LG Gram Pro 16 OLED Review - World's LIGHTEST Laptop is 2X FASTER! [2024]

**LG Gram OLED 16 Review: A High-Performance Laptop with a High Price Tag**

The LG Gram OLED 16 is a high-performance laptop that boasts impressive specs and features, but comes with a hefty price tag. In this review, we'll take a closer look at the laptop's design, performance, battery life, and other key features to help you decide if it's worth the investment.

**Design and Build Quality**

The LG Gram OLED 16 is a stunningly designed laptop that is both lightweight and compact. Weighing in at just over 2 pounds, it's one of the lightest laptops available on the market, making it easy to carry around. The chassis is also remarkably durable, with a metal body that can withstand rough handling. However, we did notice that the fans get a bit loud when they kick in, which may be a concern for some users.

**Performance and Gaming**

The LG Gram OLED 16 is equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, which provides excellent performance for gaming and other demanding tasks. We were impressed to see that we could average 61 frames per second in Cyberpunk at 1200p with medium settings and DLSS enabled. This is a remarkable feat for a laptop of this size and weight. We also saw similar results in Forza Motorsport and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, with frame rates ranging from 56 to 60 FPS on high settings.

**Battery Life**

One of the standout features of the LG Gram OLED 16 is its battery life, which lasted an impressive 10 hours when watching a 200 nits video playback test. This is comparable to the MacBook Air, and we were pleased to see that it outlasted our expectations. However, in mixed everyday use, we saw battery life dwindle to around 7-8 hours.

**Webcam and Audio**

The LG Gram OLED 16's webcam is a major highlight of this laptop. With a resolution of 1080p and an I sensor for face unlocking into Windows, it provides excellent video quality and functionality. We also appreciated the bright and clear audio output, which was a welcome surprise given the laptop's compact design.

**Price**

The LG Gram OLED 16 is a pricey laptop, with the base model starting at $1,700. However, this price tag includes a 16-inch OLED display, an RTX 3050 GPU, and 16GB of RAM. If you're looking for a more affordable option, you can opt for the non-Pro LG Grams, which offer similar performance at a lower price point.

**Comparison to Other Laptops**

When compared to other laptops on the market, the LG Gram OLED 16 stands out for its impressive performance and sleek design. However, it falls short in terms of battery life and weight, with some users preferring the MacBook Air's longer battery life and lighter construction. The non-Pro LG Grams offer a more affordable alternative, while the Apple MacBook Air offers better portability and connectivity options.

