The Art of Custom Car Building: A Behind-the-Scenes Look

As we step into the world of custom car building, it's clear that every detail is meticulously planned and executed with precision. In this article, we'll take you on a journey behind the scenes of one such project, where passion, creativity, and attention to detail come together to create a truly unique vehicle.

The Project Begins

It all started when Michael approached his friend Mike about building a custom car. The goal was to create a street-legal vehicle that looked like a race car, with a focus on functionality and style. Michael wanted to stay true to his vision, so he entrusted Mike with the project. As they began working on the car, it became clear that every component would be custom-made to fit the design.

Measuring Up

As the build process progressed, Mike took precise measurements to ensure everything was aligned perfectly. He double-checked the dimensions of the diffuser and brackets to make sure they would bolt together seamlessly. This attention to detail paid off when he finally fitted the rear diffuser into place. The result was a smooth, flush finish that added to the car's sleek appearance.

Powder Coating Perfection

With the main components in place, it was time for the powder coating process. Mike had designed custom brackets to hold the rear diffuser in position, and he was excited to see them come together. The team worked tirelessly to get everything perfect, with each step meticulously measured and executed. As they applied the powder coat, the car began to take shape, its components blending seamlessly into a cohesive whole.

The Final Reveal

As the build neared completion, the team took a step back to admire their handiwork. The front end was particularly striking, with its bold blue tape and sleek design elements. Michael couldn't wait to see how everything would look when the car was finished. The team worked diligently to complete the powder coating process, adding a final coat of protection to the vehicle's components.

A Look at the Final Product

When the diffusers were finally blacked out, the uprates matched, and the tail lights were in place, it was clear that something special had been created. The car looked cleaner and sleeker than ever before, with its bold design elements standing out from the crowd. As we take a closer look at the final product, it's easy to see why this car is truly one of a kind.

The Surprises Ahead

Mike revealed that he had planned some surprises for the finished car, but he didn't want to spoil the reveal just yet. With the diffusers blacked out and the uprates matching, it was clear that there was more to come. As we wait with bated breath for the next step in the build process, one thing is certain – this car is going to be truly breathtaking.

The Power of Community

As Michael and his team worked on this project, they knew that they were part of a larger community of enthusiasts who shared their passion for custom cars. From sharing tips and tricks to collaborating on builds, the online forums and social media groups provided invaluable support and inspiration. By joining forces with like-minded individuals, they were able to create something truly remarkable.

The Joy of Creation

For Michael and his team, this project was more than just a car – it was an opportunity to express their creativity and bring their vision to life. From the initial design phase to the final reveal, every step was driven by a desire to push the boundaries of what's possible in custom car building. As they look back on the build process, they can't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.

