A Day at Hennessee: Tires, Drifting, and Auto Revs
As I arrived at Hennessee, I was greeted by the team who would be helping me with my car's maintenance. We started discussing the tires that were to be removed from the vehicle, and I considered buying them directly from the company. However, we came up with a better idea - swapping out the existing set of tires for brand new Michelin Cup Twos. The Cup Twos are known for their exceptional performance on cars like my 4GT and GT500 models, which also feature the same fitment options.
The team began working on removing the old tires, and I was excited to see the process unfold. As we waited for the new tires to be installed, we took a moment to discuss the Dark Horse, a unique aspect of my car that had been generating buzz online. One reason for its limited functionality was due to the manual shifter in the middle of the vehicle. This made it impossible to auto-start the car from the key like some people expected.
To demonstrate this feature, I took out my key and attempted to start the car using the auto rev button. However, since the manual shifter was in first gear, I couldn't get the car started that way. I realized that I needed to switch back to the automatic mode by pressing lock double-pressing the lock button. The team explained that this was a feature unique to cars with an automatic transmission.
After some trial and error, I finally managed to activate the auto rev functionality, which brought out the car's tester light. This allowed me to test the automatic start-up process and confirm its proper functioning. With the Dark Horse now fully functional, we moved on to other aspects of the day's activities.
Next, I took my car for a spin on the dyno, where it produced an impressive 420 horsepower. The readings were spot-on, matching our expectations of the car's performance at the crankshaft. I also got the chance to take my car out for some launches and timing tests, which yielded exciting results. However, I must admit that using the drift brake was a bit tricky due to the tires' sticky compound.
The team also arranged a drifting session, which allowed me to test the car's capabilities on different surfaces. While I didn't quite master the art of drifting, it was still an exhilarating experience. As for the donuts, let's just say that using them can be a bit tricky due to their tendency to explode if debris gets stuck in the tire.
As the day came to a close, I wanted to express my gratitude to the team at Hennessee for their hospitality and assistance. Despite some minor setbacks, we were able to get my car back on the road and make the most of our time together. With this wrap-up, I'd like to thank everyone involved in making this event possible.
And that's it for today's article. It's been an eventful day at Hennessee, filled with laughter, excitement, and a healthy dose of adventure. As always, I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my experiences with you, and I look forward to our next encounter. Until then, stay tuned for more updates from the world of motorsports!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwell that was a blunder we're not going anywhere today it is time to Unleash the Beast we're here at Hennessy in Texas with my new Ford Mustang Dark Horse the 2024 manual na8 Mustang but today we're going to have some fun with this hi guys I'm shme hello and welcome back to the channel on a very muggy humid day it's probably going to pour down but the plan is to take the new shim mobile to Hennessy's Dyno to find out the stock power of this thing and to go out to the track area to go and have some fun we're also going to check out the 10-speed Auto version that they're working on as well this day is going to be wild at this point I'm pretty sure that my dark horse is one of the highest mileage customer cars in the entire world delivery started about a month ago we picked this up about 2 weeks ago from Pat Miler and Ford in Detroit it's since been to ceramic Pro Chicago for the installation of kavaca paint protection film so I only picked it up 7 or eight days ago and we've since driven it from Chicago to Florida to here in Texas and we have just over 2 and 1 half th000 miles on it we're in the company of some pretty cool cars here we have the new Mustang GTs we also have Hennessy's Dark Horse amongst many other muscle cars to talk about today as we're going to dig into this a bit more one thing about this though my car has the Dark Horse handling pack which gives you a stiffer suspension setup and it gives you the plli trao RS tires these don't have a whole lot of tread on from new they have even less tread now in fact they're not going to last a whole lot of time still from this point forwards so we probably need to dyo it before we go out and burn them up a little the last time I came here was with my GT500 that also coincidentally had about 2,500 mil but we've got to talk about this this is Hennessy's Venom 1200 GT500 carbon fiber track pack with an extra 50% % power more than 50% power 1,200 horsepower this is finished in the iconic Heritage Livery only 66 to be made this thing's super cool I'm a little bit envious of that right now that was the Beast of the previous gen Mustang but there's a lot of intrigue about the new one what did they do on the dinos Autos manuals mine being the six-speed trch which is a rarer option and that's why I'm super intrigued to test it out today a huge selling point of this car for me was the fact that in the current time Fords still offer it with a naturally