All Cars Are Cool: 9 Vehicles That Won't Lose Value
All cars are cool--Lemme put my hat on like a normal. All cars are cool but there's a problem. The older a car gets, the more it loses its value. They are what is known as a depreciating asset.
Oh my Lord. What if I told you that some cars did the opposite of depreciate? We put together a list of nine cars that basically won't lose any value at all if you buy them right now today. I'm not talking about buying a car and keeping it in a climate-controlled garage for 20 years, I'm talking about vehicles so you can daily drive and then sell in a few years without losing much if any money.
Some of these cars will even make you money. A big thank you to RidgeWallet for sponsoring today's D-List! Delivery for Kentucky Cobra - Yes sir, that's me. (cheerful electronic music) - Nope, declined. You have another one? - No, my wallet only has a place for one card. It's Italian. Sorry. No money, no pizza.

Thanks for saving me, Joe. - No problem, but we can save more people by telling them to visit rich.com/donut. And if you enter codedonut, you'll get 10% off. But hurry up because time is of the essence.
You wanna slice? I wish I could James, but it looks like I got to go. Jeremiah is about to get fired from bumper to bumper. (whooshing) All right. First things first, pretty much any Toyota Suv will have a resale value. It's going to make you say:

No money, no pizza.- No Pizza!- Big thanks to Ridge Walletsfor sponsoring today's--(electronic boom)Joe? Sick jacket!- Oh, James, no time for fashion!any second now, that cardis going to get declined. And if it does, you'regoing to get hangry. You're not going to gonna get a pizzaand you're gotta quit donut forever.- What?- You got to get ridof that pathetic walletand replace it with one of these.Unlike those pathetic thin walletsthe Ridge Wallet is minimalistwithout being limiting. You can carry 12 cards--- 12 Cards? No folds?- Where we're going, we don't need folds.- (laughs) From the movie!- Delivery for Kentucky Cobra.- Well, I'm sure one of these will do.(cards clattering)- Great. All set.- Thanks for saving me, Joe.- No problem, but we can save more peopleby telling them to visit rich.com/donut.And if you enter codedonut, you'll get 10% off.But hurry up becausetime is of the SUVis going to have a resale value. It's going to make you say:"You're killing me, Larry."That's a joke about amattress store commercialon the radio from 15 years ago.So our choice for this listis none other than the legendary--- Toyota Land Cruiser- Toyota has been making the Land Cruiserfor like a millionyears and any generationis a safe bet not to lose money. But the one that I'm puttingon this list is the legendary 80 series. That's the one from thenineties, specifically the FZJ 80which came out between 93 and 97.So what makes this particularLand Cruiser so nice? This was the last fewyears of the generationand it came with theinsanely beefy legendary1FZ-FE straight six engineplus full-time four wheel driveand a locking center diff. This mill is super over engineered. So it runs forever. And that's why this car canstill fetch a pretty penny.Even with super high mileage. We found this one with 200,000 mileson it and it's on sale for $17,000.You can get a Ford Explorer with bad paintand 200,000 miles onit for like 500 bucks. You could say that buyingone of these is a no brainer.(electronic distorting)And you need no brainto know this is a good buy.- If you're watching thischannel, you probablyknow a little bit aboutthe Integra Type R.If you don't, it was ahot boiled up versionof Acura/Honda's flagship coupe that soldfor a pretty reasonable price at the time.I say at the time because nice examplethese days are selling for like $90,000.Let's say your like me and you don't have$90,000 but you still want an Integrawithout losing your initial investment.Well, let me introduce you tothe Type R's little bro, the Integra GSR.- Integra GRSR...Basically the GSR was reallysimilar to the Type R,but it didn't have the Simola chassis,Didn't have a limited slip diff, very similar engine and itdidn't have any cool red trim.So you're really notmissing out on that much.If you want to get yournuts, a little greasy.Good driver-condition GSRsells for around $9,000which is great for a 30year old economy boxing.Since the Type R is shooting up in valuethe GSR is definitely going to followin his big brother's footsteps. It's one of the only examples wheretrickle down is a real thing. Now like a lot of cars on this list, you might need to look prettyhard to find a good onebut definitely hang on to it.If you're able to get one.(french accent) Ze reliability, ze loxury, this is not French?(cameraman laughing)(accordion playing)Ze reliability, ze loxury,ze meed-engine performance,ze toplessness, that's what you getwhen you snag yourself a P-Car Boxter Sfrom the early 2000's!- Porsche Boxster S- This one's a bit differentbecause it did depreciatequite a bit, but it's on its way back up.So it is sort of likea value that you might(whispering) actually make some money on.So why are P-heads hot onthe Boxter-bandwagon again?Well, for starters, the newones have a four cylinderturbo motor, and people didn't like that. This one has the flat six smackdab between them two axles. This drop top cowboy putsdown 258 Holsteiners to them. That's a German horse. When it was new it cost almost $50,000,which is $75,000 in today's money. But nowadays you can findthem for well under 10 grand. And just like I said, up atthe tip top of this videothis isn't a car that youneed to keep hidden awayin the garage because theBoxster really is fun to drive,it's the ultimate driving machine.Just make sure that nothing breaks becausewhile the car is cheap, fixing anythingon any Porsche is not.