Red Beans and Squash in Hoisin Sauce

Welcome to Cooking Cheer: Red Beans and Squash with Hoiston Sauce

Hey everybody and welcome back to Cooking Cheer today in this episode we're doing up another healthy recipe red beans and squash and hoiston sauce I got all my ingredients ready here we're set to go I know you're going to love it so let's get started.

I'm going to start by adding some oil to a preheated pan now I'm going to add in the ginger the garlic and I'm just going to stir and sauté this just until it becomes fragrant. This should take maybe oh I'd say a minute or two. The aroma of ginger and garlic will fill your kitchen, making you feel like you're cooking up something special.

Next, I'll add in the squash and stir and fry this over medium heat just until the squash basically becomes fork tender. This should take oh I'd say 8 to 10 minutes at this point in time. You want the squash to be tender but still hold its shape, so don't overcook it. While the squash is cooking, you can start thinking about what else you're going to add to your dish.

Once the squash is cooked, I'm going to add in the red beans and I made these up last night so they were ready to go today which saves a lot of time. I'm just going to take my two spoons and toss these until the beans and the Squash are nicely combined. This will help distribute the flavors throughout your dish.

Now, let's talk about the sauce. I'm going to add in the soy sauce followed by the hoiston sauce. Hoiston sauce is a type of fermented bean paste that adds depth and umami flavor to your dish. I'll also add some water brown sugar the vinegar, and my all-time favorite ingredient - freshly ground pepper. Take my a topo spoons and toss everything until the squash and the beans are nicely covered with the sauce.

What's next? Well, I'm going to bring this to a nice soft boil reduce the heat to low slip a lid on this and allow it to simmer for an additional oh I'd say 8 to 10 minutes. This will help all the flavors meld together and the squash and beans to absorb all that delicious sauce.

After 8 to 10 minutes, everything is nicely done. The squash and beans are tender, the sauce has thickened, and the flavors have come together in perfect harmony. It's time to turn off the heat and we're ready to plate. This is always my favorite part of cooking - getting to enjoy what you've made.

So, let's take a look at our finished dish. Mmm... this looks and smells amazing! The beans and squash are done perfectly, and the soy sauce is nicely accented with the other spices. It's a great side dish or appetizer that's sure to impress your friends and family.
