The Only Difference is This is a K24 Everything Else Was Identical Pretty Much to the Mr2 Setup So That Was a Good Base Map for Us to Load Into the Minivan Make Some Adjustments to and Build from There What We Overlooked Was the Rev Limiter Um The Mr2's Rev Limiter Is It What Like Eleven Thousand Almost or Eleven It's Back Yeah Over But Yeah Per Year It Varies Needlessly To Say The Rev Limiter On the Mr2 Is Very High Because the Mr2 Has a K20 and It Has Aluminum Rods the K20 Has Less Stroke So You Know There's Less Movement Going On on the Rod and It Has a Much Lighter Rod Because It's Aluminum You Can Turn It Way Harder on a K24 with a Steel Rod You Probably Don't Really Want to Be in the 10 Thousand RPM Range But Our Limiter Was Somewhere Up There Did You See What It Was At All The Limiter Was at 10.5 In That Gear and We We Pretty Much Hit the Limiter and Turned This Thing to Ten Thousand Five Hundred RPM and It Was 10 470 RPM So Just Before Just Before the Limiter Okay So You Can See in the Video Ran it to Second Gear Didn't Hit the Limiter Yet Because the Limiter Was Still at 10 500 Shifted to Third and the Engine Still Sounded Okay for a Second Going into Third But That High RPM May Have Been Just Enough to Stress Those Rod Bolts Out and Stuff Because the Added Weight of a Steel Rod and the Stropha K24 They're Just Not Made to Turn that Hard of RPM and That Very Well Could Have Been What Uh Sent Her on Our Way Out and Sent That Rod to God So Yeah It Shifted It Was Literally 0.7 Seconds into the Shift That it Let Go So I'm Sure the RPM Heard it and Then it Just Took a Second for it to Probably Break the Other Rod Bolt and Then She Let Go and Yeah Now We're Here Now There's a Rod in This Cause We've Literally Had Zero Issues with the Outer Seas Engine Since Day One Since We've Ca-Swapped It You Guys Have Seen It We Put it On Jeremy's Dyno Right When I Got It Done in Colorado It Made Like Eight or Nine Hundred Horsepower on Jeremy's Dyno Since Then We Have Done So Much with This Thing This Engine's Been Through a Lot and This Was a Motor That We Just Put Together Ourselfs at the Colorado Shop So Can't Be Too Mad But You Know The One Time it Spins Over 10 Thousand RPM Is the Same Pool that It Also Breaks That's Kind of Telling Us That That RPM is Probably What Uh Killed Her So I'll Probably Tell People on Something Like This a Rev Limiter Should Have Been 9800 So Like That Extra 1000 RPM is Quite a Bit of Rotating Mass The NSX Has the Same Setup Basically as the Van Steel Rod K24 The Limiter in this Is It Also 9800 I've Blipped Limiter in this I've Sat on Limiter in the NSX No Issues But You Know When You Get Into That You Know Almost a Thousand More RPM You're Just Starting to Play with Fire There So Unfortunately She Kicked the Dust and That Sucks Because We Were Just Doing so Good The Mr2 is About to be Running Again Then of Course the Van Breaks and We Wanted to Bring it to the 1320 Video Ice Cream Cruise But at this Point Unless I Found Something Like Literally Tomorrow I Don't Think It's Gonna Make It So There's Never a Shortage of Work around Here No That Way We're Always Fixing Our Freaking K Series Dude Pushing Them Very Hard and Uh Fixed Brake Repeat Just Sucks Because We Literally Just Got it Pretty Much Done and the Drive Train Upgraded to Handle Some Launching and Then This Happens So You Know Is What It is Boys We Will Fix Her Up Bring Her Back and Go from There But the Rattasy Won't be Down for Long Because it's My Priority to get this Thing up and Going it's Been too Long I Know You Guys Want to See some Minivan Action and We Got to Make That Happen for Y'all So on that Note It is Unfortunate but We Might End Up Taking the NSX to the Ice Cream Cruise Let Me Know if Any of You Guys are Going to be There What You Would Prefer to See But I Think the NSX Might be a Candidate Now and I'm Still Going to Try to Get the Hatch out There and We'll Go from There Because We Leave to That Next Weekend but Yeah Next Thursday Yeah Next Thursday So I Only Got Like Four Days to Get Ready so that's gonna do it for this video Guys and so Unfortunate but we Killed Her Odyssey But She'll be Back very Soon Yeah if Anyone has a K24 Hit me Up It's Sleeved So You\\n
Our 1000 Horsepower Minivan Blew Up...
