Turning $100 into a HIGH-END Gaming PC - S3 -E2 'DOUBLE or NOTHING'

**The Unfortunate Tale of Two Faulty GPUs**

I'm writing this article after my second experience with a faulty GPU being sent to me via mail, and I have to say, it's been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. The first time it happened, I was eager to set up my new rig, but things didn't quite go as planned. After receiving the wrong GPU, I had to start from scratch, only to discover that the replacement was also faulty. Needless to say, I've learned my lesson this time around and will be taking extra precautions in the future.

**A New Rig Emerges**

Luckily, after the second misadventure, I was able to salvage a good deal on a new rig. The PC turned out to be working perfectly, and I was thrilled with the results. To make matters even better, I received a free case that had been thrown in as an added bonus. With 32 GB of DDR3 memory and a reliable power supply, this rig is ready to take on any task I throw at it.

**A Buyer Lined Up**

One of the best parts of this episode was finding a buyer for my old rig. The red half setup had been sitting idle for a while, but after listing it online, I managed to snag an interested buyer. The price was exactly what I wanted – $280, a steal considering the original price tag was much higher. What's more, the buyer was patient and willing to wait for the right moment to pick up the rig. It's always a good feeling when you can sell something quickly and easily.

**The Power of Asking**

One of the most valuable lessons I learned from this experience is the importance of asking about extras when picking up deals. In this case, the seller had one monitor without cables, but I managed to snag an additional cable that came in handy later on. It's always worth asking if the seller has any spare parts or accessories that they can include with the deal.

**A New GPU on the Horizon**

As for my future plans, I'm considering upgrading my GPU to a more powerful model. I've got my eye on a GTX 970, which should provide a significant boost in performance. Once I get my hands on it, I plan to sell this rig and make some extra cash.

**A Word of Caution**

Before we move on to the next episode, I want to caution our readers about the dangers of getting deals through the mail. In this case, having something sent to you without your consent can be a recipe for disaster. Always be wary when receiving unexpected packages in the mail, and never hesitate to ask if there's anything extra that might be included.

