The Datsun’s MAJOR problem I’ve been hiding…

The Cooling System Conundrum: A Deep Dive into the Mystery

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this thing, and I don't know you'll put that car aside idling and then we'll get Rock Solid so I would say maybe it's combustion in the system and because you're dropping water you know or pushing coolant it's just weird because then we we water down the radiator to cool it down and it cools down to 150 like that and it'll stay cool after a couple pulls you're literally wetting the whole system, it has steel coolant in it and if the seals are bad they're maybe not that that wear it would make sense too. Now that the car is running a little bit more boost that the problem's more noticeable because that's be honest right homie, that had this car before he had been fighting overheating issues you could see by him modding and messing with the thermostat he changed radiators a couple times he was messing with the Shroud and like who builds a car like this and only runs four pounds of boost there's an issue going on that's just the solution to sell the car look I'm not mad but that would add up makes sense all right, so we got a bit of a hodgepodge system but the idea is we want to pull some of the air through this fluid that will turn yellow if there's combustion in the cooling system right now obviously we just started the car shortly but I'd imagine there's probably still should be some combustible air in there not how you're supposed to do it but it might work hasn't turned yellow yet nope well she's still blue let me see test number two thank you nothing if it ain't turning yellow we ain't getting combustion in there, last test that I have to be able to try to rule something out.

We know that the upper pipe gets hard when you rev it which would make sense if there's combustion engineering system or potentially if the radiator wasn't flowing enough and it was creating a blockade but we don't know if the bottom coolant hose is getting harder if the bottom coolant hose is getting hard we do have a system where it's getting pressurized probably from combustion if it isn't getting hard that tells us there's blockage in the radiator. I'll start it and see what goes on with that all right bro crazy, I kid you not it goes full vacuum on the lower like radiator hose so it's sucking or it's like yes like it literally will suck in until it's like stops what the heck I wonder if you can see it kind of Hose is impressive when you rub it we got double oil right now because I didn't block off the stock oil pump thing and it's got pre-mixed in it so it's just so stinky, so that tells us that the radiator is not flowing right top hoses bottom hose goes full vacuum like suction is closed which means it's not flowing well enough to the engine and all the heating yeah I think it might just be because it has so many plates in it. The water is having a deal, yeah we have like a normal radiator we might be able to fit in that I mean honestly like it'd be annoying it's really annoying, I could probably just throw like some junk Radiator in it just to like rule that out but that's like that's a pretty big issue I would point fingers at that before a bad engine for sure.

Yeah I wonder I mean it makes sense why it's pressurizing on the top so it's not like letting it flow maybe interesting to see if that's enough to contribute to it running that hot at idle though so I still think at idle it should have enough flow but again maybe the radiator is causing so much like pressure that it's making the water pump cavitate because it can't push the water, so then it's just spinning and very interesting. So it seems like we may not have an engine issue which is going to prevent the next video from being what I thought it was going to be of me dropping the drivetrain out of this car Vapor honing zinc plating changing turbo and turning this into a typical atom project, I'll try to change the radiator first see what that does but the good news is Vargas is coming into town to work on Colette's engines and some other things so there's still a very good chance that I will update a bit of the hot side to not necessarily just make more power but hopefully gain some reliability, I want to properly block off a couple things that are leaking clean it up a bit more maybe put a gear turbo on it but figuring that the cooling issues is first on the top of the block for me and we'll jump into that in the next video ignore that last section of the tornado door mic because it didn't work it was broken just like everything else, you can bet that in the video actually if you think it's at valuers honey I think

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enI'm sorry I tried to pry the third member out I just wanted to get that out there I saw all the comments I'm learning I'm taking you guys along for the journey and the datsun's pretty much satisfied for me in terms of mechanical things there's still a few little sketchy tidbits that we're going to work on slash replace and I think that's what the majority of this video is probably gonna entail number one is kind of a sketchy Health concern and I'm referring to the mold on the roof so hopefully it's an easy thing to address I got a mask I'm gonna throw on and hopefully just clean it off with some mild detergent but if we gotta whip out the bleach we gotta whip out the bleach for the cleaning process I use grios interior cleaner I didn't know if it was going to be enough to actually take off the mold but to my surprise it did the trick more than enough and I got it looking pretty good now