**A Word from Kevin Mitnick**
Kevin Mitnick is a well-known security consultant and former hacker. He has been involved in various projects to help people understand the risks associated with social engineering and social networking scams. In his own words, he advises everyone to be cautious when dealing with online threats. "It's easy for you to do," he says, "I mean really it's not for you." He encourages people to share his knowledge with others who may not be as aware of the dangers.
Mitnick also comments on the upcoming release of Windows Phone 8. He believes that this new operating system will have a significant impact on the mobile market and notes that Windows Phone 8 is expected to ship in November, but it's uncertain whether current Windows phone users will receive the full treatment.
**Microsoft's Earnings Report**
In a recent earnings report, Microsoft posted strong numbers despite missing revenue projections for the first time. This news may be seen as a cause for concern, but Mitnick believes that companies like Microsoft are resilient and won't give up easily. "I wouldn't count them out yet," he says. He acknowledges that the company has made mistakes in the past, but notes that this is a common occurrence among companies.
**Google's Strong Q2 Earnings**
Google recently reported strong earnings for its second quarter of 2013. The company's profit topped estimates and shares rose as a result. Mitnick congratulates Google on making money, which is what companies should do to stay afloat. However, he notes that the company's CEO, Larry Page, has been focusing on developing innovative products like Google Glasses.
**Pinterest-Style Design for Facebook App Stories**
Facebook is testing a new design for its app stories in the Newsfeed, inspired by Pinterest. This move may be an attempt to attract more users to the platform and boost engagement. Mitnick notes that Pinterest is driving traffic to the Facebook app, but doesn't use it as frequently as he could.
**Twitter Rolls Out Targeted Tweets**
Twitter recently rolled out targeted tweets for advertisers, a new feature designed to help businesses reach specific audiences. This move has sparked debate among users about the role of sponsorship in online services. Mitnick notes that some people may complain about sponsorships, but acknowledges that they are an inevitable part of using free services.
**Flickr's Call for Help**
Flickr recently responded to user criticism by launching a campaign to make the platform "awesome again." The website posted a message asking users to help improve the service. Mitnick notes that Flickr has a dedicated community of users who contribute content and photos, but acknowledges that the platform has fallen out of favor with some users.
**Locker Room Q&A**
A user named DJ Scooby-Doo recently had an impressive streak on Locker Room, answering questions from viewers one after another. When asked about his favorite song, he replied that he didn't really have one. Another user, Wiam Ali, inquired about the availability of Ikea in Seattle, while Bob Popo 23 expressed frustration with the lack of first-person sports games.
**Binary Clocks and LED Displays**
YouTube user Lisa Aaron Wolf wondered about the flashing LEDs on screens in certain videos, speculating that they might be a binary clock. When she asked this question earlier, Mitnick didn't have an answer. However, he notes that these displays are commonly used to show information or provide feedback.
**Meatballs and Mullets**
In a lighthearted moment, Mitnick pokes fun at Swedish meatballs, calling them "me me ball me balls" while also referencing the infamous mullet hairstyle. He jokingly warns that he'd rather eat a meal before trying to wear augmented reality headsets like Google Glasses.
