PS4 vs Xbox One Episode 6: Games

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4) had a competitive year in 2015, with both consoles offering strong games that catered to different types of players.

For the Xbox One, one of the standout titles was Halo 5: Guardians, which is considered a solid installment despite its campaign being marred by a familiar story. On the other hand, Forza Motorsport 6 took racing games to new heights with its massive library of cars and customization options. Graphically, it stood out with a full 1080p resolution and nearly flawless 60 frames per second.

Another notable title for the Xbox One was Rise of the Tomb Raider, which had a very Uncharted feel to it. Although not perfect, it offered epic action sequences and a fun game that looked impressive. The PlayStation 4 also had some big titles last year, including Until Dawn, which was an interactive movie-like experience that kept players on the edge.

On the other hand, Bloodborne was a hardcore game that adhered to old-school principles of difficulty and style. While not forgiving, it offered a serious sense of style with giant monsters and a Victorian-inspired look. Additionally, Fallout 4 showed its age but still had an incredible world and voice acting upgrade, making it a great sequel to the original Fallout 3.

Destiny was another multi-platform game that held up well across the board, despite some sparse new content lately. It offered satisfying gameplay with serious replayability, especially when played with friends. Star Wars: Battlefront also stood out as a fun multiplayer-focused game with a mix of Battlefield DNA and other elements.

Just Cause 3 showed its limitations in certain areas, such as choppy frame rates during intense action sequences. On the other hand, Grand Theft Auto V was the perfect example of how to deliver high-performance games on both consoles, thanks to its improved performance compared to previous generations.

Lastly, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 built upon the familiar formula that has defined the series in recent years. The multiplayer remained a big selling point for players, and while Xbox One had initially received DLC before PS4, this did not affect the overall experience. Titanfall was also worth mentioning as a great shooter, even if it had aged slightly.

Other exclusives like Sunset Overdrive showed that the Xbox could still deliver fun games with unique styles, such as Sunset Overdrive's focus on having fun without worrying about anything else. On the PS4 side, indie titles like Rocket League and Resogun proved to be incredibly enjoyable experiences, especially with their fast-paced gameplay.

The PlayStation 4 ultimately took the win in this comparison due to its additional power, which enabled it to deliver more stunning graphics and run third-party titles at higher resolutions or better frame rates. With exclusive deals and a more diverse lineup of games, the PS4 stood out as the clear winner for this generation.

