In this video, we'll take a closer look at both devices and see which one comes out on top.

Apple iPad Mini and Design

The Apple iPad Mini is designed to be a compact and portable version of the full-sized iPad. It has a sleek and slim design that makes it easy to carry around, and its 7.9-inch screen is perfect for reading, browsing, and streaming content. The iPad Mini also features a lightning connector, which is a faster and more reliable connection than the standard USB connector used in many other devices.

On the other hand, the Google Nexus 7 is designed to be a budget-friendly option for those looking for an Android tablet. It has a similar design to the Apple iPad Mini, but with a few key differences. The Nexus 7 has a micro-USB connector and no NFC connectivity. It also features a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera.

Comparison of Design Features

One of the main differences between the two devices is their design features. The Apple iPad Mini has a sleek and modern design that is sure to appeal to those who value style and aesthetics. It also features a range of colorful options, including gold, silver, and black.

In contrast, the Google Nexus 7 has a more utilitarian design that is focused on functionality rather than style. While it may not be as visually appealing as the iPad Mini, it still offers a solid build quality and a range of features that make it an attractive option for those looking for a budget-friendly tablet.

Performance and Speed

When it comes to performance and speed, both devices offer impressive capabilities. The Apple iPad Mini is powered by a dual-core processor and has 512 megabytes of RAM, which makes it well-suited for demanding tasks like gaming and video editing.

The Google Nexus 7 also features a dual-core processor, but with only 1 gigabyte of RAM. However, the Nexus 7's processor is clocked at a higher speed than the iPad Mini's, making it potentially faster in certain tasks.

Comparison of Performance Features

One of the key differences between the two devices is their performance capabilities. The Apple iPad Mini has a slightly slower processor than the Google Nexus 7, but it still offers impressive performance for a device of its size and price.

In contrast, the Google Nexus 7's faster processor makes it better suited for demanding tasks like gaming and video editing. However, this also means that it may be more prone to overheating during extended use.

Operating System and Software

The Apple iPad Mini runs on iOS 6, which is a user-friendly operating system that offers a range of features and functionality. It's also highly secure, making it a great option for those who value privacy and security.

On the other hand, the Google Nexus 7 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which is a popular operating system among Android fans. While it may not be as user-friendly as iOS, it still offers a range of features and functionality that make it an attractive option for those looking for a budget-friendly tablet.

Comparison of Operating System Features

One of the main differences between the two devices is their operating system. The Apple iPad Mini runs on iOS 6, which offers a range of features and functionality that are unique to Apple devices.

In contrast, the Google Nexus 7 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which offers a more open and customizable experience than iOS. While this may make it less appealing to those who value ease of use, it still offers a lot of flexibility and control for those who want to customize their device.

Battery Life

Both devices claim up to 10 hours of battery life, but there are some differences in how they achieve this. The Apple iPad Mini has a slightly longer battery life than the Google Nexus 7, with estimates suggesting that it can last up to 11 hours on a single charge.

