LattePanda Alpha Hackintosh macOS 10.14 Mojave - Smallest Hackintosh

**Testing the M1 Mac Mini: A New Era in Mobile Computing**

As I boot up my new M1 Mac Mini, I'm excited to put it through its paces and see how it performs. With its 40-50 megabit processor, I'm curious to know if this tiny computer can handle everyday tasks with ease. I decide to start by rendering a video in Final Cut Pro, adding some effects and exporting it to my desktop. The result is impressive - the video renders quickly and easily, and the export process is faster than expected.

**Rendering and Exporting**

I add a fade-in and fade-out effect to the video, but remember that too many effects can be taxing on the CPU. I test different settings, including 1080p resolution and fast encoding, and export the video to my desktop in under 1 minute and 11 seconds. This is a remarkable feat for such a small computer, and I'm impressed by its performance.

**Benchmarks and Performance**

Next, I run some benchmark tests using Geekbench, comparing my M1 Mac Mini to other Mac models. The results are encouraging - the single-core score is around 3141, while the multi-core score is a respectable 6300. This puts it in line with older Macs from 2016 and 2011, but still faster than some newer models.

**YouTube Playback and Browsing**

I test YouTube playback on my M1 Mac Mini, playing a 4K video in fullscreen mode to see how it performs. To my surprise, the computer handles it easily, without any issues or slowdowns. I then browse the web using Safari and Chrome browsers, watching videos and scrolling through websites with ease.

**App Installation and Gaming**

I download some apps from the App Store, including GarageBand, and install them on the M1 Mac Mini. Unlike older hackintosh setups, this computer is able to download and install apps without issue. I then test a popular video game, Fortnite, in low settings, expecting it to perform poorly due to the small processor. However, the result is surprisingly smooth - with an average of around 24 FPS at 1080p low settings.

**Conclusion**

Overall, my experience with the M1 Mac Mini has been incredibly positive. Its performance and capabilities far exceed expectations for a computer of its size. Whether browsing the web, playing games, or editing videos, this little unit is capable of handling everyday tasks with ease. I'm excited to see how it will perform in the long term, but so far, I'm thoroughly impressed.

