different guys I've had cars come through here I already have made up my mind EVS that's the area where excitement is happening in the tech space this is kind of at the top of that list so far this is the Hummer EV and this has been an absolute boatload of fun I've been driving this around for a couple of days I wanted to get to know it a little bit and I do not want to give it back I am loving this vehicle I was skeptical I was like it's too big I can't where do I put it what do I do look how wide it is it drives smaller than some of my smaller trucks these rear tires actually turn quite a bit so you feel more Nimble you are smooth and floating on a cloud courtesy of the air suspension which we happen to have jacked up right now in its highest setting in terrain mode check out the ground clearance it is like a warthog from Halo and I think that this vehicle is significant and important in the EV space because Hummer used to be that badge associated with something not very Electric dinosaur juice excuse me sir is that a Hummer you're driving where's the gasoline and you say no no this is the electric one and then everybody who hadn't been paying attention to what was going on with EVS starts paying attention because of this imposing character behind me so why is this thing so much fun oh I don't know well you could start with the 37 inch tires that'll take you anywhere or the air suspension that I talked about prior or the fact that this looks like the Storm Troopers vehicle or the fact that the roof comes off or the fact that it's still a truck everybody has Nostalgia around the Hummer brand and of course it goes all the way back to military vehicles but then this elevates it to futuristic status especially when you recognize it's an EV and it's a performance EV this model doing 0 to 60 in three seconds it's ten thousand pounds doing 0-60 in three seconds I don't even miss the other performance electric cars I have plus I can carry stuff and I mean lots of stuff never mind the fact that there's a truck bed in the back let's talk about the trunk in the front and I have a motorized frunk and yes you may have been wondering about power there is 12 volt in here you're going to be able to power up your tools fridge whatever you can fit in here oh and there's also tie downs so whatever you do put in here doesn't move around and it has a giant gasket around the outside so it seals up you do put this down by hand so you just kind of grab it listen okay that last little part there squeeze it down keep the moisture keep the dust out good Lord everybody who approaches this vehicle is enamored by the substantial nature of these hooks that are on the front and the back we do have a nice little GMC badge in there of course there's sensors on the front as well when you add together the sensors as well as the camera system even though you have an enormous vehicle you can find places to put it and you don't panic too much on the front here these lights do all kinds of funky and cool things my favorite however is when the truck is charging this actually acts as a progress meter so you'll be able to see how much charge you have in relationship to full based on how far along the blue lights inside the headlights have made it you'll see an enormous skid plate on the front immense approach angle for off-roading that skid plate goes all the way from front to back protecting your battery that's in there and allowing you to approach some of the these dangerous exciting terrains this air suspension you can put your manual presets in depending on the circumstance you can also put it in normal mode and let it adjust as it pleases I'm going over train tracks and just driving around potholes and just regular life and the thing is smooth sailing the test we'd love to do is take it off-road in the future GM is going to send me a more extended loan right GM so then I can do all kinds of crazy and fun stuff with it as well look at this front grille now when it's lit up I mean it's a different level to it they have it going all the way across not just in the headlight regions triple wipers because it's so massive and because it's got that boxy look you actually end up with triple wipers it's kind of funny kind of cool Hummer EV logo so if they don't believe you that Hummers have gone electric you can just slap that badge right there and show them we have traditional beefy door handles and when you open them up couple of places to grab to get yourself in there military style frameless glass and you hang your arm over top typically a luxury feature but it gives a real convertible feel when you have your panels removed check out this little Easter egg this is of course where the Hummer is built in the United States I like the way they integrated the flag here as a design element and it just sort of fits in this section perfectly it's not overwhelming it's subtle but you know it's there we walk around to the back we find the charge port it's in a traditional kind of gas location this is like the simplest charging setup I've seen on an EV that I've had in studio flip this open and plug it in as if you were filling up with gas Hummer EV on the back another mini GMC and we have of course camera systems and we have the multi-function tailgate as well dual button brake light here couple of small grip points we can hit this and this and actually trigger the both of them this is going to be your step press down we're also going to have a stereo option