The World of Diesel Trucks: A Journey of Upgrades and Modifications
As I sit here with my trusty duramax diesel truck, I'm reminded of how far it's come since its purchase. The initial stages of ownership were marked by frustration and disappointment, as the previous owner had left a trail of debris and neglect in their wake. The fender flares, which were once a gleaming silver, now bore the scars of years of hard use and abuse. The bubbling bed, the cracked tail lights, and the rusted wheel rims all served as a reminder that this truck needed some serious TLC.
The journey began with a visit to Rough Country, who kindly sent over a few goodies to get my truck off to a good start. A new bed mat, floor mats, and a bed cover were just a few of the items they shipped my way. I was excited to see how these would fit into my plans for modifying the truck. The removal of the fender flares was a bittersweet moment, as it revealed the true extent of the damage that had been done to the vehicle's exterior. Despite the imperfections, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for the upgrades that lay ahead.
The decision to upgrade my truck's interior came next, with new floor mats being installed in the bed and a fresh coat of paint on the walls. The old tail lights were replaced, and a new flag mount was added, complete with a shiny new LED light bar. It's amazing how much of an impact these small upgrades can have on the overall appearance and functionality of the vehicle. And then there's the matter of the truck's wheels – which had been scraped up to within an inch of their lives – were in dire need of replacement.
The plan was to upgrade to 22-inch wheels, but I'm not entirely convinced that this is the right call. The added height will undoubtedly make the truck even more imposing on the road, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Perhaps it's better to stick with what we have and just enjoy the ride. After all, there's something to be said for having a truck that sits low to the ground – a quality that seems lost in today's world of oversized SUVs and trucks.
As I gaze out at the road ahead, I can see a future filled with upgrades and modifications. A new grille is on the way, along with a front end kit designed by TMS Diesel. The bulletproofing will undoubtedly be a game-changer, giving me peace of mind when hitting the dirt roads that are so dear to my heart. And let's not forget about the brakes – an entirely new system is coming, complete with pads, rotors, and all the rest.
My goal for this truck is simple: to make it fast enough to rival my BMW i8 in the quarter mile. It's a lofty ambition, perhaps, but I'm determined to see it through. After all, there's something special about having a tool that you can rely on to get the job done – whether that's hauling heavy loads or just cruising down the highway.
As I look around at my truck, I'm reminded of why I chose this vehicle in the first place. It's not just a mode of transportation – it's an extension of myself. A reflection of who I am and what I do. And as I prepare to embark on this journey of upgrades and modifications, I know that there's no turning back now. The world of diesel trucks is my domain, and I'm ready to take on whatever comes next.
In other news, a new update will be coming in next week – one that will see me tackling the electric mini cooper build with renewed enthusiasm and dedication. It's going to be an exciting journey, and I'll be sure to share every step of the way with you all. Until then, stay tuned for more updates from my workshop, where the world of diesel trucks comes alive.

in relation to gas let's have a little fun here though let's estimate there's about 5 000 batteries in your average tesla there's over 1 million on the road that's at least 5 billion lithium ion batteries now the lithium in every single one of those batteries was mined by a diesel truck and you know what when the car is done you know how that tesla gets to its owner the tesla semi haha just kidding the tesla semi has successfully delivered four cars so far but the other million are all on the backs of diesel trucks so everything that you can see and touch right now you thank a diesel truck and its driver they keep america running go hug a trucker buy him or her one of those rotating hot dogs from 7-eleven so diesels are so cool i bought an am general military humvee because it reminds me of my brother it's a badass truck but i never really talked about it it was during the time i was deep into doing tesla projects and i was too scared to introduce a non-electric project because i caved to the threats of people on the internet so i just occasionally mentioned it on instagram at richiebeekid and i did a few videos going over the truck draining the water out of the portals adding new gauges installing a grounding kit oils and fluid changes a lot of humvee cool maintenance stuff but i never released the video series because everyone at the time threatened to tie me up so i did nothing now the humvee is a badass truck and has low end torque for days but it can't tow anything that's right if payload capacity is crazy because it's the troop carrier and she could fit 15 men inside of her which reminds me of a video i watched you today but it's dog slow it has 150 horsepower and 0 to 60 time of never because the top speed is 55 and at 55 it starts screaming because it's only a three speed transmission it has a big frame but not enough power this is why people do a special little trick