How To Laser On Canvas - Jason Vorhees

The Jason Mask: A Test of Technology and Artistic Expression

As I sat in front of my laser machine, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. I was about to embark on an experiment with fire and technology, hoping to create something truly unique and special. The canvas before me, blank and white, was waiting for its transformation. I adjusted the settings on the machine, carefully calibrating the speed and power to achieve the desired effect.

"Okay, guys, it's 1200 millimeters per minute," I said to myself, checking the machine one last time. "Let's do this." With a deep breath, I sent the machine into action, watching as the laser beam danced across the canvas. The result was...well, not quite what I had hoped for. The burning process seemed uneven, and the final product lacked the level of detail I had been aiming for.

I took a step back, assessing my work and considering my next move. "Seven thousand millimeters per second at 85 power," I mused to myself, referring to the settings I had chosen. And, in fact, it was those very settings that seemed to have achieved the desired effect. The image on the canvas was crisp and clear, with a level of contrast that added depth and interest.

As I continued to experiment, I began to think about the types of images I would like to see laser-cut. Would I want to work with more abstract designs, or stick to more representational pieces? Perhaps I could even explore the world of words, using the laser to create intricate typography and quotes. The possibilities were endless, and I couldn't wait to start exploring.

And then, just as I was getting into the zone, disaster struck. A test piece I had been working on suddenly caught fire, forcing me to intervene and put out the flames before they spread too far. It was a setback, to be sure, but one that ultimately taught me a valuable lesson: patience and attention to detail are key when working with fire and technology.

Undeterred, I moved on to my next project, carefully setting up the machine and selecting an image to work with. The result was...mixed. While the overall effect was still pleasing, there were some areas where the laser had burned too deeply, ruining the details I had been trying to preserve. It was a reminder that even with careful planning and execution, things don't always go as planned.

But that wasn't the end of my story. I continued to experiment, fine-tuning my technique and making adjustments on the fly. And slowly but surely, my creations began to take shape. The more I worked at it, the better I became at understanding the subtleties of the laser process, and how to coax the desired effects from the machine.

The moment of truth arrived when I was ready to unveil one of my finished pieces. With trembling hands, I held up a stunning headband that had been cut from a intricate design. It was perfect – crisp, clear, and full of detail. As I breathed in, I caught a whiff of something...pungent. "Does anybody get the reference?" I joked to myself, laughing at my own inside joke.

The world may never know what it is that I'm working with this week, but one thing's for sure: the art of laser cutting is not just about creating intricate designs – it's also about experimentation and pushing the boundaries of what's possible. As I looked on in admiration, I knew that I had only scratched the surface of what's out there.

The Lasers: A World of Possibilities

I've always been fascinated by the world of lasers, and how they can be used to create everything from intricate designs to complex images. From a technical standpoint, it's an incredible process – using light to cut through materials with precision and accuracy. But as I delved deeper into my experiments, I began to realize that there's so much more to it than just the technology itself.

For one thing, laser cutting allows me to explore the world of art in ways that I never could have before. With the ability to precisely control the amount of detail and depth in an image, I'm able to create pieces that are truly unique and special. It's like having a superpower at my fingertips – with just a few simple adjustments, I can transform a blank canvas into something entirely new.

But it's not just about creating art – laser cutting also offers endless possibilities for experimentation and innovation. Whether I'm working on intricate designs or trying out new techniques, the process is always fascinating and rewarding. And as I continue to push the boundaries of what's possible, I know that I'll be constantly amazed by what can be achieved.

Materials: A World of Possibilities

One of the most exciting aspects of laser cutting is the range of materials that can be used. From traditional canvases and papers to more unusual options like foam core and fabric, the possibilities are endless. And as I explored these different materials, I began to realize just how much potential they have for creative expression.

For one thing, laser cutting allows me to work with materials in ways that would be impossible using traditional techniques. Whether it's creating intricate designs on a canvas or adding texture to an image using a foam core backing, the possibilities are truly limitless. And as I continued to experiment, I found myself discovering new and exciting ways to use these materials – from subtle shading effects to bold, graphic statements.

The World of Typography: A New Frontier

As I explored the world of laser cutting, I began to wonder about the possibilities for typography. Could I use the machine to create intricate quotes and phrases? And what would it look like when combined with other design elements?

