How to Make CANDY FILLED EASTER EGG SURPRISE CAKES! Chocolate, Vanilla, and Marble Eggs!

Using a Sharp Knife to Achieve a Straight Line with Fondant

The art of decorating Easter eggs involves more than just using food coloring and sprinkles. One of the key steps is creating intricate designs on the egg, often using fondant as the primary medium. However, achieving a straight line can be a challenge. In this tutorial, we will explore how to use a sharp knife to create a straight line around the fondant without needing a perfect straight edge. This technique allows for a more organic and free-form approach to decorating our Easter eggs.

A Straight Line is Not Always Necessary

When it comes to decorating Easter eggs, perfection is not always necessary. In fact, a perfectly straight line can sometimes detract from the overall charm of the design. By embracing imperfections and using a sharp knife to cut around the fondant, we can create a unique and visually appealing effect. This technique also allows for more flexibility in terms of shape and size, as we can easily adjust the size and shape of the egg to fit our design.

Creating a Yellow Band Underneath Pink Fondant

To add a pop of color to our Easter egg, we can use a sharp knife to cut out a yellow band underneath pink fondant. This technique requires some patience and attention to detail, but the end result is well worth it. By rolling out the yellow fondant into a thin strip and gluing it onto the egg, we create a clean and modern look that complements our other Easter egg designs.

Adding Purple Fondant for Texture

To add some texture and depth to our Easter eggs, we can use purple fondant to create intricate designs on top of the egg. By rolling out the purple fondant very thin, we can achieve a delicate and ethereal effect. Placing this under the yellow band adds an extra layer of visual interest to our design, creating a unique and eye-catching effect.

Using Watercolor Paint for a Modern Easter Egg

For a more modern take on traditional Easter egg decorating, we can use watercolor paint to create a unique and artistic effect. By mixing food coloring with clear white rum, we can create a vibrant and liquid-like consistency that can be applied to the egg using makeup sponges. Starting with the lightest color first, we can build up layers of paint to achieve a beautiful and intricate design.

Using Gold Luster for a Touch of Luxury

To add a touch of luxury to our Easter eggs, we can use gold luster paint to create a regal and sophisticated effect. By mixing gold luster with clear white rum, we can create a rich and vibrant color that adds depth and dimension to our designs. Brushing this over the entire egg creates a beautiful and even coat that complements our other Easter egg designs.

Creating a Sprinkle Salad for Easter

For a fun and playful take on traditional Easter egg decorating, we can mix together white, yellow, pink, and purple sprinkles to create a colorful and vibrant sprinkle salad. By pressing this mixture into the shape of our Easter eggs, we can achieve a beautiful and intricate design that adds texture and interest to our designs.

Decorating Additional Easter Eggs

To add an extra touch of personality to our Easter egg collection, we can decorate additional eggs using different techniques and materials. For example, one egg can feature a modern design created with watercolor paint, while another can showcase a gold luster effect. By experimenting with different techniques and materials, we can create a unique and personalized Easter egg collection that reflects our individual style.

The Cake Chick's Easter Challenge

As the cake chick, I love to challenge myself and my friends to create unique and creative designs. For this year's Easter celebration, I decided to hold an Easter-themed decorating challenge on social media. Participants were encouraged to share their own Easter egg decorating creations using a specific hashtag, and the winner would receive a shoutout in next week's "Cake to the Minute" video.

A Lightning-Bolt Design for Easter

For our final Easter egg design, we can use a lightning-bolt effect created with frosting or piping gel. This technique requires some practice and patience, but the end result is well worth it. By creating a dramatic and attention-grabbing design, we can add an extra touch of personality to our Easter eggs and make them stand out from the crowd.

The Power of Creativity

At the heart of all great decorating techniques lies creativity and imagination. Whether we're using fondant, watercolor paint, or gold luster, it's essential to think outside the box and experiment with new ideas and techniques. By embracing our individuality and celebrating our unique perspectives, we can create truly stunning Easter egg designs that reflect our personality and style.