**The Future Looks Bright**

As I wrap up this article, I'm feeling quite optimistic about what's to come in episode 3. We've got a solid plan in place, and I'm excited to share our progress with you all. With this new rig and the right GPU in place, we're poised to take on even more challenging projects and push ourselves to new heights. Stay tuned for the next installment of our tech series – it's going to be a wild ride!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enin episode one of the $100 flip up challenge we managed to just and I mean just put together a budget gaming PC setup and then I listed it that night as I released the video and it sold the next morning extremely quick and I actually put it up for $270 Aussie doll even though I only wanted to get 250 for it someone came and picked it up for asking price and so that leaves us now coming into episode two with $270 Aussie dolls and we can now have a little bit more fun and we've got a little bit more flexibility and we can take just a little bit more risk even though I've already lined up some deals which is why we are recording this at nighttime because we've lined up a GTX 760 they've actually listed it as a gym 760 so maybe they want to sell the graphics card and get the 20 bucks to get their gym membership going where they're actually asking $ 30 Aussie doll for this GPU I put in an offer of 20 and they said come and pick it up so that's what we're going to do right now there is also another deal that I managed to land and this is an i7 3770k water cooler motherboard 16 GB of RAM a whole barebones kit and this is going to be an awesome deal without asking initially 100 put in the offer of 80 and they accept it so we're going to have pretty much the whole thing except for a power supply for a 100 bucks that is going to be a lot better than the previous PC but we'll still have to of course Source a case as well so let's go hit the yes mobile and then see what we end up getting season 3 of the $100 flip up challenge is brought to you by vipd Keys bringing you that $15 Windows 10 Pro key license when you use that coupon code bftc links in description below so we just picked up this gym 760 right here and it's in really good condition and also the person who sold it said they had also changed the thermal paste over so that's really good news and the funny thing was I asked them when I got there I was like did you have any other interest cuz I'm always curious for knowledge and I said did you have anyone else interested in this and they said no and they actually said they had a GTX 1630 or gt630 I forgot the name of it they had that for sale and it sold really quickly so it looks like these budget cards I I feel like 20 Aussie dolls I feel like this is a bargain I feel like it's very underrated I have already tested the performance in fortnite and CS2 two of the most important games to get the FPS counters for and they it gave out really good settings at 10 AP low settings on both games and well performance mode for fortnite was giving out a good experience so that's why I'm sort of going for round two here but speaking of round two we've actually got a bit of a dilemma that's come up on the road because it is 900 p.m. where I'm at here I'm actually 20 minutes south of where I live and the i737 70k guy is 20 minutes north of where I live so it's going to be a 40-minute drive to get TM and I said I'll be there at like 9:40 and he just messaged me back and says it's too late come another night and get it though here's where the twist comes in and this is with another deal that we were looking at earlier today for a red computer tower it's actually in an old school Cooler Master half case and they were asking $150 Aussie dollar for this I put an offer of 100 and they accepted now it's an i5 it's got 16 GB of RAM it's also got a power supply it's a whole system except a GPU and so I actually was looking at this in episode one but I just knew I didn't have the funds to make anything happen terms of a full gaming PC but they've messaged us back just now and they're actually on the way home so we're going to go get that deal and then get back to the tech yes Studio and we are now back with one of the coolest looking old school cases I have seen in a long time I just think this thing looks so much cooler in person than it does in the ads keep in mind I do have to clean it down a little bit it's a little bit dirty at the front here and this graphics card it's just a coincidence that this graphics card literally matches the color scheme of this case so who says you cannot get Aesthetics on a budget now in terms of putting this GPU in this case we are going to try it in the morning because anything with negative possibilities always and I mean this gu always try it in the morning for instance want to rub a bank do it in the morning want to break up with your girlfriend do it in the morning and the reason for this is if you do it at nighttime and you have problems you ain't going to be sleeping too well so I'm just going to go to bed knowing that this is all going to work perfectly and I'm going to have a good night's sleep even if there is something wrong I'm going to find out in the morning though another cool little bonus while we're picking up the red PC right here I did ask them if they had anything else laying around and they did have monitors except they're asking $30 a pop and in this series I found that $15 monitor from Cash Converters and I'm actually going to be looking at cash converters for more really cheap monitors just at least for these real sort of budget flips that I'm going to be doing so that was just a little bit out of my price range and they also had an i7 3770 and an 8 GB stick of ram they wanted $50 for it I said no but then they had this it was a just a budget power supply I asked them how much they said 10 bucks and it looks like it'll do