called a duramax swap now a duramax is general motors diesel engine but the full swap is 38 000 and after all that i still have a truck that needs thousands to make it tolerable so i was in the hunt for another truck my old tacoma could only tow 6 500 pounds i tried to go higher but the wheel fell off the humvee can't tow anything and go over 11 miles an hour so i need something that can pull my rs7 which weighs near 5000 pounds by itself as well as tow my humvee when it eventually breaks down and i make it electric i wanted a truck that represented america powerful obnoxious extremely large size and noisy i needed my neighbors to know that i can tow 15 000 pounds if i wanted to but i don't because i don't know what i'd be towing that weighs 15 000 pounds i need a truck that's so crazy it makes lots of noise even when performing the most basic of tasks i need a truck so high that i can fall out of it and break something i need a bro-dozer now why a diesel well i recently changed my fleet over to forced induction vehicles the i8 turbocharged the rs-7s turbocharged so why not drive a turbocharged truck let's look for a diesel now now there's three options that matter the dodge cummins ford power stroke and chevy's duramax all which sound like things you put on your little eggplant but because i'm a chevy fanboy i'm gonna stick with duramax so i went on the internet i did some digging on facebook and they're slowly dying craigslist and learn something about diesels that i've never knew they are expensive like ridiculously expensive if you want a truck to pull a house well it's the price of a house these people want top dollar for these trucks right so i went to my favorite website www.iai.com and look at some trucks there and of course i used the discount code save 50 for half off registration to bid on some awesome vehicles and i started my search for a truck now i wasn't scared of one that needed a little bit of work but i figured to reduce my carbon footprint i didn't want my new diesel truck to be delivered by another diesel truck again that's just too much badassery for one day so i went local because that's good for the environment right but you know it's not good for the environment this custom crocodile skin interior in a tesla model s how this person drives this car i have no idea but they also have the matching super fashionable leather boots now that's not my style personally i choose to wear sustainable sneakers like my besties they're 100 vegan and it feels like i'm wearing a pillow on my feet and because i'm naturally hazardous having waterproof shoes is crucial for me especially when i'm constantly spilling fluids all over the place like engine oil coolant or transmission fluid or my adorable puppy in training using my ankle as a fire hydrant but come on look at the face anyways they're easy to keep clean in case i step it as number two which i would just throw in my neighbor's yard anyways and if you have kids they're also really good at staying dry in case you get into an impromptu water fight at the car wash no matter what happens just know that your socks will always be dry it's not even thanksgiving but unlike me black friday sale came early check out besties crazy black friday sale before they sell out if you missed it use code rich for the hookup thanks bessie for sponsoring this episode so i got on facebook marketplace and found this gem the worst photos for a facebook ad i've seen in a long time it was dark confusing but a guy was selling a 2009 gmc sierra duramax with 194 000 miles for less than 25 grand which is pretty rare around these parts now this version puts out 365 horsepower but get this 660 pound feet of tire shredding torque so i drove two hours my tacoma to buy a trailer to pick this baby up that down there i wonder why i couldn't get it off i saw the truck and it's a beast it's lifted loud and obnoxious i fell in love with it almost immediately i loaded my little princess toyota tacoma up on the trailer i floored the truck and the duramax did something i've never seen or felt before the truck spun the rear wheels while pulling another truck let that sink in i love this thing and i want more let's go get my rs7 all right i feel like a kid in the candy store man this is a big deal uh there's only my new truck right now picking up the rs7 uh from auto couture and uh we're gonna see what it looks like this is the new color change i get all my cars wrapped here so thanks again uh automotive especially wraps are doing it for me but uh i'm super nervous it's like a blind date kind of thing glad i got this truck because now i could actually pull this thing back with me uh because my tacoma just wasn't powerful enough man but uh we'll see what she looks like in a second that looks good man holy that's a good-looking ass car man jesus yeah they didn't do a good job with that at all hell i don't know what they did either and i actually it was so bad look the tint the ticket line they tinted it down to here wow no joke yep so like all the things it's like what like why why are you going that low well sometimes i'll do a double brow so one on top one on the bottom there's just the sliver technically your windshield is not tinted when you get pulled over right you still have a visible space oh christ on a yeah no it was it was it was a nightmare and these windows like i don't know what percent this is but it's so dark i could barely see my uh my windows it looks like walmart it's like purple actually yeah i gotta show you the uh there's