A Final Message

As we wrap up this behind-the-scenes look at the custom car build, it's clear that passion, creativity, and attention to detail are the keys to success. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enall right guys welcome back as you know we're working on Damon's merci Lago this is his dream merci Lago GT1 build as you guys have probably seen already we have the wing mounted we also have to make the front splitter dive planes louvers in the front fenders I got a lot of work and I need to get it done today I want to tackle the dive planes front louvers on the fender first cuz that's going to take the most time probably 6 or eight hours just in those two I'm going to try to knock them out five or six so this is front splitter material from APR performance I've said you know what just send me the material and I'll cut it out myself obviously that is more time and work for me here but it'll allow me to get it exactly the way that Damon envisioned it we're going to mock this up I'm going to clamp this onto the car drop the car down I've got the two carts Center here that are going to hold it in place and then I'll put some tape on here draw some lines get that design going main reason I got this going right now is for the dive planes so I want the dive planes and the front splitter to line up perfectly so I'm going to give it about 3 in of splitter extension on the front and then it's going to taper in to about an inch inch and a half out in this corner once I get that done then I can do the front dive plane and make them so they're both exactly parallel straight up and down I don't want these dive planes to stick out farther I want it to have that really clean look where this shape and the dive planes are identical so I got everything taped off that I wanted to just cut a piece of 2x4 so I've got a flat Edge run against the car here and I cut a little V groove in there to just hold my pen in place start tracing it across now that I've got that front designed I'm going to figure out how much I want toh come off of here pick a straight line and kind of figuring out what looks best 3 in is a pretty standard front splitter length this section here is going to be more about the visual the way it looks it'll have some angle to it kind of like a kick up kick the air up above the tires I think it's going to look really good I just want to make sure that I get this right this shape here is going to dictate what this dive plane looks like all right so I can't find the regular cardboard chipboard that I use for this kind of stuff but I found like a file folder for uh one of those cabinets kind of stiff it's flexible enough trim this thing up put it on a car make it cool shape and cut out of aluminum a lot of times you don't need anything crazy like literally piece of cardboard scissors some tape if I didn't have a plasma table I could literally cut all this out with a jigsaw if you guys are like wanting to get started on fabrication the biggest thing is just do it just get started cuz even if you have all the best tools in the world if you don't know how to use them they're not going to do you any good so kind of figure out how to build stuff and then apply it to like Cool Tools like the plasma cutter and CAD design and all that kind of stuff just get your hands dirty and get into it overall that's that's kind of the idea Daman didn't want anything really big on the factory race car they didn't even have dive planes so we're just going to add a little more to the front end get it looking a little more aggressive once these are done um then I'm going pop these grills out and start designing the grill that I'm going to make that's going to hold the fog lights cuz those are going to be made out of aluminum those going to have to get powder coat as well these aren't something that are going to get damaged really easily so I'm just going to cut them out by hand trace the uh pattern on here cut it with a band saw this Edge is actually the one that wraps onto the bumper bumper has that curve to it this is pretty rough this is going to need to get adjusted sand it down a bit cut it out kind of roll it into shape and sand that edge to get it to fit the car properly all right so this is looking pretty good I'm just going to put some tape on here to hold them onto the car so I can step back and get a better look at it looks pretty good it's aggressive but not like insane looking which I think fits this car this car is really a mix between a lot of sharp lines with a bit of like rounded edges next step is Trace that shape and turn that piece into a another piece of aluminum so that dive plane can go on this will go on a little strip on the bottom that can rib it onto the car and then once I get those both done weld that up sand it all down those will be finished we move on to the next thing now that I have this shape I'm going to rcri this line here measure out some holes and then I'll take this piece and make another one identical to it for the other side same with this make an identical one weld them up and get ready to Bol them on the CL no turning back now the glow in a lock turning back now no sun mat that looks pretty good that was just about done I welded these these two pieces together sand of that edge down so you don't see the weld make it look like one piece got all those holes mocked up C goes in place I'll just finish drilling the rest of the holes I'm not going to actually put any rivets in it to hold it in place right now because obviously we're just going to pull it right off soon as everything's done to get it powder coated so we'll just use the cleos to hold it in place while we mock everything up I'm happy with that it's looking pretty good car is looking way more aggressive already we got to do the grills the grills are obviously going to take a bit of time you know there's