Restoring a Flood Salvage Tesla Model X Part 3 - Cleaning Duty!

A Crazy Night and a Great Morning: The Misadventures of a Road Trip

As I sat in the plane, waiting to land, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that we were finally on our way. We had been traveling for what felt like an eternity, and all I could think about was getting some decent Wi-Fi to catch up on some work. "Okay, plane landed successfully and no one clapped," I thought to myself, grateful that the initial excitement was over.

As we disembarked from the plane, I was greeted by a massive port with towering buildings and busy streets. I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the sheer size of it all, especially in my vapour max sneakers. "Damn this is a big-ass here port," I muttered to myself, feeling a bit out of place.

We hailed an Uber and made our way to our hotel, which was conveniently located near the airport. After checking in, we decided to explore our surroundings and find some lunch. Unfortunately, things didn't quite go as planned. "I wondered what's in that hole," I joked to myself, pondering the mysteries of the hotel room.

The next morning, we set off on a new adventure, eager to check out some equipment from Gem, an Italian manufacturer of wheel tire bouncing and alignment equipment. We rented a performance model three and were excited to see what it had to offer. "Bang on the guy's door," I said with a chuckle, remembering our previous experience with renting cars.

As we made our way through the airport, we encountered another issue – the car wasn't ready. Undeterred, we hailed another Uber and continued on our way. After a few more misadventures, including taking an extra hour to rent a performance model three, we finally got our equipment.

We spent the day learning about Gem's latest technology, including their Argo system, which had reduced the time it took to read alignment specs from 30 minutes to just 30 seconds. I was impressed by the innovative solutions and couldn't wait to share them with my team.

After a long day of work, we decided to treat ourselves to some dinner and drinks. "Three Moscow Mules," I said with a smile, enjoying the refreshing combination of ginger beer, lime juice, and vodka. As we walked back to our hotel, I felt like everything was fine – until I didn't.

It turned out that my night had been filled with more misadventures than I care to remember. "Everything is so fuzzy," I joked, still trying to process the events of the previous day. We ended up getting some rest and meeting up again for a working lunch the next morning.

The Next Day: Equipment Installation and Troubleshooting

I woke up early, feeling refreshed after a good night's sleep. We had plans to pick up some equipment from Gem and get started on installing it in our shop. As we made our way back to the airport, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement – after all, this was going to be an adventure.

As we arrived at the airport, I was greeted by a high escalator that seemed to go on forever. "Damn this is a high escalator," I thought with a sigh, trying to make my way up it without too much trouble.

We finally made it to our equipment – a DW a1000 alignment machine, an ER 75 hub match, and an SM 1100 tire change machine. We were excited to get started on installing them in our shop.

But as we tried to charge my laptop, I encountered another issue – the plugs didn't work. "The whole thing's a sham," I joked with frustration, wondering what was going wrong. Eventually, we managed to find some water and continued on our way.

As we boarded our plane for the return journey home, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that our adventure was coming to an end. We had encountered more than our fair share of misadventures, but in the end, it had all been worth it.

The Next Steps: Reinstalling the Body Control Module and Troubleshooting

As we settled into our seats on the plane, I couldn't help but think about what lay ahead for us. We were going to take a closer look at the circuit boards from our previous road trip and reinstall the body control module to see how it would affect our car's performance.

I also had plans to replace the heating system and remove the MC (multiplexing computer) to see if we could eliminate some of the discoloration that had developed over time. And, as an added bonus, I would be checking the motor to see if any water had gotten inside it – a crucial step in ensuring our car was running smoothly.

Finally, we would be inspecting the main battery to make sure everything was working properly. It had been a long and eventful road trip, but with these repairs and replacements under our belt, I knew our car was going to perform like new.

As I settled into my seat for what promised to be a bumpy ride home, I couldn't help but smile at the misadventures of our road trip. After all, it had been an adventure – and one that I would never forget.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys rich with rich rebuilds here and I'm back with another episode on my flooded Tesla Model X build if you aren't up to speed on the build progress hit that subscribe button and take a look at the Model X place now for a quick recap the first episode I got the car in the shop told the interior out including front and rear seats on all carpeting I also lost my assistant cam he's not dead I just don't know where he is the body control module at the front of the car definitely seen better days now the second episode I removed the rear charger to inspect for water along with a comparison of what the inside of a 72 inch are versus a 48 amp charger looks like there's absolutely no traces of water in the charger of the vehicle which means I'm gonna be buttoning it back up pretty soon and installing it back in the car thankfully Tesla put a nice gasket at the top cover just in case and that simple gesture saved a ton of time and frustration now today I'm going to remove some of the more common things that would fail in the event of a flood remember this is what the car looked like the water was up in the belt line of the vehicle and unfortunately all the important electronics lived below that line so today I'll be removing additional modules such as the cabin heater airbag module as well as the knee airbags themselves we're also gonna attempt to clean these parts by using an ultrasonic cleaner the see our clinic could get the electronic boards because maybe we could actually still use these parts either way let's get some more parts out of the car I'll it's not bad little Ross with a rusty like that yeah this thing got messed up yeah look at that now I'm at the point where I can actually start cleaning parts today we have the body control module that was under water for several days which looks like this in case you can't see the corrosion let me just use this pointer right here our our retreat builds kitchen knife baby and here's the air bag control module that looks like this now I'm sure this was in salt water so the cleaning process will be much easier first we're gonna get a soft bristle toothbrush and lightly scrub the corrosion away with some distilled water now the distilled water and toothbrush did a great job and after a secondary rinse in distilled water we're gonna use something known as an ultrasonic cleaner an ultrasonic cleaner is something that uses ultrasound to agitate a fluid that's appropriate for the item being cleaned it uses ultrasonic compression waves to clean and leave behind small vacuum bubbles to remove contaminants from surfaces today I'm gonna use a printed circuit board cleaner solution and set the cleaner to 80 degrees for 30 minutes let's see if we could see some of those small cleaning bubbles yep here they are the camera might not be picking this up but it's actually pulling small pieces of dirt and corrosion off the circuit board itself well this is boring so I took a trip to get some equipment for the electrified garage do you want to hear about it please hold so I hop in the uber get to the airport and I'm pretty damn hungry so look yogurt my favorite I love yogurt 649 I'm paying 649 for that okay fine I'll buy it let me get a water - what's cheaper Dasani or smart water probably Dasani get to the register oh look earpods wait those aren't baby got tired decided to use my twenty-dollar neck pillow which does nothing by the way I could have bought a neck pillow that did nothing on the plane for six dollars okay whatever I'll just get on Wi-Fi you were out of your Wi-Fi coverage area okay plane landed successfully and no one clapped thank God because I can't stand people that clap when the plane lands we get off the plane and damn this is a big-ass here port I can't walk 45 minutes in these vapour maxes oh wait they have trains in the airport we walk to our uber it's a big-ass SUV takes us to the hotel and the hotel is kinda well uh I wonder what's in that hole okay whenever I'll figure it out later get in the elevator elevator door opens elevator door closes let's see what this room looks like oh how modern what time is it 2:00 a.m. wait a minute 201 good night woke up the next morning took an uber one hour to rent the performance model three to rent a performance model three okay there that goes bang on the guy's door we never got the car took another uber one hour back did some more work in the car and we got HM which is an Italian manufacturer of wheel tire bouncing and alignment equipment we're gonna be replacing some of our old equipment with the newest offering from gem we'll have a brand new alignment machine new balancer and tire change equipment and while we were there they showed us some of their newest technology on their Argo system they managed to cut down the time of reading your alignment specs from what can take up to 30 minutes just to setup down to 30 seconds check out their
