The Mille Miglia: A Celebration of Classic Cars in Siena

As I stepped into the beautiful city of Siena, Italy, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This was day three of the Mille Miglia, one of my favorite events in Italy, and I was eager to explore the stunning landscapes and experience the thrill of classic cars cruising through the narrow streets. The event is known for its unique blend of history, passion, and beauty, and I was determined to soak up every moment.

As I made my way through the charming streets of Siena, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the sheer number of classic cars on display. The Mille Miglia is famous for its 1500cc class, and I was on the lookout for some of these iconic vehicles. As I walked through the crowds, I spotted several Ferrari 250 GTs, including one that belonged to Sir Stirling Moss, which added an extra layer of excitement to my day.

One of the most unique aspects of the Mille Miglia is the way the event is set up. The entire town is lined with restaurants and cafes, creating a festive atmosphere that's hard to match anywhere else in the world. I had settled into a beautiful pizzeria, where I could watch the cars cruise by while enjoying a cappuccino and potentially a glass of wine.

As I sipped my coffee, I couldn't help but notice the sheer number of classic cars on display. There were vintage Ferraris, Alfa Romanos, and even a few rare Porsche models. The owners and drivers of these vehicles were clearly passionate about their cars, and it was clear that this event was a labor of love for everyone involved.

As the day wore on, I began to think about my plan for the evening. I had decided to blast off from Siena and head to Parma, where the final stop for the day would be held. The goal was to capture the arrival of the classic cars as they made their way into town, which was always a thrilling experience.

As we arrived in Parma, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The whole town was out, and the streets were flooded with people eager to catch a glimpse of the passing cars. It was clear that this event was going to be an epic day, and I was determined to make the most of it.

Despite the chaos and excitement of the event, there were moments when things didn't quite go according to plan. For example, I had been warned about the potential for a "boss horse noises" sound effect to be used by some of the drivers, but it wasn't until later that I realized what they meant. It seemed that one of the drivers had decided to use a rather...unusual...sound effect to announce his presence, and it left me in stitches.

As the day drew to a close, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. Despite the fact that we didn't see James and Tim at the final destination, which was part of our mission, I knew that I had experienced something truly special. The Mille Miglia is an event that's hard to forget, and I felt lucky to have been able to experience it.