some shape to them corners and we have to turn this into a piece of aluminum with a hole for a fog light make like a border then I put a stainless mesh screen on the back side of it so it'll look really clean and finished but uh obviously Perfection takes time no match what do you think Tim dude that looks sick what the heck yeah that's awesome I can't wait for the splitter to Su just be by itself these look good thank you I think they look good I think they're they fit the car well yeah I think they fit the car really good actually especially from the front yeah it looks it looks like really aggressive but not like overly that's awesome clean all right so these are the fog lights that we got for this car I'm going to try to put them in where they were on the race car which is right around in this area kind of underneath the headlight that leaves all this open even if we left all this open and put the fog light in the middle this would still get a lot of air but I think for the look we're going for we're try to get it over here but I'll see if I can do that without it sticking out too far it might actually even look better to have that panel fit you know kind of close to all this to look a bit more aggressive I got a cardboard template that I cut out that fit into the grill opening got that all dialed in I took a picture of this put it into the CAD software turned it into this part right here fog lights is going to go in that Center there that's going to give me room to uh bolt these guys down and have some room for adjustment this way and left and right send over the plasma table cut one out see if it fits without this machine how long would it taken you make this right here would have taken probably 8 hours just to make the pair of these grills cutting it out by hand sketching it out onto a piece of metal and measuring in between every hole to get the spacing right cutting out the inside with like a a jigsaw and then filing and sanding oh man this is so much work this is like it's cheating really looks good huge progress so far today thank you Mike no no no no no so Mike Mike was alone most day now we're back and now he's distracted here's the thing this car does need to get done today cuz all these parts need to go to powder coating and right now it takes what 4 days and transports here next week so if we get it right it'll it'll just work out in time otherwise if it doesn't then Dam has to take a different car and he'll be very disappointed I have some big news I talk to our friends at al13 who love it when I come up with a random car project that I'm going to do last minute and I asked them what the lead times are on Wheels and they're like weeks Damon and I'm like cool I have 5 days days to make a brand new set of rims how do we do this pulled a few strings for us and they will be making a brand new set of wheels for the Zago ddlm project now that's cool the real question is though what style of wheel do we put on this car clearly something Chrome with spinners yeah fair enough or wires but no seriously it's going to be Motorsport inspired but it really comes down to what do they have already designed the good news is I've had a few wheels that I really love pre-designed that I think could potentially look good on here and one of those wheels are the wheels that we just recently put on the Senna now a five-spoke wheel that's nice and clean would look good on the mercial logo it really though comes down to the offset on the front wheel the back wheel's going to look killer but if it's too flat because of this offset end up with a really flat face and then you end up with concave on the back and then it looks a little weird the other version would be something that's obviously multispoke and if you come with me this way in the other room we have a car that is back not fixed but back and that is the SVG these wheels being that it looks good on the svj and the mercio logo has that Lamborghini overall shape and design we could go with this multispoke style wheel on the mercio logo old mercio race car some of them had this exact style of wheel on it we could go with this or we go with this or we go with something else that al13 already has designed however I can't make up anything new I would love to know what you guys think should we go five spoke or should we go with the multi-spoke like on the svj or do we go with something completely different if that was the case you would have to go to al13 give them a follow for all the wheels they've made for our cars and look at their designs and then let me know the actual model number most of the time they listed in their postings on Instagram please comment below I have to pick a wheel design right away so it's imperative you guys make your choices oh that's a good sign we're removing the factory pre- LP tail lights there's a new gal right there I like it looks cool those were $110,000 so please be very very no Stephen you can't buy a forgery off your uncle for okay you can to have my car oh yes yes yes yes the same wheel as on the SJ yes yes and that's the race car look what do you guys say do you like it yeah I do like it what do you think Stephen that looks good shut your mouth okay Dam we need to test these please go push a break put it in reverse now go push a brake pedal that's never going to get done in time we're already behind did it work no nothing so far is it working no but both sides aren't working wait wait do it again what happened wait press the brake pedal nothing nothing oh maybe it's we're missing the ground hold on oh guys it's all about suspense funny how Steven was certified in his application for getting a job here but is no longer certified this is getting heavy okay try wait there's two hold you two y it's working oh hell yeah wao no don't show him don't show him he doesn't get the benefit of seeing this does the