**Conclusion**

The LG Gram OLED 16 is a high-performance laptop that offers impressive specs and features, but comes with a hefty price tag. While it may not be the best option for everyone, those who need a powerful laptop for gaming or demanding tasks will appreciate its performance and sleek design. However, at $2,100, this laptop is definitely out of reach for most budgets.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys I'm Tom the tech Chap and who wouldn't want one of these big OLED screen super thin and light design enough performance to say play cyberpunk on high settings or D I say get some work done as well as the name would suggest because it's the brand new 2024 LG gam Pro 16 OLED so is this 2024 model a big upgrade and is it actually worth buying well I will tell you and if you do find this video helpful a cheeky little thumbs up and a subscribe would be lovely now of course being an LG gram we get a big screen big battery that uncannily light feeling like it's half empty inside surprisingly durable materials and of course a very wobbly screen which seems to be gram tradition right now because I mention this every single year it never seems to get better the hinge itself is fine and I do appreciate you can actually open it one handed one fingered like that but that glossy screen with that wobble not a good combination anyway more importantly unlike older grams which could struggle with anything that needed a dedicated graphics card these 2020 4 Gs get Intel's core Ultra CPUs with much faster integrated arc graphics but this gam Pro not only gets the faster Ultra 755h CPU which gets more CES and a higher turbo wattage but also an Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU option as well as an improved dual fan cooling system and this gorgeous 120 HZ OLED screen there is also a 17-in gam Pro which is even bigger obviously and with nearly identical specs although that gets a 144 HZ IPS LCD display instead of OLED but I would go with the OLED every time but either way these are the biggest screens in the lightest laptops you can get the pro also meets Intel's Evo platform spec for thin and light laptops we get 16 or 32 gigs of RAM with a very healthy one or 2 terabytes of storage and if you do go with the RTX 3050 you also get a bigger battery we also get Windows hello face unlocking via the 1080p webcam we get Wi-Fi 6E two USB 4 Thunderball 4 type-c ports alongside a couple of very useful USB 3.2 type A's a fullsize HDMI 2.1 and an audio ja that is actually a very impressive range of ports for a laptop this thin the only thing it's missing that I would have liked is an SD card reader but you can always get adapters that's not bad but just look at that screen 16 in 16 by10 aspect ratio 1800p resolution which is kind of like qu HD Plus and 120 HZ Dynamic refresh rate and it's OLED which means you get those incredible Inky blacks Rich colors LG seconds this hits 400 nits of brightness which matched my calibration tests although I did record 500 nits sustained in SDR on 100% white window which is actually pretty good for an OLED also as I mentioned earlier it is pretty glossy and reflective and it misses out on the anti-glare coating you get with the LCD option I mean look at those Reflections you're going to have to be careful what you've got behind you cuz uh it does make it harder to see so as well as that we also don't really have any proper HDR support there's no display uh HDR certification with this either and it's also not a touchcreen it still looks good though and colors are accurate I wouldn't have any problems editing photos and videos on this also you've got LG's smart assistant app which comes with the usual OLED care options to minimize the chance of image retention but as with bur in on any OLED only time will tell but I'm not worried every year I review these LG grams and every year I like bounce them around like this and get comments saying what are you doing that's a really expensive laptop and you're right it's just so lightweight I just can't help throw it around a little bit and actually despite me dropping it a couple of times never had any issues it's actually surprisingly durable and while there is a bit of flex in the screen and the chassis as a whole LG say especially at these bigger sizes it actually does make it more durable like if you've got any backpack and things are pressing against it or you've got some weight on top then that little bit of flex like a good building during an earthquake can move around and not actually crack or break it also has some military 810h durability standard spec thing which basically means you can take this in places where well I probably wouldn't want to go anyway and at 12.4 MM it is less than a mil thicker than the MacBook Air M3 and these beveled edges around the sides help it look even smaller my only gripes aside from this screen wobble is that the lower bezel is a little bit chunky relatively to some of laptops you've seen and also as you can see there is a good amount of space around the trackpad where they could have either made the trackpad bigger or just condensed the whole laptop and made it a little bit more compact overall but that's not a huge deal it is also not the most exciting looking laptop little bit boring and drab and officy perhaps although I quite like this stealthy magnesium alloy chassis that we've got going on here I would have Lov to have seen the style the white sort of pearlescent one come to the pro as well but no crack it open and you can see we've got the big 90w hour battery here the new dual fan setup and you've got both M2 ssds which are upgradeable unlike the Solon Ram so if you do go with the one TB version then you can always add an extra drive down the line extra points for that we get a nice big track P which maybe isn't as insanely big as some others like the MacBook Air or Samsung Galaxy book 4 but it feels nice it's smooth it's responsive no complaints typing also feels good although the backli keys can feel a little bit cramped because we have that numpad to the side there but on the plus side we have a numpad I must admit though I don't love the speakers they're not bad it's just the downward firing 3 W speakers while Doby amamos Tunes just lack base and full of it flat not great not terrible but maybe the most