this little guy is actually fantastic for getting interior panels clean however the way that it works it basically pulls contaminants to the surface and sometimes vaporizes them in a dust which is the last thing I wanted to do with mold so I got the surface wipe first now I'm gonna hit it with this hope that I can get a little bit more off of it to make the car a little bit safer not mechanically just atmospherically oh next up definitely not necessary but I came up with idea there's this like silver trim that's fading off but it kind of looks cool with the blue underneath so will Air take it off let's find out the answer is yes you're picking at it by hand for like probably a half hour before so the fact that Heritage stuff is easy kind of humiliating but kind of cool before and after not perfect but better next up we'll address something minor shifter bushings it works the slop ain't fun this will be fun because I have no idea what we're working with in here from terms of trans tunnel and actually quite a bit of access so that'll be nice getting the bushings chain should be pretty easy just pull out these three bolts nerd unemployed NFC trans but can be too difficult I will say one of the other things that I wanted to address that I probably wouldn't be able to address today is the amount of carbon monoxide undering the cabin while I'm cruising this uh trans tunnel hole definitely could be contributing to that so maybe I'll at least lay over some tape before I put this back together just to seal it up a little bit and that should keep some of it out of the cabin all right let's take close attention to what we're working with before this is neutral this is first gear third gear let's see what the bushing change does okay some time I'm about to change the bushings you should be a pro at this right before I do something very important what's that then I'm late before was that uh powder coating oh okay hey look no more mold on the ceiling isn't that great for our health oh wow also there's a giant hole in the trans tunnel so that's probably why we were getting a little teary-eyed from all the carbon monoxide entering in I'll tape that up for us yeah if I had more time I'd make like a nice like sheet metal cover but tape will work for now uh I haven't done this to mine yet so while you're at it since now you're the pro you can do mine doing the bushings yeah I imagine it can't be too hard right oh you haven't started yet I'm about to do it right now if I take two minutes okay have fun I have the same parts that are in my shop right now really yeah straight up I know like eight million of you guys were like why didn't you watch a video on how to do a nine inch when I was dealing with a nine inch I swear to you I looked up videos of nine inches and they must have all been demonstrating for like eight eights or something because they were all diffs that didn't have third numbers but in this scenario I did not look up any DIYs because I feel like I could figure it out it's just a shifter after all I do have a spring to change but I'm feeling kind of lazy today because it looks like the change of spring I'm probably going to need to pull off the side plate now I've got a whole trans tunnel on the way so I'll just change the bushing since that looks like the easier part things just this guy right here the new guy in I don't know if this is gonna make a difference or not get any idea on this nope never done it before still got the parts in the shop I need this to come off of this thing do you remember what direction this goes I feel like it's maybe back I don't know about the spring do you know what I do with that Adam you completely disassembled this when I was not here yeah I just don't I don't I wasn't really paying attention which orientation do you want to do it like that now this is actually kind of fun that Colette's here right now because she always talks trash about this transmission saying oh the shifter never feels good so I should just be the bushings that you've been too lazy to replace your whole rotary life first of all you talk trash about this transmission having like a broom handle inserted into a tiny hole that does nothing okay and then trying to shift it definitely is just FC Transit is always a little okay it's a little tighter but I really feel like the key is if I replace that uh the key is a different transmission entirely no that spring that I didn't replace um yeah but it's definitely way better now like if you remember the before look at the after I don't remember the before but I'm taking the people watching the video remember the four okay but I'm technically not tell you all the way so maybe that'll make it better actually I think it's marginally better the spring I think gets rid of this because that's like loose so I think if I replace that spring but I'll wait to do that before when the motor comes out hopefully that doesn't happen though wrinkling quite a bit better now not a big gaping hole and to seal the deal I was able to secure a New Old Stock genuine Nissan center console for this car now this is one of those weird things like I said I just find them online coming from random countries like this might have come from Ecuador or somewhere out there but yeah it'll spice up the interior it's new versus old got a little Dotson shift knob hoping it would fit but I should have taken measurement first it doesn't fit so I'll just have to get another insert made in the meantime we'll go back to the old stock shifter I actually like it it's got a decent bit of weight to it I'll need to paint this thing black I think at some point