other one work put it in reverse put it in reverse wait don't he's not starting it okay it's in Reverse oh it's red that's cool that's cool oh that's cool what's it do no you no don't tell him don't tell him no what do you mean don't tell him you'll see it when you watch the Vlog no no no no iug it I plug it I plug it I plug it oh so sick that's sick it's cool stop it stop it by the way these were $10,000 I just hold them came out of Dave salary right out of it oh okay down to the Brass tax we need to get the rear diffuser mounted the tail lights mounted this is done which looks amazing the front end get the fog light mounts mounted we have to rewire the tail lights no actually the plug in no no no no it flashes too fast it flashes too fast as an indicator that bulbs burnt out no there's no bulbs in here they're LED you got to rewire it a signal comes from an ECU somewhere in the car to manage the pulse of the light not the tail light itself now the question I have for you is what if the car doesn't get done what would you take I would take the oh yeah that's a problem yeah how are we going to mount this oh wait don't know it's bigger no no no no you don't know that it's bigger which headlights did you order these for are you sure it's for the right car they actually don't fit that doesn't make any sense well that's the same oh it's it's not cuz look at the Gap here and the Gap here have to cut this out then probably sucks actually I jokes I never thought that up actually wouldn't line up yeah it didn't make either but uh they mentioned it when I bought it oh speaking of lighting though we have a rain light rain light sexy installed got a little bracket on there well it sounds like brackets will be in your future the next little bit because that has to go what it doesn't fit oh man yeah it's a big deal H and then what holds them in place after that maybe these yeah but to what there's nothing there so now we need to build a whole in structure yeah it's a lot of extra work it's interesting isn't it I have to cut this whole section out of there it's plug and play as far as the wiring goes huh yep actually is isn't that weird Jokes Aside we did not expect this at all this is actually a huge setback they told me but I forgot to mention it you joking right now I mentioned it to Tim Tim why do you hate m c we call a punk no I did not hate to be that guy but it's 1:30 and this has to Cur be done by the end of the day so maybe we'll do a little bit of a late night sleepover the ddhq to get it done we're all hands on deic this done so what has to happen right now we need a jig sock okay I want take Dumb and Dumber and Chris and let's get a jigs sace all right guys we're going to Home Depot to get a jigs sace we can finish the beautiful mercio we're taking the minivan we're not going to crash the minivan the mini why is that funny um don't we don't do that anymore we yeah dude if you think about it like seriously watching R home seriously you stop and think about it that day we all crashed a minivan I was sick I wasn't here all right here we go here we go by the way that's what it looked like D's not going to be happy he actually loves this D we actually had a team meeting for the van we're not going to beat on it it's going to be a company asset that we respect find D hey so just a jigsaw anything else blades blades got it oh yeah just chicka and Blades chicksa blades got it got it got are you sure you just want J on blad you know what we also need couple more trash cans okay got it got it got it got it little tight there we're a little tight there okay let's go get out of here what what is happening hey not in the new vanent we talked about this I deserve that your biggest fan right here that's not my dad speaking of your dad though I say I'm his biggest fan why is my dad on your phone grab it let's go you got it grab it Tim we have to rush all right Tim yeah ready to go we got your jsaw and your blades you're good to go that was an amazing catch he's so hard on you sometimes you can get payback okay we're back at the shop we the tools we need and uh the friendships we don't where is Mike Essa are you sure it's the right one yeah pretty sure that's what he said at least how do we not have that basic tool here we don't use this that often hey Mike we got the jiga I hope we got the right one we just squeezed past your uh your parking oh my bad dude I'm so bad with proximity can you make sure you got the right tool cuz it was crazy in there looks good look like it'll work and then they didn't have a Cutters for carbon fiber so we got wood and metal yep perfect so this for the front diffuser for the front splitter and to cut the uh Factory deck lid which is carbon fiber so we got to cut the SP is it carbon fiber I didn't know that yeah when I uh just drilled through it saw carbon fiber shavings coming out of it how crazy this is carbon fiber and you Dred into it yeah now we're going to cut it up what are you doing I'm figuring out the functions of it it has you don't need to worry about it it's on you're not cutting it what Mike's cutting it right no Tim's cutting I got too much to do you're cutting this I'm cutting it you're cutting the splitter yeah I'll cut it bro how would I cut it I I could do it I could have have a steady hand wait you used to work with carbon you got it yeah 25 years ago actually 27 years ago oh that's how old I am what a piece of wow wow you're lucky my wife sent you your paycheck walk us through all the tape I don't understand what all the tape's for this extra tape is to cover up that other line that uh is not correct as I was drawing it I realized that the edge had shifted back slightly yeah so the whole thing was a little off so I straightened it all out and redrew this side but that's why it's got the uh the the two lines why don't you just tell Tim to go on the inside