The Difference Between Developer Betas and Public Betas for iOS: A Comprehensive Guide
Hey guys, I know myself here welcome back to the channel today I wanted to answer a very popular question on my channel and that question is what is the difference between developer betas for ios and public betas for ios. Now by the way ios 14 public beta 3 has just been released today on july the 23rd which brings me to the first topic what is one of the major differences between the betas is release date schedules.
So we did not see a public beta until two weeks after the first developer beta however developers do have to pay $100 a year for a subscription in order to get the latest beta on day one for beta 1. Public beta testers don't see the beta until about two weeks and a half later but it is entirely free so on june 22nd apple released beta 1 for ios 14 public beta testers did not see beta 1 or beta 2 rather until two weeks later. Now back in ios 10 ios 11 apple would name these a little different which was also confusing for developers and public beta testers.
So if apple was to release ios 14 developer beta 3 if it was the same naming scheme as before this would now be ios 14 public beta 2 so it would seem that public beta testers would be one beta behind from developers when in reality the only difference was the naming as you see here these are both running developer beta 3 and public beta 3 and you see that the new apple music icon is present here all the new features that we talked about if you haven't watched my coverage on some of the latest changes for ios 14 beta 3 links will be in the description for that but all the features and all the changes are exactly the same in terms of features from beta developer and public again the only difference back in the day was the naming scheme and apple has fixed that now both have pretty much the same naming scheme.
But of course one is developer beta three and one is public beta three but apple has sort of unified that and of course one is a paid $100 year subscription to get it early and one is a free for public beta testers and the days that you get the betas are a little different now from beta 1 to beta 2 there's usually about two weeks gap before we even see a public beta but after beta 2 for the most part we start seeing only a day or a day and a half of a gap difference. So apple released beta 3 for developers yesterday on july the 22nd in public beta the very next day right here on the 23rd so pretty much dates and the paying subscription is pretty much the difference here in terms of features everything is pretty much identical from public and developer beta hopefully that answers your question.
Thank you for watching today's video guys again public beta 3 is available right now and i'll see you real soon peacehey guys i know myself here welcome back to the channel today i wanted to answer a very popular question on my channel and that question is what is the difference between developer betas for ios and public betas for ios now by the way ios 14 public beta 3 has just been released today on july the 23rd which brings me to the first topic what is one of the major differences between the betas is release date schedules.