on this unit when you're tailgating and such that's a copyright song probably copy written I like the way it turns on right away it gets the party going in a seamless fashion thank goodness for Bluetooth they're also giving you power here and lighting USB and AUX input if you want to use it this is a step this is especially helpful when you have this thing elevated since it's multi-function it does some different things for you so if I go back to regular tailgate scenario and then lift this up well now I can have some items that are stored inside kept from sliding out and the same thing goes if you're at the very top you can lower this portion of the tailgate have a little work surface or if you have something that's on an angle but it needs a little bit more space to extend then you can have the stop in this location anything about Dragon Ball Z but I know the two I know that the two of you love that thing hey hey wait a second wait a second so actually the reason that he came over here was he he wanted to tell me that there's 18 cameras on the outside of this vehicle 18 is that what you said and I said to him I never saw you like this before and that's the level of excitement you can get out of a guy like will if you roll up in a in a a ham review you understand see he's having trouble even fully walking away like he took a few steps because he's like he's talking to me he can't go too far you see that right there speaking of those 18 cameras let's just look at them right now because they're actually pretty amazing 360 around the vehicle back up as well but there's so many different views I mean you could tap the front end back end uh for backing up we can see out the side mirrors of you for trailering straight down at the bottom part of the tailgate again this is nice to have in some cars it it's even nicer to have in an enormous vehicle like this that doesn't feel as enormous as it is because of the camera system because of the incredible turning radius and because of the smoothness that comes with the electric implementation that's a horn my first time trying it that's wow one thing I like about this infotainment system obviously we have a really big screen here we have wireless Android auto we have wireless charging over here everything just boots up immediately when you get in the car Apple car plays there as well we have a double screen setup so the important information is here a little bit of nav obviously you have your range some time temperature and so forth plus the smart driving features with the adaptive cruise and everything that's in here you have the nice LED strip in the steering wheel voice control some of those adaptive smart features over here this thing basically will I mean practically drive itself on the highway you also have volume under the right hand side and the back side of the steering wheel and then you can skip tracks and so forth on the other side but then it's not all touch screen we've also got actual switches and there's some cool UI elements passenger puts on their heated seat clicks here now these buttons become activated this becomes three different capabilities underneath one switch maybe it's the cooled seat that you want but it's all underneath the seat switch one thing I like about this it doesn't overwhelm your main Dash so if I'm looking at a map or multimedia or something and the passenger wants to turn on the heated seat that's between them and their heated seat and has nothing to do with me and it's not distracting at all it's the power of switches and the same thing goes for if you just want to quickly turn up or turn down the fan it's right here you don't have to go into any menu system those animations yeah they're cool look how look at look when you go for the climate look at the font they've chosen futuristic plus you have really grippy texture across these switches so you're not going to miss them who wants to fiddle through a menu when you're freezing in a freezing climate in the middle of winter you just want to put your heated steering wheel on that's it you just want to hit the switch you don't want to be inside of a menu and certainly not if you're wearing gloves and who knows maybe you're crazy and you want to have the roof off in the winter it might be a winter convertible but then things get really magical when you reach for this dial which is your mode dial as I toggle through it we get all kinds of fun animations here you can set up your own custom mode click this switch here and I can adjust the responsiveness of the steering from normal to off-road terrain same thing for suspension and acceleration motor sound options normal is going to be your day-to-day there's a tow haul mode for when you're pulling notice what he's pulling here a rocket that's a Hummer EV pulling a rocket because that you might pull that yeah that's not bad normal mode you're already on the moon pole Hall you got a space shuttle going on uh terrain mode is the wildest you're fully off-road this is where you can manually adjust your suspension all the way up there's also off-road and then back to my mode I'll keep it in normal mode for now but this animation just makes you excited to drive everything in this interior has like a kind of utilitarian feel to it it's funny because my initial impression of it was wait is this a luxury vehicle or a utility vehicle what is the premise I began to appreciate the fact that these materials feel like they can get beat up they don't feel