump. There's also the issue of a fuel pressure regulator, which will help us avoid any more issues with the fuel system.
I've been talking to Brent about some options for the suspension, and we're thinking of using Accord coilovers to lower the van and improve its handling. This should make it more comfortable to drive, especially since we'll be taking it on a long road trip soon. We also need to figure out how to fit tires on the wheels, which are currently too small.
The challenge is that we have only ten days left before the event, and then we'll have to drive for two days to get there. This means we'll have less than a week to complete all of these tasks and make sure everything is in working order. We're hoping to find someone who can lend us a truck and trailer or rent one, so we can get everything moved without any further complications.
Overall, it's going to be a busy few days, but I'm confident that we can get everything done on time. With a bit of luck and some hard work, we should be able to make it to the YouTube Car Challenge in style.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enfun fact about our house we usually always have rabbits chilling in our front yard there's one out there right now see how close I can get before he takes off it's actually somewhat warm today so I decided to bust the pit bike out it's been a minute it's up the muffler fell off a while back when Jeremy wrote it it's gonna frickin broke it so now it's all wow it knows the welds they gave out yeah better now so Jeremy's gonna put them in some more work on the Civic yeah I've just got pushed back in you got the injured bail power washed out sanded up some rough edges so the paint sticks better yeah so I mean all pretty much I did was just Rick finish up the driver side with the little wire tuck right here are the passenger side sorry I mean the wires ran right through here the headlights and stuffs without my bangs are pretty and we're just letting it dry real quick so we're gonna let the heater blow on it for a little bit while we go to the store and pick up some black paint that we need and then when we get back I want to take off all these parts and pretty much just bring them forward and then mask them all off and then we'll be ready for people put some primer down and then it'll be ready for paint then when I just showed in that last video as he was cutting up some vacuum line and putting it right here so that uh the vibration doesn't like cut through the wires over time because it's just bare metal otherwise actually saw that in the comments someone mentioned that so yeah I mean I was going to do it so you guys just need to you never have patience well yeah we're gonna go run over get some paint real quick and some other things while this thing dries and we're gonna come back and get everything else masked off and get her painted who says you can't daily at nearly 700 horsepower minivan playing that still then change the tires I'm sorry guys sorry just a little can you just enough to cover that one like rough spot on the k-member thing I just have it let me get paint some other car parts yeah we already have all the other colors all the white also I'm gonna get some turtle food for some of the og subscribers that know I have two Turtles now all you guys know for those of you that don't know about my Turtles this is them this is Jimmy it's a Mississippi map and this is pancake he is a softshell turtle you can see why I call them pancake because he looks like a pancake and they know I'm getting ready to feed them so they're getting all excited this guy right here normally spends most of his time under the sand but uh since I gave him some food he came out to eat but yeah he's one of my favorites he's a cool-looking turtle I like how they have this little snout right here got like a little pig nose but they are really cool so yeah not only do we have traveller but we also have these two turtles as well but also a fish got the day all masked off ready for some paint yeah first we're gonna do primer so we're gonna do like say like two and a half maybe three coats of this honestly if not just use the whole can but first we're just gonna do a first layer of just like lightening so it's tacky not the first thin layer of primer on sorry you're looking pretty good still need more though cover it up yeah I think we're just gonna use the rest of the camp because I mean just that there's like honestly it took a lot so we'll just do like a good wet one like to get it all nice and covered and then we'll let that dry for like at least maybe ten minutes because it's such price dragon it's prettier you say cats are so dry to the touch it's already looking way better yeah it's making me want to pull the motor out of the hatch honestly very paint it is yours is next that's the nice one that's the one that you gotta clean it up yup we're ready for a real paint so but you're gonna go gliding first and then just do how we did the primer and go from there see how it looks Stephanie looks better than I did before yeah alright guys we just got the second coat done and it's like pretty much all full coverage now got a better grab we're guy didn't have any weapons yet oh oh oh he knows he's jumping look at him cuz that was right next to he's often around you oh he's right there look oh do that say sir he's gonna die anyway well he's not gonna die but he's getting her right now damn 29 alright guys so I'm about to put the last coat of paint on art that we have left of paint what Kyle is over there playing for tonight I'm gonna just get this done and then so we could have it ready for the next step which is clear and then after that we'll just let it dry overnight just for you guys suck at this game gonna give it like seconds of Lascaux so we'll do one we'll do this one and then we'll do another one and then we'll call it quits it's already looking really good but I just want it for like durability because we touch our cars up a lot so might as well just give it a couple layers here you got any more wipers now this is clearance so I already added one layer of clear and it looked pretty dang gloss parity so that's a driver though yeah let's dress arty glossy mmm-hmm so just add like two more and that'll be it I'll call it for a night looks good now so we got the final coats of clear on engine bake just gonna let it sit overnight to fully dry before we take off any of the stuff we masked off yeah but this pretty much I was gonna look like when I did this last coat like I touched a little side of the paint and it was dry I was a game this is how a gloss it's gonna get so pretty much like how it is that's no I'm gonna stay is pretty dry right now may I still tacky but it's it's gonna look pretty like yeah pretty close really glossy looks good yeah I put some heavy heavy heavy coats I mean not enough till it runs but like like a perfect amount of clear so it looks really good it's shiny as heck that was really good for a rattle can honestly yeah not bad and before in this video we might be doing quite a bit of work on the minivan in the next few days I know we've had a lot of videos about this thing already but we need to get working on it because we have been kind of officially invited to go out to the youtuber car challenge that Rob Freddie is having so this thing still needs some work before we will be able to make it and it's literally only ten days away from right now by tomorrow it's gonna be nine days away and it's also gonna be about a two day drive to get down there if we have to drive down there so we probably have about exactly a week to get this done so I've been talking to Brent some we're gonna see if we can get it ready to go out there but we still need to put a catch pan on we need to get the battery mounted we need to put a relay on the fuel pump and also get a fuel pressure regulator so we don't have any more fuel issues and we can turn it back up to the like high 611 hundreds and we also need to figure out a tire to put on this thing we need some wheels and tires Rob said that I was going to be able to run a radio on this thing out there so I need to get some tires on the way and I need to find two front wheels that will fit a wider radio because these stock ones are only like six inches wide so I'm not sure how wide of a tire I can put on these probably only up to like a 225 and I want to go a little wider than that if we can but we literally only have about a week so it's gonna be a challenge we also need to do the suspension get this thing lower to the ground because it's still pretty sketch on the stock suspension and I'm not about to do a half mile in this van with the stock suspension so yeah we have a lot to figure out on this thing and yeah just letting you guys know there's still no 100% guarantee that we're gonna be out there but we are gonna try so we'll see what we can do but yeah I think first thing tomorrow I'm gonna start getting work done on the van I need to get the battery mounted my head over to PFI talked to Brent about some things and I think he's going to look for some Accord coilovers that he said he had that we can throw on this thing and hopefully those will and just start getting their ready because we literally have only a week and then we have to figure out a way to get down there that's not that's our main concern right now is figuring out a way to get down there we're either gonna have to find someone with the truck and trailer that we can borrow or rent one or something and just find a way to get out there so I guess we'll figure it out hopefully we can make it but that's gonna be all for tonight guys we got Jeremy's Sibbett pretty much done as part of the engine big egos just got through everything back together and yeah it's gonna be it for tonight guys and thanks for watchingfun fact about our house we usually always have rabbits chilling in our front yard there's one out there right now see how close I can get before he takes
