The Future of Intellivision: A Console Revival with a Modern Twist
It's time to bring back the classic Intellivision console and give it a modern makeover. The original Intellivision was a beloved gaming system that rivaled the Atari 2600 in the early days of home gaming. While it may not have been as successful as its rival, it still has a loyal following among retro gaming enthusiasts.
The current revival of the Intellivision brand is exciting news for fans of classic games like Breakout, Moon Patrol, and Astro Smashing. The new console, called the Amico, promises to bring back these iconic titles in a more modern and user-friendly format. But will it be enough to compete with the likes of Nintendo Switch?
The Amico's design takes cues from the original Intellivision, but with a sleeker and more modern aesthetic. It's clear that the developers are targeting a new generation of gamers who are looking for a retro gaming experience without sacrificing accessibility. With its compact design and colorful graphics, the Amico is shaping up to be a must-have console for any retro gaming enthusiast.
But what about the games? The Amico's library promises to be a mix of classic titles and modern creations. Astro Smashing, for example, has been remade in glorious high definition, with stunning visuals and smooth gameplay. It's clear that the developers are committed to bringing back the best of Intellivision's legacy while also pushing the boundaries of what's possible on the console.
The Amico's target market is interestingly broad. While it may have started as a nostalgic treat for older gamers, the console's appeal extends far beyond that demographic. The Amico's family-friendly design and user interface make it accessible to a wide range of players, from casual gamers to hardcore enthusiasts.
But what about Nintendo Switch? Will the Amico be able to compete with the established market leader? While the Switch has certainly had its ups and downs, it remains the most popular console on the market. The question is whether the Amico can carve out its own niche in a crowded field.
One potential strategy for the Amico's developers could be to target Nintendo's untapped territory: children's gaming. With the rise of mobile gaming, kids are spending more time playing games on their parents' phones than ever before. The Amico could be an attractive alternative for young gamers looking for a console experience that's both fun and educational.
The Amico's pricing strategy is also noteworthy. By positioning the console at $99.99 (or roughly $1.99 in handheld form), the developers are hoping to undercut the Nintendo Switch in terms of price. While it remains to be seen whether this will be enough to attract price-conscious gamers, it's certainly an interesting move.
In conclusion, the Amico is a console revival that's worth keeping an eye on. With its sleek design, modern user interface, and promising library of classic games, it's clear that the developers are onto something special. Will it be able to compete with Nintendo Switch? Only time will tell. But one thing's for sure: the future of Intellivision is looking bright.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enalright guys welcome back to the show and today we're going to talk about some of the games that have come out for the Intellivision amico and you gotta admit whether or not you are really into this you've gotta be a bit curious and the reason for that is I mean that's older guys of course we grew up with it or we didn't grow up with it or we know what it is but the games are nostalgic like for example Night Stalker and a remake of Night Stalker for the amico looks pretty cool I like the fact that they're using some of the old IPs making them more modern but not losing track of what the game was and that is important for this design the idea the couch co-op that what they're going for so I put together a little bit of a video showing like some of the games a little bit of hyping to it all because I just wanted to play around with it a bit and a little hyped I gotta say that I might be on the gravy train didn't television hook me let's find out you hey guys act a little bit exciting I am very excited about this launch I mean we know it's happening it's not a fake you know political chameleon thing or Atari I didn't mean to say that but who knows maybe the Atari will actually come sorry guys just a little shot there get you while you down but anyway one of my buddies did buy one of those and he still does know where it is so tall we actually physically see it maybe I get to review it who knows but anyway guys this has gotten me pretty excited it was exciting enough that I made this video where I took little bits of the trailer and this side just kind of threw it in there to give that a little bit of excitement and just goes dull that's the old footage and then it's a new footage and I mean breakout looks like a ton of fun it does look like a ton of fun the controller pretty responsive look pretty cool I mean one thing that was bothering me in that little bit of video was why the screen wasn't lit up I don't know was it actually a true controller was it the actual real one or was it just you know nothing all hooked up yet just testing the control the the feel of the roller dial I don't know but it's a pretty cool concept a little bit thick but it's a pretty cool concept and in fact that you can use your phone's so you'll get two controllers with it you use your phones for added controllers I don't know how that'll work out for the disc control and stuff but who knows we'll have to see when it comes out and I guessing good phones with the sensitivity today it probably isn't that big a problem but I'm sure you have more of an advantage using the original controller so we had breakout moon patrol as shown I guess shark shark and some other games that maybe we don't care about but the unit was designed for family so it's not just for us older guys it's also for our kids to come back into this older nostalgia and play these old games once again in a newer look more kind of like apps on a phone that kind of thing which is really cool because I mean let's face it there's more people playing that in most gaming than there is people playing on console in some cases so phone game play on apps is huge today why not grab that idea in a console that also gives you more to do whatever you wish with I love the fact again like I said bringing back the old ip's boom dozen television having me grab yeah I think they kind of do I think I think my kids would love this thing and I'm probably gonna try and get one when I can also guys let me know did you guys grow up with the Intellivision what do you think of them taking the old IP and making it new again or a more modern version but still keeping it the game that it was which was pretty cool look at Astro smash Astro smash was gorgeous like the explosions and everything but it was still the same game it was just absolutely gorgeous I like it's like you threw us in over the original one and just created an amazing looking game so let me think let me hear about your comments down below please comment let me know is the Intellivision in the cards for you guys in the future do you think that these guys are gonna make it I think they have a huge shot and I'm gonna guess they can go up against Nintendo that is the market that it looks like they're going to try and grab is the Nintendo switch market well they have games like that who knows right will they have a lot more horsepower by the look of it yes so once the system is out there and more people jump on the bandwagon I think they have something that can possibly be in there they're like look at this Nintendo doesn't really have any competition right now Nintendo was catered more towards children right now a lot of us love Nintendo because of nostalgia and games that they do have like people like The Legend of Zelda people like Pokemon I don't know why but they do and no offense if you like Pokemon but the bottom line is it is a market that is untapped Sega is not there right now but Sega would be more towards the xbox and playstation war not attend OHS war it just doesn't add up I mean back then yes it would have been the war between the two but today that wouldn't be the war Nintendo stands alone it's time for someone to try and take the throne or at least bring the tango down to size a little now I don't mean Nintendo is a bad company or anything but let's let's look at something here we take the amico we put it on the mark Nintendo look setting this up oh and all of a sudden Nintendo switches become $2.99 right becomes good for consumer people that weren't buying in attendance which might actually buy a Nintendo switch just that kind of thing is what I'm talking about and then maybe either handhelds will be $1.99 now when I say that I'm saying that Canadian I guess the handhelds are probably $1.99 the states or the whatever the light and the other one is probably - now I don't know but let's say it was $1.99 or or whatever the case may be wherever you are but they dropped them like $100 because of the Intellivision amiko that's a win-win for all of us guys so let me know your thoughts for sure I want to read those thoughts guys if you liked the video hit that like button and if you didn't like the video hit that like button and all you when you hit the not like button know like they're not like buttons should be grayed out I don't know why that's there it's pretty stupid really sad I have a hard time after I can't breathe breathing so anyway guys till next time thank you for watching game
