How to Make Dim Sum-style Black Bean Pork Spare Ribs

How to Make Dim Sum-Style Sparabs: A Delicious and Easy Recipe

Hello everyone, it's Emmy here, and welcome back to my channel! Today, I'm excited to share with you a recipe for dim sum-style sparabs that are sure to become a staple in your kitchen. For those of you who may not be familiar with dim sum, it's a type of Chinese breakfast or brunch dish where you visit a restaurant and order from a variety of small dishes, including steamed buns, noodles, oval-shaped dishes, and more.

If you're interested in trying dim sum at home, this recipe is a great place to start. Sparabs are essentially little pork niblets that are cut into one-inch pieces and steamed with a delicious black bean corn starchy thickened sauce. And the best part? You don't need any special equipment to make them - just a simple recipe and some basic kitchen tools.

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Emmy, why are you using this new rice cooker that Tiger Corporation sent me?" Well, I'll tell you why - it's because I want to show you that even with the latest technology, there's no substitute for good old-fashioned cooking techniques and simple recipes. And trust me, this recipe is easy peasy!

To start, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). While that's heating up, let's get started on our sparabs. Begin by sprinkling about half a teaspoon of baking soda over the pork niblets - don't worry if it looks like a lot, trust me, it's just right! Next, sprinkle one teaspoon of sugar over the top and mix everything together really well, making sure all the pieces are coated evenly.

Now, cover the bowl with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate for about an hour to two hours. This is important, as it allows the pork to tenderize and become nice and juicy. After that, place the bowl in a colander and rinse the pork niblets really well under cold running water - you want them to be nice and clean! Finally, pat dry with some paper towels.

Next up, it's time to make our marinade. Now, I know some of you may be thinking, "Emmy, why are we using black bean sauce? Can't we just use regular soy sauce or something?" But trust me, the thick, starchy consistency of black bean sauce is what makes this dish truly special. So, go ahead and grab your favorite black bean sauce - I used one that's specifically designed for stir-frying.

Now, in a separate bowl, mix together the marinade ingredients (I'll list them out below). Add the pork niblets to the marinade and toss everything together until they're nice and coated. Cover the bowl again with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight - you want those flavors to meld together like magic!

As for the rice cooker, well... let's just say it's a bonus feature! According to the instruction booklet, you can use it to cook stews, soups, and other dishes in a slow cooker fashion. I've yet to try this out myself, but I'm excited to give it a shot soon.

Speaking of which, my husband and I are expecting another baby in the near future - talk about chaotic! We're trying to enjoy this "calm before the storm" period while we can, so tools like this rice cooker will definitely come in handy. And I should show you what our little bun is up to now... And finally, let's not forget about the finished product - those delicious sparabs! To serve, simply place them on a plate or in a bowl and garnish with sliced green onions, if desired. My favorite way to eat them? Over a bed of rice, of course!

In conclusion, making dim sum-style sparabs is an easy and delicious recipe that's perfect for beginners or seasoned cooks alike. And the best part? You don't need any special equipment - just simple ingredients and basic kitchen tools. So go ahead, give it a try, and let me know what you think in the comments below!

Marinade Ingredients:
