LGR - Thrifts [Ep.14] Y2K Spaceball

Thrifting: A Thrilling Adventure

As I stepped into the Goodwill store, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. I had been feeling under the weather all week, but my enthusiasm for thrifting knew no bounds. My friend and I were on a mission to find some great deals, and we didn't care about the weather or our energy levels. We were going to make the most of this shopping trip, regardless of how I was feeling.

The first thing we did was check out the glass case near the front of the store. It was filled with all sorts of new games that had been left over from Target. While it wasn't exactly what I was looking for, I was happy to see some familiar titles among the selection. As we browsed through the case, my friend pointed out a sign on the wall that read "You are shopping at Goodwill in North Carolina." It was a fun touch, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride knowing that I was supporting a local business.

As we continued to explore the store, we stumbled upon some unexpected treasures. One of the items caught my eye - it was a right here sticker with a message from Tony Stewart's racing team. The sticker read "Certified by Joe Gibbs Racing of NASCAR" and featured one of Stewart's tires. It was a small find, but it added to the excitement of our thrifting adventure.

My friend and I were both music lovers, and we spent some time browsing through the CDs on display. We came across an old CD that caught my eye - it was called "Learning to Speak Five Modern Languages" from the late 1950s. While I couldn't help but chuckle at the idea of learning a new language in such an outdated way, I knew that this find wasn't exactly what we were looking for.

Just then, I spotted something that really caught my eye - it was a Bratz! Rock Angelz CD. I had been a fan of the Bratz dolls as a kid, and I couldn't resist the opportunity to add this album to my collection. Unfortunately, there was no disc included with the purchase, which was a bit of a bummer.

However, my luck changed when we stumbled upon a Cirque Glidepoint Portable touchpad for desktop computers. It was an unusual find, but one that I was excited about nonetheless. My friend and I were also browsing through some old computer software when we came across a piece called Drafix QuickCAD. These types of tools always fascinated me, and at just $7, it seemed like a great deal.

As we continued to explore the store, my friend and I stumbled upon an amazing find - Microsoft Flight Simulator version 5.0 for DOS. This was something that I had never seen before, and I couldn't believe my luck when I realized that I actually didn't have this version of the game. It was a great addition to our collection, and one that I knew we would both enjoy.

We also found another surprise - Need for Speed Most Wanted for the PSP, although unfortunately the disc wasn't included with the purchase. My friend and I were both fans of racing games, and this title seemed like a great find. When we stumbled upon an Impossible Mission game for the Wii, my friend's eyes lit up. It was a remake that I hadn't heard about before, and I was excited to try it out.

As we continued our thrifting adventure, we came across another surprise - Sonic Colors for the Nintendo DS. My friend had mentioned that this title was hard to find, so when we saw it on the shelf, we knew we had to grab it. The price was a bit steep at $5, but we both agreed that it was worth taking a chance on.

My final discovery of the day was an Atari 2600 console. It was in pretty good condition, and I was excited to see one of these classic consoles up close. The only downside was that there was no power cable included with the purchase, which wasn't ideal. However, at $29, it seemed like a great deal nonetheless.