**Future Plans**

I have several plans to expand on my testing of the M1 Mac Mini, including installing Linux, RetroPie, and Android, as well as creating tutorials and videos for these setups. If you're interested in learning more about these projects, be sure to check out my channel and subscribe for updates.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's going on guys to CTA Prime back here again with another law tape an alpha video for about the past four or five days I've been messing around with the Lotte Panda trying to get OS X installed on it otherwise known as Mac OS now I was able to get it installed using yoona beast it's really easy to set it up but I could not get the onboard GPU working correctly that's all been fixed now we now have Mac OS moment 10.1 for running natively on the lot a panda alpha and this is all thanks to one of my good buddies and fellow youtuber dawn over at Nova spirit tech he just put up a how-to video now it's a little different uninstalling than I do it I use you know beast which is pretty much an all-in-one installer but the fix that he came up with works perfectly for the setup I have here if you're interested in turning your latte pan alpha into a little hackintosh machine definitely go check his video out he does a full install guide he has everything you need to get the GPU up and running in the description of that video and while you're there I suggest subscribing to the channel because he puts out some really awesome content he focuses on a lot of Linux with single board computers and things like that he has a lot of awesome tutorials and the guy is just super smart couple things to point out the built-in Wi-Fi on the lot a peon alphas not working in Mac OS it's an Intel chip and there's been a lot of trouble down the line for hackintosh in this specific chip on board audio is also not working but that will probably be fixed in the next couple days maybe up to a week but for now I'm just using a USB sound card and Ethernet works great this little thing is truckin also this will have to be installed on an MDOT to drive or a SATA drive if you have an adapter it will not run from the built-in emmc on the Alpha so with all that out of the way let's go ahead and see how Mac OS runs on this little single board computer alright so I'm just gonna start off by booting it up got the power on we're gonna see how long it takes to boot into Mac OS I'm running this from 128 gigabyte cheap transcend MDOT to SSD it's gonna bring up the bootloader and have it set up to automatically boot from that end - with Mac OS installed on it now one of the reasons this worked so well on the Lotte Panda Alfa's because this has the same exact CPU as the 2017 12 inch MacBooks it's a dual core Intel m3 7 Y 30 CPU with built in Intel HD 615 graphics from the time I press the power till the time we get into the login menu here 39 seconds and I'm sure the speed could be improved with a better SSD so like I mentioned Wi-Fi and onboard audio is not working but pretty much everything else is I'm gonna go over some of the stuff that I've been testing out about this Mac so here we are Mac OS Mojave it's showing that I have an iMac but as you can see the processors that 1.6 gigahertz Intel Core M 3 8 gigabytes of 1867 megahertz ddr3 RAM in my hundred and twenty eight gigabyte drive I am capturing this with an al gato HD 60 ass but it is plugged into a 32 inch samsung television looks pretty clean now we're only doing 1080p here but it's perfect for something like this audio might not be the best here but i'm gonna go into sound I'm using a USB audio adapter this was actually two dollars on Amazon and that's why I say the sound might not be great onboard Bluetooth is also working I've connected my xbox 1s wireless controller over bluetooth so a lot of my regular viewers might know this but I'm sure a lot of people don't my main computer is actually a Mac it's a 2017 4k iMac with a 3.4 gigahertz I 5 I also have the Radeon Pro 5 64 gigabyte video card in it for the longest time I was running an op d-plex hackintosh build with an i7 and mountain lion on it but I had to upgrade because it's one of my main tools I'm really surprised at how well Final Cut Pro runs all in the Alpha it's definitely not as fast as the iMac I own now and if we added a bunch of 3d text in here we could really slow it down if you're doing 1080p video this thing is gonna work fine using Final Cut Pro and in fact this video that you're watching right now was totally edited rendered exported and uploaded from the law tape an alpha so I record all of my screen capture at 1080p 60fps yes at 40 to 50 megabits a second it really depends on how well the capture cards work and overall it's pretty cool to see this editing software running on a single board computer so while I'm here I'm just gonna drag and drop some gameplay footage from doom in here we're just gonna make it one minute like I said 1080p 60fps recorded at 40 to 50 megabits I'm gonna see how long it takes to render and upload this to my desktop now I'm just gonna add a fade in and fade out but remember the more effects you add to a video the harder it's gonna be on your CPU and playback in the browsers fine run in at full speed here drag and drop couple transitions and I want to export this one-minute video to my desktop I will fast forward this settings I'm gonna make sure that we are at 1080p exporting to computer and I'm gonna do faster encoding now we could go with higher quality but even on my big iMac it takes a long time for a short video go to my desktop and export just speed this up I did speed the video up here but we exported a one-minute 1080p 60fps video to our desktop and one minute and 11 seconds not bad for a super tiny computer I went ahead and ran a Geekbench little benchmarking score single core 3141 multi-core 6300 and 9 so let's kind of compare this with some other Mac's single core we're right around the 2016 MacBook with the m3 the 6th generation version and if we move up a little bit we're just as fast as a 2011 MacBook Pro with an i7 multi-core were actually faster than the 2017 mid refresh of the MacBook Air with that I five fifth generation I'm sure it's gonna handle this fine but I do want to test some YouTube playback I'm just gonna find a 4k video we're only outputting 1080p but we'll see how it performs go with one of these 4k test videos and I'll do fullscreen on it you won't have any trouble browsing the web watching YouTube Netflix Hulu Prime whatever you watch it's gonna work in the Safari or Chrome browser on the lot a panda running Mac OS so I know back in the day hackintosh did have trouble downloading apps from the App Store but straight out of box I was able to download apps right here from the App Store just sign in with your account I'm downloading GarageBand right now the last thing I wanted to test here was a video game lots of people are playing it right now and I've heard rumor that it doesn't perform well on Mac and I don't think it's gonna perform well on this little unit but we're gonna give it a try now here's fortnight so in my settings we are at 1080p all low settings honestly I should have tried this at 720p but we're gonna give it a shot here at 1080 show fps on motion blur is off vsync is off and we're pretty much as low as we can go at 1080p the FPS counter is listed in the top right hand corner right beside the map there's not a lot going on in the game right now and we're at close to the 30fps at is fluctuate and dropping down but I'm sure if we got into battle it would drop down significantly to a point where it's pretty much unplayable at 1080p low settings see if I can get some speed up and drop this down I'd say it's averaging around 24 FPS 1080p low settings so that's it for this video guys I really appreciate you watching this could very well be the smallest Mac Mini we could call it a Mac micro or at the eye panda if you have a cool name let me know in the comments below it's been a really enjoyable experience very stable I've had it on for 2 days straight and like I mentioned this whole video you're watching right now was edited on the alpha running Mac OS in Final Cut Pro the Alpha has been an absolute blast to mess around with I've done a lot of videos on it I'm gonna leave a playlist in the description I've done some testing with Windows 10 like it sits I've also added some external GPUs go ahead and check those videos out I do have a couple more plan and I'm not trying to intentionally spam you guys out on the Alpha but I've been having so much fun with it it's hard to put it down I still haven't even had a chance to install Linux on this thing yet a lot of people want me to test out retropie bada serra laka and even android so if you're interested in seeing more make sure you hit the subscribe button and turn notifications on and make sure you check out nova spirit txt channel he's got a full tutorial on installing mac OS on the lotte panda alpha he includes