line I I will but I want to give him a little bit of a help there too just just to make sure he gets it right cuz we got one sheet so no mistakes this is like carbon fiber but M&M style you have one shot what are you going to do with it Tim had a mom spaghetti for lunch so he did have hey did have M spaghetti for lunch settle down I'm beyond nervous right now go ahead lots of confidence hold on hold on I got to put clamps yeah cuz otherwise you're going to be flopping all over the place all right you ready you guys ready rough cut rough cut hey how are you welcome back to the Vlog thanks for coming big things happening like physically large things happening on the building we a brand new sponsor which I'll tell you later in the video video part of our sponsorship deal is branding on the building a really cool logo and the boys at PFS doing the big vinyl on the other side of the building and also somewhere on the inside so in the meantime all you get to know is it's Nationwide back to the front of the car here and Mikel is making this really cool custom bracket piece for the front fog lights you know where it sits in the opening it's tilted and it's also Twisted this way so we've got to have some tilt for the lights to point the right direction and also so they're pointing level and then I got to slot the holes and give it a little bit of adjustability the hole the stop it D getting these brackets the right length getting all sorted and hopefully you know in a couple hours be will be on the car hopefully it's crazy it hurts my brain watching him make all this stuff and what do we have up over here toothpaste fixing the stock tail light did you actually break it it did no I didn't break it little things Damon found out oh my God going to tell don't tell me hey Damon Stephen cracked your tail light and trying to fix it without you KN right now the pocket yeah I got but you're not supposed to know oh the slow walk hold on I got the walk hey what did you break on my ta light look at this what the hell what the hell stepen nice dude fryer yo sick that's really cool I'm glad you thought about the angle I see what you mean now it's like down and twist it in yeah I've seen nipples like that before let's go this way I'm going the wrong way it's down and then it's like this Edge is actually yeah it's all tapered back down here y sick this is a you know totally eyeball alignment here but it looks pretty good well later on when it's on the ground we turn the lights on we put up against a wall we can level it up let see how crooked it is that's right Dave when he does the eye thing are you it's like Mario and Luigi over here just working on the Italian car with the files I feel like there's a faster way Mike's is having a bit of fun right now you got to earn it actually pry nice down here cuz it's cool the conrete is cold the building's warm yeah doing good doing all right how you doing just get the Ang funny is that we could just put this in the air but instead st's tight yeah 38 ready for the freeway ready for the Auto Bond no what no no no you sure no no mhm yep you know who's really going to appreciate this this anybody who really likes the period correct style of creating modifications to a car of a certain time era you know what I mean like this is a 2003 really built in 2002 when you look at this you're like well this is really our character everything's made out of carbon of the fibers now like you know the 720 GTR yeah the 720 GTR is not from 2003 this is how they build stuff for the race car aluminum yeah you would take a Lamborghini and you would make homemade uprights and basically a diffuser Y which is like why he bang this out like an afternoon he also knows what he's doing so he makes it look really easy but done it once and before uh yeah bro it's simple but it makes it look so aggressive now trust us when this is black and these are black we have everything dialed in and the new tail lights are in and the rain lights in it'll all come together yeah I mean it's already it's starting to look really crazy I mean going from that really like kind of soft like first gen Mercy look where it's not super aggressive like it's a really cool shape it's kind of soft yeah not that that's not stop why is it hard hey Ryan back for more punishment back how are you I'm all right all right good talk you know part of getting this building was to make it more of a community feel and that's why we always have friends coming by their super cars and just hang hanging out and we want to do more we want to get the shop basically built up the truth is it comes down to this we don't have time right now and the money we do have is going towards more important things but eventually we will do a lot of stuff in the building we're spread very thin right now we are hiring we're looking for an administrative assistant some going to come in here and help manage the day-to-day operations of the building as well some things with the business replying to emails dealing with careers dealing with all the utilities and maintenance of the building so if you are that person that has experience experience managing a business administrative office work you know kind of Jack of all trades but professional send me an email Dave dailydriven exoticscon you have to live here we're not relocating anybody you have to live here you have to EXP experience minimum 5 years in managing a business Operations Logistics things like that no it's it's crazy cuz it's it's a little bit of exoticness with a little bit of JDM you would drive around with these fog lights all day wish you wish you had Mya don't you I know I need to buy one I I can't afford one some things can't be bought he's leas that's right 24 months left in that leas what a huge doing with that I'm cutting a hole in the mercy don't worry I'll clean it up oh my God you did that's a