a sample of it what color is that that's purple purple for sure maybe it was purple so imagine a big purple line it was it was this i couldn't do it no i couldn't do it but ignoring that wiring those things it's a badass truck traction bars six inch lift i'm gonna probably take the mud flaps off i'll probably take these not the mud flaps the flares off um like how long these have been on here it's probably gonna up the paint underneath probably like help me help me yeah right they just rub on these so i'll take those off i want different wheels for it i don't like this bumper i'm probably going to not have that color anymore i'll get rid of the chrome um new headlights yeah i know those looks they're pricey though but they're nice not bad 15 grand that's not bad it's got a nice stance to it nice stance it's not it doesn't it doesn't squat like when you pull up to lesser trucks they know they know the alpha is here in there yeah it's a little yeah they did it go the rear doesn't work though again everything you see here is as-is and then your custom sound system also dude the reader didn't work so i had to put a sub again the rear did not work so i got to put this like old sony speaker in here large living large baby living i don't want to flex but you know that's how i roll that's a big system kind of a big deal all right so i'll um let me drive the car on can you help me you can help me just guide it on i'll just strap it up and then you'll be on our way dude the thing halls man oh yeah i i yeah it's my my new favorite i'd say people love big ass i was driving this thing oh my god it's like yeah all right oh you wait you got a programmer yeah it's all right it's already tuned aha okay uh yeah the red paint man what a i bet you that's the stroke kit did you buy this off of a 17 year old the dog could fit in there yeah the problem will crawl in there oh biscuit don't do it i had a feeling something different was going to be in the driveway besides the mini i mean i knew about that because i replaced one diesel for the other diesel well now now we can officially take the motor out of the hummer because now you have another diesel drive yeah yeah it's time to electrify oh yeah everybody wants it everybody everybody wants it absolutely and now i can transport the hummer yes notification how do i move it yeah now i can get that photo oh yeah he's got the strobes in here too i didn't see that yeah yeah all right so after these cars pass you give her a little goose and see what she can do but she's uh she's literally on e though like i know so we can't go too crazy but it's like super easy like real eat like real like whoa i know she's already below the thing you're just freaking out uh yeah sure i think i scared somebody i think you scared someone too you scared me i mean the gas light's been blinking for a while but it takes diesel and diesels are pretty efficient so you should be okay well i'm glad you're here because yeah i'm pushing this thing along but you hear how loud and knobby those tires are they're loud tires so the first thing i want to do is tire yeah service the tire monitor system i want to get rid of all this red crap because i hate this you like this this looks like it's like lipstick like put lipstick on it black and red is so sick really i love it yeah okay so i won't like what are you gonna change it blue i won't let you style this truck probably just black or like silver i'll find my black um and then i'm gonna fix these buttons but yeah these brakes are black yeah they'll break something this needs a lot of maintenance it was neglected for a long time i would surprise you so window tints are not legal breaks are pretty garbage go on and we're on e yeah um anything else just take a right never ever ever get a break with this guy she's not a jump i need a step stool yeah i know you're really gonna take this out i'm thinking about it yeah i don't like them that much yeah well that'll do it alright so the 4x4 stickers are gone the running boards are off and those rain guards are out let's have some fun and do some stupid truck stuff with it all right that's enough truck shenanigans and sister jokes right now we're gonna head to a place called tms diesel in where new hampshire i'm not a diesel specialist but they are they're going to show me everything the truck needs and probably everything i just broke on this shenanigan trip and we're going to start planning the next phases for the upgrades and maintenance this truck is going to need ideally at the end of the day i want this truck to be faster than my i8 want to check this thing out if i got a good deal on it or not i think i got a good deal on it he might not think so uh we did some uh rough with it earlier uh going on the trail and took him some rocks and stuff and going uphill and the truck started throwing codes like crazy so zach's gonna fix everything free of charge so i'm glad we're here yeah yeah it's discount day so you just throw in that fuel filter codes but all that chips are that's clogged right or the injectors are wasted on it so it has 194 000 miles on it so just we'll just change the filter okay that's right there it's a little bit painless to get to but okay all right awesome yeah yeah i got tons of money yeah can you let me know when we're over ten dollars please so we just did some uh some mild mudding i call it sanding yeah more standing yeah we do some standing around so you might see some excess sand in here but from what i saw it doesn't look horrible in terms of