The Experience of Driving a High-Performance Car at a Track
As I stepped onto the track, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. The car was a beast, with a powerful turbocharged engine that seemed to come alive under my hands. The lag was minimal, and once I got into boost, the transient response was almost instantaneous - it was like switching on a light switch. This made me realize just how well-tuned the car's electronics were, and how much of an advantage this gave me in terms of overall performance.
One thing that stood out to me was the ease with which I could transition between gears. The ratios of the gearbox seemed perfectly suited to the car's power delivery, allowing me to shift seamlessly from one gear to the next without any hesitation or struggle. This made the driving experience feel incredibly smooth and responsive, almost as if the car was an extension of my own body. With this level of control and precision, I felt like I could push the car harder than ever before, and explore its full potential.
However, it's worth noting that the track itself presented some challenges. The surface was loose and uneven in places, which made it difficult to maintain traction and balance. Additionally, the track had a lot of sweeping turns, which meant that I needed to be careful not to overcook my lines and lose control of the car. This required a great deal of finesse and skill, as well as a deep understanding of the car's handling characteristics.
Despite these challenges, I was determined to make the most of my time on the track. I worked hard to master the subtleties of the car's behavior, learning how to use its unique strengths to overcome its weaknesses. This involved a lot of trial and error, as well as careful observation of the car's performance in different conditions. It wasn't always easy, but the sense of accomplishment that came from mastering each new challenge was incredibly rewarding.
One area where I think the car could be improved is in terms of its transient response during boost. While it was generally excellent, there were a few times when I felt like the turbo lag was still noticeable - particularly when starting from lower gears and accelerating quickly. To mitigate this issue, I experimented with different settings and adjustments to see if I could optimize the car's performance in these situations.
Overall, my experience of driving this high-performance car on the track was nothing short of exhilarating. The sense of power and speed that it delivered was incredible, and the way it seemed to come alive under my hands was truly remarkable. With its impressive capabilities and responsive handling, I felt like I could push it to its limits and explore its full potential - and that's exactly what I did.
The following day presented a new challenge, as I decided to put the car through its paces on a variety of different tracks. While this proved to be an incredible experience in its own right, it also highlighted just how well-tuned and responsive my skills had become. I found myself effortlessly navigating complex corners and braking zones, my reflexes honed to perfection by the constant need for precision and control.
One notable aspect of my performance on this day was my ability to navigate certain tracks with ease, despite having minimal experience of them beforehand. This told me that I've made significant progress in terms of my driving skills over the past few months and I'm starting to see more results from my efforts.
I also managed to complete a number of laps without any issues with the car overheating, which gave me confidence in my ability to manage it under pressure. The fact that I was able to get good lap times on tracks that were difficult for some drivers showed that the car and I have developed a strong relationship, allowing us to work together seamlessly.
Another benefit of this experience is the sense of camaraderie with fellow competitors. On many occasions, I met other competitors who were new to track driving and they were eager to learn from me or even try out my car for themselves. It's nice to be able to share knowledge and skills, especially since we all came together as a community. We have a shared passion for the sport and we're all there to support one another in our quest for speed and perfection.