interesting part of all this is the LG gram link this is an app which lets you link up to 10 of your windows Android or iOS devices to your Gram letting you mirror your phone or tablet screen onto the gram or use them as a second screen to extend your desktop and it actually works plus you can use your grams mouse and keyboard across the devices you can transfer files or photos between them and it's just a good way of being able to use different devices together in a way that's actually useful okay let's talk performance because the upgrade from last year's i7 13 60p which we had in the style I reviewed to this with the Intel Core Ultra 755h with the integrated arc graphics and that optional 3050 it's a pretty massive upgrade particularly in the graphics Department in PC Mark 10 which is a kind of whole system Benchmark the new Pro was actually only 12% faster than the old gram and it is actually a bit slower than the Asus zenok 14 pro with the same CPU in Gig bench 6 we're already looking at a 3% jump in single core although multi-core performance was up 36 % versus the new Macbook Air with the M3 chip well Intel still struggles with a single core but multi-core is very close and in the open CL Graphics test the new onboard arc graphics were 2.3 times faster while the RTX 350 was 52% faster than that although the M3 gives the arc a run for its money oh and by the way the RTX 350 in here is the 45 W MGP part which is roughly in the middle of the power range moving over to cinebench and single core performance jumped 14% and multicore a whopping 134% and while the new Intel arc graphics are around twice as fast as the old Iris XE and blender both it and the 350 have serious competition from the MacBook Air with M3 which actually beats them both although that only matters if your software works on a Mac and for games getting extras like nvidia's dlss you're still better off with a Windows PC everything was nice and stable under load although Max CPU temps do get a little bit toasty at times but the chassis never got got hot or uncomfortable to use and the fans don't get overly noisy either but it's not going to be silent like the fanless MacBook Air as for gaming well I average 61 frames per second in cyberpunk at 1200p with medium settings and dlss setup performance honestly a laptop this light feels like it shouldn't be able to do this I also averaged just over 60 FPS in Forza Motorsport shadow of the Tomb Raider averaged 56 FPS on high using the 3050 and I'm also pleased to see performed pretty much identically on batter again though turning on dlss performance gets us over that magic 60 FPS because remember it's not just the raw performance gain of having the RTX 350 you are also getting rate tracing and more importantly dlss upscaling which can make a massive difference to your games and of course with the Cuda cor av1 Nvidia Studio whether you're gaming video editing running 3D software having that 3050 makes it all significantly faster but what about battery life how long does this actually last well in my video playback test uh 200 nits running a 4K YouTube videos it lasted 10 hours which is actually pretty good given the size of the screen although it does fall short by a couple of hours uh versus the MacBook Air and with mixed Everyday Use I got about 7 to 8 hours so it will get you through a full day I must admit I'm also quite impressed with this webcam 1080p resolution we've also got the I sensor for face unlocking into windows and it's not bad if I just take it for walk with me change the lighting this is the backdrop of the studio not too bad but you're going to have to let me know in the comments how it looks and also how it sounds with the microphone that's a bit bright that's too bright there we go what do you think okay I've put it off long enough we have to talk about the price of this thing because for me that is the biggest issue I have this LG grandpr 16 OLED 2024 starts starts at $1,700 and actually that's a little bit misleading because that's not the OLED version that's just the regular LG Ram Pro with 16 GS of ram 1 TB storage integrated graphics and an LCD screen 1,700 the base OLED version with this screen is $2,100 and if you want the 3050 you also have to double the RAM and storage to 32 gigs 2 terabytes and that's $2400 now relatively speaking $300 extra to double the ram double the storage and other 350 makes complete sense I would do that if you've got the money but $2400 for this laptop top it's a lovely laptop but that's a lot of money because the thing is if you are going to spend that much and you do need a GPU then it's probably worth compromising on the weight and size a little bit and grabbing something with an RTX 4050 or 4060 which are both much faster and also opens up the likes of frame generation in games and don't forget Apple have just refreshed the MacBook Air lineup this is the 15in M3 we've got 16 gigs of ram in here 512 storage and it'll cost you $1,700 both very very nice laptops this has a slightly longer battery life I kind of prefer the design of it although it's a little bit heavier better webcam better speakers I prefer the touchpad and keyboard a little bit on this although the gram does have a 3050 option which is much better for gaming and of course Windows uh a better range of ports and also a bigger OLED 120 HZ screen this is still stuck with a 60 HZ IPS LCD it's also worth looking at the non-pro LG Gams for this year as you still get the same very impressive arc graphics and you can save a ton of cash and while this LG gram OLED is lovely there are cheaper OLED options although obviously in smaller and heavier designs you are still definitely paying a premium for it to be this light but what do you reckon would you spend $2,100 on the base model of this OLED or a little bit too expensive let me know what you make of the new LG Gams in the description below that's all right in the comments Below in the description I will leave a link to this if you fancy checking it out and it is a very impressive laptop I like it a lot assuming you have quite Deep Pockets and you really really do need it to be this light thank you so much watching guys if you enjoyed the video a cheeky like And subscribe would be fantastic and I'll see you next time right here on the tech chathey guys I'm Tom the tech Chap and
