The Hot Hatch Shoot: A Closer Look at Audi's TT RS and BMW's M140i

As we take a stroll around the Audi stand, we come across the TT RS with Audi's new sport performance parts. This two-door car is equipped with 400 horsepower straight six engine, making it a force to be reckoned with in the hot hatch territory. The sport performance parts add an aggressive touch to the car, with a wing that's held in place by swan struts and leaning over to accentuate its design. The massive carbon strut brace in the rear and the seats pulled out make the car look even more menacing.

The new sport performance parts are designed to enhance the overall look of the car, making it ridiculously badass for a factory Audi model. The red stripes on the vertical slats add a pop of color that complements the Nagaro blue finish perfectly. It's clear that Audi has put a lot of thought into designing these sport performance parts, which can be fitted to the TT RS to give it an even more aggressive look.

Moving on to the BMW stand, we find the M140i, a car that's making waves in the hot hatch territory with its impressive performance and technology. The M140i is priced at 47,000 euros, which is significantly lower than the top-of-the-line BMW models. The satin paint job sets it back an additional 3,000 euros but still offers a massive saving compared to other BMWs.

The styling of the M140i is noteworthy, with copper accents that add a touch of sophistication to the car's design. The carbon fiber trim and copper-tinted vents give the interior a premium feel, while the checkered flag logo on top of the gearshift adds a sporty touch. The M140i comes with 310 horsepower under the hood, making it a formidable opponent in the hot hatch bracket.

A glance at the bag reveals more details about the M140i's performance, including cool exhaust pipes and a carbon wing on the top. It's clear that BMW has focused on providing features that enhance the driving experience, rather than just prioritizing performance. The M140i is available for purchase now and promises to deliver an exciting driving experience.