The answer was a resounding yes – and what emerged from this exploration was truly breathtaking. Using the laser to cut out words and letters, I created pieces that were not only visually striking but also full of meaning and significance. It was as if I had unlocked a new language, one that spoke directly to the soul.

And so, here we are today, with a world of possibilities stretching out before us like an endless highway. The art of laser cutting is not just about creating intricate designs – it's about pushing the boundaries of what's possible and exploring new frontiers. As I look to the future, I know that there will be many more surprises in store for me – and for all those who join me on this incredible journey.

The Journey Continues...

As I looked around my studio, filled with sketches and designs waiting to be brought to life, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The journey ahead would be long and winding, full of twists and turns that I could hardly imagine. But one thing was certain – I was ready for whatever came next.

With the laser machine humming softly in the background, I reached for my pen and began to sketch out a new design. It was going to be something special – something that would push the boundaries of what's possible and take me to places I never thought I'd go. The journey may be just beginning, but one thing is certain: it's going to be an adventure worth taking.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys i'm nick and this is bill dad build and you know what today is it's one of my favorite days of the year it's friday the 13th and you know what that means kids if you're gonna be heading out into the woods with your significant other tonight or any other night make sure you take protection okay guys so originally this was supposed to be an epoxy project i kind of messed up and i had another epoxy project going which will be a future video and i realized that there was no way that i was going to be able to pour cure and all that stuff in time so this is going to be another laser project but it is going to be friday the 13th themed and we're going to be laser engraving on canvas and since it's my first time do you remember your first time gonna have some mistakes along the way stick around and watch me work through the issues i had with this project now let's get to work okay so the first thing we want to do is prep our canvases so here's our canvas here's what we're going to use for our test piece and i'm just going to come in here let's move this over a little bit and you must start and we're just going to do one even coat all the way across then come the other way if you get the edges you probably have to get the edges with the the first color you can probably just do it in a second but i feel like it just looks more finished i figure if anything burns over an edge it might burn through the the top collar so i think it'll look a little bit better if you're off a little bit and this is build that build we are off quite a bit kind of getting the little spots okay now we're gonna let that dry for about an hour and then we're gonna come back we're gonna do the same thing with black one hour later all right it's been about an hour and let's uh spray paint these again okay so we're gonna come into photoshop and the canvases i have are 11 by 14. so we're going to go ahead and pick that size and let's see we should probably do yeah 600 uh dpi is fine and then i'm going to go get my picture this picture is something that i uh i bought from etsy uh as a uh as an svg file and now we're going to select it and we'll take it over to our canvas that we already made drop it in there and this this canvas when i made it i made it in grayscale so it's already made it black and white i'm going to draw it out and it's not going to fit exactly so i end up kind of bringing it big but then i bring it back in and that's only because i didn't want to have a white border on one side and you'll see what we do with that just here in a second but that's in the center of the canvas now play around with it a little bit more and that's not too bad we like it like that so what i'm going to do now is come up here and i'm just going to flip the uh flip the canvas in order to just so i can see it better okay so now that we've got that turned we're just going to take a look at it now the next thing we want to do is invert the image so we're going to head back up to the menu bar and we're going to invert and this is just going to give us a negative because we're going to want to burn out the positive space or the negative space i can remember which one and then we're going to come up let's see we'll uh we'll mess with brightness we'll mess contrast a little bit uh basically anything that's really really dark is going to be is going to burn the darkest through anything that's lighter isn't going to burn through as much after that i'm just going to go into curves and kind of adjust this a little bit this is kind of personal preference more than anything you kind of want to get it to where you've got a decent amount of contrast from there i'm just coming in with the clone tool and the blur tool and just kind of feathering out the edges because we do have kind of a hard line all the way around and since it's since that canvas is going to just be jet black i don't want you to be able to see those edges so uh so clearly and then we're just going to come in and we're going to export it as a png and that's what we're going to pull into light burn to use as our uh our file all right guys so here we have our little test canvas gonna run some tests of different powers of the laser to see which one we like the best this test tile file that i'm about to run is something i got from the edge of tech i'll link to his channel down below go check out his stuff he does some awesome laser work he's definitely michael nerd okay the testile thing isn't working out as soon as the laser come up comes on the the flame detection goes off and shuts the machine down we might just go with his