the job so it's better than the last power supply the I cute so if anything it should work okay so I just said sure $10 I will take that so we now have a a power supply a GPU and a whole system without a GPU all for $130 and that leaves us with $140 left so let's get some sleep test it all out and then we shall Soldier on so we are now waking up in the morning to some really good news and that is this GTX 760 works fine the PC is working fine with the GTX 760 though we did however come into some problems and there only little problems problems and that was when we first put the GPU in we just had to reset the bios by taking the little battery out because it was programmed to use the onboard graphics and that locks that in and so when you put in a GPU it just gives you out no signal though after doing that we boot it up fine then the next problem we had here was in Windows 11 when it goes into hibernation and so after 20 minutes the PC just doesn't wake up and so we get around that by just disabling hibernation and putting it into high performance mode and that's that problem fixed and another good thing about that is we can free up some precious SSD Space by doing a command prompt here and turning off the hibernation mode manually now on top of all that the GPU is running a little bit hot here it's going up to 80° which I'm not so comfortable with so what I might do just like the previous setup in episode 1 is I may install After Burner and just play around with the fan settings and power limits and just see if we can get it to run constantly under 70° though in this case the power supply in this build is a lot better and I do say a lot better but even though it's an entry-level power play on this build it's a 400 W power play from Corsair but it's got 30 amps available on that 12vt line which just gives us a lot more wiggle room than we had before with only 18 amps and so we don't have to sweat about our PC uh crashing or shutting off due to the power supply and another good thing is the I5 3470 is more power efficient than the I5 2500 so got a few good things going on here however this PC is filthy we are going to get on to cleaning it very soon and also doing a little bit more cable management because one thing I did notice was a Molex connector inside was almost hanging out that's extremely dangerous to have any sort of live wires if your PC's on exposed so we fixed that up already too also the last thing we tested was the power supply here and that was working fine too except for two of the three fans were not spinning so I'm going to pull this apart as well when I'm cleaning this PC up check out what the go is there and if they just don't work we can just remove them because I'm pretty sure we're not going to be using up the full 17 + 19 amps available on both the 12vt rails on this poweray though the final final thing in relation to all this is this build came pre-installed with Windows 11 and I'm just noticing how much more sluggish it is than Windows 10 just because I got done testing that other budget setup with similar yet slightly inferior specs it's crazy how much of a difference I personally think on budget systems and really older systems it's a night and day difference having Windows 10 installed over Windows 11 but anyhow let's get on to some juicy cleaning you make me feel let me you like me it so now we've got this whole PC set up it is looking Immaculate and it's also performing well we have to mate it that's right it needs to be mated with a keyboard mouse and monitor to make a complete setup because that is what's going to move it though we have put down a heap of offers right now for a monitors I'm putting out $1 feelers on just a heap of different monitors one person has already got back to me on an ACA 24 in and they said they're happy to show me it working when I come pick it up so we're going to go get that right now and then also I do need to still piece out some budget keyboards and mice I did find an ad on Marketplace for just basic Banger keyboards and mice I said hey can I get two sets for $10 cash pickup and they said okay so we're going to go get that as well and then hopefully while we're picking up that stuff we'll get some of the other fields we put back on other monitors as well as graphics cards which we then put down a heap of different offers across various gpus there was a 7970 they wanted 40 I put down 20 there's also a GT 740 I know you might laugh but if those people are doing is playing Roblox then that will actually do fine that was $10 I offered $5 Aussie on that and then there's also another 7870 I believe it wasn't and then the other GPU we put down an offer on was a R7 270x and it's a gigabyte windforce model so they asking 40 we put down an offer of 20 Aussie so hopefully someone gets back to us and we can piece out all this stuff and get cracka lacking so we've now just picked up one Monitor and also a graphics card here which is a special one because it's a 7970 but it's also really dirty and the guy just told me to leave $20 in his mailbox so I actually just messaged the guy about the ryzen 7 um sorry not ryzen 7 r73 270x and I just said sorry I'm going to cancel that uh $20 offer cuz I got this for $20 and so this is a better card with 3 GB of vram and what we're going to do now is go quickly pick up however that next monitor because that ACA monitor because they're waiting for us so this is funny because we as we're just about to leave the person on this monitor got back to us and that we went and picked that up and then as I picked that up they messaged me about this GPU here and got back to me and I went and just picked that up now so let's finally get that Monitor and hopefully that keyboard and mouse is okay as well because I'm actually sort of running back on time just picking up these other deals so we are now back at the tech yes Studio here with two monitors