like you have to Baby them it's not about Alcantara it's about durability and materials that you don't even think about or worry about you also have a cover here for two large size cup holders you still have a gear selector obviously an homage to previous days beefy and feeling like it belongs there's a door there as well opens up to your wireless charger plus a little cubby type c and type a connector and more beefy air vents that you can quickly reach up and direct we open up the glove box super simple bin to keep some stuff in if you're not charging your phone you have a really natural place to put it here I'll pop this open huge storage capacity in here nice little tray for smaller items we have a light inside this box so we've also got a 12 volt to power things up that happened to live in there I have a very specific position I like to be in in trucks I like to feel like I'm kind of up over the road this seat gives you enough extension to get to that position that you want and sometimes the issue then becomes where's your eye line in relationship to the windshield but this is a perfect map for me and I think it'll work for most people but it does have plenty of adjustability on the seat including the headrest let's hop into the back seat now getting in is especially fun when the roof is off you don't even really have to bend at all check out the leg room that seat was in a position that I liked as a person who's six feet tall and look at me in the back like I am just swimming with room here I could be here for a extended periods of time without question we have our own climate controls plus a little display a little cubby to store things which is kind of non-slip so you can put a phone down there household AC type Port but we've also got type c and type a USB for charging up your devices these seats are the same material as elsewhere in the vehicle very robust all about durability we have storage compartments secret storage compartments in the seats so this is going to be useful for concealing any type of precious material or valuable material or just having some personal storage on a road trip so each kid can just kind of put their stuff in one spot pull down from the center and we have two more cup holders this is a pretty solid construction as well what if we want to maximize our carrying capacity in this back seat this is the double-sided lift up so with the seats up we're going to increase our cargo capacity quite substantially but the thing is now with EV trucks like this one since you're getting a frunk you might not even have to use this space nearly as frequently because you have nice sealed weatherproof storage in the front of the vehicle and it's right on the key fob in this case all right listen it's a truck it's still a truck you still have a bed we have our liner in here so we can throw things in beat it up and not worry about it a metal cover pretty solid thing it's motorized so it slides back you're seeing this on a lot of EVS now getting into it is made even easier because of the handle on the side which locks into place and that just gives you something to grip over here as you get up into the bed it has to be one of the easiest beds to get into because of that handle and of course because of the step we also have some hooks in here we have lights in the back here drain tubes for water buildup on top of the cover and we've also got powers also dogs love it and obviously Otis doesn't want Kovu to have all the fun but he prefers the front end he's more of a frunk guy foreign we're out here now we are floating right now the attributes of the vehicle they change with your drive modes substantially like you can feel the difference it's not just a fancy animation it's an actual adjustment to vehicle Dynamics in normal mode for everyday driving balances vehicle performance and range and will remain on at the next vehicle startup tow haul Towing heavy loads adjust throttle response to compensate for heavier load terrain is for tackling steep hills crawling over extreme obstacles rear steering rate is increased for extra maneuverability this is a really responsive mode so driving around with like the elevated suspension you're able to feel the articulation of each individual tire and then obviously off-road loose surfaces requiring extra traction grass mud gravel and deep snow Jesus Christ oh I'm nervous boys what to Freedom armed you can will needs to go Super Saiyan I don't know anything about Dragon Ball Z but I know the two I know that the two of you love that thing hey hey wait a second wait a second so actually the reason that he came over here was he he wanted to tell me that there's 18 cameras on the outside of this vehicle 18 is that what you said and I said to him I never saw you like this before and that's the level of excitement you can get out of a guy like will if you roll up in a in a a ham review you understand see he's having trouble even fully walking away like he took a few steps because he's like he's talking to me he can't go too far you see that right there speaking of those 18 cameras let's just look at them right now because they're actually pretty amazing 360 around the vehicle back up as well but there's so many different views I mean you could tap the front end back end uh for backing up we can see out the side mirrors of you for trailering straight down at the bottom part of the tailgate again this is nice to have in some cars it it's even nicer to have in an enormous