aspirated V8 and a six-speed manual it's actually a different gearbox and a different state of tune to the regular 5 L Mustang 480 horsepower and the normal six-speed with the upgrade to the sixspeed from Trac and 500 horsepower officially in the Dark Horse but we're going to touch more on that 20 horsepower difference in just a moment come with me though as we step in here because look at that the shifter in the center the clutch pedal in the foot well we've got these animations on the displays in fact one of the coolest things right now is down there the mileage 2514 mil already on a customer car for sure there'll be testing cars that have done more I'm sure some other customers have also done a lot so far but I feel like I've done a good effort there let's get it started it sounds amazing we've got various different driving modes we are going to go through these a little bit today so I can show you and explain a little bit more about it all we've got normal if we go down to sport then into track this is where it opens the exhaust in fact with the Mustang button just here you can see some of those displays when it loads up the screen you get a different display on the main primary dashboard listen to this stock exhaust absolutely crazy crazy sound from this thing but let's take it round ready for the dyno so that we can start playing with this and figering it all out this thing just sounds mean we'll get it out over onto the track area here at Hennessee they have a drag strip a whole load of track space and you can drive around and have a bit of fun they very kindly allowed me to come out today to bring this and share a bit more of the story because obviously they are developing some pretty extreme kits for these things we're talking supercharger 800 plus horsepower some very exciting stuff that's going to be coming soon these are the dinos and in a second they will pull this car through and um at the moment we'll talk about placing bets in a minute to what it's going to be we'll find out surely really we'll find out in a moment we are expecting the worst with the weather today at the moment it's all over the place this thing actually probably one of the first times I've seen it on the Move rather than being at the wheel looks Mega an evolution from the S550 as they came up to the s650 the new version of course based on the same chassis but the Dark Horse handling pack dialing things up a lot in comparison with what they had before anyway we're going to take some bets on the numbers strap down then Jason how are you good how you doing all good you've DED a new Mustang uh we have done a dark horse yes so you've had a dark horse you're automatic yes differences between Auto and manual um in terms of horsepower usually about 10 to 15 U but the new automatics are getting closer by the day so interesting so perhaps this is my my guess is this is going to diner around 420 something like that 4:15 420 at the at the wheels I would say so yeah um it's a pretty humid day today so yeah just a little bit yeah our uh weather's not working for us but it'll probably be around there yeah all righty so a little bit more strapping down do you have to put the car in any particular modes with the Mustangs um you just have to turn off the advanced track so you just press and hold the uh traction control button y um for about 5 seconds until that gauge fills up and that's how you turn it completely off um usually if there's anything else once it notices that the rear wheels are spinning the front ones aren't it'll disable all that and all the check on and that disables it all anyway so oh usual right well looking forward to this we'll see what it does in a moment yeah so one neat trick for the newer Mustangs is you can turn off all the ABS and stuff prematurely just the hood pop it open we can see the uh have a quick look at the V8 yeah and the to nice yeah the Dark Horse adds that stut brace across the top uh there's this connector here just unplug that and all your safety enes are off that's it yeah that's almost dangerously easy yeah I mean chose you do with that information is up to you we are fired up and ready to enjoy some sound of this you always run the Dyno in the gear closest to one: one gear ratio closest to 1 to one obviously on the 10-speed Auto that's a fair few higher than it will be in here um but yeah let's bring it on that sounds awesome I think it's go time this is about to get angry and mean exhaust vals opened this is loud wait for it that is insurd it's so cool oh the downshift of the rev matching what do we got then so $419.99 for 420 on the nose mhm that's cool we bang on what we expected exactly 372 58 TS I mean it sounds about right and that accounts for atmosphere humidity atmosphere conditions humidity uh barometric pressure all that sort of stuff so spoton interesting I mean kind of not a surprise it's it's it's spot on all the newer cars are pretty consistent with all their different compensations they have so you're going to get the same power output pretty much all over makes sense and sounds Mega hard to believe that is a completely stock exhaust setup just in track mode yes in track mode track mode sounds the part thank you for doing that that little switch epic so we overlay this with our automatic that we did um a couple months back um on a much cooler day on our other Dyno that isn't all-wheel drive so they generally is a little bit higher but as you can see the torque curves pretty much overlay completely so the Autos are uh getting all as good as the manuals