However, the Google Nexus 7's battery life is still impressive, and it offers a number of features that make it more efficient than other devices. For example, it has a low-power mode that helps to conserve battery life when the device is not in use.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enforeign what's up YouTube saf here on supersaf TV and in this video I'm going to be comparing the specs of the Apple iPad Mini to the Google Nexus 7. the iPad Mini just announced today officially and a sort of um sort of a u-10 on Apple's part because um Steve Jobs did say that the tablet format you know the smaller tablet format would not work but obviously Apple have seen the demand in the market for a smaller tablet and have responded with the Apple iPad Mini now a few people have asked me you know how does it compare to Android tablets in particular the Google Nexus 7 which is obviously a very popular tablet and I personally own one myself and you can see a full review of it here and what I'll be doing in this video is I'll be running through the key specs just to give you guys a better idea of the differences in Hardware between these two devices so let's begin with the some of the key things which are obviously the form factor and screen size screen size the iPad Mini comes in at 7.9 inches and the Nexus 7 7 inches so you've got a larger screen on the iPad Mini obviously now they made it they made they made the points of uh you know just really highlighting this uh that the even though it doesn't seem like it's uh that much bigger the iPad Mini uh it is uh 29.6 square inches whereas the Nexus 7 is 21.9 square inches in terms of surface Series so uh the iPad Mini is 35 larger so do bear that in mind uh in terms of resolution now this is a bit of a surprise for me but the iPad Mini is uh 1024x768 pixels uh Nexus 7 1280x800 uh slightly more than a 720P HD display so those are the differences in terms of the resolution now in terms of pixels per inch PPI the iPad Mini 162 versus uh 216 PPI on the Nexus 7 so um that was a bit of a surprise for me because um Apple obviously are known for their retina displays and really really crisp clear displays and uh not having this on the you know the iPad mini and quite a low resolution I believe it's the same as the iPad 2 was a bit of a surprise for me um but anyway yeah I mean so the Nexus 7 is going to give you more of a crisp and clear image because you're going to have more pixels per Ridge in terms of the surface area Dimensions uh won't go through all of these specifics but in terms of thickness 7.2 millimeters for the iPad Mini very very thin comparing that to the Nexus 7 which is 10.5 millimeters so it is considerably thinner than the Nexus 7 so uh better there as well slightly wider um obviously because it is a bigger screen but around about the same height now in terms of weight again at the iPad Mini very very light 308 grams the Nexus 7 340 grams so a lighter tablet even though it's got a slightly larger screen it's going to be a light tablet very very good there in terms of processor the iPad mini dual core A5 processor comparing that to the Nexus 7 which has a quad core 1.3 gigahertz processor now um this this pop this will probably mean that the next seven is going to be a bit more faster I mean I found it absolutely smooth and snappy really really Snappy uh the iPad I think the I5 is the same as the iPad 2 so in terms of speed it's not going to be as fast as the A6 X processor that's um in the I believe it's in the uh iPhone 5 so it's not going to be as good or the fourth generation uh sorry yeah the fourth generation iPad has an A6 X which is twice as fast as the a5x so yeah it's not going to be as fast as some of the other devices out there internal memory so the iPad you've got a few different options you've got the 16 32 64 gigabyte versions Nexus 7 you've only got the 8 and 16 gigabyte versions there's rumored to be a 32 gig version coming out next week on the 29th of October the Google event not 100 about that but currently you can only get the 8 and 16 gigabyte versions Wireless and mobile data the iPad obviously you've got the Wi-Fi option or you've also got the cellular options as well obviously at different prices which we'll talk about a little bit later 3G and 4G connectivity LTE um Nexus 7 you've only got the Wi-Fi so you've not got any data on there um if you did want to use it outside you might have to use your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot or something like that but it is just Wi-Fi uh in terms of ram the iPad Mini 512 megabytes of ram the Nexus 7 1 gig of RAM again I think in terms of Speed and Performance of the tablet I think the next seven has a bit of an edge here um rear camera okay the iPad has a 5 megapixel uh camera rear facing camera that can film 1080p HD uh Nexus 7 does not have a rear facing camera so um obviously clear winner here the iPad you're going to get the rear facing camera front-facing camera pretty similar on both sides you've got 1.2 megapixel camera on both devices front facing with which can film 720P HD so that's very very similar kind of even on both sides here connector obviously Apple now upgrading the connectors so you've got the lightning connector as with the iPhone 5 for the iPad Mini um Nexus 7 obviously micro USB as with other Android devices are a bit more Universal NFC connectivity the iPad does not have NFC connectivity the Nexus 7 does have NSC connectivity Apple obviously with the iPhone 5 as well did not have this in here I think they're not really you know looking into putting that until later on but um for for later devices but the iPad Mini does not have NFC operating system obviously this is the key difference here the iPad has the iOS 6 operating system Nexus 7 is running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean I've really really liked it very very fast and smooth and I think this is going to be the key difference I'm not going to go into Android versus Apple uh here uh into a huge debate because obviously that's maybe I'll save that for another video but um obviously I think it comes down to person preference which operating system do you most prefer so um I think that's going to be a key decider battery life the iPad and iPad mini and the Nexus 7 both claim up to 10 hours battery life a slightly different uh ratings in terms of the ma nature but both are claiming about 10 hours usage on each tablet now coming down to the price um this is obviously another important decider of the iPad for the 16 gig version it is 269 pounds or 329 now obviously the other versions I'm not going to put the list them all here I'm just going to compare them directly to the Nexus 7. the 8 gig version obviously is 159 pounds or 199 but the 16 gig which is the comparable model here is a 199 pounds or 249 dollars it has become cheaper um you can get it in a lot of places I've seen for uh less than this because it has been out for some time so uh clearly the Nexus 7 are much much cheaper more budget tablet here and um I'm actually quite impressed by the fact that the price of the iPad is uh that I'm as I was expecting to me more you know constraints from Apple Apple products they're usually because of them a bit more premium in terms of the build um they do charge a little bit more but so I was quite surprised at the price but then again the Nexus 7 is considerably cheaper I mean if looking at in terms of uh pounds you can 69 pounds uh you know it's saving probably a little bit more I'm talking about the default price here it has gone cheaper so I will mention that to summarize those are the key features overall I think both very very good tablets and as I said the two kind of deciding factors I think for most people will be the price in the upgrade system if you're an Apple user and you've you know you've got an iPhone you've got an iPad and stuff I mean obviously you're going to be more inclined to go towards uh the Apple route and go for the Apple iPad again if you're an Android User you might go for the Nexus 7 which is going to be a bit more compatible with the rest of your devices the iPad obviously has a few key features such as the rear facing camera which the Nexus 7 likes but there's there's a few things here but and I really hope this video has sort of clarified some of the things for you here I mean what are your views on the iPad mini and the next seven I mean which one would you go for drop me a comment below do let me know what you think if I do get a hold of an iPad Mini I'll do a full review and I'll compare it to the Nexus 7 hand in hand hope you enjoyed this video