settings for now maybe kick up the speed of the laser a little bit and uh and do like a little test image on on this canvas and maybe like i'm gonna give it a little bit and then judge from there if i need to change it or not okay it is the next day very frustrating day yesterday with the laser not good results and what i've realized it's it was all rookie mistake go figure just noob stuff noob stuff first there are two testiles in edge of technology's download one goes from 100 down to 10 or something like that and one goes from 8 up to 40 i use the wrong one and that's the reason that the uh the alarm clip going off so once i realized the error of my ways i didn't have a small test tile so i went ahead and ran it on the big canvas so this is what that looks like so here like we've got just a slight burn and then we start getting into the red and as you can see like if you can see these numbers that's 12 percent well yesterday i started at like 45 or something and if you look down here we get to 20 percent jump to 30 and 40s burning through the campus so i was going way too high on the power the only reason i wasn't burning through the canvas is because i had the speed set so high but still not a great image and it just didn't turn out well and the second most rookie mistake i made was i forgot that once you get done with the burn you have to kind of wipe it off with uh with a little bit of water to get the ash off there so when i was doing this one i thought i wasn't getting through the black layer to the red when actually i was just burning right through it because it doesn't look nearly as good until you wipe it off this one looks good this one looks horrible but hopefully we have that dialed in now and so here's what we're gonna do darkest burn to be probably right here so 14 i might even i'll probably go 14. because i want the the it looks like the darkest part of the burn is going to be the the jason masks so i want that to be kind of a dirty white so we're going to set it 14 this is this is a test at uh 1200 millimeters per minute so that's we're gonna set the machine at and then we're just going to uh we're just gonna send it man just gonna send it what's up guys it's a day later we are still having a problem with that canvas it's just not burning the way i want it to uh so i'm kind of back to the drawing board in here i ran some tests i don't know if you could see them they were not the best but i did land on what i think is some good settings for this that is 7 000 millimeters per second at 85 power check this out i also changed the image uh just because i thought i had an image that had a little bit more contrast it wasn't going to be so muddled so check this out it looks so much better already i'm stoked laser rain watcho i don't remember the words of that song laser all right it is moment of truth time we're going to come in here we're just going to brush this off all right guys before we get to the results i just wanted to uh say thanks for sticking around i've raised the glass to you a little little little whiskey finish here thanks for sticking around i really appreciate it if you haven't subscribed yet consider subscribing if you dig the vibe of this channel if you don't you don't but still hit the like button and i would also like to thank all of my patreon members you guys are the bee's knees especially my top tier patrons or boilermaker patrons steven mann eric weiss derek coates chuck faulkner puffy muffins zack z and andy the viking the highest of clinkies kids all right and now on to the results so this just turned out poorly so this is the this is the test piece that i was kind of testing on the fly it shut up here i turned it over burn it up it's just the detail is not very good there and of course like we burned too deep so mistake or opportunity number one number two and this one so i was still burning too deep and didn't realize it but the thing that sucks about this one is the alarm did go off in the middle i think i've got that fixed now by the way but it went off in the middle and i guess when i was trying to reset it i bumped the canvas i shifted over right here so once i realized that i mean we just i just stopped it and now on to the good result at first i wasn't super stoked with this because i thought it kind of needed a little bit more detail but the more i look at it the more i dig the fact that i can totally tell what this is a picture of with that limited amount of detail like it's the detail is is spot on as far as i'm concerned look at that so good and we finally got our laser dialed in i think i could i think i could have burnt a little deeper but i would hate to have like tried to do another pass and ruin this i just think maybe i probably should have adjusted the contrast a little bit more before i started the print but dude this is like i don't know if you can see this i i mean it kind of shows up on camera but like you can see the outline of his hand it's just it's just faint and to me that's what it makes it cool looking so good all right guys that's gonna be it for this one if you have any ideas for things like materials you want to see lasered or i guess images even that you want to see laser uh go ahead and leave those down below i'll kind of keep a running tally and the next time i put a laser video uh we'll you know we'll try to get to some of those if they're cool if they're not cool we're not doing them but until next time thanks for playing and now i gotta get to work dip dip dip did the dog in the lawn did the dog on the lawn check one two check one two i like big butts and i cannot lie i like big butts and i cannot lie not a butt man just test out this testile file he's definitely my kind of nerd all right let's get to burning wow that stinks so this is the headband that i ran with this morning and i forgot i was gonna be shooting this intro so um it smells like sweat and uh and whiskey rock the casbah rock the caspar kareem don't like it is it kareem sharim i can't remember stinks so good whoosh stop you're hurting me does