nowadays doing what it should do way less humid on that day that's cool so what out of Interest what gear is that running in so the auto was done in six this was done in fourth yeah makes sense significantly about 120 roll speed on the dino yeah cool it's time to pull the car back out because Hennessy's drag and track area is awaiting us out we head then this is Hennessy's proven ground literally right here on site it's amazing we're in track mode which means we can open things up but we've got the Perimeter Road and the drag strip and start to just unleash this a little bit more the word of the day I think now that we're running now that the car is ready to be driven and enjoyed use some more of the revs I kind of feel like today is the day we open up with it because up to this point we've pretty much just been on highways I've got to be honest we've basically just driven Highway roads the occasional pull on an an entry ramp or exit or something like that little bit of a bump just here a this thing sounds nasty in a good way up through some of the revs we've got those 305 wide front tires basically threw rubber at the problem to get more grip the auto rev matching is on the big corner here at the back which when we've got into the flow of things we can start to have some fun with and then when it opens up down the drag strip up to the red line 110 M an hour or so 500 horsepower obviously 420 at the crank 500 is the at the crank sorry 420 at the wheels it's a confusing one because in Europe we tend to use a calibration factor to reverse engine engineer the crank horsepower and those are the numbers that the the dinos give you as opposed to here where it's always measured in wheel horsepower itself so obviously lower than the manufacturer claimed output hence the 420 500 discrepancy that you get I always find that fascinating but being here and starting off gently lightly having some fun with it I mean okay yes it's quite a heavy car but it's got a lot of go and I love having this trch it's like the follow-up to the Mac 1 from before a bit the Mac 1 a bit the Shelby GT350 with the new Dark Horse this new badge this new model in the line up and it's a whole lot of fun drop the gears throw it in the steering is surprisingly good and that is of course thanks to having the uh Dark Horse handling pack in the setup I mean the Dark Horse is better stiff stiffened and more sportily sprung than the standard car to begin with and then the handling pack takes it even further so it's one thing to put your foot down all the way to the floor down the straight the red line kind of creeps up on me a bit Yeah 113 or so just in that but that's not the only fun I want to have today we've got a car here with some pretty funky bits of software some different track apps and modes acceleration timer brake performance the drift brake and we need to play around with a little bit of it I've got a lot to test here so firstly we're going to turn advanced track off the traction control you can one press and you get the handling mode or press it all the way and that's kind of your traction basically off then in the track apps we've got acceleration time a brake performance lap time a launch settings shift indicator drift brake which will get to line lock will get to launch control and rev matching I haven't tried a launch control this is literally my first one so with launch control enabled how does that work yeah it holds the revs at about 2 and a half thousand that's interesting so let me give it a go right hold the revs at 2 and half th000 and go okay slightly bogged down but oh that sounds cool I love that pop on the shifts okay so that's the launch control it works safe to say I try it once the other way that's literally the first time that I've done it in this car working it out as I go which is always quite an interesting challenge because these systems can get very very very complicated so let me give it one more go come to a standstill launch control is engaged I think it stays on pop it into gear in fact it shows me a little spaceship rocket next to the RPM indicator there you can probably change the RPMs ooh holds the RPM at a set point ready to use with traction control off with traction control on maybe we try traction control on it's a different graphic fascinating okay so we're in first gear ready go oh it gave a little bit of a kick before being ready to go I even think it sounds slightly different whether you've got traction on or off how interesting back to the start then so this time around I want to give the line Locker worldl so press the line lock okay this is where I know there's a procedure but I'm going to do the best I can hold okay to initialize line lock firmly apply breake and hold then you will press okay to engage and then light up the tires okay I'm not going to do that too much cuz I quite like my tires that got very Smokey very quickly but was really cool jokes after that success let's pop it into the acceleration timer you've got a/4 mile igh mile 0 to 60 let's try 0 to 60 start time automatic drag race lights track race lights let's do track race lights oh and then you press Start oh no pressure or anything and it's still showing me the line lock display okay I want to actually turn off line lock first oh it is off okay good acceleration timer start uh press okay on the steering wheel to start the timer okay how does that work three oh this is cool with the lights just like an F1 grid that's awesome aome no way no way was the acceleration that quick I love this PR okay for options