but for now it looks pretty good in addition to the crusties this thing while you're driving is vibrating so much that you can't see anything and when you're going really slow and people are always trying to pass you it's helpful to see what's behind you thank you now I showed you guys that I made a new shroud to help this thing run cooler but it's still running a little bit hotter than I'd like part of the problem I feel is that all the hot air is getting trapped in the engine bay there's no Vents and for whatever reason when I left that on this car compared to others it's extremely hot I hate the look of hood spacers but I'm going to give it a try to see if that solves the issue before I try to reinvent the wheel with redoing the whole cooling system so got some bolts and some nuts I'm gonna stuff them underneath there lift it up might look cool it might look stupid but if it solves the problem it solves the problem I just want to remind you again I hate Hood spacers I think they look terrible but if it works it's better than cutting a hole in the hood it looks not terribly awful I feel like it's so small that it might not make a difference however we can tell because if I turn the fans on I do feel some of the hot air evacuating here so it might help we'll see uh with you guys I've been I've been nurturing this motor and all the testing that we've done because when I say the thing runs hot just idling it almost got to 250 which is very not good and I I suspect that this whole time I've actually been fighting an engine issue and not a cooling issue but I want to rule that out now that I've got the hoods faced up this will be the first time I've taken for a drive on the road with a working temp gauge before this car has been being driven without a temp gauge so who knows what temps we're seeing on the road but I know what times I'm seeing the idle and on the dyno and this thing's always had a tendency to run kind of hot unfortunately we had a case of the unreliable GoPro where audio doesn't work so you're going to have to deal with my stupid voice ad-libbing what went on here hey Colette are you ready for me to do a poll and try to scare you yeah let's go ready oh my God that's the fastest car I've ever been in Adam oh my God you're definitely the guy that I want to be with forever because of that pull that you just did right there yeah wasn't that great wasn't it the best car that I own yeah oh look at this his shifter still got a lot of slop after all that time he's been changing the bushing what a loser what what do you say what'd you say okay stop stop playing with it if you shake it more than twice that's playing with it me talking to car frantically checking cooling Gage please cool down please cool car I have requests that you cool now immediately all right so driving we're at like 210 which isn't terrible doesn't make me think anything's wrong the idling temp is what makes me concerned hey what it is what stop all right now get ready for our next pull I have a challenge for you guys I want to see if you can make out what I say after the poll comment below what words you think come out of my mouth and if you're really good maybe you know what words come out of Colette's mouth too do you know what we said did you guess it I'll be checking the comments I know it's a big ask but the GoPro just died can you attempt to hold this camera with one hand I just want you to feel one donut that's it one donut after that it's probably gonna overheat so okay this might be the wildest drift car I've ever driven you ready yeah it's pretty good right yeah get a lot of grip I'm just holding on for dear life the whole time all right so let's uh let's discuss the data driving at roughly 60 miles an hour at levels what would you say about 210 maybe a little bit underneath yeah a little under not terribly bad not ideal it definitely should be cooler the problem is just idling you'll see right now it's a little over 210. it's gonna creep all the way up to 250 and The Telltale thing that makes me think that there's an engine issue is that when you rev the engine a lot of pressure builds up in the coolant hose which could mean two things either the radiator doesn't flow enough but more than likely combustion entering the coolant system that doesn't work right now but the weird thing is you would think it would smoke because that'd be like a head gasket so then water would probably be entering the combustion chamber or the the housing I guess you'd say I'm trying to wrap my head around it oh you want to hear the two-step it's probably gonna make it overheat but ready pretty cool right it might shoot baby flames yeah so doing two step on a car that has an overheating issue probably not ideal yeah you can see now we're encroaching the 250 region and it's not going to cool down unless I put water on this radiator very very strange oh no no no no thankfully I've got my handy hose set up just for this scenario and I can assure you that it's not a scenario where the gauge is reading wrong the coolant hose gets rock hard and it will start to push out of the Overflow in the scenario real quick come on baby cool down cool down the water trick works great I mean we're down to like 210 now but that's a Band-Aid not an actual solution I wonder if there's a chance it's a timing related thing at idle I doubt it but I do think it's very odd to see a manifold still glowing and Turbo's still glowing after all this maybe in the map at idle it's creating a lot of heat because the timing is wrong that could be one thing more likely like I said radiator issue we already know that it's got an