rust under here no it looks pretty decent um a lot of these you see a lot more rust in there yeah there's a lot of factory undercoating that's still on here you see it kind of peeling a little bit here this filter looks like it's the dirtiest thing and i don't know when this was changed last if it ever was changed just wait till they rot out and change i don't so that's the uh for the transmission that's just an external filter there's also another filter on the inside okay um they're not as regular veneerable as like oil change like the oil filter up here some people change it every 5 000 or 7 500 miles trans filters can be 30 000 or 60 000 depending on the manufacturer i'm assuming it was never done i'm gonna go i don't know this was never done on this at all this one might be because it's a hastings filter that's on it usually it's like an ac dell core there's an allison transmission filter that would go on there and then how about the the sludge i don't know where that's coming from so a lot of this looks like it's coming up higher so there's some power steering lines up higher could be seeping steering gearbox is uh wet with some oil there okay so it could be either right above this because the power steering pump is above that but sometimes the uh where the steering shaft was in the input of the steering gearbox that steel can leak which looks like it might be leaking a little bit on this the front pad here starting to get a little low okay um and like you said it's a it's a lifted truck bigger tires but it doesn't help yeah it's funny i stopped better with the trailer on it to have the trailer breaking yeah right behind it yeah yeah thanks trailer are you regretting it yet the decision no not yet i'm getting close though the rears seemed like they were a little stiff like i don't know if like the slides on the calipers are getting a little hung out um it's like this one's harder to shift around than the front ones rolled a lot easier all right um so there could be something starting to go on with that yeah but as far as like uh you were asking earlier with the rust it's like the underside of the body looks it looks pretty really good yeah um the frame like since the factory undercoat undercoating starting to come off a little bit but other than that so i heard the uh the tie rods on these cars are notorious for so i've heard things so here's the thing with the tie rod so here's the tie rod right here yeah you got inner and the outer um if you notice it doesn't look very big no and that becomes part of the problem with these especially a lot of people see it like if they're truck pulling or like drag racing with it because you put it in four wheel drive right so the front tire is trying to drive forward so it puts a lot of inward pressure and they just snap and they will they necessarily snap but they'll bend oh yeah okay so they make different things they make like a sleeve that goes over these or there's another company kryptonite that makes a much beefier tie rod or steering system but all together that reinforces everything and you were talking about you're breaking too like if you look at this rotor here you can see yeah little spots in there that are like nicks that are starting to rust a little bit and that's gonna if it doesn't already down the road's gonna cause like the steering will start to shake because oh no it does it does that now yeah and who knows that's not super surprising as far as that it's got three inches of rock going up there see that's that looks nice no that one's good they painted it made of rocks oh ah there's the herpes yeah yes this one doesn't look too old but oh that's all the water's in the fuel yeah so the water's uh heavier so it'll sit down on the bottom right and the oil rises to the top and then you would um yeah you would drain it and it would stop but there's a little like a level sensor in there kind of like a fuel gauge yeah a sending unit and it floats obviously on water um you're gonna drink that i might yeah it's a gatorade 10 bucks shot we'll leave it here we like to do that put them in gatorade balls and we know then yeah oh i i got the diesel oh i'm dead if you look down on the bottom of there you can see a couple pieces of particulate down in there oh i see way down in there yeah yeah yeah wow you're missing that big d on the back too yeah you need a giant sticker what's the oh for diesel where's your truck nuts too you're gonna put those on truck nuts trust me big brown ones huge yes i guess that's it right okay so here is where we are presently with the duramax uh rough country was really nice to send me some really cool stuff they sent me a bed mat they sent me some floor mats and and a bed actual cover i've never had a bed cover on any of my trucks before and that's gonna go right there to hide all my crap in there so i removed the fender flares and i'm actually glad that i did it's more of a bittersweet thing because these fender flares weren't in the greatest shape anyways uh the person that owned it before worked for a cement company and there's a lot of dried cement on these there's a lot of rocks and pitting and just overall crap i'm not really interested in having on the truck but if you can see here there is bubbling in the bed there's also a flag mount um i have the new tail lights coming into by the way uh but this side is even worse this side it's you know look at that that really really sucks so the the limit is what do i do do i replace the entire bed do i just actually get the