Conclusion

And so, dear readers, I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial on decorating Easter eggs using fondant, watercolor paint, and gold luster. Remember, the key to creating beautiful designs is to think creatively and have fun with the process. Don't be afraid to experiment and try new things – after all, that's what makes decorating so much fun!

took a sharp serrated knife and cut all around that Mark cutting sort of into the center you don't want to cut straight down and through the egg cuz then it won't be a surprise the candy will be leaking out of your cake right now it's an inner circle this is getting really you're in the Inner Circle but I'm going to make this circle more of an oval by cutting off some more cake at the top of the circle President Obama in that inner oval no he's in the Oval Office oh right this is the inner oval this is where candies um come together as one now I repeat this process on the other half of the cake remember to use your ruler and line it up the same I found a way to use a ruler on an egg that's actually impressive thank you you don't want cake crumbs on your candy so what I'm going to do is melt some candy melts and brush them into the both halves of the inner oval that's the inner eggshell it's like the Secret Service yes it's the cake Secret Service yes the the cake is like protecting the candy till it's time while your chocolate is sending flip your cakes over and put the flat side down and call Sir squeezel lot over to help you shower the domed part of the eggs don't below after Easter they are gone forever these t-shirts are gone once your chocolate is set and your simple syrup has completely absorbed fill that inner oval with candy for this cake I'm putting in these cute little Easter gummy candies in such pretty little colors now what you're going to do is use a little more of your melted candy melts and spread them on the surface of the top of the cake all around the inner oval on one half of your cake then you're going to pick up both halves of the egg and line them up it's a lot like flipping you're going to smash really yeah you got to smash both halves together okay line up the inner ovals take a moment smash use a little more chocolate to fill in any gaps if there's gaps in the seam and close those gaps the inner oval is now closed until I I eat it at the end of this video now while your egg cake is on its side use a sharp serrated knife to just cut a little slice off the bottom and this is just going to help your egg stand upright I'm going to give it a crumb coat with my Italian rang buttercream and chill it you do have to kind of keep your hand there because of the weeing and wobbling yeah it's more the weebl's fault I feel like the wobbling is a little better now that your Crum coat is chilled ice your cake once more as smoothly as you can and chill it again and once it's chilled for the final time wet your fingertips and rub out any ridges that might be left behind to smooth out your egg it's time to cover these babies in fondant I'm going to roll out my white fondant drape it over my egg cake and smooth it out all around the cake with my hands at the bottom I'm just going to tuck in the extra fondant and trim it away to smooth the fondant I'm actually going to use just a little ball of fondant and rub it on the surface of the cake remember I've already covered my other two egg cakes and I really felt when I was covering the third one that they were like watching over me you know making sure I was treating it right and making him look good I just I I felt them watching me it was a lot of pressure it's time to decorate these eggs for my first egg I'm going to use fondant to create a simple modern gorgeous pattern I'm using faant that I dyed yellow pink and purple really nice bright Shades I'm going to start by draping pink fondant over the egg securing it with a little bit of water underneath and then I'm just going to use a sharp knife to cut all around the fondant I'm not looking for a perfect straight line I can't believe I just said that what I want a straight line but I don't want it straight across the egg ah I'm going to add a yellow band underneath my pink I'm just going to roll out the yellow in like a long strip and then I'm going to glue that bend onto the egg cake and once again use a sharp knife to trim the band I roll the purple fonet very thin place it under the yellow band on my egg and trim a nice shape I went with the flow I was looking for something sort of clean and modern I'm going to put this cake in the fridge and move on to my watercolor egg I'm going to use the same food coloring that I used to dye my fondant but this time I'm going to make paint out of them by adding some clear white rum I used makeup sponges to apply my paint to the egg I started with the lightest color first being the yellow then I moved on to Pink filling in some of those white spaces and then I moved on to purple while the paint was still a little wet I took a very soft tissue and rubbed it up against the cake and ripped it off and this just sort of lifts a bit of paint and creates a soft texture we need to let this paint dry before we add a few other touches so I'm going to put it in the fridge and get my third egg so I create a gold paint with some gold luster and again white rum and I just paint painted sort of the crown of the egg this cute little head once I painted on the gold I brush clear piping gel over the entire rest of the egg I now mix together white yellow pink and purple sprinkles to create a lovely eastery sprinkle concoction sprinkle salad oh it's a Sprinkle salad I've made a diamond salad before so this is a Sprinkle salad now I take this mixture and press it into the size of my egg where the piping jelly is my other two eggs now need their Golden Touch I start with my watercolor Egg and I basically use three different sizes of paint brushes and just added random brush Strokes for my modern Easter egg I kind of really deliberated what I wanted to do and then as I was doing the other two I thought I should just pour the gold on top and let it drip down I was so laidback this Easter if you've seen my Sushi video by now you know that I can go with the flow I did it again literally it was flowing gold I had so much fun decorating