After completing these laps, I realized that this track would make an excellent setting for my next video content - with its variety of corners, challenging braking points and the fast sweeping turns, it offers an ideal mix of excitement, skill-testing challenges and pure adrenaline rush.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enlook how cool it is in the garage all right I'll go to the track I'm dead two hours of sleep stop and got myself a little Macker as they call here oh there it goes no no I don't want to miss it come on there it is so we're about to come up on the famous Blue Lake of Mount Gambia I've heard it's not very blue today leave this cool little road am I gonna be able to see it Wow this is kind of cool oh we're coming up on the track I don't know how they were able to get this town to let them basically turn their Mountain Park Road into a drift track Oh actually do you know how fast this last night I guess they do hill climbs here and then Luke and tee hit them up and was like yo can we do drift vote and then now there's a drift event and I'm here with my car that's pretty much how goes wow this is so cool so this actually would be considered a proper Street event because this is a street course this is kind of the first like real street drift event I've ever done I'm pretty excited but the tracks kind of narrow and I'm worried that the car might not have enough power everyone says we'll be fine but it looks like it's gonna be dicey I don't have a GoPro mic so I think I'm just gonna double it unfortunately but I'll do my best Carphone really good I just kind of played it safe in second just to make sure that I wouldn't bang in a theron and then have some weird angle stuff happen second kind of kept my wheel speed down so I could play a safe run a very shallow line and know exactly kind of what's gonna happen good thing is stock you see you I'll be fine with limited I shouldn't have any rocker arm issues like buying an aftermarket hard cut car feels good though third year rip it's funny because of the external game because it sounds like my other car I think I'm the perception that it's faster than actually is do you know what I mean yeah yeah like if this were like you know the typical low grunt SR and it wasn't really loud or like do you have an external gate I mean I kill this thing slow let's make an older bride noise yes yeah I think I think I see what you're saying it's a little bit laggy when it like it doesn't hit super hard but I think once it's passed where it comes on if you keep it up there it's very responsive he had an electronic voice control and he was gonna jump on it but then he was like he's like realistically but what you said it's like you just own the east like I don't need that's scary Carrie I'm here with the man himself mr. Luke Fink yes what's going on boss so Luke's actually driving this what you drive this event right yeah just put the just change the front wheels because I got two bigger wheels on the front for cruising because we gotta look cool when I'm driving around so that car got driven all the way from Queensland the v35 to over 2,000 kilometers so why is it are called the v35 here instead of g35 no idea huh well it's a Japanese one got it so I guess in Japan they called me 30 Pop's got it so I've kind of talked a little bit about aesthetically how this car compares to mine but I haven't really been able to give an accurate comparison on how it performs yet I'll say suspension wise it feels just as good if not better than my car back home I don't think I was ever able to fully dial in the new gk tech stuff after i front of my car cuz I hadn't really driven it that much this car feels phenomenal so like suspension wise yeah OnPoint power definitely a bit less obviously stock bottom end it makes probably 100 or so less wheel I think it's more than enough for this track the only thing that I'm kind of struggling with right now is just a second a third shift with the stock SR gearbox sometimes are kind of like hit or miss some will be easy to shift to some aren't so other than that being a little bit tricky like it's super fun it sounds just like my car back home like it's super responsive what do you think when you drove it it was it was a touch laggy than I expected it to be but that's also how we asked them to tune it as well Cody left the boys to come apart in retrospect we probably could have let it come on a little bit more aggressively just because I kind of neglected the fact that it is a bigger turbo yeah I think my mindset was more so that we were putting a tiny turbo on and that's when you really have to be careful about hitting hard and banging rods and stuff but it's still super drive like I found it very drivable like I think like second or third like that I was snapping her in and for sure I mean the the lag like you notice a little bit if you were like maybe starting in third or starting in second for sure but once you're in boost the transient response of that turbo is like light switch there's no real time for it to spool back up FLC I'm definitely pump on it yeah like even when I first drove it like I went first second it was like didn't even give a hint of dropping out of boost like it's pretty mint from that point of view with the ratios yeah for sure so that is one thing that I think could make the car a little bit better as if it has a 401 and a right now going on for three would kind of make third a little bit more usable that's what other than that like the car sick it was gone it did suggest shut suggest that I remember yeah but you hadn't seen the track before so it's hard to tell yeah yeah you'd get into like a meaty third rather than I could just getting onto third then over wheel spinning yep essentially but yeah how your life in the track though jakszyk I'm