The rise of hot hatches in recent years has been nothing short of astonishing, with cars like the TT RS and M140i pushing the boundaries of what's possible in terms of performance and technology. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys i'm schmie and today i am with benzine hi guys and we're at the frankfurt motor show we're going to take a look at some hot hatches like this one behind us like this one indeed for this the mini john cooper works gp concept that ben you've actually spent more time than i have already looking at this yeah it's a bit of an animal isn't it it's completely crazy with the extra parts and particularly the rear wing is just insane all the little bits of sort of race tech on it i really love the fuel intakes on the side there very sort of endurance racing inspired now there was a gp1 of the first generation numinia gp2 so this is hinting at what could become a gp3 but it looks more like mini challenge race cars it does doesn't it something you're quite familiar with i am indeed and you've got all of this carbon fiber all of these parts yeah like carbon our carbon yeah it's pretty crazy and then the lights i love the lights are awesome the union jack sort of uh concept if you took them and put them side by side you'd have the union jack flag yeah bit of pride in there and if you swap them around you'd have them pointing in the right direction but look at the wing look at those sort of vents and it's crazy isn't it the fins yeah and you can see as the car comes around inside completely stripped out roll cage in there race seats it's just it's just good to go onto the racetrack straight away immediately so this is the first car we're gonna go take a little look around the motor show at a number of different places that have been launched here some that are already here it's a very real world market it's quite interesting so we're going to show you guys the best bits yeah let's go find them here's one we're a little bit familiar with then ben the honda civic type r one of my least favorite cars in the world of afraid um just too much too much is definitely the key word yeah and too much that doesn't do very much as well you know things like this is just completely non-functional and yeah purely blocked up not for me it's definitely not for me and the carbon is interesting as well i can see looking around at this this carbon is quite nice yeah spoiler i mean it's a crazy design but it's quite nice up there yeah you've got bits of genuine carbon which do come on this car uh this car features all the different optional uh packs on it but then even with all the packs it's teamed with a sort of fake carbon down here even though it's next to real carbon on these vertical fins so a bit of a mishmash really if you come around to front it is quick it is very very quick record front wheel drive record at the nurburgring yeah is it which is pretty impressive of course yeah but it's not what the type r i would say always was it's not no when it first sort of came out i remember it being quite a clean design almost like a wedge of cheese in the way it's again the shape but now it's it's so busy it's really turned me off from it i have to say yeah so not necessarily scoring too many points with us here the new type r but we'll head around some redeeming points the interior is actually quite nice genuine carbon here on the dash some alcantara as well carbon with red inlay too yeah which is really fancy um so some redeeming points there now next up is the focus rs and you're thinking we have seen this car before the focus rs is not here in fact i have a nitrous blue focus rs but this is the new edition and the edition has a front limited slip diff a couple of cosmetic differences with the satin black mirrors the roof and the spoiler at the back as well with the blue rs logos in there which we actually did on mine but they're only going to be 500 of these it's also about the driving experience show the inside too it's got some new blue trim on the recaro sport seats still otherwise as we know it 350 horsepower six-speed manual hilarious fun all-wheel drive with drift mode with a four-wheel drive drift mode with the 500 limited edition cars all in the nitrous blue paint which does look very good have a look at the paintwork here under the lights properly sparkly one of the most metallic paints you've actually probably ever seen but focus rs again a car that's had a couple of generations this was the mark iii focus rs um in the us they actually get a red version of the special limited edition unfortunately no signs of that here in europe yet right just blue it will be and i'm down for one of these as well to change my focus rs to a new focus rs i do quite enjoy it so that's why next we have the world premiere of the new renault megane rs and i have to say the looks are quite controlled and restrained they are renault put out some pretty funky looking hatchbacks over the years but this is still fairly striking with the tonic orange stands out really well particularly when paired with a few black accents front grille wing mirrors and i'm a big fan down here the front lower headlights with the checkered flag motif that represents renault's rs models quite sporty and they really are going for records with this car because it is a hatchback well with 280 horsepower but it's the first hatchback to feature four control four-wheel steering in a hatchback now you see that in porsche 911's luxury cars supercars luxury gt cars but never before in a hatchback shaped car so that's quite a new introduction to go after lap records yeah it must be a really interesting drive a lot of handling performance and 280 brakes so it's not slow in a straight line either i would really like to drive that one day and talking about the design most of the design of the car it has subtle sporty highlights the shape through the door the lower sides the wheels quite an aggressive interesting design yeah but five-door hatch probably an awful lot of fun hopefully we'll have a drive in one of these in the not-too-distant future see what it's about now we're on the hyundai stand where i don't think i've probably ever filmed a video before but we've come to take a look at the new i30n it's been launched here as well and represents both the fact that it was born in nam yang but honed at the nurburgring so some track potential from this thing indeed and it puts out 275 brake horsepower from a two liter turbocharged engine so it's probably pretty nippy it's also displayed here in the sort of light blue color seen on other cars on the stand all the sort of race variant cars they have quite an interesting feature about the car it has rev matching which i don't think is on any other model in this bracket very interesting for a hot hatch so it's going to match the revs for you as you downshift and as we come to around towards the rear one of the things that strikes me more back here is the sporty intent i suppose with the spoiler over the top of the rear window down at the bottom the twin exhaust one on each side as well as what has got some red accents around it it does yeah around the front as well you can see on the lower side of the splitter moving around here as well the brake calipers in that bright red gives it a nice little sporty touch like you say it's a funny almost choice of color because you don't associate light blue with being sporty race cars no but with the black contrast it's got a black roof on top as well and the the accents as