intercooler and an oil cooler literally touching it so this tiny little thing is doing a lot of work but I still think this radiator especially knowing that it's a proper actually triple pass it should be enough to cool this engine there's a water seal on the front cover maybe that's allowing combustion to enter the water system maybe we could do one of those testers that tests to see if combustion is entering by like changing the coolant a particular color I've not really had the best luck with those but it'd be cool to see I assure you though this thing gets rock hard isn't as bad as I thought Gates pretty much reading 250. but on the ECU it's 224 still hot not ideal I'm actually playing around with timing at idle I had negative five degrees at idle to pull it way down I thought maybe that was contributing to it it seems like it doesn't make that big of a difference but bring it into some positive timing obviously brings the idle up so I need to manually adjust it to bring it back down if I wanted to stay at this kind of timing all right so here's where I'm at with this thing if it has a rotary equivalent of a blown head gasket it's very rare that water isn't getting into the combustion chamber and we're not seeing smoke out the exhaust however according to Vargas it is possible that combustion is just getting in the water system there's a water seal I don't understand what it looks like I've not taken one of these engines apart myself personally but I think I can grasp the concept one other thing that I don't know if is normal or abnormal is that when this thing is hotter and you rev it it builds a ton of pressure up in this upper hose now traditionally that wouldn't be a thing maybe because the thermostat would restrict some flow or because the radiator would flow better so maybe that's happening because radiator doesn't flow good enough or because no thermostats allowing all the water to just build up and pressurize there or its combustion so before I can do the proper test to see if there's combustion in the actual water system I'm just going to pressurize the heck out of it and see if I can get water to go backwards into the engine foreign problem is how do I know if it's going into the engine or not I feel like you'd have to have it running and if you start seeing smoke out the exhaust then I don't know if that happens or just distilled water yeah it could be another thing I'm running into one other thing that Vargas said I could try is starting the car with this hooked up or just cranking it and seeing if that builds pressure hmm I see what he's saying yeah because the The Strokes would be pressurized in the cooling system maybe you could give that a try like that it's holding pressure pretty dang good yeah I mean yoan what do you think the odds are 13B it's like six cylinder right so it builds a heat of a six cylinder if you had a radiator this thick because of the fact that you have the intercooler and the oil cooler sandwiched up against it yeah it's a flow but do you think that that would be inadequate to keep it cool at idle all right idle you don't have enough flow to push through the oil cooler and in a cooler so it's possible I mean it's kind of the same scenario we have at the forward right now why we don't want to put the oil cooler in front of the radiator yeah it definitely makes a difference and that would make sense with why when this thing gets hot the oil cooler is not allowing the radiator to cool down so you said when you're cruising is okay at a lower town it's decent it's not as good as you would think it should be like it's like 210 205 cruising at low RPM I'd say it's just radiator and on top of that you have in front of it or things in front of it it'd be nice if the engine wasn't hurt the only thing that gets me is obviously the idling temps that's a bit weird why the idling times gets off and this gets rock hard when you rev it which I don't know if that's combustion or if that's just the flow from the water pump that'll probably be more combustion for the water pump unless there's a restriction in the radiator right which I mentioned the rtb inside the radiator being that concerned or the fact that it's a triple pass making it like less free-flowing yeah it takes too long to yeah churn out and there's no thermostat so there's nothing restricting the water on that side so it's just getting full flow I'm curious do you mind putting your hand on this Johan I'm just gonna rev it cold and just see if it builds pressure I know it does when it's hot all right it's good things the water pump is really really good or there is a lot of combustion I'm going to uh well that confirms my theory that's going on so I just I really don't want to pull this engine out unless I can confirm it so hopefully that tester will tell us if there's combustion entering because you see what I'm saying it gets hard real quick it's with your pedal like if you could do it out here I want to say the water pump is probably that efficient but I don't know when you are idling it's building a lot of pressure just idling so when you're revving it yeah sure the water pump put that much pressure in the system but it's cold the thing that gets me is I don't know you'll put this car aside idling and then we'll get Rock Solid so I would say maybe it's combustion in the system and because you're dropping water you know or pushing coolant it's just weird because then we we water down the radiator to cool it down and it cools down to 150 like that and it'll stay cool after a couple pulls you're literally wetting the whole system it has steel coolant in it and if