The Author's Experience with the GT710 PC
The author began by describing the two sticks of RAM that came with the GT710 PC, stating that it was actually dual channel which is awesome and impressive. They then loaded into a game, noting that the system somehow managed to feel even slower than Chewbacca in the previous video. The author was optimistic about the settings, having chosen all of them as low, but were struggling to get 24 frames per second at 1080p. To improve performance, they immediately dialed it back to 720p with the lowest settings.
The Author's Experience with CS:GO and Dota
The author then played a game of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) at 1080p low settings, noting that the system was struggling to get more than 24 frames per second. They also played a game of Dota, which is generally considered a demanding game. While not impossible to play, the author found it difficult to spot targets and felt like they were playing with vaseline rubbed in their eyes.
The Author's Experience with Fortnite
The author then played a game of Fortnite, noting that it was almost playable but still had some issues. They also mentioned that the system feels like it was engineered to provide the most terrible gaming experience, just shy of being unplayable. The author seemed impressed by how borderline playable it was.
Gaming Peripherals
The author noted that the gaming peripherals that came with the GT710 PC were some of the worst they had ever seen. They also mentioned that the headset was one of the few redeeming qualities, but only because it wasn't as bad as expected.
Conclusion and Final Thoughts
In conclusion, the author's experience with the GT710 PC was a mixed bag. While it was well-constructed and surprisingly put together, the system itself is not suitable for gaming at high resolutions or performance settings. The author noted that this is due to several factors, including the lack of an NVIDIA GPU (which they assume would be necessary for a decent gaming experience) and the subpar peripherals.
The author also mentioned that there are three options available in this price point: spending more money for a pre-built system with better performance, sourcing a used gaming system from Craigslist, or buying a console. The author suggested that these options were not ideal but did highlight some of the benefits of each route.
Finally, the author noted that the motherboard in the GT710 PC has a PCIe slot, which they were able to utilize by acquiring a PCIe-to-PCI slot adapter. They expressed interest in installing an NVIDIA GPU into this slot and documenting their experience with a follow-up video.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: entoday is one of those videos that feels a bit like doing an episode of to catch a predator you know that show where a guy goes onto the internet pretending to be an impressionable youth that thinks that salad tossing involves actual letters and then after they actually ensnare the person they spend like 20 minutes making fun of them on public access television that's kind of what this feels like because i actually bought a gt710 gaming pre-built off of ebay now according to the listing for the bargain price of 360 pounds not only do we get a gt-710 gaming system but also a whole free set of peripherals you spoil me in here we have the free monitor along with uh some peripherals down there as well this is a a mixed brand monitor so i'm curious to see what we ended up getting here we've got a joel set of e-waste peripherals but at least they're gaming e-waste peripherals because of the rgb here we've got the free gaming headset which looks like something that came with a walkman from 1875. there's also a nice old dell monitor stand in here so i guess we're getting some double office monitor oh we've also got some sick mouse pads no way it actually comes with a vga cable that's that's always promising the case is a kit g-force wait is that a parallel port oh there's gonna be so much peel on this bad boy glossy piano black plastic always classy oh and there she is in all her beauty on the front we've actually got a door on the case which i actually think is a feature that's sorely missed on a lot of modern cases we've got a dvd drive in the back here with i think this is a fan hub that's a not great feeling switch there but that's fine uh and then we've got an sd card slot with what looks like a sim slot actually further down we've got some piano black gloss with what looks like very restricted front ventilation but it's front ventilation so that's better than nothing on the top here we've got an emasculatingly large power button along with a decent front i o although this usb 3 port is most likely not going to be a functioning usb 3 port considering the age of the internals around the back we've got rear i o that that'll make lgr blush along with a usb wi-fi module and then finally we have the legendary gaming powerhouse the gt710 opening this pc up i'm kind of shocked actually aside from the obvious hilarious shortcomings uh there's a lot good going on here first off the cable management is immaculate whoever built this pc really knows their way around a cable and took some time and effort to do it properly it's it's really good and then we also have dual channel ram in a 360 pound pc what the hell is going on here i can't believe that so regardless of what happens for the rest of the video this is the best prebuilt i've ever seen although hold up things get much less rosy though when you have a closer look at the components in this system the cpu under here i'm not entirely sure what it is but i think it's a second gen core i5 so something like a 2400 which is quite an old cpu at this point the graphics card as we all know is a gt710 this is actually a ddr3 variant of the card which is kind of like a loser variant of the loser card around the back things aren't looking as impressive but bear in mind this does look like a difficult case to build in and this is by