vehicle like this that doesn't feel as enormous as it is because of the camera system because of the incredible turning radius and because of the smoothness that comes with the electric implementation that's a horn my first time trying it that's wow one thing I like about this infotainment system obviously we have a really big screen here we have wireless Android auto we have wireless charging over here everything just boots up immediately when you get in the car Apple car plays there as well we have a double screen setup so the important information is here a little bit of nav obviously you have your range some time temperature and so forth plus the smart driving features with the adaptive cruise and everything that's in here you have the nice LED strip in the steering wheel voice control some of those adaptive smart features over here this thing basically will I mean practically drive itself on the highway you also have volume under the right hand side and the back side of the steering wheel and then you can skip tracks and so forth on the other side but then it's not all touch screen we've also got actual switches and there's some cool UI elements passenger puts on their heated seat clicks here now these buttons become activated this becomes three different capabilities underneath one switch maybe it's the cooled seat that you want but it's all underneath the seat switch one thing I like about this it doesn't overwhelm your main Dash so if I'm looking at a map or multimedia or something and the passenger wants to turn on the heated seat that's between them and their heated seat and has nothing to do with me and it's not distracting at all it's the power of switches and the same thing goes for if you just want to quickly turn up or turn down the fan it's right here you don't have to go into any menu system those animations yeah they're cool look how look at look when you go for the climate look at the font they've chosen futuristic plus you have really grippy texture across these switches so you're not going to miss them who wants to fiddle through a menu when you're freezing in a freezing climate in the middle of winter you just want to put your heated steering wheel on that's it you just want to hit the switch you don't want to be inside of a menu and certainly not if you're wearing gloves and who knows maybe you're crazy and you want to have the roof off in the winter it might be a winter convertible but then things get really magical when you reach for this dial which is your mode dial as I toggle through it we get all kinds of fun animations here you can set up your own custom mode click this switch here and I can adjust the responsiveness of the steering from normal to off-road terrain same thing for suspension and acceleration motor sound options normal is going to be your day-to-day there's a tow haul mode for when you're pulling notice what he's pulling here a rocket that's a Hummer EV pulling a rocket because that you might pull that yeah that's not bad normal mode you're already on the moon pole Hall you got a space shuttle going on uh terrain mode is the wildest you're fully off-road this is where you can manually adjust your suspension all the way up there's also off-road and then back to my mode I'll keep it in normal mode for now but this animation just makes you excited to drive everything in this interior has like a kind of utilitarian feel to it it's funny because my initial impression of it was wait is this a luxury vehicle or a utility vehicle what is the premise I began to appreciate the fact that these materials feel like they can get beat up they don't feel like you have to Baby them it's not about Alcantara it's about durability and materials that you don't even think about or worry about you also have a cover here for two large size cup holders you still have a gear selector obviously an homage to previous days beefy and feeling like it belongs there's a door there as well opens up to your wireless charger plus a little cubby type c and type a connector and more beefy air vents that you can quickly reach up and direct we open up the glove box super simple bin to keep some stuff in if you're not charging your phone you have a really natural place to put it here I'll pop this open huge storage capacity in here nice little tray for smaller items we have a light inside this box so we've also got a 12 volt to power things up that happened to live in there I have a very specific position I like to be in in trucks I like to feel like I'm kind of up over the road this seat gives you enough extension to get to that position that you want and sometimes the issue then becomes where's your eye line in relationship to the windshield but this is a perfect map for me and I think it'll work for most people but it does have plenty of adjustability on the seat including the headrest let's hop into the back seat now getting in is especially fun when the roof is off you don't even really have to bend at all check out the leg room that seat was in a position that I liked as a person who's six feet tall and look at me in the back like I am just swimming with room here I could be here for a extended periods of time without question we have our own climate controls plus a little display a little cubby to store things which is kind of non-slip so you can put a phone down there household AC type Port but we've also got type c and type a USB for charging up your devices these seats are the same material