we've mentioned it looks kind of cool 275 horsepower i imagine it's quite a bit of fun to drive this segment is really quite interesting with cars like this and the megan and the others we've shown you so far but there is also more to see so let's continue now at the vw stand we actually start with a mark one golf gti bit of an icon spawned a generation of cars and if becky was here right now i think she'd be absolutely loving it so this has gone all the way from the mark one where you have distinct highlights they've carried through to the modern day like having the red touches in the grille if we come round to the interior this particular kind of material in the center and the golf ball gear stick as well so that is a volkswagen classic restored car but we have more gti's here to take a look at starting with the gti golf or golf gti performance so this is the facelift of the mark 7 i think yep but it still maintains those touches which you can see around the front with the red stripe through the grille and going through the headlights yeah i really like the way it continues through into the headlights there it's quite cool if we do get a look at the interior we can also see the same sort of features carried on the tartan seat covers and also the golf ball gear stick much the same in here through every generation of golf you will find exactly that on the mall and 200 and something horsepower 345 horsepower uh two liter engine so all the cars in this sort of bracket are in that neighborhood aren't they two liter engine between two and 300 horsepower i mean you do have the golf r that sits above the new r with the blue touches that's introduced above gti but a gti is a gti isn't it yes it's set up with beautiful handling and driving style and characteristics but while we're here we also have the up gti at the tiny end of the spectrum yep which is less powerful than misha's sub 7 up yes and if we spin around this side we also have the new polo gti so the brand i guess expanding for sure and again we can see those themes continued with the red stripe going through the lights and the front grille and to be honest bang for your buck this is probably very good it comes nicely equipped it's got the same styling cues on the inside i mean if we come and have a look at the rear of the car here you can see with the seats in there too this particular one's actually an automatic so no no golf ball in here no manual but photo gti subtle styling but i think that's what it's supposed to do it's yeah refined but it still carries those themes through it that really help build that strong brand identity yeah that's what it's all about with the gti or gtd or whichever it may be so from there so this whole range of cars that you have now jumping over to sister stand we're on audi and the rs3 now this is obviously not a new car but ben recently drove an rs3 an rs3 salute i did so if you want to hear what i had to say about that car you can find my video on it somewhere on the channel and also while we're here a new product from audi is the rs4 event which is technically a hatch albeit an estate it has a hatchback so it counts but what i'm going to swing around and come and have a look at through here is actually the tt rs with audi's new sport performance parts so we know the ttrs it is a two-door with a rear hatch so i suppose we can almost call it hyper hatch territory if you know how big this thing goes 400 horsepower straight six but these sport performance parts if you come around the car you've got this wing with swan struts leaning over to hold it you've got this massive carbon strut brace in the rear with the seats pulled out it's a huge diffuser on the back red stripes on the vertical slats it all just contributes to an overall really aggressive look to the car it's ridiculously badass if i can say that for a factory audi little vent out of the front bonnet little dive planes on the side it's crazy and these are the performance parts that you now get from audi and can fit to the ttrs if you want to make it even angry and they go really nicely with the nagaro blue as well they do it's a good combination so that's quite a cool little package red calipers too red accent seems to be a very in thing right now yeah it's almost the i'm a sporty car notifier now ben a normal tt rs is is this 66.000 127 thousand thousands would you like this car or would you like two standard ones take a pic so you're in supercar territory so don't get me wrong it's cool with all the parts 120 000 euros guys what do you think to round up the hot hatch shoot still in the vw group hall we're on the seat stand and this is a new introduction at this show the new leon cupra r it's 47 000 euros looks pretty cool ben yeah really nice uh satin paint job that'll set you back 3 000 euros but still a massive saving compared to the ttrs i really like the styling of this the little copper accents i was just noticing even the carbon has that sort of copper tint to it so you've got the set logo on the front in the copper those accents around the vents the wheels are touched too yeah rambo breaks the door mirrors that's a nice contrast let's have a quick glance at the interior of the car and it carries on through here yeah more around the air vents here and around the center console particularly nice as well as the logo on top of the gear stick the kind of checkered flag you can see on top of here but limited edition one of 799 i think we've got 310 horsepower under the hood yeah so towards the top end of the power bracket of the hot hatches come around the bag is introduced here not yet approved yet i believe so no yeah available for purchase but coming soon cool exhaust pipes and we love a good carbon wing on the top a little bit of carbon there a little bit of carbon here and another sort of stealth badge here is really cool it's it's quite fun how it wasn't that long ago that you were optioning carbon on supercars yeah and it's made its way down to what we can call super hatches and i think this video has been a pretty solid look at the super hatches of frankfurt they're always becoming hyper patches some of these cars that we've been filming in this video are more powerful than ferraris not very long ago yeah that's mind-blowing and like you say the categories come along such a long way you know let's see we've got carbon we've got rear wheel steer we've got rev matching you know this thing is strip mode yeah this all coming into this bracket is really cool and this is just what we've been able to find out with a loose glimpse under the skin of each of these cars there are plenty more cars we haven't even been to see today yeah the m140i from bmw the a45 mercedes amg yeah plenty plenty more of these cars they have so much technology and they're just a hoot to drive yeah genuine fun cars hot hatch territory practical space take your passengers you can have a good time driving them a bit more efficiently yeah you can push them to the limit on the road as well you know you're getting your supercar you can barely break third gear before you're in trouble with the police second gear yeah yeah i know we don't know about that but these things you can drive and that's why i love my focus rs so much that's why we want to come have a look at the hot hatches of the iaa today so thanks for coming around hope you guys have enjoyed we will catch up with you with plenty more content so make sure you stay subscribed check it all out and we'll see you very soon cheers cheers guys youhi