sheet metal bed side and put that in i'm not really sure um i don't really show why i let steven convince me to ruin my wheels either but these wheels are all scraped up so i do want to potentially get new ones i'm thinking of getting 22s but that's going to bring the truck even higher uh and i actually like the height that it sits at right now considering i have no more running boards but overall this is it i'm in the process of replacing all of this stuff the new floor mats are going in the bed liners going in the tow mirror that's broken i have a new set of those coming in i have the new headlights coming in uh they're black housing headlights and right here on this fender that's all screwed up they should be shot for that i don't really know what to do about this i'm thinking just do i just repaint the whole damn truck i i i don't know what to do uh the new grille is coming uh and i have the uh the bulletproof uh front end kit coming in that uh tms diesel uh recommended to um uh to me so that's coming too this is gonna be more of a project truck there's gonna be a lot of upgrades you're gonna see on this truck uh the brakes are also coming in too i have an entirely new brake set up coming forward the wheels sorry pads rotors that's coming but this is going to be more of a of a long-term kind of passion-ish project i want this truck to be fast and the reason why i don't mind spending money on the truck is because it's a tool for me i mean the rs7 is cool uh the i8 is definitely cool but the truck is what i'll be using probably most of the time it's gonna be carrying around like a lot of heavy stuff i'll probably be daily driving this honestly because believe it or not i always have crap in the bed of the truck i always have something that i'm doing in the back or something that i'm actively working on that needs to be lugged around as you can see remember in previous videos i actually used to have a roof rack on the i8 and the even the i8 did it did its job um you know for helping me out but this is an actual tool i'm going to be using goal is to have this truck run faster in the quarter mile than my bmw i8 remember the i8 ran a 12-2 and i want this truck to run at 12 2 or better in the quarter mile so we'll see what it can do but either way thank you for watching and i will see you guys next week with uh more than likely an update on the electric mini cooper build i'll see you guys youpublic service announcement the top four don't know what they did either and i actually it was so bad look the tint the ticket line they tinted it down to here wow no joke yep so like all the things it's like what like why why are you going that low well sometimes i'll do a double brow so one on top one on the bottom there's just the sliver technically your windshield is not tinted when you get pulled over right you still have a visible space oh christ on a yeah no it was it was it was a nightmare and these windows like i don't know what percent this is but it's so dark i could barely see my uh my windows it looks like walmart it's like purple actually yeah i gotta show you the uh there's a sample of it what color is that that's purple purple for sure maybe it was purple so imagine a big purple line it was it was this i couldn't do it no i couldn't do it but ignoring that wiring those things it's a badass truck traction bars six inch lift i'm gonna probably take the mud flaps off i'll probably take these not the mud flaps the flares off um like how long these have been on here it's probably gonna up the paint underneath probably like help me help me yeah right they just rub on these so i'll take those off i want different wheels for it i don't like this bumper i'm probably going to not have that color anymore i'll get rid of the chrome um new headlights yeah i know those looks they're pricey though but they're nice not bad 15 grand that's not bad it's got a nice stance to it nice stance it's not it doesn't it doesn't squat like when you pull up to lesser trucks they know they know the alpha is here in there yeah it's a little yeah they did it go the rear doesn't work though again everything you see here is as-is and then your custom sound system also dude the reader didn't work so i had to put a sub again the rear did not work so i got to put this like old sony speaker in here large living large baby living i don't want to flex but you know that's how i roll that's a big system kind of a big deal all right so i'll um let me drive the car on can you help me you can help me just guide it on i'll just strap it up and then you'll be on our way dude the thing halls man oh yeah i i yeah it's my my new favorite i'd say people love big ass i was driving this thing oh my god it's like yeah all right oh you wait you got a programmer yeah it's all right it's already tuned aha okay uh yeah the red paint man what a i bet you that's the stroke kit did you buy this off of a 17 year old the dog could fit in there yeah the problem will crawl in there oh biscuit don't do it i had a feeling something different was going to be in the driveway besides the mini i mean i knew about that because i replaced one diesel for the other diesel well now now we can officially take the motor out of the hummer because now you have another diesel drive yeah yeah it's time to electrify oh yeah everybody wants it everybody everybody wants it absolutely and now i can transport the hummer yes notification how do i move it yeah now i can get that photo oh yeah he's got the strobes in here too i didn't see that