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enoh she's got as you guys saw in the last video we got the wagon diff in the back of the router seat here and we took some measurements to get a drive shaft remade to go back in there and uh we got it right down here so the front half of the drive shaft was untouched but they had to make a new rear section for us we had to bring the whole thing over as one piece to get it fully balanced and uh this is a big shaft boys for the minivan here probably the biggest i can confirm actually this is the biggest shaft we've had on this channel and she's a whopping 94 inches long so we're gonna go ahead and get this thing bolted up into the outer seat and we will be all-wheel drive once again so as you guys just saw we got the drive shaft for the router seat here but what you didn't just see is the four hours of work because we had to redo the viscous coupler mounts right here because we used to have the billet solid mounts right here those were a little worn out so we ended up going with some poly ones just to give this some play and the mounting locations for these guys were different compared to the billet ones so i literally just redid all of this cut out the old bars re-welded all new stuff in here but long story short the drive shaft is in the routerc and she is now all-wheel drive once again to our new wagon rear end there with our custom axles made by wyatt so we'll see how all this holds up but we're going to go ahead and fire this thing up click it into gear and watch all four tires spin this is always the best part so oh yeah so solid yes sir all right guys we are getting ready to take the route to see on its maiden voyage with the new wagon diff and custom wyatt made axles see how bad it vibrates yep see if we have any drivetrain vibrations see how everything feels as you guys just saw we got the new drive shaft in there but i know a lot of you guys are going to be excited to see the router see back he's been sitting for a minute outside and you know we've missed throughout a seat and we finally have the drivetrain just about fully upgraded we got the beefy front axles the beefy rear diff the rear axles are probably the weakest link at this point those end up breaking we'll upgrade those later on but that shouldn't be too big of a deal but you know we really want to get this thing to the track and try to launch it and see what this thing can do at some point ready for to watch the minivan gap some tools again we're going to stick to roll racing for right now get it out to 1320 video ice cream cruise you know go do the rolls and then once we get back if it holds up good out there we'll bring it back to the track bradenton's probably going to open any day now because they just got the whole track redone we can get this thing out there and see if this thing wants to launch and actually throw down a solid number in the quarter mile and i ain't quitting until we see an eight-second honda odyssey it is gonna happen boys but i think you know tens to high nines are going to be pretty easy for this thing even with a soft launch it's got the potential to make all the power to do it it's all just gonna be in the launch yep if we can get a dialed launch in this thing dude she makes the jam to run an eight i guarantee it boys so we are going to prove to you all that this is the baddest honda odyssey out there it's just been a little bit but we're getting there but right now we're gonna go ahead and take for a drive and see how she feels we also need to bring the laptop because the last time we took it out made 40 it was making some steam it literally twisted the crv diff up in there we felt a little bit of a vibration after that and that's what prompted us to uh you know we should probably upgrade all this because it's a little jenkins falling apart it was making some power boys so we're gonna try to tame her down a little bit on the street here hmm yeah definitely turn it back down yeah this is last time i don't feel any vibration hmm she's hooking all of it too that all-wheel drive is working right it feels good your axles she's dammit which is sorry dude well that sucks guess they're out of ca making it yeah i was just about to let out too i don't know why damn the dude it was ripping yeah it was great it was 11-2 dude i've never had an issue with the round this motor's been together so long well boys the router c is done no not even an l that's a big f in the chat boys dude so if you look down here through our new inspection window you see it better the front side here yeah let me get over here so we have a big ol hole in the block and it looks like right let me try to get this in there better so it didn't break a rod our rod is sticking out of the block right there as you can see and the rod is in perfect shape but the rod cap actually let go so either those arps kind of came loose or yeah the bolts actually let go oh they're busted off in there they're split right at the split in the rod so our rod bolts let go yep and they're outta right there because that rod is still connected in perfect shape yeah that rod it literally looks fine it's not bent mangled or nothing and the rod bolts just let go and i'm pretty sure we have the good rod bolts in this thing so i don't know check this out let me take your camera real quick that's a big l you can see it just right there if it would focus you see that rod bolt hanging out of the end of the rod just