The Art and Science of Lan Parties: A Collection of Stories from the 2022 Winter Edition

As I sit here reflecting on our last lan party, I am reminded of the countless hours that went into planning and executing what turned out to be an unforgettable event. The winter edition was a special one, marked by a unique blend of camaraderie, friendly competition, and sheer joy. From the moment we gathered in the carport, it was clear that this was going to be a night to remember.

The Story Begins

Our lan party began with a sense of excitement and anticipation. As I recall, our team had been preparing for weeks, meticulously setting up our gaming stations and fine-tuning our strategies. We were all eager to put our skills to the test and see who would emerge victorious. But as we settled in and started playing, it quickly became apparent that this was going to be a night unlike any other.

The First Kill

As I watched my teammate take down their first opponent with ease, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. It was moments like these that made me realize just how special our lan party was. We were more than just friends and acquaintances; we were a team, united by our passion for gaming and our desire to have a good time.

The Burger and Watermelon Conundrum

But as the night wore on, things began to take a turn for the unexpected. A debate erupted over whether or not to serve bacon in the burger sandwiches, with some team members passionately arguing in favor of its inclusion. Meanwhile, others were more concerned about the presence of watermelon – or rather, the lack thereof. It was these kinds of moments that reminded us all why we loved lan parties so much: they were a time to let loose and have fun.

The Boomerang and Multi-Boomerangs

As we continued to play and socialize, I found myself marveling at the sheer diversity of our team's gaming preferences. From boomerangs to bacon hats – and even a brief foray into Asian rice patties – it seemed like nothing could bring us down. But then, disaster struck: one of our teammates managed to snag a multi-boomerang that would leave them utterly defeated.

The Slice-Up and The Freeze

In the aftermath of this defeat, tempers began to fray. One of my teammates found themselves the target of good-natured teasing and joking from their peers. It was clear that this was no longer about winning or losing, but rather about enjoying each other's company and having a laugh.

Quality Time and Goodbyes

As the night wore on, we began to wind down and say our goodbyes. It was clear that many of us had been up late, playing games and socializing until the wee hours of the morning. Despite the exhaustion, everyone seemed energized and refreshed, as if they had just experienced a rejuvenating spa day.

The Brunswell Debacle

Just as we were wrapping things up and getting ready to call it a night, disaster struck once again: our friend Brunswell failed to show up due to illness. It was clear that many of us had been looking forward to this gathering with great enthusiasm, and his absence left a gaping hole in the proceedings.

The New Basement Lan Party

Despite these setbacks, we refused to let them get us down. Instead, we hatched plans for our next lan party – one that would take place in my newly renovated basement. This was going to be bigger and better than ever before: new games, new stations, and a fresh new environment.

constantly like open up my panel and and they're so light the bracket yeah little layer i mean like it's not you have crazy dust build up it's just a nice thin layer over here oh too you know what they say like my my internet plan is the extreme pro internet plan download speeds up to 500 right i've never had more than like five yeah if i'm like direct the only thing plugged in i get 250. just wait till you get fiberman i want it so it's worth it centurylink right do you have it i have zipline fiber yeah we have it up there what happened to your computer um so it was working just fine for however long you guys working just fine uh so the the motherboard that's in here has like an easy debug and the yeah the light that's lit up is vga okay and looking up it said it could be like one of three things it was like graphics cards cpu or okay motherboard nice you did some debugging yourself well i mean i was getting able i was able to get to bios but then it wouldn't go past that but there was an error that i found and when i looked up it just said it because it couldn't boot windows let's get you set up on the spare computer for now and then we'll do switching and swapping yeah we'll troubleshoot this once uh margarita get here they set up with our costco and then yeah no worries we'll get it up and running wait what do you mean like he's not responding and he says he's got a fever and he's pissed he has stuff oh no i can't even get it out of my car because i feel like oh he hit the stuff act in his car oh you can't get it out he goes like danny oh no i'll be back all thumbs up on this one it's one of the apples but i mean if everybody else is going to eat them go for it like maybe we could probably get both because they're like seven bucks yeah right so we got we got the fruit situation it isn't good to eat right now yeah i don't know if it'll last there's a typical muffins have you ever what oh this is a chocolate chip with drizzle this one's actually really good i'm definitely yeah grab one of those we're gonna do a poppy don't take a drug test afterwards have we ever done the that like taquitos or the mini tacos we have we've um burritos that looks pretty good taquitos look good what is this one chicken also i have an air fryer and an instant pot so mini tacos these two well the mini tacos are cheaper yeah it's only by two bucks but but they both yeah let's get the those they both they're like the same thing shaped differently right oh i did not know they had tots here how am i supposed to get this thing out when it's a big brick break the box the mochi stuff is on sale for seven bucks which i'm sure these are good mango green tea strawberry let's try the mochi 18 pieces so no dino nuggets so far did we just miss it we must have we're going back i refuse to believe costco doesn't have it like it should be right there right yeah it should be like right here well dang okay so no dino nuggets huh nothing down here wow yeah it would either be there or next to like here i guess do we not have any meals covered we'll get the breakfast stuff at qfc yeah i think we're good we just need dino nuggets do you have just like generic salsas or hot sauces at home for the tacos okay there's lots of different hot sauces actually the total all right let's take you guys so how much was his wraps that's the only thing that you got extra working computer so you can swap parts to pinpoint what the potential hardware issue is i think it's a hardware issue because he's not getting an image and there's nothing software wise not even like drivers i don't think drivers would be something because you're getting a black blank screen screen yeah blank screen yeah so we basically figured out that it was the ssd everything else in casey system is fine so okay well fun times we gotta figure out let's get your computer ready to go you have all the games on a hard drive that i can put on oh yeah yeah i did actually know so my hard drive has a bunch of stuff on it but i don't know i don't think anything lan wise was on an ssd i think i just had like monster hunters in it that's right this has the big this has halo grand theft auto this year that should have all the big things that would be yeah if it doesn't let me know yeah pico park's on there yeah just let me know if anything's missing and we can grab it real quick we started troubleshooting it around like eight something 8 30. it's only 9 40. yeah so that was pretty fast i'd say less than an hour by the time we figured it out and then it was just doing some other tests yeah see if it was usable at all what are you guys making bacon or eggs tater tots and what making a sausage you know that sounds like it all could be eaten with snack food yes it could was loki scratching the door probably before we were about to pass out i heard his i heard food it was like funny when i wake up she's like i'll get up in five minutes you know it's not even on right yeah i mean i'm just gonna put it in there and then start it here's the that's not yourself i don't preheat i don't preheat what's wonderful eating to make i mean it's if you do it perfect if it's if you're doing like a cake or something that you need this is bacon we just cook it so it's regular no i don't cook bacon but i'm just saying like yeah if it's a cake or a certain recipe that needs to be in a