the seals are bad they're maybe not that that wear it would make sense too now that the car is running a little bit more boost that the problem's more noticeable because that's be honest right homie that had this car before he had been fighting overheating issues you could see by him modding and messing with the thermostat he changed radiators a couple times he was messing with the Shroud and like who builds a car like this and only runs four pounds of boost there's an issue going on that's just the solution to sell the car look I'm not mad but that would a lot of things would add up makes sense all right so we got a bit of a hodgepodge system but the idea is we want to pull some of the air through this fluid that will turn yellow if there's combustion in the cooling system right now obviously we just started the car shortly but I'd imagine there's probably still should be some combustible air in there not how you're supposed to do it but it might work hasn't turned yellow yet nope well she's still blue let me see test number two thank you nothing if it ain't turning yellow we ain't getting combustion in there last test that I have to be able to try to rule something out we know that the upper pipe gets hard when you rev it which would make sense if there's combustion engineering system or potentially if the radiator wasn't flowing enough and it was creating a blockade but we don't know if the bottom coolant hose is getting harder if the bottom coolant hose is getting hard we do have a system where it's getting pressurized probably from combustion if it isn't getting hard that tells us there's blockage in the radiator so I'll start it and see what goes on with that all right bro crazy I kid you not it goes full vacuum on the lower like radiator hose so it's sucking or it's like yes like it literally will suck in until it's like stops what the heck I wonder if you can see it kind of Hose is impressive when you rub it we got double oil right now because I didn't block off the stock oil pump thing and it's got pre-mixed in it so it's just so stinky so that tells us that the radiator is not flowing right top hoses bottom hose goes full vacuum like suction is closed which means it's not flowing well enough to the engine and all the heating yeah I think it might just be because it has so many plates in it the water is having a deal yeah we have like a normal radiator we might be able to fit in that I mean honestly like it'd be annoying it's really annoying I could probably just throw like some junk Radiator in it just to like rule that out but that's like that's a pretty big issue I would point fingers at that before a bad engine for sure yeah I wonder I mean it makes sense why it's pressurizing on the top so this into a typical atom project I'll try to change the radiator first see what that does but the good news is Vargas is coming into town to work on Colette's engines and some other things so there's still a very good chance that I will update a bit of the hot side to not necessarily just make more power but hopefully gain some reliability I want to properly block off a couple things that are leaking clean it up a bit more maybe put a gear turbo on it but figuring that the cooling issues is first on the top of the block for me and we'll jump into that in the next video ignore that last temps we're seeing on the road but I know what times I'm seeing the idle and on the dyno and this thing's always had a tendency to run kind of hot unfortunately we had a case of the unreliable GoPro where audio doesn't work so you're going to have to deal with my stupid voice ad-libbing what went on here hey Colette are you ready for me to do a poll and try to scare you yeah let's go ready oh my God that's the fastest car I've ever been in Adam oh my God you're definitely the guy that I want to be with forever because of that pull that you just did right there yeah wasn't that great wasn't it the best car that I own yeah oh look at this his shifter still got a lot of slop after all that time he's been changing the bushing what a loser what what do you say what'd you say okay stop stop playing with it if you shake it more than twice that's playing with it me talking to car frantically checking cooling Gage please cool down please cool car I have requests that you cool now immediately all right so driving we're at like 210 which isn't terrible doesn't make me think anything's wrong the idling temp is what makes me concerned hey what it is what stop all right now get ready for our next pull I have a challenge for you guys I want to see if you can make out what I say after the poll comment below what words you think come out of my mouth and if you're really good maybe you know what words come out of Colette's mouth too do you know what we said did you guess it I'll be checking the comments I know it's a big ask but the GoPro just died can you attempt to hold this camera with one hand I just want you to feel one donut that's it one donut after that it's probably gonna overheat so okay this might be the wildest drift car I've ever driven you ready yeah it's pretty good right yeah get a lot of grip I'm just holding on for dear life the whole time all right so let's uh let's discuss the data driving at roughly 60 miles an hour at levels what would you say about 210 maybe a little bit underneath yeah a little under not terribly bad not ideal it definitely should be cooler the problem is just idling you'll see right now it's a little over 210. it's gonna creep all the way up to 250 and The Telltale thing that makes me think that there's an engine issue is that when you rev the engine