My First Taste of Cute Frozen Foods

Greetings, my beautiful lovelies! It's Emmy. How are you? It's great to see you and welcome back. Today I'm going to be tasting some cute things I found in the frozen food section at my local Asian market.

So this is a pretty large supermarket, and it features mostly Chinese ingredients, but you can find other ingredients from other countries as well, including Japan and Korea. For those of you that live in the Rhode Island area, I went to Good Fortune and I go there regularly, and I just discovered another frozen food section, which I had not seen before. It was down another aisle, and found products I'd never seen before. I purchased them so I could taste them and try them with you today.

Alrighty, so let's get started, lovelies! Will you look at these? These are frozen buns that are in the shape of little animals. How stinking cute is that? So I've seen plenty of videos of these being made. I've never made them myself. These are steamed buns. You can also purchase them at bakeries, and I think they're also served at dim sum, but I've never had them before. And they're pre-made. They're pre-made and shaped. I'm so excited.

And all I have to do is steam these for eight to ten minutes, that's it. Oh my goodness! Look, look, look, look, look, look, look! So we have a little bunny. Sleeping bunny: bow; ears. We have Pig: oh eyelash. Pig is so cute. Bear. Bear's a little crooked... his face is a little bit crooked. Look at that one's a little better. Bear. And Chick. Oh my goodness! So stinking adorable!

So it doesn't say exactly which ones are filled with what. Oh, yes, it does. Bunny is filled with red bean paste. Piggy is filled with custard. Bear is red bean paste, and Chicky is custard. Yes, so it does tell you... we'll pop these.... I'm just gonna steam 'em all. Little bunnies here. Piggy! Look at that face. Amazing!

Now, we don't even need to thaw these out --we just place them on our steamer tray. That's it. Chicky. These are so cute. And zero effort. So I'm gonna place this into my steamer, and we're gonna steam these for eight to 10 minutes. These are already all baked. (device beeps) Okay! Oh my God. Oh, lovelies. Don't you love it when your audio battery dies? I don't, I don't. I put in new batteries, but they're not holding a charge.

So, all right, we're gonna let that go and we're gonna taste something else. In that same section, I also found these little buns, and these ones you can't really see as well because the plastic is frosted. But I think these are gon be super cute as well. Here they are, adorable! Right there, that looks adorable, but let's see how cute the buns are.

Oh my gosh! Look! These are so cute. So we have like this looks like a little apple, strawberry. I think that's like a mango stem and a little tangerine. Oh my goodness! So cute! So I'm gonna steam all of these as well. Mango steam. Oh my gosh! So cute. Strawberry. Strawberry. And the little apple. Oh my goodness, so cute!

All right, so I'm gonna steam all these, as well, for the same amount of time. About 10 minutes in the steamer until they're warmed through. Look at those! So cute. I can't decide which one's my favorite. Maybe the tangerine or the... I don't know... the apples? Or all of them together? Oh, so cute!

Alrighty, so while the buns are steaming, let's taste something else. So look at these cutie things! Oh my goodness, I was so excited when I saw these. Look how stinking cute these are.

These are individual servings of ice cream in a cone. So in Japan, you can go to the convenience store and buy an ice cream cone with your favorite ice cream flavor. It's like a little treat. You can also find them at Asian markets, which is why I'm so excited because I know they have a variety of flavors.

So in this video, we're going to try some different flavors. Let's start with mango. Oh my goodness! This is so cute! The ice cream is scooped into the cone perfectly, and it looks like a little mango on top. And look at that stem! It's like a little mango stem on top of the cone. This flavor is amazing! I can already tell it's going to be delicious.

Next up, we have strawberry. Oh my goodness, this one is so cute too! The ice cream is pink and swirly, just like a real strawberry. And look at that cherry on top! It's like a little cherry on top of the cone. This flavor is also amazing!