snapped off in there it was honestly probably due for i mean i haven't checked anything in this engine since it was put together yeah it's been probably three four years i don't think it's been that long just a good couple two to three years since this engine has been in the van it hasn't i think it's came out but it's never been inspected or looked at or anything yeah the oil changes here and there but you know that ain't going to affect a rod bolt snapping yeah it could have needed re-torqued you know yeah over time could have maybe stretched them or something or just been fatigued i mean this thing has been through a lot of abuse it's made quite a bit of power on them rods i mean yeah this engine has been in there since i put it together and we swapped this in for the h series you know got the rid of the h series put this k in this engine has been in here the whole life of the van the only thing we broke on it is the trans a couple times the engine has never been an issue so i mean you can you can see clear as day that that rod yeah the bolts just snap dude we'll get back to the shop and show them i got a somewhat decent angle they can just see the bolts snapped off in the end of it yeah top and bottom uh yeah just sucks because i don't think the travis is gonna be making it to ice cream cruise i do have that other k24 block but i don't know how the the sleeves look on that one yeah it'd just be too much of a push right now i think i'm just in the middle of getting the mr2 together looks like we're bringing the mr2 in the hatch or the nsx or the nsx actually yes damn it dude and just got it back together dude when i was like i know you guys missed the route to see we're about to do so much with it dude it's always one thing after another dude i was not expecting that i wasn't either i was like oh this is a solid pole he's even running out gonna grab the next gear second you grabbed fourth it was like in the middle of third yeah i grabbed third and then in third it was it was right and then it just let go you know we'll have to look at the log there's no way it made more than like 20 something pounds of boost that right one isn't a tuning issue no nothing like that no air fuels look great we know what melted pistons looked like that was a rod bolt failure yep 100 percent frick dude now we have to figure out how to tow at home at least we're not too far but yeah have to call our buddy big f in the chat yep dude everything was working so good all-wheel drive stuff felt so good we finally got the coolant stuff figured out it was cruising great probably just making too much power down low all that torque yeah all-wheel drive hooking this i mean dude it's with both of us in it this thing's over 3000 pounds which for a minivan isn't much but for an all-wheel drive honda setup that's heavy yeah well it's weird because it wasn't even making i don't think it was making a whole lot of torque either i mean it wasn't really coming alive until 8 000 rpm it wasn't in a that was that was simply a rod bolt failure 100 like if it would have been a torque issue you would have broke the rod if it would have been a tuning issue it would have melted a piston but seeing how that just broke out of there like it did that's just 100 percent of rod failure oh frick that's not how i was expecting this test drive to go it was going perfect we're just getting it ready to take it to dyno and get her have her dial appointments scheduled at fuel tech everything frick dude but well can't do anything about it now i'm gonna figure out how to get her home yep big f bud all right so our buddy ryan just came over we're going to tow this thing back with his pilot luckily we're not too far from the house we'll look at the logs see if anything looks weird there but their outfit is done boys first time this thing has blown an engine i think ever actually even since the h i don't think it's ever actually blown an engine in the van so she's only killed transmissions but today the engine said no more man this thing rides like cadillac nice and quiet freaking sweet dude got that hybrid yeah bunny's cars use their gas not ours i like this home sweet home big l buddy first it was the mr2 now it's the route to see we should have never made that video saying all the cars ran that was our biggest mistake like you thought right guys we got the van back on the lift here just kind of taking a look at everything go ahead and give you guys a slightly better look at that rod that's hanging out of our block and get up under here so there she is broad just dangling out the block you can actually put your finger on that and lift it does it like wiggle or is it kind of wedged uh it's probably wedged yeah it's kind of wedged right there move a little bit but it's wedged out of the way yeah it's probably pretty gnarly angle for the yeah wait because what