carbon body bro I know so you cut a hole there and there to mount the diffuser yeah we're going to make the uprights off the chassis so it'll actually be chassis mounted I'll clean it up don't worry no going back just no going back from this oh we're getting a mesh dude this is moving so quickly I have multiple people on this right now Mike St the ship well Tim's over there chopping up the bumper I saw that and uh once that's done I can design the brackets that are going to hold the diffuser in place yeah I'm trying to get these front grills done coming along I think they're looking really good everyone's so busy right now it's crazy we're all working together to get this done yeah exactly it's teamwork it makes a DreamWork bam dude it looks so good it actually matches the svj which is pretty ironic the colors and right now we're installing the same decal in the other room over the svj now this is one of our major sponsors for 202 for helped us in so many ways here at the Block to build all the cars to pay for our rent and really just grow the channel you're wondering what Auto allies is it's actually phenomenal and it hit me up the thought this is the smartest thing ever come across our desk as you may know sometimes we get speeding tickets and sometimes we didn't deserve them and most people don't know what their options are they think well I got ticket I got to pay it or call a lawyer it's going to cost me 3 four5 $600,000 whatever the fees are aut of my makes it really easy because you pay a flat rate $28 a month and if you get a ticket you upload in the app and they cover your attorney Fe again $28 a month you get a ticket no stress you now get to fight back take control and be in power versus in the past you thought well can't afford a lawyer so you took the ticket now you have points your insurance goes up maybe you lost your license Auto allies hasard back Link in description we'll get more to details later on how it all works but for now you know what a ticket is you know what a lawyer is you really should be signning for auto allies come on dude it's looking pretty good looking pretty good now remember it's to get powder black but like T hook which aner logo you need you yeah right yeah and then all this like looking really good and Tim's just destroying that back bumper right now just chopping it up man chopping it up Tim gives no really doesn't Tim actually looks really good on the white the best part is our best friends at Auto allies can help you too had big tickets you paid lawyer fees haven't you oh yeah how much have you paid in legal fees for a ticket before what's your worst number 5,000 I just paid three because I missed the auto allies membership remember Auto allies $28 a month and you're protected you get ticket put in the app or takes care of it Link in description everyone Wasing should have Auto allies it makes sense 100% holy sh a little slower there buddy I bet say these are bright too dude this looks so cool yeah looks like this had so much like to tie in those and the splitter looks dope nice job cutting that yeah it was uh you know it was very a lot of time Tim good job I know you cut it job cutting that hey hold on carbon dust on your hands and in my lungs this is just what your hands look like biard when you're working on when you're working on cars like your hands look like when you're a man that's who's softer actually I'm softer than you don't feel my right hand your calluses though yeah that's oh this sound softer too from the I overdid it oh you're a too I thought you work for a living what are you talking about these are fine hands all joking aside this is really cool yeah the blue interior and whatnot I'm happy for you man you deserve a nice car finally I'm pumped that we put some blue on the front quarters and the blue splitter really ties it all in actually it does it's actually like a pretty close mat it's actually pretty damn close all right Michael so we're going to mount a diffuser the tape off splitter really are you going to you want to I don't know is it done no look what it takes just take a second admire the level of Mike's going until you get this perfect all the measurements I'm admiring Michael's work here it's looking cool bye Mike bye enjoy your weekend okay see you guys later you know internal employee theft is a big problem in America that's why important you keep pay attention to your employees oh might expect a diffuser home with them second your pocket Tim second your Pock Tim what's this what's this Tim that's my phone Tim Mike is burning the midnight oil here to finish this project so we get it to powder so I drew up a couple uh brackets here uh turned into that damn and what are these brackets for uh these will hold the rear diffuser oh you're getting this done now Jesus oh yeah no cuz he's got to get pwder coated too so that'll bolt to the chassis that'll go through the hole that Tim cut this will get bent and then these four holes will bolt to the diffuser itself and it should hold it exactly in the right spot where we want it cut it out on the plasma bolt it up this is D un pump this is why we have this facility and all these awesome dudes like this 3 years ago this would taken us a year to build yeah so I want this to be fixed I want to stay in the position we set it it's it's not a race car where we're going to be trying to change it burn well it's not it's not take that shirt off because well you know some cars are race cars this is a street car that looks like a race car so Dave I don't want rattles I wanted to stay where I said it home stretch Mike made these brackets to mount the rear diffuser get it on here and then basically all the Fab work's done and the rest can get to powder coating and then to put the pressure on them to get it done but I think you know it's looking good looking real nice like every's working