I can try it again or exit it oh this is super cool the different screens and things in here this is really cool given it only took this long to get to 60 this way hey we know we can do it back again the other way so from here let's repeat track app press okay to start it does the lights get the revs wait for the wait for them all to go out go is that really 3 seconds it must have the first roll out or something 3 seconds wow that's really cool I don't quite know exactly what I'm looking at but it's really cool this is where I'm going to be an absolute hooligan or at least try to now we don't need any specific apps we've got advanced track off I think we just need to give it a whole load of Welly um in this little area here and see what happens so give it some revs let the clutch out get it into the spin there we go I'm pulling funny faces I know but that was fun right let me get this right slow it down get ready to Chuck it you can tell it's holding the power back a bit there but that is so much fun you definitely get a different sound if you have advanced track off you get more of this pop on the shifts let's try the other way I always prefer everybody always has a direction that they prefer to slide a car compulsory check before we go too far how are we with tread actually we're completely fine obviously the tires are going to start looking a bit worn at some point they're going to need changing but um that's what you're supposed to do with a car like this have fun be a bit Larry enjoy it and I now want to try the uh drift Brak so let's see how this goes I did have it an advanced track off and I've tried this in regular traction and it already feels a little bit like it wants to go now I just think you need to be a bit more confident than I'm being today partly because I don't want to spin off into the lake here or into the Verge or something that's going to cause a lot of damage but it's fun to give it a go I'd love to be a professional but I'm not I'm just a hooligan with a Mustang in a closed private area having some fun into second gear let's really Chuck it no no no idea what I'm doing a I tried this is way harder to slide around probably due to fat sticky rubber than the GT500 does kind of make sense but still I want to wanted to try B oh goodness me I think you need to take off the trao rs's if you want to have some fun sliding this don't get me wrong a professional can no doubt do it I'm not a professional I'm just an Enthusiast driving my own $7 something, car that I don't want to stuff and I'm trying things like donuts easy in fact we can rock straight back into a doughnut given I've turned advanced track back off well that was a blunder we're not going anywhere today that's going to be fun I guess I know what my lunchtime plan is these are quite hot obviously to figure out some new bits of tires uh let's head back to base and start working on a plan here well this is a first a first for me I have never dammed a tire like this before but you can see under here pretty much the whole of that strip here has gone not all the way around but uh a good chunk of it so before we can drive anywhere we need a new set of rears the replacement tires definitely a little bit carry away but it was fun and that's what it's supposed to be with a car like this but before this journey is going to be able to continue we're going to need to fix that little one and at this moment in time with this car being so new and this fitment not exactly being readily available not entirely sure how that's going to go we will work it out shortly fast forward and we've got a lot to talk about this that car that's now running and the other Dark Horse that's now here this is the automatic which means it's the car that has the auto rev function this this this has been interesting as you can tell it's been raining um we've been trying to get to the bottom of this and normally you wouldn't expect a tire to delaminate around the middle like that but the guys here actually have seen it before on another tire so it's clearly a thing with the trao RS technically we could order a new set of rear but they're very hard to find and it might take a couple of weeks and that's obviously a problem when you're on a road trip and you're about to depart to the next location I was toying with the idea of could I just buy those tires from them but we came up with another idea which is what we're going to do um and the guys here are very kindly helping me with ordering and getting everything these tro rs's are going to come off the car forget them front and rear all done finished we're going to put on a completely new set of tires uh a set of Michelin cup twos I love my cup twos they're on the 4GT the GT500 tons of my other cars the same fitment are available all around so we're going to swap those out put the cup twos on my car and then um at least it'll be good to go it obviously means that's not going to happen today but that's not too much of a disaster cuz we've got another stop nearby and we can come back and get the car tomorrow this is going to be a souvenir that goes back to the museum so problem solved on that front let's talk about the Dark Horse for a moment because on my car a lot of people say why haven't I shown you guys the auto rev functionality and there's one very big reason cuz this has been going pretty viral all over and that is is because of the manual shifter the fact that we have a gear stick in the middle of this car means that if you've turned it off in first you can't auto start it from the key