As we made our way out of the store, my friend and I were both grinning from ear to ear. We had found some amazing treasures, and we couldn't wait to dive into our new additions. Thrifting may not have been easy when I was feeling under the weather, but it ended up being a thrilling adventure that we would always remember.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enMan, I've been feelin' sick all friggin' week. But who cares? Not anymore.Let's go thrifting.I'm not feeling terribly adventurous today,so we're just going to hit up a FEW Goodwills.Checking out the glass case near the front first off and...yeah, pretty much just the typical randomassortment of new games left over from Target.Although, right next to the case you have this right herewhich lets you know that you are INDEEDshopping at a Goodwill in North Carolina.Yes, this is one of Tony Stewart's tires.Certified by Joe Gibbs Racing of NASCAR.Oooh... Learning to Speak Five Modern Languages.Well, modern in the late '50s, it appears.Although, I guess they haven't changed too much, but, yeah, not exactly what I'm looking for today.Aaah, this is more my style! Bratz! Rock Angelz! And, of course, there was no disc inside. What a loss. Now, here's something that ACTUALLY strikes my fancy. This is the Cirque Glidepoint Portable.Perhaps a future bit of Oddware here. This is basically a touchpad for your desktop.Speaking of different, here's a piece of CAD software. This is Drafix QuickCAD?These things always intrigued me,but for seven bucks it's a bit much.Course, something that I just can't pass upfor seven dollars is Microsoft Flight Simulator! This is version 5.0 for DOS.Really cool, I actually did not have this version. Also found Need for Speed Most Wantedfor the PSP, but of course the disc is not inside.Jerks!Oh, hey! Yeah, whatever, I'll take a chance on itand the box is really cool.I like that sort of holo-foil thing going on.Ooh, an Atari 2600!Looks to be in pretty decent shape. And $29, it at least does come with the video cable. No power cable, though.Ah, whatever, I've already got a ton of thesebut it's still cool to see them in the wild.Speaking of \"in the wild,\" look at this wild thing! This right here, besides looking rather hideous,is a Hewlett-Packard SpaceBall. This is made for, well, CAD programsas well as other 3D design stuff. This lets you manipulate things in3D space, supposedly more easily. It's just too odd not to pick up.Ooh, yeah! Tiger Electronics game, here is Ninja Gaiden.Only a dollar! Awesome price, totally would have gotten it,but the screen looks completely ruined. It's all mashed up and there'ssome, like, weird stuff going onwith the liquid crystal, so, agh, that sucks!Oh, hey, what's this box up here? And, of course, over in the women's accessories,I found all of these Saints Row IVWub Wub Special Editioncollector's edition items.Thirty bucks for 'em, though? That's just way too friggin' much, but, yeah, it's always amusingwhen you find all this stuffat Goodwill. Look at all these thingsfor Dead Island: Riptide as well.Aw, and then down here.Oh, poor Duke. Yeah, these arethe Duke Nukem Forever buststhat came with the \"Balls of Steel\" edition of the game.Aw, what happened?Sorry, Duke, that's what youget when Gearbox releasesa sub-par game about you andnobody buys the Special Editions!Over in the random junk section,I found some random junkas well as this right here. This is a mousepadfrom Ducks Unlimited that alsocomes with Duck Hunter Pro.OK, well that's just weird enough that I've gotta get it,especially for $2.This game is apparently by Headgames.Yep, the same people that did Extreme Paintbrawland Extreme Boards & Blades.Aw, man, are these—Are these Shake Weights?EuuuughYepOh yeah, that's definitely what they areand now I feel dirty. How did they ever sell these things?Eugh, anyway, I think after thatI need to go to the Salvation Army Store. And right inside, uh, oh, there's a lionessjust chillin' over here on the couch.Nice lion!Back in the puzzles and board games, though,I happened to run across something that's for the PC.This right here is Interplay Gamefest.Yes, it comes with Starfleet Academy:Chekov's Lost Missions,Star Trek: New Worlds,Starfleet Academy: Strategic Command, andjust Starfleet Command.Yeah, normally I skip onshovelware compilations like this, but, yeah, Star Trek, man! You'd have to use the Force to resist this!Over in the books, I happened to run acrossan Animated Storybook.I do like some of these, but the only ones that I really collectare the ones that I remember playing as a youngster. And, oh, Pooh, this is not one of them.Over in the generic CDs, I found somegeneric PSOne games, althoughIt's the wrong direction that drives me crazy!Anyway, this is Q*bert. Oh, cool, this isa game I didn't have, may as well get it.Also happened to run acrossExtreme Pinball for the PSOne.Which is awesome, I didn't have it for this system. And this is the sequel toEpic Pinball, one of my favorites.Oh, hey, Top Gun Jets on VHS!Aw, man, this looks like one of those thingsI would have borrowed from the library years agoand just, like, watched and thought it was so cool.'Cause being a little boy in 'MuricaOh, here's a box that I just cannot resist! This is full of travel adapters from, looks like the past thirty years.Yeah, I don't know why, but I find thesekind of collections just fascinating.I seriously spent like ten minutes looking atevery one of these in detail. It was awesome.Over in the electronics, happened to find aComShare 350 telephone line sharing device?Talk about one of the most boring things everand also something that is so woefullyobsolete now that it is completely useless.Kind of love it.Over in the keyboards, though,I did find something of interestand, uh, that is underneath these others here. This is an Apple ADB Extended Keyboard. These are quite well-knownkeyboards for '90s Apple usersand I already have quite a fewof them or I would have gotten it,but it did get me looking around for other Apple thingsjust in case somebody droppedoff some stuff, and they did!I found a case over here full of 3½\" Apple floppy disks, all of it looking to be for software forPower Macs, the 6100, 7100, and 8100 seriesand system 7.5I already have all of this stuff and, plus, all of it I think is for freeto download through Apple nowadays,so yeah, I had no need for any of itbut it was still cool. You don't normally see