And finally, we have tangerine. Oh my goodness, this one is so colorful! The ice cream is orange and creamy, and it looks like a little slice of tangerine in the cone. And look at that peel! It's like a little slice of tangerine peel on top of the cone. This flavor is also delicious!

I hope you enjoyed this video of me trying individual servings of ice cream in cones from an Asian market. Let me know which flavor was your favorite, and don't forget to subscribe for more fun food videos!

\"convenie,\"or the convenience store, and pick up these littleindividual ice cream cones. They come wrapped just like this, and it's a soft serve ice cream, but I've never seen them here stateside. And this is super soft vanilla.Soft serve is wildly popular in Japan, especially in the summertime. But I've never gotten a takeaway version. So this very conveniently pops off.(container pops)This was about $3,which is a lot moreexpensive than I rememberever paying in Japan.I think I paid about a dollar,or a hundred yen or so.But look at that.So we've got thatbeautiful ripply pattern. It looks like it's settled a little bit.I think it might've beena little bit taller, but maybe underwent some meltage. But inside here is a cone.I don't know if you can see that, but this allows you tohold it while you eat it.All righty, let's give thissoft serve ice cream a taste. This one is super soft vanilla. All righty, Itadakimasu!Mm.A little bit icy on the outside.Mm!Very light and foamy. And creamy, full of dairy flavor. It tastes like soft serve, and it leaves kind of aoily finish in your mouth.I would say richer in that sense than saya soft serve ice cream you would geta McDonald's or something, and good vanilla flavor. The texture's a little bit wrong though, because it's a littlebit icy on the outside. And I think that's becausethis has been in the freezer. You know what I mean? It's not freshly piped. And the texture could be better too.I feel like it's not as kind of smoothas freshly served soft serve, but flavor's pretty good. And you know, we got thisout of the freezer section.Let's see how the cone is.So there's the cone. And right away I can tellit's a little bit squishy. So I think this has hadtime to kind of settle. You know what I mean? It's not gonna be crispy anymore.No.Mnh-mnh.It's got that texture of a drumstick cone.Do you know those drumstickice cream confectionswhere the cone gets kind of softand firm and a little bit rubbery?Yeah, it has that. The ice cream is pretty goodthough, but the cone is not.All righty, let's taste this one. This one is matcha. This is Uji Matcha Soft Serve dessert. So they don't even call it ice cream, but matcha is green teathat's been pulverized into a powder, and in this case turned into ice cream. So this looks like it'shalf vanilla, half matcha. And this vanilla looksa little bit whiter, and less kind of cream/off-whitecolor as the other one. This too is also in a cone.Let's give this one a taste. Here we go.Itadakimasu!Mm.This one has a better texture, smoother, more kind of like, almostlike whipped topping.Very smooth and fluffy.Rather than having a bit ofan icy crystallized crunchto the outside.Matcha flavors. All right.Vanilla.It's not as vanilla-y as that one. This is more, to me, tastesmore like whipped topping, both in texture and insweetness and flavor. But I do like the green tea part.Mm-hmm.But I've also had bettergreen tea soft serve.Mm.Although I find it's challengingto find a good green tea icecream here in the States.Haagen-Dazs used to make one,and my local supermarket used to carry it,but haven't found it in years. So here's this cone. This cone looks to be ina little bit better shapethan the other cone, butlet's give it a taste.Deluxe Cupcake Sunny Cone. Here we go.Unh-unh.No.Cone's not good.Same kind of firm, rubbery texture. No crunch at all.Nah.I would say pass on these. Not so great.Oh, well.Okay.And because I couldn't resistit, I found more ice cream.I love green tea ice cream. And this is anotherJapanese brand, Futaba, which I've never had before. But these are mini softs, andI love mini ice cream cones.Love them, 'cause I love ice cream, but I like little small portions. And these look like different variationson green tea or matcha.Oh my gosh, look! These are so cute.