two keyboards two mice and what looks like a swamp ridden 7970 which we're going to quickly clean this up test it out make sure it works and then we're actually going to get a combo already up for sale so that's going to we're going to spend a bit of time doing this because later on the evening when the person finishes work we're going to go pick up that 3770 combo for $80 which is pretty much going to put us at our budget limit so what I'm going to have to do is probably sell this combo right here and then get a little B more money together for a case and make some magic happen there especially since we're going to have two setups here and that'll put us right up in the stratosphere to sort of like playing around with this older Hardware we can step it up to something more modern so though I got to interlude here and just say I am really enjoying this series already we're into episode 2 and I can already see it's just coming together and it's working and I'm just honestly just having so much fun I haven't had this much fun at techs City in quite a while but I guess that's because I haven't been focused that much on used parts and I do apologize for that going to be definitely getting into more used price performance here especially going forward guys but let's go check if this GPU works and get that setup done all right so we got some really bad news on this GPU and that is it is giving out the good old signal on boot but as soon as you get to Windows the drivers are installed it's uh doesn't work so in other words the gpus is are dud I'm going to go take this GPU back on the way to pick up that i7 3770 so you can see it right now we actually show you what happens uh loads up gets into window you can't even see it getting into Windows cuz the drive is installed and then it just goes dark so that is the classical uh yeah hose job that some people try to do selling these gpus I mean you should just throw it in the bin or just sell it as a faulty GPU which in that case I'm not going to want and also like one of the fans fell off one of the fans doesn't work either so oh man hopefully we get our $20 back it's that bad so we now just had some confrontation with getting our $20 back which we actually did get back in the end but it was a real hassle to get it back and I'm talking about I went to the door they didn't respond to my messages at all and then I went to their door started just knocking for like 10 minutes straight finally someone came to the door it was a couple it was a wife and a husband the wife came to the door and said what's the problem I said you sold me a faulty graphics card and you said it was used in the Adam working fair condition this is not fair condition I just want my 20 bucks back and then she said okay wait at the front of the house um the husband then comes in and comes over and I think she told the husband that I was abusing her or something anyway I met the husband he said have you been abusing my wife and I said I haven't abused anyone I just want my 20 bucks back for something that was misadvertised and then he's like he just runs in gets the 20 bucks gives it back to me and I go anyway let's get onto the good news here this is really good news and this is the i7 3770 motherboard and 32 GB of RAM as well as a 1 TB hard drive and they said it they assured me it works perfectly so I'm glad about that and then they also had a case this is a really good thing they said they had a case where the tempered glass had shattered just randomly for no reason they asked me do I want it and I said absolutely so I guess in this universe of tech used Tech PC parts it all balances out in the end so this is sort of the luck the good luck that makes up for that previous bad luck but man I I mean I should have known that picking up a graphics card in the mailbox this is the second time I've done it and it's the second time it's been a faulty GPU that's had a so I've learned my lesson this time no more graphics cards in mail boxes that is something I've learned we're two for two there in terms of getting hosed but let's get back to the te Studio set this all up and we'll figure out something else for a G so we just finished this PC it is working 100% so the luck that comes after the bad luck of getting hosed maybe I've got to get hosed every now and then because what we got here is a free case that got thrown in but the PC works and we got 32 GB of d D R3 memory so we've taken out 2 8 GB sticks leaving 16 GB in this rig and we still have to find a GPU but what I figured and this is where the where I'm saying it's getting really good in terms of luck we've already got a buyer lined up for that red half setup and that's for 280 and this comes off the back off episode 1 where I put that PC up for sale and it sold almost instantly I had actually quite a few people message me and one of the guys said if you get something in the next couple of weeks m message me I'm patient and let me know what you want for it and so I messaged him with this setup and I said would you be interested in this for 280 and he said yep I'm coming around to pick it up tomorrow morning so that's 280 incoming plus we got the $20 that we got back from that hose GPU job and we did have to pay for detergent wipes as well as that SATA 2 six pin connector so we're going to be at around $3.50 and a rig that we just got a slot in a GPU for so coming into episode 3 we are going going to be in a really good position and the reason I'm actually cutting it off here is cuz we've been filming over 2 days there's a lot of filming that's already done for this episode and basically the more I start filming means The more I've got to edit and after a certain while in Premiere Pro if you edit out too big of a video it actually ends up being very chunky on your computer so I am going to cut this one off here and you guys can stay tuned for episode 3 to see what Madness