This concludes our analysis of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4's offerings in 2015. As always, we appreciate your feedback and encourage you to catch up on previous episodes if you've missed any.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enAfter five episodes the PS4 and Xbox One aretied so it’s time to settle things by lookingat the games. The Xbox One had a solid 2015with some seriously awesome exclusive titles.Halo 5: Guardians was probably the biggestand while Halo isn’t as big as it once wasthis is a solid installment. The campaignis a bit of a sore spot though, the storyjust doesn’t do it but it feels familiarand Halo on the Xbox One has never lookedbetter. There’s also Forza Motorsport 6which is one of the best racing games outthere. It builds on Forza 5 with a massivelibrary of cars and serious customizationto really fine tune your vehicles. Graphicallyit’s on point with a full 1080p resolutionand a nearly flawless 60 frames output, pairedwith the meticulously detailed cars it’san impressive title. Another big Xbox Onetitle is Rise of the Tomb Raider, it’s asemi exclusive with the PC version just beingreleased and a PS4 edition coming at somepoint later this year. It has a very Unchartedfeel which isn’t a bad thing at all, there’sa lot of epic action sequences and while itdoesn’t have the greatest mechanics it’sa fun game that looks impressive. The PlayStation4 also had a few big titles last year. UntilDawn was a surprising hit, it’s almost moreof an interactive movie than a traditionalgame but as a big fan of Telltale style gamesI’m not complaining. The story looks justlike a normal horror movie but the outcomeis entirely up to you, all of the characterscan live or die based on how you play. Asa PS4 exclusive it might not be a system sellerbut it’s definitely worth a look. Bloodborneon the other hand is very much an old schoolhardcore game. It’s not forgiving in theslightest, once you die you’re going rightto the last checkpoint to make your way backto the enemy who killed you. It’s got aserious sense of style too with an old schoolvictorian look and some giant monsters you’regoing to enjoy dying to over and over andover. There are also some big non exclusive gameslike Fallout 4. While it feels a little datedit’s very much a sequel to the incredibleFallout 3, the world is massive and the additionof voice acting is a nice upgrade. Destinyis another multiplatform game that holds upwell across the board, while new content hasbeen a little sparse lately it’s still asatisfying shooter with some serious replayabilityespecially if you have a few friends to playwith. Star Wars: Battlefront is another funmultiplayer focused game, there’s definitelysome Battlefield DNA which shouldn’t bea surprise but it’s a lot more than a simplereskin. There is some exclusive PlayStationcontent but the biggest difference is in resolution, the Xbox One tops out at 720p where the PS4has a more acceptable 900p. Just Cause 3 isa massive open world sandbox that’s a lotof fun but shows a bit of weakness. The Xboxis utilizing a lower 900p resolution but bothconsoles see slightly choppy frame rates whenthe action picks up. That doesn’t stop itfrom being a fun game but it’s clear thePC is the best platform for this one. Thegrandfather of sandbox games though is definitelyGrand Theft Auto 5 and thankfully here performanceissues are nowhere to be seen. It runs wellon both the Xbox and PS4, it’s a massivelyimproved experience compared to the last genand the game world is easy to sinkhours and hours into. This is about as closeto a must have game as this generation has.You can’t talk about console games withoutmentioning Call of Duty and Black Ops 3 isthe latest installment. At this point CoDis very much a formula, each version buildson the last year’s release and this is nodifferent. That might not be a bad thing though,it keeps some of the best shooting mechanicsout there and the multiplayer is still a hugeselling point for picking up the game. Whilethe Xbox has usually been the best Call ofDuty platform this time around the PS4 getsDLC before the Xbox. There are also a lotof solid, slightly older exclusives like Titanfallfor the Xbox One. This might be my favoriteshooter out there, as an early Xbox titleit shows it’s age a bit but still feelsfresh even in 2016. The Last of Us Remasteredmight just be an updated version of a PS3game but it’s easily one of my favoritesof all time. It runs much better on the PS4than the last gen so if you’ve never triedThe Last of Us you owe it to yourself to giveit a try. Another Xbox exclusive that flewa little under the radar is Sunset Overdrive. This game absolutely doesn’t care aboutanything besides fun and it definitely doesn’thurt that it’s one of the better lookingXbox games even after well over a year. ThePS4 has also got quite a few cool indie titlessuch as Rocket League. This has been a massivesuccess that’s finally getting an Xbox releasesoon but it’s got such fresh and fun gameplaythat it’s hard to pass up. Resogun was aPS4 launch title that’s a fun twin stickshooter that’s great for a quick blast thatreally doesn’t look bad either. While itmight not be on par graphics wise Nidhoggis awesome, it’s a straightforward gamethat’s super fast paced and supports twoplayers easily, this is a great example ofan indie title that’s on PC, PS4 and noton the One. While the Xbox had a solid 2015for games the PS4 is looking almost unstoppableright now. The additional power means thatit can deliver some seriously nice lookinggames and when it comes to third party titlesnot only does it usually run them at higherresolution or better frame rates but thereare more and more exclusive deals for thePlayStation. As close as this comparison hasbeen games really are the most important factorfor any console and the PS4 has the clearadvantage, giving it not only the win forthis episode but making it the overall winnerfor this generation. This series has beena couple years in the making so if you guysenjoyed drop a like on the video and feelfree to catch up on the first five episodesif you missed them. Anyway, thank you guysso much for watching and I will catch youin the next one!