really hard today I mean I love these things oh they're so handy for this stuff they have a funny name too right c c c all the person who invented them okay everything is on the car now now again it's on a final reveal let go to powder coat there other work to be done but the main components are done we did this very fast just in a few days this is really cool it makes me excited for to come with other cars so right now smash the Subscribe button join the family it's free ready Ryan I'm ready this is your protection yeah it's not going to help you man oh yeah come on baby here it comes dude what a transformation bro the front end is my absolute favorite dude I love it the fres i f the front looks so good it looks so sick well what's crazy is it's still got the blue tape on there this hole has to be sent off the powder coat to be turned black there's a few other surprises coming so the next time you see this car it's really going to blow your freaking mind dude it looks good it looks you it good I love it this was a fun project for you it was fun I love doing this kind of stuff cuz you get that transformation right you get to build your own kind of race car and man turn around look at the back look at the back oh oh my God bro that is insane damn and again like this is not the finished product so once the diffusers all black the uprates are black the tail lights are in the center grills back together everything's back together it's got the rain light it's going to really come together but we wanted to show you guys the builds right like the process this is the process so the next time you see this car it's going to be complete oh it'll be more than complete I have some other surprises I didn't want to ruin it and just show you guys everything it has to be like a big transformation I really like this look right now it's so like clean and Sleek looking you guys killed it you guys killed itall right guys welcome back as you know we're working on Damon's merci Lago this is his dream merci Lago GT1 build as you guys have probably seen already we have the wing mounted we also have to make the front splitter dive planes louvers in the front fenders I got a lot of work and I need to get it done today I want to tackle the dive planes front louvers on the fender first cuz that's going to take the most time probably 6 or eight hours just in those two I'm going to try to knock them out five or six so this is front splitter material from APR performance I've said you know what just send me the material and I'll cut it out myself obviously that is more time and work for me here but it'll allow me to get it exactly the way that Damon envisioned it we're going to mock this up I'm going to clamp this onto the car drop the car down I've got the two carts Center here that are going to hold it in place and then I'll put some tape on here draw some lines get that design going main reason I got this going right now is for the dive planes so I want the dive planes and the front splitter to line up perfectly so I'm going to give it about 3 in of splitter extension on the front and then it's going to taper in to about an inch inch and a half out in this corner once I get that done then I can do the front dive plane and make them so they're both exactly parallel straight up and down I don't want these dive planes to stick out farther I want it to have that really clean look where this shape and the dive planes are identical so I got everything taped off that I wanted to just cut a piece of 2x4 so I've got a flat Edge run against the car here and I cut a little V groove in there to just hold my pen in place start tracing it across now that I've got that front designed I'm going to figure out how much I want toh come off of here pick a straight line and kind of figuring out what looks best 3 in is a pretty standard front splitter length this section here is going to be more about the visual the way it looks it'll have some angle to it kind of like a kick up kick the air up above the tires I think it's going to look really good I just want to make sure that I get this right this shape here is going to dictate what this dive plane looks like all right so I can't find the regular cardboard chipboard that I use for this kind of stuff but I found like a file folder for uh one of those cabinets kind of stiff it's flexible enough trim this thing up put it on a car make it cool shape and cut out of aluminum a lot of times you don't need anything crazy like literally piece of cardboard scissors some tape if I didn't have a plasma table I could literally cut all this out with a jigsaw if you guys are like wanting to get started on fabrication the biggest thing is just do it just get started cuz even if you have all the best tools in the world if you don't know how to use them they're not going to do you any good so kind of figure out how to build stuff and then apply it to like Cool Tools like the plasma cutter and CAD design and all that kind of stuff just get your hands dirty and get into it overall that's that's kind of the idea Daman didn't want anything really big on the factory race car they didn't even have dive planes so we're just going to add a little more to the front end get it looking a little more aggressive once these are done um then I'm going pop these grills out and start designing the grill that I'm going to make that's going to hold the fog lights cuz those are going to be made out of aluminum those going to have to get powder coat as well these aren't something that are going to get damaged really easily so I'm just going to cut them out by hand trace the uh pattern on here cut it with a band saw this Edge is actually the one that wraps onto the bumper bumper has that curve to it this is pretty rough this is going to need to get adjusted sand it down a bit cut it out kind of roll it into shape and sand that