as elsewhere in the vehicle very robust all about durability we have storage compartments secret storage compartments in the seats so this is going to be useful for concealing any type of precious material or valuable material or just having some personal storage on a road trip so each kid can just kind of put their stuff in one spot pull down from the center and we have two more cup holders this is a pretty solid construction as well what if we want to maximize our carrying capacity in this back seat this is the double-sided lift up so with the seats up we're going to increase our cargo capacity quite substantially but the thing is now with EV trucks like this one since you're getting a frunk you might not even have to use this space nearly as frequently because you have nice sealed weatherproof storage in the front of the vehicle and it's right on the key fob in this case all right listen it's a truck it's still a truck you still have a bed we have our liner in here so we can throw things in beat it up and not worry about it a metal cover pretty solid thing it's motorized so it slides back you're seeing this on a lot of EVS now getting into it is made even easier because of the handle on the side which locks into place and that just gives you something to grip over here as you get up into the bed it has to be one of the easiest beds to get into because of that handle and of course because of the step we also have some hooks in here we have lights in the back here drain tubes for water buildup on top of the cover and we've also got powers also dogs love it and obviously Otis doesn't want Kovu to have all the fun but he prefers the front end he's more of a frunk guy foreign we're out here now we are floating right now the attributes of the vehicle they change with your drive modes substantially like you can feel the difference it's not just a fancy animation it's an actual adjustment to vehicle Dynamics in normal mode for everyday driving balances vehicle performance and range and will remain on at the next vehicle startup tow haul Towing heavy loads adjust throttle response to compensate for heavier load terrain is for tackling steep hills crawling over extreme obstacles rear steering rate is increased for extra maneuverability this is a really responsive mode so driving around with like the elevated suspension you're able to feel the articulation of each individual tire and then obviously off-road loose surfaces requiring extra traction grass mud gravel and deep snow Jesus Christ oh I'm nervous boys what to Freedom armed you can see that the vehicle has completed its lowering process you have G-Force on the left hand side torque across the top and now it's telling me how hard to break before I launch it I got to get to there and then floor it that's pretty amazing the way that they've done this they've really turned it into it's like a game entertainment yeah absolutely look at this visual where are you are you on the moon what is this Star Wars scenario any last words boys oh my God I'm nervous I feel free baby it hits you in the chest the geez they hit you in the chest ah man there's something about that electric dump that is tough to replicate it's all at once without hesitation it just Nails you this thing adrenaline Wise It's on par with those other cars I realize if you look at the spec sheet it might not be exact but it does deserve the name Super Truck it's doing super things and when you consider the weight and what you are piloting the experience is completely on par with those other super electric cars holy boys seat vibrates when I'm gonna hit oh if I'm gonna hit the wall it it'll buzz you your butt in the direction of the obstruction no so you know if it's behind you know if it's to the right back right back left it's so big that it's considered a place not a vehicle but a place you could live in here couldn't you laughs now you could do like you could do like a weekend oh yeah van life Okay so I got the deal on the car wash but then he stepped things up further in an unexpected way in the form of cotton candy the cool one here is to put the camera on here as well it's an Ultimate Wash so we're getting all types of treatments here right well it's just some people think they need the whole racket they need the spinning brushes and things and there's a there's a point to that but if your car's not that dirty to begin with like this one yeah you really just need a rinse anyway yeah so don't touch my car make it a touch don't touch my car no leaks or anything that's good news I mean there were huge there's huge seals on here when you when you kind of clamp it in but they're super easy to remove as well so many colors I mean the best part hands down yeah easily it's not even close of the car wash experience this is another key part is managing the dryer at the very end so you have 80 Seconds roughly 85 maybe to work with at this particular Car Wash and you want to distribute that correctly across the entirety of your vehicle but of course you're in control because it's one location and you're sort of rolling through here trying to maximize your 80 Seconds of drying so you don't want to rush past the nose or the windshield but you also want to make sure you get the rear end involved so like at this point I'm 30 seconds in 50 remaining I gotta move ever so slightly but I still have a little bit too much water content up front now I'm kind of in this middle range somewhere above my own head I'm down to