we get ourselves into the one thing that's going to come out of this episode at least for me is that never get a deal that's left in the mailbox I'm not doing that again another thing is too is always and I mean this always ask for extras when you pick up stuff every person I'm going to picking up a deal I've always asking if they've got something else there if they've got extra cables extra anything because this is one thing one of those monitors we picked up today didn't include any monitor cable but that Lenovo monitor that we got from Cash Converters that had two cables the DVI and the HDMI and now that we've got one of these monitors with a HDMI port we can use that spare cable and we don't have to spend any extra money so that really came in clutch with these setups where we don't have to Source any extra cables so that's one thing that comes out always when you guys are looking for used parts you always ask have you got anything extra and so we also got that power supply for $10 which is fitted in this rig and it's doing a great job well at least once I put a GPU in win I hope it will be too so do stay tuned I think I will make a plan to get maybe a GTX 970 and then sell this rig with the i7 3770 it's actually not a k it's a 3770 but the guy told me that the motherboard you are able to overclock it and because one of those special ASRock boards so I was like okay cool but I'm not going to be overclocking this thing because I don't sell overclocked rigs because I don't want them coming back though such a good position I'm really excited going into episode 3 like I said before in this video I'm just having so much fun with this series I hope you guys are enjoying it as well do let us know in the comments section below what was your favorite part of today's video love reading those thoughts and opinions as always and with that aside I'll catch you in another tech video very soon and hopefully episode three very soon too and if you haven't already and you stay this far and you enjoying that Tech yes content be sure to hit that sub button ring that Bell and I'll see you in the next one peace Al for now byein episode one of the $100 flip up challenge we managed to just and I mean just put together a budget gaming PC setup and then I listed it that night as I released the video and it sold the next morning extremely quick and I actually put it up for $270 Aussie doll even though I only wanted to get 250 for it someone came and picked it up for asking price and so that leaves get the 20 bucks to get their gym membership going where they're actually asking $ 30 Aussie doll for this GPU I put in an offer of 20 and they said come and pick it up so that's what we're going to wasn't and then the other GPU we put down an offer on was a R7 270x and it's a gigabyte windforce model so they asking 40 we put down an offer of 20 Aussie so hopefully someone gets back to us and we can piece out all this stuff and get cracka lacking so we've now just picked up one Monitor and also a graphics card here which is a special one because it's a 7970 but it's also really dirty and the guy just told me to leave $20 in his mailbox so I actually just messaged the guy about the ryzen 7 um sorry not ryzen 7 r73 270x and I just said sorry I'm going to cancel that uh $20 offer cuz I got this for $20 and so this is a better card with 3 GB of vram and what we're going to do now is go quickly pick up however that next monitor because that ACA monitor because they're waiting for us so this is funny because we as we're just about to leave the person on this monitor got back to us and that we went and picked that up and then as I picked that up they messaged me about this GPU here and got back to me and I went and just picked that up now so let's finally get that Monitor and hopefully that keyboard and mouse is okay as well because I'm actually sort of running back on time just picking up these other deals so we are now back at the tech yes Studio here with two monitors two keyboards two mice and what looks like a swamp ridden 7970 which we're going to quickly clean this up test it out make sure it works and then we're actually going to get a combo already up for sale so that's going to we're going to spend a bit of time doing this because later on the evening when the person finishes work we're going to go pick up that 3770 combo for $80 which is pretty much going to put us at our budget limit so what I'm going to have to do is probably sell this combo right here and then get a little B more money together for a case and make some magic happen there especially since we're going to have two setups here and that'll put us right up in the stratosphere to sort of like playing around with this older Hardware we can step it up to something more modern so though I got to interlude here and just say I am really enjoying this series already we're into episode 2 and I can already see it's just coming together and it's working and I'm just honestly just having so much fun I haven't had this much fun at techs City in quite a while but I guess that's because I haven't been focused that much on used parts and I do apologize for that going to be definitely getting into more used price performance here especially going forward guys but let's go check if this GPU works and get that setup done all right so we got some really bad news on this GPU and that is it is giving out the good old signal on boot but as soon as you get to Windows the drivers are installed it's uh doesn't work so in other words the gpus is are dud I'm going to go take this GPU back on the way to pick up that i7 3770 so you can see it right now we actually show you what happens uh loads up gets into window you can't even see it getting into Windows cuz the drive is installed and then it just goes dark so that is the classical uh yeah hose job that some people try to do selling these gpus I mean you should