easy a little gravel track so you can get a bit of an idea of the video quality in daylight settings and also the stabilization obviously it's all about hyper smoothness yeah but what happens if well there's no one watching I turn these around and have a lot of a jog both GoPros are shooting at 4k 30 here and you can definitely see how the hero 7 on the right smooths out the bumps and gives you a much more stable video the hero 6 isn't exactly bad but the 7 does look like it's on a gimbal so that's pretty cool but just look what happens when I set them both to record at 4k 60 this is ridiculous now I love shooting at 4k 60 as it means in the Edit afterwards I can slow it down to half speed and get some really nice slow-motion there are a couple of caveats though it doesn't work in higher framerate modes like 1080p 120 or 240 and it will scale back the smoothness when you're in lower light you can turn it off completely though if you prefer there's also a new time warp feature that uses hyper smooth so even just walking down a path handheld you get some beautifully smooth hyperlapse footage side-by-side video quality is similar but there are a few improvements on the hero 7 while neither handle low-light conditions particularly well often becoming quite noisy the hero 7 is slightly sharper you can see a little bit more detail in the leaves it has a more accurate and natural white balance you can see the hero 7 doesn't produce the same purpley hues to colors you often get on here at 6 you can really see that difference on the dirt ground and looking at them both the hero 7 just looks a bit less washed out the trees and the foliage are more vibrant and just more true to life but what's about photos a lot of people use their GoPros to take stills while they're both 12 megapixels and is kind of hard to tell them apart they both take great photos and the hero 7 does come with a new super photo mode that combines HDR noise reduction and some other optimizations but honestly I'm struggling to tell the difference here let me know if you see something I'm missing in the comments although I am running pre-release software here so we'll have to revisit this after release so far then it's all about hyper smooth but there are a few other nifty new features on the hero sermon firstly there's a whole new user interface GoPro Sayle designed it to feel a lot more like a phone and jumping between settings resolutions and framerates seems much more intuitive on a new one the hero 6 just feels kind of janky to use in comparison and for the first time you can use it vertically in the whole UI adjusts gopro say some older models will be updated with a new UI so it may not be a reason alone to upgrade if your current model is gonna get this as well but I'm not sure when that will be the here are seven black offers the same protune mode if you want tinker with the camera settings super view for super wide angle shots and voice control but for most options it is easier to adjust them in the GoPro app the hero 7 also comes with some really cool social media features as I say you can now use it vertically and shoot in portrait mode which is ideal for Instagram and snapchat posts short clips lets you shoot quick 15 or 30-second clips which is ideal for an interest story and for the first time you can now livestream straight from the GoPro well via the app on your phone right now it's just Facebook live but YouTube and instagram live are coming soon but what about battery life well again I should stress this is pre-release software I'm using firmware that was actually updated today the 20th of September but overall battery life isn't quite as good it seems half an hour of shooting 4k 30 video used 36% of the battery on the hero 6 verses 41 percent on the hero 7 so that's a 12% decrease hmm so how much is this going to cost well the new hero 7 black will set you back 379 pounds here in the UK and 399 dollars in the US when it goes on sale on September 27 that is the same price as before as pre impressed if you build a comic with stabilization into the cojiro 7 for free essentially so now they're going to sell fewer anyway let me know anything in the comments
GoPro Hero 7 Black vs Hero 6 Black - What's New _ The Tech Chap
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys I'm Tom a tech check on this as you can see that bit of a different video because I'm actually shooting this right now on the brand new GoPro Hero 7 black and here it is the hero 7 black which as you can see doesn't look a whole lot different from previous GoPros in fact here's the hero 6 next to it so a lot has stayed the same the design which I guess there's a good thing as it means all the accessories and mounts will still work with it the GPU one processor inside is also the same you get the same 2 inch touchscreen they both record up to 4k 60 video or 1080p 240 slo-mo and shoot 12 megapixel photos so what is new well actually quite a lot but the headline is hyper smooth a new kind of electronic image stabilisation GoPro are calling the hero 7 the most stable video camera ever by adding the same kind of smoothness you get with a gimbal like the GoPro camera grip but actually built into the GoPro so I'm holding the hero 6 and the hero 7 side-by-side walking along nice and easy a little gravel track so you can get a bit of an idea of the video quality in daylight settings and also the stabilization obviously it's all about hyper smoothness yeah but what happens if well there's no one watching I turn these around and have a lot of a jog both GoPros are shooting at 4k 30 here and you can definitely see how the hero 7 on the right smooths out the bumps and gives you a much more stable video the hero 6 isn't exactly bad but the 7 does look like it's on a gimbal so that's pretty cool but just look what happens when I set them both to record at 4k 60 this is ridiculous now I love shooting at 4k 60 as it means in the Edit afterwards I can slow it down to half speed and get some really nice slow-motion there are a couple of caveats though it doesn't work in higher framerate modes like 1080p 120 or 240 and it will scale back the smoothness when you're in lower light you can turn it off completely though if you prefer there's also a new time warp feature that uses hyper smooth so even just walking down a path handheld you get some beautifully smooth hyperlapse footage side-by-side video quality is similar but there are a few improvements on the hero 7 while neither handle low-light conditions particularly well often becoming quite noisy the hero 7 is slightly sharper you can see a little bit more detail in the leaves it has a more accurate and natural white balance you can see the hero 7 doesn't produce the same purpley hues to colors you often get on here at 6 you can really see that difference on the dirt ground and looking at them both the hero 7 just looks a bit less washed out the trees and the foliage are more vibrant and just more true to life but what's about photos a lot of people use their GoPros to take stills while they're both 12 megapixels and is kind of hard to tell them apart they both take great photos and the hero 7 does come with a new super photo mode that combines HDR noise reduction and some other optimizations but honestly I'm struggling to tell the difference here let me know if you see something I'm missing in the comments although I am running pre-release software here so we'll have to revisit this after release so far then it's all about hyper smooth but there are a few other nifty new features on the hero sermon firstly there's a whole new user interface GoPro Sayle designed it to feel a lot more like a phone and jumping between settings resolutions and framerates seems much more intuitive on a new one the hero 6 just feels kind of janky to use in comparison and for the first time you can use it vertically in the whole UI adjusts gopro say some older models will be updated with a new UI so it may not be a reason alone to upgrade if your current model is gonna get this as well but I'm not sure when that will be the here are seven black offers the same protune mode if you want tinker with the camera settings super view for super wide angle shots and voice control but for most options it is easier to adjust them in the GoPro app the hero 7 also comes with some really cool social media features as I say you can now use it vertically and shoot in portrait mode which is ideal for Instagram and snapchat posts short clips lets you shoot quick 15 or 30-second clips which is ideal for an interest story and for the first time you can now livestream straight from the GoPro well via the app on your phone right now it's just Facebook live but YouTube and Instagram live are coming soon but what about battery life well again I should stress this is pre-release software I'm using firmware that was actually updated today the 20th of September but overall battery life isn't quite as good it seems half an hour of shooting 4k 30 video used 36% of the battery on the hero 6 verses 41 percent on the hero 7 so that's a 12% decrease hmm so how much is this going to cost well the new hero 7 black will set you back 379 pounds here in the UK and 399 dollars in the US when it goes on sale on September 27 that is the same price as before as pre impressed if you build a comic with stabilization into the cojiro 7 for free essentially so