like you can in my GT500 um you've never been able to auto start a manual car from the key for obvious reasons so you will notice that is my key this is the automatic car's key there is a difference with the buttons that it has on it because you can lock it double press It beeped at me why did it beep at me it's still beeping at me I've clearly done something wrong I think because I've just been testing it it's decided oh look at this it's got the different seats it's got the regular seats with the full indigo blue leather surrounds as opposed to the raros very different spec the auto with the regular seats I think I just need to wake it up and then pop it back to sleep there we go woken up back to S sleep and then press lock double press there we go it starts now this is where it's really cool you have the ability to do this you do the tester and then it lets you know with the light fade so that's it getting ready it's prepared then you do it again and wait I've told you wrong you double press lock here we go I think I did it the wrong way you have to go unlock lock how cool is that from the key unlock lock that snap sounds amazing and just to confirm there's nobody in there this is just from the key oh oh that sounds good now I considered buying the automatic for that functionality but I wanted the manual I said it earlier na8 manual gearbox not many of those around as much as I love the fact that it can do this and it brings out my inner child going to turn it off and leave it there so thankfully we do have a plan the sun's actually squeezing back out through the clouds we have a plan we're going to get this car back on the road we've run it on the D I know we've had some misbehavior it's been a lot of fun I learned that maybe with trao rs's don't do donuts because they don't like you and they might do this and nobody wants that you can't drive on a tire where this has happened because any kind of debris on the road it's going to completely explode the tire and obviously that's going to be a total mess so there we go it's been an eventful day here at Hennessy but a big thanks to the team the opportunity to put my car on the dyno 420 wheel horsepower spot on what we thought uh for the 500 claimed at the crank we've been out to the runway done some launches some timing 3 seconds to 60 M hour with roll out done some drifting Donuts I've tried to use the drift brake I'm sorry I'm not the best these tires are way too sticky for that the 305's at the front the sticky compound it needs to be on a on a more regular Tire always obviously the driver is going to complain about something so you have to go with me on that one um and then in addition to that obviously now dealt with this little problem and heard the auto revs I'd like to say a big thanks to everybody here at Hennessee for their hospitality and their help today and their help to get this up and running again to continue from here thank you to you guys as always for watching but that's it for this time and I'll see you again very soon cheerswell that was a blunder we're not going anywhere today it is time to Unleash the Beast we're here at Hennessy in Texas with my new Ford Mustang ready to be driven and enjoyed use some more of the revs I kind of feel like today is the day we open up with it because up to this point we've pretty much just been on highways I've got to be honest we've basically just driven Highway roads the occasional pull on an an entry ramp or exit or something like that little bit of a bump just here a this thing sounds nasty in a good way up through some of the revs we've got those 305 wide front tires basically threw rubber at the problem to get more grip the auto rev matching is on the big corner here at the back which when we've got into the flow of things we can start to have some fun with and then when it opens up down the drag strip up to the red line 110 M an hour or so 500 horsepower obviously 420 at the crank 500 is the at the crank sorry 420 at the wheels it's a confusing one because in Europe we tend to use a calibration factor to reverse engine engineer the crank horsepower and those are the numbers that the the dinos give you as opposed to here where it's always measured in wheel horsepower itself so obviously lower than the manufacturer claimed output hence the 420 500 discrepancy that you get I always find that fascinating but being here and starting off gently lightly having some fun with it I mean okay yes it's quite a heavy car but it's got a lot of go and I love having this trch it's like the follow-up to the Mac 1 from before a bit the Mac 1 a bit the Shelby GT350 with the new Dark Horse this new badge this new model in the line up and it's a whole lot of fun drop the gears throw it in the steering is surprisingly good and that is of course thanks to having the uh Dark Horse handling pack in the setup I mean the Dark Horse is better stiff stiffened and more sportily sprung than the standard car to begin with and then the handling pack takes it even further so it's one thing to put your foot down all the way to the floor down the straight the red line kind of creeps up on me a bit Yeah 113 or so just in that but that's not the only fun I want to have today we've got a car here with some pretty funky bits of software some different track apps and modes acceleration timer brake performance the drift brake and we need to play around with a little bit of it I've got a lot to test here so firstly we're going to turn advanced track off the traction control you can one press and you get the handling mode or press it all the way and that's kind of your traction basically off then in the track apps we've got acceleration time a brake performance lap time a launch settings shift indicator drift brake which will get to line lock will get to launch control and rev matching I haven't tried a launch control this is literally my first one so with launch control enabled how does that work yeah it holds the revs at about 2 and a half thousand that's interesting so let me give it a go right hold the revs at 2 and half th000 and go okay slightly bogged down but oh that sounds cool I love that pop on the shifts okay so that's the launch control it works safe to say I try it once the other way that's literally the first time that I've done it in this car working it out as I go which is always quite an interesting challenge because these systems can get very very very complicated so let me give it one more go come to a standstill launch control is engaged I think it stays on pop it into gear in fact it shows me a little spaceship rocket next to the RPM indicator there you can probably change the RPMs ooh holds the RPM at a set point ready to use with traction control off with traction control on maybe we try traction control on it's a different graphic fascinating okay so we're in first gear ready go oh it gave a little bit of a kick before being ready to go I even think it sounds slightly different whether you've got traction on or off how interesting back to the start then so this time around I want to give the line Locker worldl so press the line lock okay this is where I know there's a procedure but I'm going to do the best I can hold okay to initialize line lock firmly apply breake and hold then you will press okay to engage and then light up the tires okay I'm not going to do that too much cuz I quite like my tires that got very Smokey very quickly but was really cool jokes after that success let's pop it into the acceleration timer you've got a/4 mile igh mile 0 to 60 let's try 0 to 60 start time automatic drag race lights track race lights let's do track race lights oh and then you press Start oh no pressure or anything and it's still showing me the line lock display okay I want to actually turn off line lock first oh it is off okay good acceleration timer start uh press okay on the steering wheel to start the timer okay how does that work three oh this is cool with the lights just like an F1 grid that's awesome aome no way no way was the acceleration that quick I love this PR okay for options I can try it again or exit it oh this is super cool the different screens and things in here this is really cool given it only took this long to get to 60 this way hey we know we can do it back again the other way so from here let's repeat track app press okay to start it does the lights get the revs wait for the wait for them all to go out go is that really 3 seconds it must have the first roll out or something 3 seconds wow that's really cool I don't quite know exactly what I'm looking at but it's really cool this is where I'm going to be an absolute hooligan or at least try to now we don't need any specific apps we've got advanced track off I think we just need to give it a whole load of Welly um in this little area here and see what happens so give it some revs let the clutch out get it into the spin there we go I'm pulling funny faces I know but that was fun right let me get this right slow it down get ready to Chuck it you can tell it's holding the power back a bit there but that is so much fun you definitely get a different sound if you have advanced track off you get more of this pop on the shifts let's try the other way I always prefer everybody always has a direction that they prefer to slide a car compulsory check before we go too far how are we with tread actually we're completely fine obviously the tires are going to start looking a bit worn at some point they're going to need changing but um that's what you're supposed to do with a car like this have fun be a bit Larry enjoy it and I now want to try the uh drift Brak so let's see how this goes I did have it an advanced track off and I've tried this in regular traction and it already feels a little bit like it wants to go now I just think you need to be a bit more confident than I'm being today partly because I don't want to spin off into the lake here or into the Verge or something that's going to cause a lot of damage but it's fun to give it a go I'd love to be a professional but I'm not I'm just a hooligan with a Mustang in a closed private area having some fun into second gear let's really Chuck it no no no idea what I'm doing a I tried this is way harder to slide around probably due to fat sticky rubber than the GT500 does kind of make sense but still I want to wanted to try B oh goodness me I think you need to take off the trao rs's if you want to have some fun sliding this don't get me wrong a professional can no doubt do it I'm not a professional I'm just an Enthusiast driving my own $7 something, car that I don't want to stuff and I'm trying things like donuts easy in fact we can rock straight back into a doughnut given I've turned advanced track back off well that was a blunder we're not going anywhere today that's going to be fun I guess I know what my lunchtime plan is these are quite hot obviously to figure out some new bits of tires uh let's head back to base and start working on a plan here well this is a first a first for me I have never dammed a tire like this before but you can see under here pretty much the whole