just throw it in the bin or just sell it as a faulty GPU which in that case I'm not going to want and also like one of the fans fell off one of the fans doesn't work either so oh man hopefully we get our $20 back it's that bad so we now just had some confrontation with getting our $20 back which we actually did get back in the end but it was a real hassle to get it back and I'm talking about I went to the door they didn't respond to my messages at all and then I went to their door started just knocking for like 10 minutes straight finally someone came to the door it was a couple it was a wife and a husband the wife came to the door and said what's the problem I said you sold me a faulty graphics card and you said it was used in the Adam working fair condition this is not fair condition I just want my 20 bucks back and then she said okay wait at the front of the house um the husband then comes in and comes over and I think she told the husband that I was abusing her or something anyway I met the husband he said have you been abusing my wife and I said I haven't abused anyone I just want my 20 bucks back for something that was misadvertised and then he's like he just runs in gets the 20 bucks gives it back to me and I go anyway let's get onto the good news here this is really good news and this is the i7 3770 motherboard and 32 GB of RAM as well as a 1 TB hard drive and they said it they assured me it works perfectly so I'm glad about that and then they also had a case this is a really good thing they said they had a case where the tempered glass had shattered just randomly for no reason they asked me do I want it and I said absolutely so I guess in this universe of tech used Tech PC parts it all balances out in the end so this is sort of the luck the good luck that makes up for that previous bad luck but man I I mean I should have known that picking up a graphics card in the mailbox this is the second time I've done it and it's the second time it's been a faulty GPU that's had a so I've learned my lesson this time no more graphics cards in mail boxes that is something I've learned we're two for two there in terms of getting hosed but let's get back to the te Studio set this all up and we'll figure out something else for a G so we just finished this PC it is working 100% so the luck that comes after the bad luck of getting hosed maybe I've got to get hosed every now and then because what we got here is a free case that got thrown in but the PC works and we got 32 GB of d D R3 memory so we've taken out 2 8 GB sticks leaving 16 GB in this rig and we still have to find a GPU but what I figured and this is where the where I'm saying it's getting really good in terms of luck we've already got a buyer lined up for that red half setup and that's for 280 and this comes off the back off episode 1 where I put that PC up for sale and it sold almost instantly I had actually quite a few people message me and one of the guys said if you get something in the next couple of weeks m message me I'm patient and let me know what you want for it and so I messaged him with this setup and I said would you be interested in this for 280 and he said yep I'm coming around to pick it up tomorrow morning so that's 280 incoming plus we got the $20 that we got back from that hose GPU job and we did have to pay for detergent wipes as well as that SATA 2 six pin connector so we're going to be at around $3.50 and a rig that we just got a slot in a GPU for so coming into episode 3 we are going going to be in a really good position and the reason I'm actually cutting it off here is cuz we've been filming over 2 days there's a lot of filming that's already done for this episode and basically the more I start filming means The more I've got to edit and after a certain while in Premiere Pro if you edit out too big of a video it actually ends up being very chunky on your computer so I am going to cut this one off here and you guys can stay tuned for episode 3 to see what Madness we get ourselves into the one thing that's going to come out of this episode at least for me is that never get a deal that's left in the mailbox I'm not doing that again another thing is too is always and I mean this always ask for extras when you pick up stuff every person I'm going to picking up a deal I've always asking if they've got something else there if they've got extra cables extra anything because this is one thing one of those monitors we picked up today didn't include any monitor cable but that Lenovo monitor that we got from Cash Converters that had two cables the DVI and the HDMI and now that we've got one of these monitors with a HDMI port we can use that spare cable and we don't have to spend any extra money so that really came in clutch with these setups where we don't have to Source any extra cables so that's one thing that comes out always when you guys are looking for used parts you always ask have you got anything extra and so we also got that power supply for $10 which is fitted in this rig and it's doing a great job well at least once I put a GPU in win I hope it will be too so do stay tuned I think I will make a plan to get maybe a GTX 970 and then sell this rig with the i7 3770 it's actually not a k it's a 3770 but the guy told me that the motherboard you are able to overclock it and because one of those special ASRock boards so I was like okay cool but I'm not going to be overclocking this thing because I don't sell overclocked rigs because I don't want them coming back though such a good position I'm really excited going into episode 3 like I said before in this video I'm just having so much fun with this series I hope you guys are enjoying it as well do let us know in the comments section below what was your favorite part of today's video love reading those thoughts and opinions as always and with that aside I'll catch you in another tech video very soon and
