NVIDIA SHIELD TV PS2 Emulator Test Using PLAY!

The Nvidia Shield TV Console: A Test of PS2 Games

As I sit down to test out some PS2 games on my Nvidia Shield TV console, I can feel a mix of excitement and skepticism. The performance of PS2 games on this device has been a topic of interest for many, but unfortunately, the results are not what I had hoped for.

I've had several requests from viewers to test out PS2 games on this console, and I'm glad to finally be able to do so. However, the reason I haven't done this earlier is because the performance has been a major issue. Many of these games don't even start, and when they do, it's with a severe lack of performance.

One game that I've had luck with is Auto Modista, one of my favorite PS2 games. I'm using the latest Dev build of the Play! PS2 emulator for Android, which has blue coloring that wasn't present on the original PS2. As I boot up the game and select a track to race on, Suzuka doesn't matter about the music, I hop into a GC8, a car I do not want to be associated with Mitsubishi Subaru. However, I've chosen to use it instead.

Last year, I sold my 1998 Twod RS, a car that has been with me for many years. Every single day, I wake up and regret selling it. I have nightmares about it, actually. This is the situation that I'm in, trying to run this game on my Nvidia Shield TV console.

I start the game and let it load for two hours, hoping that something will happen. However, nothing does. The blue screen still lingers, indicating that the game is not running smoothly. It's stuck, and I don't know what else to do with it. This isn't the first time I've seen this happen, and unfortunately, it's a common problem.

One of the games that I'm planning to test out next is Shadow of Colossus. I have a decent PC that can run the game at 60fps 1080p, but I know that the Nvidia Shield TV console won't be able to handle it. It's already stuttering when I try to boot up the game, and I don't expect much better performance on this device.

I've also planned to test out Ratchet and Clank, another classic PS2 game that I love. However, like Shadow of Colossus, I know that the Nvidia Shield TV console won't be able to handle it smoothly. It's not going to be any different for other games in my library either; they're all going to suffer from poor performance.

As I continue testing out these games, I want to hear from you, the viewers. If you know of a game that works well on this emulator, please let me know in the comments below. I'll give it a try and see if I can get some decent performance out of it. In my opinion, the Nvidia Shield TV is one of the most powerful Android TVs available, and it trumps many phones in terms of processing power. However, when it comes to running PS2 games smoothly, it falls short.

I remember playing Ratchet and Clank for the first time when I got it on Christmas release day. It was a game that I loved, and I played every single one of its levels all the way through. The nostalgia is still there, but unfortunately, the Nvidia Shield TV console can't live up to my expectations.

As I come to the end of this test, I want to thank you for watching. This hasn't been an easy task, but it's one that I had to do. The way this emulator works right now, unless there was a crazy breakthrough in technology or development, is not going to change anytime soon. The future holds promise, but until then, the performance of PS2 games on the Nvidia Shield TV console remains a problem.