- Jeep Wrangler.Wrangler in the OG-froaderand O G stands for,"Oh Gosh, that truck isgood going off-road."Just like the Land Cruiser,Jeep has been making Wranglers forever. And there are a ton ofreally good generationsto choose from but our pick on this listis the second gen Wrangler also knownas the TJ because it's, in our opinionthe perfect Jeep.Jeeps a long time ago werebasically metal frameswith seats and steering wheel.Jeeps today are giant SUV's.The TJ is the perfect balance. It's right in the middle. It's the Malcolm of cars.I saw Frankie Muniz atan audition one time,he does not look good as a grownup.TJ also came in a ton ofdifferent trim options, depending on your needs.Do you want to go off-roading withouthaving to do a bunch of mods?Stuff, Rubicon! You want premium seatsand a factory subwooferto bump your tunes?Grab have yourself a Sahara. There's even a frickingTomb Raider-edition.You can find a pretty good TJfor not much more than 10 grand nowadaysbut really nice ones areselling for like $30,000.For a 30 year old Jeep, that price isn't going down.So get one soon, if youcan, if you want oneif you don't want one, no crash.(distorted) but what ifyou want an off-roaderthat can haul a bunch of lumber?- Toyota Tacoma.Do I need to explain this one? It's a taco.Everybody loves tacos.I would personally be finewith owning any Tacoma. And I think we might own two coming up.They might be driven by me andNolan and Aaron and Zach Jobebut which one should I buy James?Well, Pertner, I reckonyou'd look real cutein one of them first-gen tacos.Oh, between 95 and 2004.And by the time Toyotareleased this truck, they had already crackedthe pickup truck formula. The first gen came with threedifferent engine optionsin auto or manual and a twowheel drive or four wheel drive. But if we're talking resale value here, which we are, make sure youget a V6 and four wheel drivebecause that's the ones that people want. Here's a 95, which is a very early one. It's got 220,000 milesbecause it's a Toyota truckand it's $10,000.Okay. And it's $10,000Just make sure you get underthere and check out the frame. And pray, that the Rustman don't comeand get you in themiddle cold, wet night...Oh, red brown fingersreach around yo frameand chill from the inside!(maniacal screaming)- VW Beetle.Beetles have been aroundfor fricking ever. And not only are they asuper-overrated band, they're a car.And they've always had likea really dedicated fan baseso they're always extremely sought after.Although there was a period in time,a couple of decades ago whenbeetles cost like 50 bucksbut today can't go wrong buy an old bug.I mean, you can, youcan buy a classic beetlein pretty good conditionfor a couple of grand. You can buy a broken one forlike a couple of hundred bucks!Whatever you decide todo, they're notoriouslyeasy to work on, parts are everywhereand you get really, reallygood return of investmentwith just a few weekends of wrenching. There's a reason that VWdidn't really change the designof this thing for like a million years. It's just a good-ass Car.- McLaren F1.If you're like me, you already soldyour McLaren F1 years ago.If you're also like me,you wish you had keptyour McLaren F1 becauseits value has increased1000% from when it was new.And it was $815,000 whenit came out in 1992,which is how much I gotpaid as a seven yearold being on a season of Full House! And I blew it all!On a McLaren F1!$815,000 in 1992 isabout $1.5 million today, which is a ton until youconsider that McLaren F1sell for 14.5 million. This is more of a jokeone because you know100% of you aren't in themarket for a McLaren F1but we really couldn't do a list of carswith good resale valuewithout including oneof the highest appreciatingcars of all time.- BMW E30.The second gen BMW 3-Series aka the E30was made between 1982 to 1994.It's sold for around 20 to$28,000 when it was brand newwhich is just over$49,000 in today's money. But for a while like 10 to 15 years ago, they got cheap, like dirt cheap. And back then nobody reallycared about these cars.So a lot of them got scrapped or turnedinto like drift missiles or something.Max bought his for $200.I used to own a 318 and I broke it.(guffaws)But thanks to people like me and Max,finding a clean unmodified examplethat isn't broken is fairly rare.So prices have really shotup in the last few years. It's the same thing thathappened at 240 SX'sand like every other car at the bottomof its depreciation curve.Really good E30's sell for about $20,000,but you can still find bargainsif you look hard enough, these things are classics. And I don't see them all of thesudden not becoming classic. We saved the best for last, just like we always do.That's kind of the point of a list. This last car is superfun, super daily driveableand a super good investmentat the same damn time.Let's go! (voice distorting)- Honda S2000.S2000 is a legendary Japanese car.is probably the bestconvertible of all time.Suck it Miata!Honda managed to pair theircrazy good reliabilitywith an intoxicatinghigh-revving Vtech motorin two door package that canonly be described as beautiful! No one said it's probably his favorite carhe's ever driven, andhe's driven high car.Honda built these so wellthat a ton of them are stillon their first owners becausenobody wants to sell them.So with a reputation likethat, it's no surprisethat these things holdtheir value very well.Whether it's an AP one, it's the first genor an AP two, it's a second gen. These things currently sellfor between 10 and $20,000one even sold for over 70,000 bucks.Yeah, sure, it only had 93 miles on itbut still it's more than what it was new!But don't let the high costof entry scare you away because justlike the E30 and pretty muchevery other car on this listyou can find them cheap, ifyou're determined enough. Here's one for 7,500it's got a salvage titleand a lot more than 93 milesbut it's still an S 2000and I'm sure it's stillsuper fun to drive.Black Friday. It's a thing.Everybody has salesand we're no exception. For the rest of the weekendeverything on donutmedia.com is 25% off.I was like, guys, 25%.That's like a lot, right. And they were like, yeah. And I was like, they spentlike a hundred dollars. It's like $25 off.Yeah. This is theaccountants I'm talking to.I was like, aren't we goingto lose a bunch of money? And they're like, hope not.So yeah.Let me know what otherlists you want us toput together down in the comments below. What about your car that's not a Miata, but still a perfect project car.Check out this episode. Also, we have a podcastcalled "Pass Gas Podcast."It's my favorite thing to do.Listen to it.Anywhere that you listen to your podcast.I love you.