yeah yeah all right so after these cars pass you give her a little goose and see what she can do but she's uh she's literally on e though like i know so we can't go too crazy but it's like super easy like real eat like real like whoa i know she's already below the thing you're just freaking out uh yeah sure i think i scared somebody i think you scared someone too you scared me i mean the gas light's been blinking for a while but it takes diesel and diesels are pretty efficient so you should be okay well i'm glad you're here because yeah i'm pushing this thing along but you hear how loud and knobby those tires are they're loud tires so the first thing i want to do is tire yeah service the tire monitor system i want to get rid of all this red crap because i hate this you like this this looks like it's like lipstick like put lipstick on it black and red is so sick really i love it yeah okay so i won't like what are you gonna change it blue i won't let you style this truck probably just black or like silver i'll find my black um and then i'm gonna fix these buttons but yeah these brakes are black yeah they'll break something this needs a lot of maintenance it was neglected for a long time i would surprise you so window tints are not legal breaks are pretty garbage go on and we're on e yeah um anything else just take a right never ever ever get a break with this guy she's not a jump i need a step stool yeah i know you're really gonna take this out i'm thinking about it yeah i don't like them that much yeah well that'll do it alright so the 4x4 stickers are gone the running boards are off and those rain guards are out let's have some fun and do some stupid truck stuff with it all right that's enough truck shenanigans and sister jokes right now we're gonna head to a place called tms diesel in where new hampshire i'm not a diesel specialist but they are they're going to show me everything the truck needs and probably everything i just broke on this shenanigan trip and we're going to start planning the next phases for the upgrades and maintenance this truck is going to need ideally at the end of the day i want this truck to be faster than my i8 want to check this thing out if i got a good deal on it or not i think i got a good deal on it he might not think so uh we did some uh rough with it earlier uh going on the trail and took him some rocks and stuff and going uphill and the truck started throwing codes like crazy so zach's gonna fix everything free of charge so i'm glad we're here yeah yeah it's discount day so you just throw in that fuel filter codes but all that chips are that's clogged right or the injectors are wasted on it so it has 194 000 miles on it so just we'll just change the filter okay that's right there it's a little bit painless to get to but okay all right awesome yeah yeah i got tons of money yeah can you let me know when we're over ten dollars please so we just did some uh some mild mudding i call it sanding yeah more standing yeah we do some standing around so you might see some excess sand in here but from what i saw it doesn't look horrible in terms of rust under here no it looks pretty decent um a lot of these you see a lot more rust in there yeah there's a lot of factory undercoating that's still on here you see it kind of peeling a little bit here this filter looks like it's the dirtiest thing and i don't know when this was changed last if it ever was changed just wait till they rot out and change i don't so that's the uh for the transmission that's just an external filter there's also another filter on the inside okay um they're not as regular veneerable as like oil change like the oil filter up here some people change it every 5 000 or 7 500 miles trans filters can be 30 000 or 60 000 depending on the manufacturer i'm assuming it was never done i'm gonna go i don't know this was never done on this at all this one might be because it's a hastings filter that's on it usually it's like an ac dell core there's an allison transmission filter that would go on there and then how about the the sludge i don't know where that's coming from so a lot of this looks like it's coming up higher so there's some power steering lines up higher could be seeping steering gearbox is uh wet with some oil there okay so it could be either right above this because the power steering pump is above that but sometimes the uh where the steering shaft was in the input of the steering gearbox that steel can leak which looks like it might be leaking a little bit on this the front pad here starting to get a little low okay um and like you said it's a it's a lifted truck bigger tires but it doesn't help yeah it's funny i stopped better with the trailer on it to have the trailer breaking yeah right behind it yeah yeah thanks trailer are you regretting it yet the decision no not yet i'm getting close though the rears seemed like they were a little stiff like i don't know if like the slides on the calipers are getting a little hung out um it's like this one's harder to shift around than the front ones rolled a lot easier all right um so there could be something starting to go on with that yeah but as far as like uh you were asking earlier with the rust it's like the underside of the body looks it looks pretty really good yeah um the frame like since the factory undercoat undercoating starting to come off a little bit but other than that so i heard the uh the tie rods on these cars are notorious for so i've heard things so here's the thing with the tie rod so here's the