(laughs)Look, this is an original.Look at these. They're adorable!I've never seen these before.I wish they were packaged in a waythat they weren't just kindof rolling around in there, but oh my goodness, look how cute. They're like little pine cones.Oh, I think they gotmushed in the top though. That's a bummer.Because I think this gotrolled around in the freezer.Oh, look how sad that is.Oh, that's so disappointing.Look, it melted and refroze.Oh, that's so disappointing.I'm gonna call this anerror on.. at the store.I think these defrosted andthen refroze in very sad form.Oh my gosh, are they all like this?Oh, this is such a bummer.Look, there's ice on the outside.Yeah, so they've been sittinglike that for a while.Hmm.I'm so disappointed.Ugh, that's awful.Oh, I was so excited, butthey're all in bad shape.I should taste it.Mnh-mnh.They don't taste good.Too sweet, not very icy.Oh, look at this one. This one's a mess.Oh, that's awful.I should get my money back on this. This is terrible.Look, it was so cutebefore, and then it meltedand now it's not so cute.Well, that's a disappointment. So the mini softs,I cannot give you areview on the mini softsbecause they're not reviewable.Such a bummer.Oh man.I found these cute little things. What's The Better? (laughs)And these are jumbo ice cream macaronsfrom Assi Nuldam --so these are Korean.Oh my gosh, but look, this is cheese flavored,\"dark chocolate, cheese, and strawberry yogurt.\"Cheese!?Okay.Very cute packaging --pull this like this. And there are just...justthree macarons in there.Oh, this one busted apart.Pretty good shape consideringsupermarket, frozen. Not too bad.All righty, I wanna tastethe chocolate one first.Look at that one. That is pretty jumbo.Pretty fatty. So, macarons were hugefive, ten years ago, everyone was making them, and I thought, oh, thoseare kind of overrated. But I've never had them with ice cream. So macarons are these cookiesthat are made with lotsof meringue and almond meal and sugar, and there's definitely atechnique to making them. They have to have a nice little foot, which is that little bit at the bottom. But like I said, I've neverhad them with ice cream before,so let's see if my opinion changes at all. Here we go.Itadakimasu!Oh.Mm-hmm.Mm!Mm, my opinion has changed. That is excellent. The macaron has a nice soft crunch to itand a little bit of a chew. And then you get this really lovely, rich, dark chocolate ice cream in the middle.Fancy fantastic.Love that, all right.Very curious about this one. This cute one looks almost likea little hamburger or something. It's cheese flavored. All right, here we go.Itadakimasu!Mm!I like it.Wow.It's definitely cheesy. It's got a nice,savory-sweet thing going on.Again, the macaron is delicious. It's got a wonderful texture, sweet, no almond flavor. But just a really great texture.A little bit crackly on the top,and then just pleasantly chewy. And then you get this reallylovely ice cream in the middle, which is a little bitlike soft serve in termsof its smoothness, butdefinitely has a firmness. And when you bite it into it,it doesn't squish out at all. This one's surprisingly delicious.Yes, I like it.The cheese, it tastes like cheese. It tastes a little bit likeprocessed American cheese. Not very strong, but definitelya savory, cheesy flavor.Delicious.Okay, strawberry yogurt is this one.Strawberry yogurt. All righty, here we go, very cute pink. Here we go.Mm!Again, the macaron cookiehas a marvelous texture, crackly and chewy. The filling has some strawberry jam,so there's a little bit ofa punch of strawberry flavorto it, with some seeds to get a little bitof a crunch, but it's kind of subtle.Mm-hmm.(device beeps)I like this one the least.I feel like it doesn't havevery much complexity to it.Sort of predictable.I guess the same couldbe said of the chocolate, but this one just tastes phenomenal. This one?Eh.But the cheese one, that one's exciting. All right, I'm gonna putthese back in the freezerso my kids can taste these, and they'll get a kick out of that too.All righty, let's get back toour steamed buns, shall we?