does the piston look like then because that there's no way that that thing is horizontal so you either rip the pin out of it your just has a big notch on the skirt yeah the skirt off the side so engine's done as you can obviously tell and we think we know what the issue actually is so we looked at the log on the fuel tech because we were logging the whole time air fuels were perfect everything else was perfect what we did find though is that since we loaded the tune out of the mr2 into the router c when we first switched this thing over to fuel tech and everything you know this has the same injectors as the mr2 it shares a lot of similarities to the mr2 the only difference is this is a k24 everything else was identical pretty much to the mr2 setup so that was a good base map for us to load into the minivan make some adjustments to and build from there what we overlooked was the rev limiter um the mr2's rev limiter is it what like eleven thousand almost or eleven it's back yeah over but yeah per year it varies needless to say the rev limiter on the mr2 is very high because the mr2 has a k20 and it has aluminum rods the k20 has less stroke so you know there's less movement going on on the rod and it has a much lighter rod because it's aluminum you can turn it way harder on a k24 with a steel rod you probably don't really want to be in the 10 000 rpm range but our limiter was somewhere up there did you see what it was at all the limiter was at 10.5 in that gear and we we pretty much hit the limiter and turned this thing to ten thousand five hundred rpm and it was 10 470 rpm so just before just before the limiter okay so you can see in the video ran it to second gear didn't hit the limiter yet because the limiter was still at 10 500 shifted to third and the engine still sounded okay for a second going into third but that high rpm may have been just enough to stress those rod bolts out and stuff because the added weight of a steel rod and the stropha k24 they're just not made to turn that hard of rpm and that very well could have been what uh sent her on our way out and sent that rod to god so yeah it shifted it was literally 0.7 seconds into the shift that it let go so i'm sure the rpm heard it and then it just took a second for it to probably break the other rod bolt and then she let go and yeah now we're here now there's a rod in this cause we've literally had zero issues with the outer seas engine since day one since we've ca-swapped it you guys have seen it we put it on jeremy's dyno right when i got it done in colorado it made like eight or nine hundred horsepower on jeremy's dyno since then we have done so much with this thing this engine's been through a lot and this was a motor that we just put together ourselves at the colorado shop so can't be too mad but you know the one time it spins over 10 000 rpm is the same pool that it also breaks that's kind of telling us that that rpm is probably what uh killed her so i'll probably tell people on something like this a rev limiter should have been 9800 so like that extra 1000 rpm is quite a bit of rotating mass the nsx has the same setup basically as the van steel rod k24 the limiter in this is it also 9800 i've blipped limiter in this i've sat on limiter in the nsx no issues but you know when you get into that you know almost a thousand more rpm you're just starting to play with fire there so unfortunately she kicked the dust and that sucks because we were just doing so good the mr2 is about to be running again then of course the van breaks and we wanted to bring it to the 1320 video ice cream cruise but at this point unless i found something like literally tomorrow i don't think it's gonna make it so there's never a shortage of work around here no that way we're always fixing our freaking k series dude pushing them very hard and uh fixed brake repeat just sucks because we literally just got it pretty much done and the drive train upgraded to handle some launching and then this happens so you know is what it is boys we will fix her up bring her back and go from there but the rattasy won't be down for long because it's my priority to get this thing up and going it's been too long i know you guys want to see some minivan action and we got to make that happen for y'all so on that note it is unfortunate but we might end up taking the nsx to the ice cream cruise let me know if any of you guys are going to be there what you would prefer to see but i think the nsx might be a candidate now and i'm still going to try to get the hatch out there and we'll go from there because we leave to that next weekend but yeah next thursday yeah next thursday so i only got like four days to get ready so that's gonna do it for this video guys and so unfortunate but we killed her odyssey but she'll be back very soon yeah if anyone has a k24 hit me up it's sleeved so you\n"