a lot of pressure builds up in the coolant hose which could mean two things either the radiator doesn't flow enough but more than likely combustion entering the coolant system that doesn't work right now but the weird thing is you would think it would smoke because that'd be like a head gasket so then water would probably be entering the combustion chamber or the the housing I guess you'd say I'm trying to wrap my head around it oh you want to hear the two-step it's probably gonna make it overheat but ready pretty cool right it might shoot baby flames yeah so doing two step on a car that has an overheating issue probably not ideal yeah you can see now we're encroaching the 250 region and it's not going to cool down unless I put water on this radiator very very strange oh no no no no thankfully I've got my handy hose set up just for this scenario and I can assure you that it's not a scenario where the gauge is reading wrong the coolant hose gets rock hard and it will start to push out of the Overflow in the scenario real quick come on baby cool down cool down the water trick works great I mean we're down to like 210 now but that's a Band-Aid not an actual solution I wonder if there's a chance it's a timing related thing at idle I doubt it but I do think it's very odd to see a manifold still glowing and Turbo's still glowing after all this maybe in the map at idle it's creating a lot of heat because the timing is wrong that could be one thing more likely like I said radiator issue we already know that it's got an intercooler and an oil cooler literally touching it so this tiny little thing is doing a lot of work but I still think this radiator especially knowing that it's a proper actually triple pass it should be enough to cool this engine there's a water seal on the front cover maybe that's allowing combustion to enter the water system maybe we could do one of those testers that tests to see if combustion is entering by like changing the coolant a particular color I've not really had the best luck with those but it'd be cool to see I assure you though this thing gets rock hard isn't as bad as I thought Gates pretty much reading 250. but on the ECU it's 224 still hot not ideal I'm actually playing around with timing at idle I had negative five degrees at idle to pull it way down I thought maybe that was contributing to it it seems like it doesn't make that big of a difference but bring it into some positive timing obviously brings the idle up so I need to manually adjust it to bring it back down if I wanted to stay at this kind of timing all right so here's where I'm at with this thing if it has a rotary equivalent of a blown head gasket it's very rare that water isn't getting into the combustion chamber and we're not seeing smoke out the exhaust however according to Vargas it is possible that combustion is just getting in the water system there's a water seal I don't understand what it looks like I've not taken one of these engines apart myself personally but I think I can grasp the concept one other thing that I don't know if is normal or abnormal is that when this thing is hotter and you rev it it builds a ton of pressure up in this upper hose now traditionally that wouldn't be a thing maybe because the thermostat would restrict some flow or because the radiator would flow better so maybe that's happening because radiator doesn't flow good enough or because no thermostats allowing all the water to just build up and pressurize there or its combustion so before I can do the proper test to see if there's combustion in the actual water system I'm just going to pressurize the heck out of it and see if I can get water to go backwards into the engine foreign problem is how do I know if it's going into the engine or not I feel like you'd have to have it running and if you start seeing smoke out the exhaust then I don't know if that happens or just distilled water yeah it could be another thing I'm running into one other thing that Vargas said I could try is starting the car with this hooked up or just cranking it and seeing if that builds pressure hmm I see what he's saying yeah because the The Strokes would be pressurized in the cooling system maybe you could give that a try like that it's holding pressure pretty dang good yeah I mean yoan what do you think the odds are 13B it's like six cylinder right so it builds a heat of a six cylinder if you had a radiator this thick because of the fact that you have the intercooler and the oil cooler sandwiched up against it yeah it's a flow but do you think that that would be inadequate to keep it cool at idle all right idle you don't have enough flow to push through the oil cooler and in a cooler so it's possible I mean it's kind of the same scenario we have at the forward right now why we don't want to put the oil cooler in front of the radiator yeah it definitely makes a difference and that would make sense with why when this thing gets hot the oil cooler is not allowing the radiator to cool down so you said when you're cruising is okay at a lower town it's decent it's not as good as you would think it should be like it's like 210 205 cruising at low RPM I'd say it's just radiator and on top of that you have in front of it or things in front of it it'd be nice if the engine wasn't hurt the only thing that gets me is obviously the idling temps that's a bit weird why the idling times gets off and this gets rock hard when you rev it which I don't know if that's combustion or if that's just the flow from the water pump that'll probably be more combustion for the water pump unless there's a restriction in the radiator