What's Up Guys: A Deep Dive into iOS 11.4.1 Beta 1
Hey guys, it's Brandon here and I've got some news that's going to surprise you - Apple just dropped the latest beta of iOS 11.4.1, just one day after releasing the final public version of iOS 11.4. Let's take a closer look at this firmware and see what new features or changes we can spot.
As we can see from the update, it came in at build number 15G5-504C on my iPhone 8 Plus. This build number is quite long, but that's not surprising given that we're dealing with a point release like iOS 11.4.1. The update comes from the GM (General) build of iOS 11.4, and as we all know, the size of this update can vary depending on which version you're running it on and which device you're using. So, if you're wondering how to check your build number, go to Settings > General > About, and you'll see that number appear.
Now, I have to say, I'm a bit surprised that we even got a beta phase for this point release like iOS 11.4.1. You see, point releases are usually just bug fixes and minor tweaks, so it's not exactly what you'd expect from an Apple update. And yet, here we are, with a beta cycle that seemed to come out of nowhere. I'm actually really surprised that we even made it this far with a beta phase, considering how unexpected the whole thing was. Of course, there might be another beta released after this one, but for now, let's focus on what we can spot in terms of new features or changes.
One notable change is the return of the Feedback Application. Yes, you heard that right - it's back! I'm not sure why Apple decided to bring this feature back, as it was already available in iOS 11.3 and earlier, but there you have it. So, if you're interested in testing out this feature, go ahead and give it a shot.
Moving on to the new bug that I wanted to point out. If we scroll down to Notifications > FaceTime Banners and try to toggle them on or off, you'll notice that the Settings app crashes. Now, I know what you're thinking - "Brandon, why is this still happening?" Well, it's just a minor issue, but one that Apple might want to address in future updates.
As for performance, it feels pretty much the same as iOS 11.4 right now. Some people have reported that eleven point four point one feels slightly smoother and has quicker animations, but I'm not entirely convinced by these claims yet. It's still too early to tell, and we need more data before we can say for sure whether this update is making a real difference.
So, why is Apple putting out a beta like iOS 11.4.1? Well, one reason might be that they're trying to identify any remaining bugs or issues with the feature set. You see, point releases are usually just bug fixes and minor tweaks, but sometimes there can be more complex problems lurking beneath the surface. By releasing this update as a beta, Apple might be able to catch those issues before they become major problems down the line.
Of course, another reason for the beta release is that it gives Apple's development team an opportunity to test out some new features or changes without affecting the final public version of iOS 11.4. It's not uncommon for Apple to hold back certain features or updates until they're ready for prime time, and this beta might be just one way for them to do so.
Whatever the reason, we can expect more information about iOS 11.4.1 as we get closer to its official release. For now, though, it seems like this update is mostly all about bug fixes and minor enhancements. If you're curious about what's new in this version of iOS, go ahead and check out the beta yourself - just be sure to backup your device first!

That's it for now, folks. As always, thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next video!