(exclaims)Oh my gosh, they're so cute. They poofed up.(giggles)Oh my gosh, they're so cute.Look at them!So they poofed up a littlebit during steaming. All righty, let's giveour little chick a taste.(imitates chicken squawking)(laughs)So squishy and soft and bouncy. And here we go.Itadakimasu!I think the beak is alittle piece of carrot.Oh, no, it's bun.I thought that was a carrot, but it's bun.All righty.Itadakimasu!Hmm!The bun itself is very plain. It tastes like a steamed bao.If you haven't seen myrecipe where I make a bao, that looks like a banana or a tangerine, you should definitely takea look at those videosbecause they look just like a banana. It looks just like a tangerine. But that's very similardough recipe to this. Can you see?Yes.So very plain, and in the middlewe have a custard filling that's yellow. It's either a custard or a bean filling. It's pleasantly sweet.Doesn't have much flavor to it either.A little bit eggy, butvery simple and plain.I think a little childwould enjoy this very much.So stinkin' cute! All right, let's see what's insideour little bear friend.Yep.This one has some red bean paste. Is it gonna taste like chocolate?(sniffs)Oh, it smells a little bit like chocolate.Hmm.No, it doesn't taste like chocolate. Not noticeably.Again, it's very, very squishy. And the filling is justsweetened bean paste.Very, very plain, simplebread, but less squishy. They're so squishy though. They're so squishy.(laughs)Very pleasant to squeeze.Okay, here's the bunny.Bunny, bunny, bunny.See what's inside the bunny.Oh, bunny is red bean paste too.Let's give that a taste.Hmm.I have to say, the dough is so squishyand soft and pleasant, but it's very plain. The red bean paste here is smooth, pasty, but not very sweet.Very, very light. Now the piggy, oh mygosh, look at the pig.Oh, oh.So squishy. And the pig is filledwith yellow custard too. It's gonna be the sameas the chick, I think.Mm-hmm.Does that look like an egg?I think the fillings couldbe a little bit sweeter. They're pretty simple and plain.Would I buy these again?Probably not.I don't eat a lot of steamed buns. But if I had very youngkids, little toddlersand wanted a little bready bun snack,I might consider something like this. They're so stinking cute.Or for a little party, oh my gosh.I think for a party they would be great.Look, so cute.Just for the squeeze-abilityand just everyone gets alittle animal to taste, but on the regular, probably not.All right, let's try the fruits! So, let's try the apple first.Again, very squishy.Ah, red bean paste.Unh-unh, hmm. These are even less sweetthan the other ones.Hardly any sweetness at all. This could almost be savory.Yeah.Not exactly my favorite.Mango steamed. So, so cute.Red-bean based too.Oh no, this has like ube in it, I think.Or purple sweet potato, that's beautiful.Okay, let's taste that.Mm-hmm.I think that's supposed to be ube.It doesn't have much flavor nor sweetness, but it's beautiful. It's very similar to thered bean paste, very plain. All right, orange.Let's see what's inside the tangerine.I love the dimples on it.Oh, this one looks likered bean paste too.Mm-hmm.Just like the apple.Pretty simple. And a chubby strawberry.(vocalizes)Red bean paste?Oh no, this has the ube too, the purple.Very pretty.(device beeps)Yeah. These were even lesssweet than the animals.Again, super, super adorable.Maybe for a little party or something, but I probably wouldn't buy these again. My kids aren't hugefans of red bean paste. And these are super cute, but not that tasty for me.But if you're a fan of steamed baosand like sweetened red bean paste, then maybe these are the snack for you.All righty, my lovelies, thanks so much for watching.I hope you enjoyed that one.I hope you learned something. Please share this video with your friends.Follow me on social media, like this video, subscribe. And I shall see you in the next one.Toodaloo!Take care.Byeee!!!(lively orchestral music)I want to love you....but... (sighs)you're just not that tasty.I mean, I don't hate you, I just....(makes childish animal sounds)I don't know what I'm doing.\n"