right which I mentioned the rtb inside the radiator being that concerned or the fact that it's a triple pass making it like less free-flowing yeah it takes too long to yeah churn out and there's no thermostat so there's nothing restricting the water on that side so it's just getting full flow I'm curious do you mind putting your hand on this Johan I'm just gonna rev it cold and just see if it builds pressure I know it does when it's hot all right it's good things the water pump is really really good or there is a lot of combustion I'm going to uh well that confirms my theory that's going on so I just I really don't want to pull this engine out unless I can confirm it so hopefully that tester will tell us if there's combustion entering because you see what I'm saying it gets hard real quick it's with your pedal like if you could do it out here I want to say the water pump is probably that efficient but I don't know when you are idling it's building a lot of pressure just idling so when you're revving it yeah sure the water pump put that much pressure in the system but it's cold the thing that gets me is I don't know you'll put this car aside idling and then we'll get Rock Solid so I would say maybe it's combustion in the system and because you're dropping water you know or pushing coolant it's just weird because then we we water down the radiator to cool it down and it cools down to 150 like that and it'll stay cool after a couple pulls you're literally wetting the whole system it has steel coolant in it and if the seals are bad they're maybe not that that wear it would make sense too now that the car is running a little bit more boost that the problem's more noticeable because that's be honest right homie that had this car before he had been fighting overheating issues you could see by him modding and messing with the thermostat he changed radiators a couple times he was messing with the Shroud and like who builds a car like this and only runs four pounds of boost there's an issue going on that's just the solution to sell the car look I'm not mad but that would a lot of things would add up makes sense all right so we got a bit of a hodgepodge system but the idea is we want to pull some of the air through this fluid that will turn yellow if there's combustion in the cooling system right now obviously we just started the car shortly but I'd imagine there's probably still should be some combustible air in there not how you're supposed to do it but it might work hasn't turned yellow yet nope well she's still blue let me see test number two thank you nothing if it ain't turning yellow we ain't getting combustion in there last test that I have to be able to try to rule something out we know that the upper pipe gets hard when you rev it which would make sense if there's combustion engineering system or potentially if the radiator wasn't flowing enough and it was creating a blockade but we don't know if the bottom coolant hose is getting harder if the bottom coolant hose is getting hard we do have a system where it's getting pressurized probably from combustion if it isn't getting hard that tells us there's blockage in the radiator so I'll start it and see what goes on with that all right bro crazy I kid you not it goes full vacuum on the lower like radiator hose so it's sucking or it's like yes like it literally will suck in until it's like stops what the heck I wonder if you can see it kind of Hose is impressive when you rub it we got double oil right now because I didn't block off the stock oil pump thing and it's got pre-mixed in it so it's just so stinky so that tells us that the radiator is not flowing right top hoses bottom hose goes full vacuum like suction is closed which means it's not flowing well enough to the engine and all the heating yeah I think it might just be because it has so many plates in it the water is having a deal yeah we have like a normal radiator we might be able to fit in that I mean honestly like it'd be annoying it's really annoying I could probably just throw like some junk Radiator in it just to like rule that out but that's like that's a pretty big issue I would point fingers at that before a bad engine for sure yeah I wonder I mean it makes sense why it's pressurizing on the top so it's not like letting it flow maybe interesting to see if that's enough to contribute to it running that hot at idle though so I still think at idle it should have enough flow but again maybe the radiator is causing so much like pressure that it's making the water pump cavitate because it can't push the water so then it's just spinning and very interesting so it seems like we may not have an engine issue which is going to prevent the next video from being what I thought it was going to be of me dropping the drivetrain out of this car Vapor honing zinc plating changing turbo and turning this into a typical atom project I'll try to change the radiator first see what that does but the good news is Vargas is coming into town to work on Colette's engines and some other things so there's still a very good chance that I will update a bit of the hot side to not necessarily just make more power but hopefully gain some reliability I want to properly block off a couple things that are leaking clean it up a bit more maybe put a gear turbo on it but figuring that the cooling issues is first on the top of the block for me and we'll jump into that in the next video ignore that last section of the tornado door mic because it didn't work it was broken just like everything else you can bet that in the video actually if you think it's at valuers honey I think\n"