As I packed up my camera gear and said goodbye to the beautiful city of Parma, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards everyone involved in the event. Thanks to Benson for helping me film and drive, Chris and Elliot for inviting me along, and Guy for being part of the adventure. And to all of you who have enjoyed this article, I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello welcome to scene through glass and welcome to day three of the Mille Miglia you join me in one of my favorite places in Italy Siena I discovered this place while I came to space for the first time last year during vlog our Alps and discover it it's one of the oldest towns in Italy and it's one of the most beautiful and today is all about celebrating the beauty of Mille Miglia by hunting down the classics and that means hunting down a 150 and mr. JW 80 in this part of the milla milla better today I want to find them in this absolute beautiful chaos this is one of the coolest things I've ever seen if Siena wasn't beautiful enough already having these cars cruising through these tiny little road it's just a movie nothing else coming now there we go the fame of its day with squeaky brakes it just doesn't stop now one of the coolest and potentially craziest things about this event which I think could only happen in an event in Italy is that the entire room is lined with restaurants and cafes so Benson I've currently set up shop in a beautiful pizzeria I'm just gonna watch things roll in with a cappuccino and potentially a glass of wine for the year I'll cope next to it amazing how we're gonna wait for Shmi and James to walk past and we can just grab them how's the Shmuel Adelia there's mille miglia that's what we got going on right here at the DCR 300sl I'm good but you enjoying this a few guys pulling out why am i enjoying myself let me think about this I'm retracing the roots of Sir Stirling Moss another sadie's 300sl Gullwing Mille Miglia you're driving that yes where's your have an eternity where's out your hands well it's very cool I mean the part that you're just doing this day in doubt it's pretty special how's the lack of aircon well you got a haircut no we don't know these windows you can remove them but you can only remove them when the car is obviously parked our car do you know what we've got because there's the aircon drive fair point okay well look good luck guys kill it awesome to see you dude the really mad thing is those classics and to be fair even the Ferraris go through a million towns like that I mean we were stuck there like open-mouthed going this is incredible but that's like the 1500 they've done but yes very cool I'm glad we saw the schmear I'm glad we saw James and we're not gonna crack on it just kind of be in the mix and chase these classics see what they're like on the road here some of them and continue to enjoy the meal Amelia because it's insane we have decided we are going to skip ahead as once again because it's awesome following the classic so many of them stopped for fuel or health check-ups or for lunch or for whatever it is quite hard to stay with the pack we haven't seen team or James again and in fact we've seen a whole of the cars we don't even see in Siena so Susie the sat-nav is now taking us to sounds go repeating herself we're headed to Lucca which is like an absolutely beautiful it looks like a beautiful like moated city doesn't it does what we're going for so yes ahead to Luca now if sitting in the center of Siena wasn't already cool enough little cough something completely different but equally as awesome in my opinion it's a ward sister used to be a moat outside I'm trying to sound on top of the business looking down onto cars I got cars go behind me on top of their driver beautiful sunshine like another little cappuccino by the way regular viewers will know that I'm addicted to Starbucks I will fully admit when in Italy you could I mean I don't think there is a Starbucks find that little advancer seems to be the one it's such a unique event this one I can't think of many other events around the world like here but it's also we've spent the first two days Ferraris very modern man out with a holla class and sometimes I have no idea what they are it's just it's so much fun the passion of the people could be automated and is a tile a bit longer Benson running well somewhere gets an extra shop right Lucas smashed that was lovely we set that for a little bit of time so quite a few cars coming through but I get the feeling that the classics are really split up now there's a lot of them over a long distance and we can't work out how many we've seen or haven't seen and how many still to come through so our plan of attack is this we're gonna go to the hotel which is in South Sea I'm Maggie on it derma I've pronounced that awfully but it's the same place I stay for the best of Italy festival and you need to remember that because we want to capture our first and last like evening roll in because every night the classics turn up to the sort of finished destination very late they get there usually in the dark um as a bit of a party so we want to try and catch that so we haven't really experienced that you sorted a bit last night in Rome it's a little bit I passed out once sleep so yes we're gonna blast there and hopefully catch everything arriving at night that's at least our plan breaky and attempt detected no joke oh so that's why dear Lauren was going off I think it might have been the boss horse noises of the classics don't really I think someone try to steal our car cos it's a little you buddy's gone names on air yeah stealing songs jump for a school with a name badge you're not gonna get away with that right to salsa Maggie ory Owens welcome to Parma then this is the final stop for the day and you have to remember for these guys in the classes they've been up since I think 7 a.m. was the departure it's 9:30 in the first few are starting to roll in the whole town is out I get to see their Bible of the cars the streets are flooded it's pretty cool to see it was moving around trying to get my bearings anything to come in I don't think Jimmy o'james is here yet so maybe our cruising about taking on the sights and sounds right as we're waiting for a few others to still turn up in terms of Tim and James we've come for food without pretense what we do or why do anything but when we're not there we go yes we've come for we've come for food and this video will end when either team or James turn up and it could be tomorrow is in the car before me yeah take out the camera Wow what and what a ridiculously epic day right I'm so glad we did that I'm so glad we went and found the classics what's left of them because there was a few on the side of the road and a few one we saw high-efficient I'm sad that we didn't see James and Tim at the end which was kind of our mission but we are also a bit tired so we have got up a little bit early we could have stayed a bit longer but we've been awake since god knows what an hour and we didn't even start at the start we had a lie-in so but we have finished after the end which we've been to and come back to Sam's iPhone anyway it's been an awesome awesome day I hope you guys have enjoyed it something a little bit different pretty much the end of our meal Amelia adventure we've got one more video coming hopefully tomorrow but it's going to be a little bit more focused on this car rather than the van itself so we hope you've enjoyed it thanks massively to benson for helping me out film and drive and partake in this entire event thanks also to Chris and Elliot and guy for basically inviting me I hope you've enjoyed it again I've said that like four times I hope you have enjoyed it I really have never enjoyed us a major subscribe for plenty more videos to come\n"
