Samsung's New OLED TVs - More Affordable S90C

David Katzmeyer at Samsung 837: Exploring the Latest TVs for 2023

I'm here at Samsung 837, their New York City showcase, where we're getting to see all the cool new TVs that Samsung has in store for us this year. Behind me, you can see two series of televisions from Samsung's OLED lineup - a 65-inch and a 55-inch model from the S90c series. What makes these particularly interesting is that they're matching LG's price, which suggests that there's going to be some back-and-forth pricing between Samsung and LG on OLED TVs this year.

When it comes to OLED TVs in general, we know that they offer the best picture quality that we've tested at CNET. While we haven't had a chance to test these particular models yet, we can expect them to deliver spectacular pictures. Samsung's S90c series uses QD quantum dot technology, which improves color and makes them brighter. This technology will give you better highlights, better HDR impact, and probably even better picture quality overall.

One of the things that Samsung is emphasizing with their OLED TVs is their performance in bright rooms. Last year, they improved their anti-reflective filter, which helped to reduce gray tones in bright environments and preserve black levels. This year, they're saying that they've further improved this filter, which should result in better contrast in bright rooms.

Now, it's worth noting that Samsung isn't the only player in the market with OLED TVs. Behind me, you can see Q LED TVs, which use LCD picture quality but still offer great performance for non-OLED TVs. These new 2023 models are part of Samsung's broader effort to roll out new HUE LED TVs, including the 85 series, the 90 series, and the 4K lineup. While I haven't had a chance to test these particular models yet, they seem like solid additions to Samsung's lineup.

Another highlight from this showcase is the company's 8K QLED TV, which is part of their top-of-the-line 900C Series. These TVs are touted as being super bright, but it's worth noting that they come with a hefty price tag - especially considering the AK resolution. Whether or not these TVs are worth the investment will depend on individual preferences and viewing habits.

Of course, no discussion of Samsung's TVs would be complete without mentioning some of their other innovative models. There's the Frame, which is an art-looking television with customizable frames. The Frame also comes with an Art Store that allows users to purchase and download various artworks to display on their TV. Then there's the Terrace television for outdoors, which is showing a new version of its Freestyle projector. And finally, let's not forget about Samsung's QLED and quantum dot OLED TVs, which are clearly the focus of this showcase.

Overall, it's been great getting a glimpse into the latest offerings from Samsung 837. With their competitive pricing on OLED TVs and a wide range of innovative models to choose from, it looks like Samsung is set to make some noise in the TV market this year.
