Hello and Welcome Back to My Channel!
I'm ETA Prime, and I'm back again today to show you my latest project - a touch screen juke box that I put together using some parts I had laying around. As you can see from the links below, I got everything I needed from Amazon, including the Raspberry Pi 3, a Droid touchscreen, and an amplifier hat from Aerro Droid.
The amplifier hat is really cool because it plugs in at 15 volts and can be run on 10 volts, making it easy to set up. I've tried it out with my USB leads to the touchscreen, and it's surprisingly easy to set up. These just boom pie hats are really awesome, and I'm glad I decided to use them for this project.
I chose Volumio as my music player because of its ease of use. It supports playing your own files from an SD card or external USB drive, and also has built-in web radio with thousands of channels available. However, since I already have all the music I need, I'll be putting it straight on my SD card. I'm also planning to set up a microphone and play some songs to show that it works.
I'll leave my config file below in case you want to get a hold of it and set one of these up for yourself. In fact, I'll be doing a tutorial on Volumio with a touch screen in the next few days, so keep an eye out for that video if you're interested in something like this. If not, no worries at all - I just thought it was cool and wanted to share it with you.
Now, let's take a look at my project up close. As you can see, I've got my Raspberry Pi 3 set up with the Volumio player, along with a Droid touchscreen and a little picture frame that I made myself. The speakers are actually from a local thrift shop, but I'm waiting on some new ones to ship from Amazon - they should sound a lot better than this.
To hold everything together, I 3D printed some little angle brackets to stick to the back of the picture frame, which is holding the LCD screen at an angle. This makes it easy to view the touchscreen, but you could always use metal angle brackets from Lowe's or Home Depot if you prefer. The setup is really easy to do, and I'm glad I decided to share my project with you.
I hope you enjoyed this video, and don't forget to check out the links below for all the parts I used to make this project. They're available on Amazon and other online retailers, so be sure to take a look. Thanks for watching, and I'll catch you in the next video!
