The Arrival of iOS 12.1 Beta 3: A Surprisingly Significant Update
Hey guys, I was hoping that iOS 12.1 beta 3 has arrived today and what seemed like a small update at first actually has some very nice surprises. Let's break down those changes.
Upon updating from iOS 12.0 to the new beta, I noticed a considerable upgrade, with almost three gigabytes of new content added to my device. Before updating, I had iOS 7.21 available, but after installing the latest beta, it took almost an entire gigabyte away from my phone's storage. It's essential to keep this in mind if you have a smaller storage device, as it might require some extra space to upgrade.
One of the most notable changes in iOS 12.1 beta 3 is the overhaul of the lockscreen. When you go to unlock your device, you may notice that the buttons appear a little different. This change was initially puzzling, but further investigation revealed that Apple has actually overlayed the text on top of the buttons. Upon closer inspection, I realized that the actual text is larger for all the numbers and letters underneath them, especially noticeable on devices with squared displays like the iPhone 10 Pro Max. The buttons themselves are also larger, although the difference might be subtle.
This change affects not only the lockscreen but also the phone application itself. When you open the Phone app, you'll notice that the text is larger and the actual bubbles are larger as well, albeit only on some devices. This unique design element adds a touch of elegance to the interface, making it more visually appealing.
Another significant change in iOS 12.1 beta 3 concerns the multitasking menu in the background. In previous betas, apps wouldn't be fully blurred when switching between them; however, Apple has now fixed this issue with their latest update. This change should enhance the overall user experience, especially for those who frequently switch between multiple apps.
For users who have experienced issues with Face ID, iOS 12.1 beta 3 brings a new feature that might seem like a minor change at first but holds significant importance. If Face ID is broken on your device, you'll now receive a notification on the lockscreen. Additionally, when you navigate to the Face ID menu, you'll find an error message that explains the issue. This update is specifically designed for devices with a damaged Face ID module and serves as a warning to users who have experienced such issues.
One feature that was initially promised by Apple but didn't make it into previous betas is now finally available in iOS 12.1 beta 3. The company has started implementing haptic touch to various areas of the iPhone, including the notification menu. When you hold on a notification and release it, you'll feel a gentle tactile feedback, similar to 3D Touch. This feature wasn't present before but is now a welcome addition to the iOS experience.
In another notable update, Apple has updated the watch app for iOS 12.1 beta 3. The Apple Watch Series 4, which was previously represented by an iPhone with an e-crown, now boasts a sleeker design with reduced branding. This change might seem like a minor tweak, but it reflects Apple's ongoing efforts to refine their ecosystem and provide users with a more streamlined experience.
Finally, the latest beta includes a Geekbench test that shows a slight performance improvement compared to the previous version. The score has dropped slightly from 12.1 (single-core) to 11.9 (multi-core), but this shouldn't be cause for concern, as it's still a minor adjustment.
In conclusion, iOS 12.1 beta 3 is more than just a minor update; it brings a plethora of significant changes that enhance the overall user experience. From the revamped lockscreen to the implementation of haptic touch and improved multitasking, this update has something for everyone. As always, stay tuned for further updates, as there's still more news coming in!

updated from 12.1 considerable upgrade almost three gigabytes here before updating I had 7.21 available after it actually took almost an entire gigabyte away from my phone so do keep that in mind if you have a smaller storage device it might take a little bit of extra storage to upgrade so there are some very unusual changes in this one primarily from the lockscreen if you go to unlock your device you may notice that these buttons appear a little bit different that's because they actually are first I thought that there is no way but actually overlaying it in Photoshop the actual text is larger for all the numbers and the letters underneath them on my iPhone 10's max on some devices with the squared display the actual buttons are larger as well as I shown here so you will notice that there is a small difference there and actually going into the phone application the same thing applies here so the text is larger and the actual bubbles are larger only on some devices so definitely is an interesting change there and for some devices when you would open up the multitasking menu in the background the apps wouldn't be fully blurred Apple has now fixed that in its latest beta and also something that I noticed that I've never noticed before after updating this device if face ID is broken you'll now get a new notification on the lockscreen and going into the face ID menu this is available up here so previously it would try and scan and scan your face so many times now it just doesn't work and gives you this error message up here this is only applying to the devices with a broken face ID module must be a pretty widespread issue that if you drop your iPhone face ID will break and Apple implemented this little warning message right here also some older features from the last betas I didn't cover Apple is actually bringing a haptic touch to different areas on the iPhone 10 or just like they promised so they started with the notification menu now in the latest beta if you actually hold on a notification you'll feel the haptic touch just like 3d touch when you let go you get another one so it's very nice and it wasn't there before now it is in 12 point 1.1 and take a look at that watch app that is the updated Apple watch series 4 on the icon previously it was the series 3 with an e crown completely filled in so Apple made a nice little update there and updated the icon in the last beta and not directly related to I was twelve point one point one but in the latest watch was beta five point one point two if you actually swipe up to the control center you now have the walkie-talkie icon right there available and it's in yellow so kind of cool okay and Geekbench time so let's see if we can get any kind of different score here on the latest beta here's the score for twelve point one point one just dropped a little from twelve point one nothing to worry about so there it is guys I was twelve point one point one brings some very interesting changes small stuff but a bigger update than initially we thought so thanks for watching guys I'll have a news update for you later today stay tuned for that pacehey guys I was hoping 1.1 beta 3 has arrived today