tie rod right here yeah you got inner and the outer um if you notice it doesn't look very big no and that becomes part of the problem with these especially a lot of people see it like if they're truck pulling or like drag racing with it because you put it in four wheel drive right so the front tire is trying to drive forward so it puts a lot of inward pressure and they just snap and they will they necessarily snap but they'll bend oh yeah okay so they make different things they make like a sleeve that goes over these or there's another company kryptonite that makes a much beefier tie rod or steering system but all together that reinforces everything and you were talking about you're breaking too like if you look at this rotor here you can see yeah little spots in there that are like nicks that are starting to rust a little bit and that's gonna if it doesn't already down the road's gonna cause like the steering will start to shake because oh no it does it does that now yeah and who knows that's not super surprising as far as that it's got three inches of rock going up there see that's that looks nice no that one's good they painted it made of rocks oh ah there's the herpes yeah yes this one doesn't look too old but oh that's all the water's in the fuel yeah so the water's uh heavier so it'll sit down on the bottom right and the oil rises to the top and then you would um yeah you would drain it and it would stop but there's a little like a level sensor in there kind of like a fuel gauge yeah a sending unit and it floats obviously on water um you're gonna drink that i might yeah it's a gatorade 10 bucks shot we'll leave it here we like to do that put them in gatorade balls and we know then yeah oh i i got the diesel oh i'm dead if you look down on the bottom of there you can see a couple pieces of particulate down in there oh i see way down in there yeah yeah yeah wow you're missing that big d on the back too yeah you need a giant sticker what's the oh for diesel where's your truck nuts too you're gonna put those on truck nuts trust me big brown ones huge yes i guess that's it right okay so here is where we are presently with the duramax uh rough country was really nice to send me some really cool stuff they sent me a bed mat they sent me some floor mats and and a bed actual cover i've never had a bed cover on any of my trucks before and that's gonna go right there to hide all my crap in there so i removed the fender flares and i'm actually glad that i did it's more of a bittersweet thing because these fender flares weren't in the greatest shape anyways uh the person that owned it before worked for a cement company and there's a lot of dried cement on these there's a lot of rocks and pitting and just overall crap i'm not really interested in having on the truck but if you can see here there is bubbling in the bed there's also a flag mount um i have the new tail lights coming into by the way uh but this side is even worse this side it's you know look at that that really really sucks so the the limit is what do i do do i replace the entire bed do i just actually get the sheet metal bed side and put that in i'm not really sure um i don't really show why i let steven convince me to ruin my wheels either but these wheels are all scraped up so i do want to potentially get new ones i'm thinking of getting 22s but that's going to bring the truck even higher uh and i actually like the height that it sits at right now considering i have no more running boards but overall this is it i'm in the process of replacing all of this stuff the new floor mats are going in the bed liners going in the tow mirror that's broken i have a new set of those coming in i have the new headlights coming in uh they're black housing headlights and right here on this fender that's all screwed up they should be shot for that i don't really know what to do about this i'm thinking just do i just repaint the whole damn truck i i i don't know what to do uh the new grille is coming uh and i have the uh the bulletproof uh front end kit coming in that uh tms diesel uh recommended to um uh to me so that's coming too this is gonna be more of a project truck there's gonna be a lot of upgrades you're gonna see on this truck uh the brakes are also coming in too i have an entirely new brake set up coming forward the wheels sorry pads rotors that's coming but this is going to be more of a of a long-term kind of passion-ish project i want this truck to be fast and the reason why i don't mind spending money on the truck is because it's a tool for me i mean the rs7 is cool uh the i8 is definitely cool but the truck is what i'll be using probably most of the time it's gonna be carrying around like a lot of heavy stuff i'll probably be daily driving this honestly because believe it or not i always have crap in the bed of the truck i always have something that i'm doing in the back or something that i'm actively working on that needs to be lugged around as you can see remember in previous videos i actually used to have a roof rack on the i8 and the even the i8 did it did its job um you know for helping me out but this is an actual tool i'm going to be using goal is to have this truck run faster in the quarter mile than my bmw i8 remember the i8 ran a 12-2 and i want this truck to run at 12 2 or better in the quarter mile so we'll see what it can do but either way thank you for watching and i will see you guys next week with uh more than likely an update on the electric mini cooper build i'll see you guys you\n"