of that strip here has gone not all the way around but uh a good chunk of it so before we can drive anywhere we need a new set of rears the replacement tires definitely a little bit carry away but it was fun and that's what it's supposed to be with a car like this but before this journey is going to be able to continue we're going to need to fix that little one and at this moment in time with this car being so new and this fitment not exactly being readily available not entirely sure how that's going to go we will work it out shortly fast forward and we've got a lot to talk about this that car that's now running and the other Dark Horse that's now here this is the automatic which means it's the car that has the auto rev function this this this has been interesting as you can tell it's been raining um we've been trying to get to the bottom of this and normally you wouldn't expect a tire to delaminate around the middle like that but the guys here actually have seen it before on another tire so it's clearly a thing with the trao RS technically we could order a new set of rear but they're very hard to find and it might take a couple of weeks and that's obviously a problem when you're on a road trip and you're about to depart to the next location I was toying with the idea of could I just buy those tires from them but we came up with another idea which is what we're going to do um and the guys here are very kindly helping me with ordering and getting everything these tro rs's are going to come off the car forget them front and rear all done finished we're going to put on a completely new set of tires uh a set of Michelin cup twos I love my cup twos they're on the 4GT the GT500 tons of my other cars the same fitment are available all around so we're going to swap those out put the cup twos on my car and then um at least it'll be good to go it obviously means that's not going to happen today but that's not too much of a disaster cuz we've got another stop nearby and we can come back and get the car tomorrow this is going to be a souvenir that goes back to the museum so problem solved on that front let's talk about the Dark Horse for a moment because on my car a lot of people say why haven't I shown you guys the auto rev functionality and there's one very big reason cuz this has been going pretty viral all over and that is is because of the manual shifter the fact that we have a gear stick in the middle of this car means that if you've turned it off in first you can't auto start it from the key like you can in my GT500 um you've never been able to auto start a manual car from the key for obvious reasons so you will notice that is my key this is the automatic car's key there is a difference with the buttons that it has on it because you can lock it double press It beeped at me why did it beep at me it's still beeping at me I've clearly done something wrong I think because I've just been testing it it's decided oh look at this it's got the different seats it's got the regular seats with the full indigo blue leather surrounds as opposed to the raros very different spec the auto with the regular seats I think I just need to wake it up and then pop it back to sleep there we go woken up back to S sleep and then press lock double press there we go it starts now this is where it's really cool you have the ability to do this you do the tester and then it lets you know with the light fade so that's it getting ready it's prepared then you do it again and wait I've told you wrong you double press lock here we go I think I did it the wrong way you have to go unlock lock how cool is that from the key unlock lock that snap sounds amazing and just to confirm there's nobody in there this is just from the key oh oh that sounds good now I considered buying the automatic for that functionality but I wanted the manual I said it earlier na8 manual gearbox not many of those around as much as I love the fact that it can do this and it brings out my inner child going to turn it off and leave it there so thankfully we do have a plan the sun's actually squeezing back out through the clouds we have a plan we're going to get this car back on the road we've run it on the D I know we've had some misbehavior it's been a lot of fun I learned that maybe with trao rs's don't do donuts because they don't like you and they might do this and nobody wants that you can't drive on a tire where this has happened because any kind of debris on the road it's going to completely explode the tire and obviously that's going to be a total mess so there we go it's been an eventful day here at Hennessy but a big thanks to the team the opportunity to put my car on the dyno 420 wheel horsepower spot on what we thought uh for the 500 claimed at the crank we've been out to the runway done some launches some timing 3 seconds to 60 M hour with roll out done some drifting Donuts I've tried to use the drift brake I'm sorry I'm not the best these tires are way too sticky for that the 305's at the front the sticky compound it needs to be on a on a more regular Tire always obviously the driver is going to complain about something so you have to go with me on that one um and then in addition to that obviously now dealt with this little problem and heard the auto revs I'd like to say a big thanks to everybody here at Hennessee for their hospitality and their help today and their help to get this up and running again to continue from here thank you to you guys as always for watching but that's it for this time and I'll see you again very soon cheers\n"