far the best built terrible system that i've ever seen oh i wonder what power supply we're working with though we've got a kit atv pro which is a 500 watt 80 plus bronze rated unit now this is a very budget power supply as you'd expect considering the price point of this system and there aren't really reviews thoroughly testing this unit online so i don't know what kind of reliability you'd be getting here with that let's have a quick closer look at the peripherals oh in terms of the free monitor this just looks like a dowel that they found in a bin outside an old office building uh but i mean it should have decent image quality because it is an old dell monitor oh it's so sticky oh this keyboard is a grade e-waste the mouse seems a little bit better we've also got some rgb on here with a dpi button that's very fancy oh damn oh this mouse and this mousepad do not like each other do am i using it the wrong way around oh yeah the base of the mousepad does work better is that holy crap that image quality i don't think i've ever heard of bullguard internet security yes that is what this is this is like this is like kirkland brand mcafee firewalls parental pc tune game booster okay well we've got game optimization enabled so that should get at least 20 more performance out of that gt710 i mean 20 of nothing is still terrible but gg cleaner gcleaner oh this is like boomer disc defrag software oh that's exciting okay we've changed it over to 1080p so that's that's better now at least it fills the entire monitor i don't have access to any of the monitor controls let me quickly google how to unlock an old dowel monitor hold it for 15 seconds yay there we go okay so now we should have access to the please tell me this isn't as bright as this monitor does oh it's very much not okay it looks way better now in terms of bloatware there's not much more than these random pieces of software that they installed on it uh it's it's not great but it's not like acer level you know so it's not that bad the other thing that i wanted to check is what hardware we actually have in here because i'm not sure what cpu this is uh yes it is indeed an i5 2400 that we have in here and then we've got 16 gigs of ram it's ddr3 1600 megahertz and it's two sticks so it is actually dual channel which is awesome and then here we have our gt 710 hell yeah uh okay so this is like 45 minutes later or something um and we're finally loading into a game this pc somehow manages to feel even slower than chewie did in the last video okay luckily the game load didn't take that long um now i'm again being very optimistic here with the settings it's all on the lowest but we are using 1080p ooh okay so we're we're struggling to get 24 frames per second here let me just immediately dial it back to 720p here at 720p with the lowest settings looking really fresh on this monitor if you've never had a gaming system before and you didn't know that video games was a thing before this yeah this isn't completely unacceptable i guess here we have cs go running at 1080p low settings and it's got that very particular gt710 input lag thing if you buy this system for your kid to play cs go online they are going to get pawned all day long so if you drop the resolution down to 1360 by 768 it helps reduce the input lag quite a lot it's still there but it's it's definitely reduced the only problem is that it becomes quite difficult to spot targets like it's it's oh oh there's many of them here they weren't difficult to spot at all here with 1080p low settings dota is actually playable i think this is usable even for like ranked play to be fair dota will run well on an oscilloscope so you know big surprise there considering the marketing strategy for this pc um it is imperative that it runs fortnite well it's almost like it was engineered in a lab to provide the most terrible experience just shy of being unplayable i'm actually kind of impressed by how borderline playable it is it feels like i'm playing with vaseline rubbed in my eyes you obviously don't need to see if you're super badass oh it like really hurts my eyes so if you're a parent looking for cruel and unusual punishment for your kids buy one of these for them to play fortnite on and laugh as they irreparably damage their eyes that'll teach them at the end of the day the gaming experience and the general desktop usability of the system is awful but we all knew that going into this right it's not like we were expecting it not to run like a doped up sloth and not only that but the gaming peripherals are also some of the worst i've ever seen aside from the headset that was way better than i was expecting but again to be fair i was expecting it to give me head crabs and as far as i know it hasn't done that yet and i think what this is quite effectively showed again is that unfortunately in this price point you can't afford the convenience of pressing buy on a website and having a decent gaming system delivered to your door your options are either spend more money for a decent pre-build or go and watch a bunch of videos on youtube about how to effectively knife battle on the streets for craigslist deals and then kind of source your own used gaming system or you can buy a console those are kind of your three options in this price point and then finally i just want to mention again that this system was surprisingly well put together it may be a predatory ebay scam but it's the most well constructed predatory ebay scam i've ever seen i've seen systems that cost three times as much with not as much effort put into the build so yeah at least it's got that going for it which is nice oh yes and on a final final note which i very nearly forgot the motherboard in this pc has a pci slot and i was recently able to acquire this pcie to pci slot so let me know in the comment section down below if you want me to do a follow-up video where i jam like a 3080 ti into the pci slot on this motherboard which brings me to the end of the video if you want to support more