still kind of like working my way commitment wise to stay in it over the crest yeah extremely commitment just because it you can't really see what's going on it's so fast like I'm worried about washing out because you the track is kind of loose like it's fast but like you kind of float a lot yeah so if you overcook it like it's sketchy yeah it's road surface for one so it's not a circuit it's like a bigger stone in the road so it doesn't have the grip levels but everywhere we are a big angle here yo you going over a crest so like I know when we run out comps here and the guys grip their cars up and when I say gripped up they're still restricted to a 235 Street tire but over that crest guys are lifting tires really yeah so it gets like you know pretty serious from that point if you stop him by a little electronic store in this tiny little town hopefully find a mic for my GoPro yeah I'll make some work I'm having so much fun in this I don't know if you guys will be able to tell from the footage but I'm starting to get pretty comfortable with it I figured out kind of like the way to not miss shift if you notice some of those steps I miss shifted before I'm basically like kind of short shifting and like taking a little bit time on the run up so I can get into third and make sure she's good car feels phenomenal powers more than enough if anything has too much grip I need to dial out a little bit of grip I keep airing up the tires but it's so fast compared to the other cars I know it's because the BC coilovers or the whole GK rear set up with the kind of aggressive tow that I have set up with it but um stick those tractors use tires so funny one thing I definitely need to make note of is how many laughs I've been able to do without the start even starting to get warm that's amazing that's like the whole tamai goal on a car like this my expectations are definitely blown away by this track I had so much fun of Australians are so nice to me massive thank you to Luke for putting all this together and get that car sorted it's been so fun today's video is kind of all over the place like most of my different videos are if you wanna see anything specific let me know because tomorrow is pretty much all just open kind of like a Matsuri just do whatever we want and then at the end there's kind of like 60 minutes to Bennett or something where like you just go crazy and you win a grand but that's usually like when people like hit the wall and stuff which I don't really want to do with my car but and then Sunday is a competition if you guys want to come out check my Instagram I have details on there's Mount Gambia I don't know how close that might be see you I know we're in South Australia so I had a blast I had so much fun I hope you guys like the footage I tried to play with a couple different angles but I do have that little thing that can like go with the wind that I could put on my roof tomorrow I wasn't able to get a mic so I'm just gonna have to dub over the audio unfortunately but I'm gonna order once I'll have one for the Tasmania vents but hope you guys like the contents probably the coolest tracks I've ever driven like a proper Street track super fast super snappy challenging tandem I haven't driven this much in a long time the car stayed cool it felt good I had a blast so I hope you guys liked this video I'll see you tomorrowlook how cool it is in the garage all right I'll go to the track I'm dead two hours of sleep stop and got myself a little Macker as they call here oh there it goes no no I don't want to miss it come on there it is so we're about to come up on the famous Blue Lake of Mount Gambia I've heard it's not very blue today leave this cool little road am I gonna be able to see it Wow this is kind of cool oh we're coming up on the track I don't know how they were able to get this town to let them basically turn their Mountain Park Road into a drift track Oh actually do you know how fast this last night I guess they do hill climbs here and then Luke and tee hit them up and was like yo can we do drift vote and then now there's a drift event and I'm here with my car that's pretty much how goes wow this is so cool so this actually would be considered a proper Street event because this is a street course this is kind of the first like real street drift event I've ever done I'm pretty excited but the tracks kind of narrow and I'm worried that the car might not have enough power everyone says we'll be fine but it looks like it's gonna be dicey I don't have a GoPro mic so I think I'm just gonna double it unfortunately but I'll do my best Carphone really good I just kind of played it safe in second just to make sure that I wouldn't bang in a theron and then have some weird angle stuff happen second kind of kept my wheel speed down so I could play a safe run a very shallow line and know exactly kind of what's gonna happen good thing is stock you see you I'll be fine with limited I shouldn't have any rocker arm issues like buying an aftermarket hard cut car feels good though third year rip it's funny because of the external game because it sounds like my other car I think I'm the perception that it's faster than actually is do you know what I mean yeah yeah like if this were like you know the typical low grunt SR and it wasn't really loud or like do you have an external gate I mean I kill this thing slow let's make an older bride noise yes yeah I think I think I see what you're saying it's a little bit laggy when it like it doesn't hit super hard but I think once it's passed where it comes on if you keep it up there it's very responsive he had an electronic voice control and he was gonna jump on it but then he was like he's like realistically but what you said it's like you just own the east like I don't need that's scary Carrie I'm here with the man himself mr.