loose floppies. And lastly, moving on to my favorite Goodwill.and, hey, the construction is pretty much complete. They're just finishing up the parking lot over here.Ooh, and look! They've added automatic doors! It's like the future! And, yep, the section here is just about finished off. They're really just adding some flooring and fixturesand it will be ready to use.I anticipate the next episodewe'll be walking through here. All things considered, it's looking pretty good.Except for the other side of the store over herewhere they've completely started ripping it up instead.Looks like they're building some sort of trainingcenter or something for employees over here. This is where the clothing used to be,so I'm assuming that other sectionis going to be full of clothing now.Anyway, over in the rest of the store,Let's take a look at the auction case'cause there's always someinteresting stuff that I'll never have.Like some pretty sweet air riflesand samurai swords and other weaponry. And a bunch of video games.Aw, man, some cool Atari 2600 stuffand even cooler NES stuff over here.I mean, there's a lot of games, but, oh, those poor boxes!Ew-hew! This isn't creepy at all! This is a seriously old-school baby carriage... thing.I-I don't even know. There's gotta be a proper term for thisbecause this is fully involved! It's got, like, hoods or bonnets,or I don't even know what you call it.And those giant wheels and the, the... wire everything, and it's all set for horror movies!Oh, look, an actual piggy bank.Ah, man, you know, I've alwayswanted to buy one of thesejust so I could money in it andsmash it with a hammer.Like, that's the only reason I want one. Is that wrong?Speaking of wrong...Oh, dear! This is a...classic wildlife collection, but I don't...remember seeing any classicwildlife that looks like a cerberus. That's quite the striking statue,I gotta say. It's kinda cool.Perusing the electronics, and,eh, it's mostly junk today.Well, except for this down here. This is an old GE tube TV.I just love the look of these kinds of TVs.And you know, if I had morespace, I would so collect them.I just like old TVs like this. I love the switches.I love the tubes themselves, and the hum and, like, the heat, and, ah, it's just really cool.On the opposite end of the technology spectrum,we have a frickin' Sony Blu-ray player! This is a BDP-S300.Crazy that these things arealready showing up at Goodwill. This is actually the second one that I have seenrecently for, like, under $30 or $40.And just looking around the pots and pansand crappy coffee makers, and well,I don't know why this was here, but there was a PSone controller.Like, the actual PS-\"One.\"I really like the style of these. They have a cool connector on the endand the R2 and L2 buttons are nicely shaped.Over in the puzzles and board games, and I saw quite a puzzling thing.Oh, yeah, Print Master Gold: Bonus Pack.I have actually been looking for PrintMaster Gold, a very specific version, for a long time now, so I always check these out.And unfortunately, this is not that version. The one I'm looking for is...Well, I mean, I'll know it when I see it,but it's the one I had as a kid.One of these days, it'll be mine!Until then, hey, why not get this?Survive the Millennium Bug!Protect your PC while there's still time!Year 2000! Aw, Y2K.It was such a big deal. No it wasn't.It, it was a big deal for no friggin' reason, basically,but... this is my kind of thing, man!Heading towards the front again, and, ugh,on an end cap over here, look at this!Ah, Windows 98. Second edition. It's the upgrade, and you know, I passed on one of thesea couple episodes ago. This one is, like, the oppositeof that. It's in fantastic shape.Oh, and underneath that,it had SimCity 2000: Special Edition. My favorite version of one of my favorite games ever. And yes, I already own, like, ten ofthese things, so I don't need another one,but it's just really cool to see such a nice condition copyjust out in Goodwill like this.Over in the games, there's a pretty cool little find. For someone, not me. This is Super Mario 64.I already own it, or I would have gotten it,especially because it's only $3!I think this is the cheapest versionof this game that I have ever seen.At least in a store like this.Checking out the music CDs, 'cause why not,and well... I'm glad I did. This is Daggerfall. But not just normal Daggerfall, this is the Interactive Preview disc.Basically a demo that they sold or distributedwith magazines and stuff like that.Really, really cool to find this as a lover of Daggerfall. And one other thing caught my eye hereand that is Guy Spy and the Crystals of Armageddon.A DOS cartoon adventure game that's verysimilar to Dragon's Lair, from what I understand.Never played it, but hey, maybe I will now!And that is all for Episode 14 of Thrifts. We got nine games, one of 'em with a mousepad, two software packages, one PSone controller, one goofy-looking Spaceball thing, and one trackpad for desktop computers. All for about $41 total. This was a fun haul.I didn't go too many placesand got some cool stuff anyway. And definitely came across someinteresting things in the store as well. Some of these items I may never actually use.Like, seriously, the Spaceball?I don't know, I'll probably do an Oddware video on it or somethingif I can get the software for it, but yeah.Definitely some games and gaming devicesthat I will be playing with in here for sure. And I'll be really curious tovisit that Goodwill store next timeand see the hopefully complete construction. That's it for this video, though, and I hope you enjoyed. And if you did, then you might want tocheck out some of my other thrifting videos. There are 13 more prior to this, andprobably gonna be a lot more in the future,so stay tuned for that. You can also subscribe if you would liketo be notified when more of them appear. And you can also follow and interact withme and others on Twitter and Facebook. You can also support the show on Patreon. It also lets you see episodeslike this before anyone else. And as always, thank you very much for watching,as well as thank you for sendingin your viewer finds once again. You all are just finding tons ofawesome stuff out there thrifting.Keep sending them my way.Send them to my email address. That's the easiest way to get them to me.Still getting more than I can post here, but you know, that's how it goes. And yeah, that is it.