edge to get it to fit the car properly all right so this is looking pretty good I'm just going to put some tape on here to hold them onto the car so I can step back and get a better look at it looks pretty good it's aggressive but not like insane looking which I think fits this car this car is really a mix between a lot of sharp lines with a bit of like rounded edges next step is Trace that shape and turn that piece into a another piece of aluminum so that dive plane can go on this will go on a little strip on the bottom that can rib it onto the car and then once I get those both done weld that up sand it all down those will be finished we move on to the next thing now that I have this shape I'm going to rcri this line here measure out some holes and then I'll take this piece and make another one identical to it for the other side same with this make an identical one weld them up and get ready to Bol them on the CL no turning back now the glow in a lock turning back now no sun mat that looks pretty good that was just about done I welded these these two pieces together sand of that edge down so you don't see the weld make it look like one piece got all those holes mocked up C goes in place I'll just finish drilling the rest of the holes I'm not going to actually put any rivets in it to hold it in place right now because obviously we're just going to pull it right off soon as everything's done to get it powder coated so we'll just use the cleos to hold it in place while we mock everything up I'm happy with that it's looking pretty good car is looking way more aggressive already we got to do the grills the grills are obviously going to take a bit of time you know there's some shape to them corners and we have to turn this into a piece of aluminum with a hole for a fog light make like a border then I put a stainless mesh screen on the back side of it so it'll look really clean and finished but uh obviously Perfection takes time no match what do you think Tim dude that looks sick what the heck yeah that's awesome I can't wait for the splitter to Su just be by itself these look good thank you I think they look good I think they're they fit the car well yeah I think they fit the car really good actually especially from the front yeah it looks it looks like really aggressive but not like overly that's awesome clean all right so these are the fog lights that we got for this car I'm going to try to put them in where they were on the race car which is right around in this area kind of underneath the headlight that leaves all this open even if we left all this open and put the fog light in the middle this would still get a lot of air but I think for the look we're going for we're try to get it over here but I'll see if I can do that without it sticking out too far it might actually even look better to have that panel fit you know kind of close to all this to look a bit more aggressive I got a cardboard template that I cut out that fit into the grill opening got that all dialed in I took a picture of this put it into the CAD software turned it into this part right here fog lights is going to go in that Center there that's going to give me room to uh bolt these guys down and have some room for adjustment this way and left and right send over the plasma table cut one out see if it fits without this machine how long would it taken you make this right here would have taken probably 8 hours just to make the pair of these grills cutting it out by hand sketching it out onto a piece of metal and measuring in between every hole to get the spacing right cutting out the inside with like a a jigsaw and then filing and sanding oh man this is so much work this is like it's cheating really looks good huge progress so far today thank you Mike no no no no no so Mike Mike was alone most day now we're back and now he's distracted here's the thing this car does need to get done today cuz all these parts need to go to powder coating and right now it takes what 4 days and transports here next week so if we get it right it'll it'll just work out in time otherwise if it doesn't then Dam has to take a different car and he'll be very disappointed I have some big news I talk to our friends at al13 who love it when I come up with a random car project that I'm going to do last minute and I asked them what the lead times are on Wheels and they're like weeks Damon and I'm like cool I have 5 days days to make a brand new set of rims how do we do this pulled a few strings for us and they will be making a brand new set of wheels for the Zago ddlm project now that's cool the real question is though what style of wheel do we put on this car clearly something Chrome with spinners yeah fair enough or wires but no seriously it's going to be Motorsport inspired but it really comes down to what do they have already designed the good news is I've had a few wheels that I really love pre-designed that I think could potentially look good on here and one of those wheels are the wheels that we just recently put on the Senna now a five-spoke wheel that's nice and clean would look good on the mercial logo it really though comes down to the offset on the front wheel the back wheel's going to look killer but if it's too flat because of this offset end up with a really flat face and then you end up with concave on the back and then it looks a little weird the other version would be something that's obviously multispoke and if you come with me this way in the other room we have a car that is back not fixed but back and that is the SVG these wheels being that it looks good on the svj and the mercio logo has that Lamborghini overall shape and design we could go with this multispoke style wheel on the mercio logo old mercio race car some of them had this exact style of wheel on it we could go with this or we go with this or we go with something else that al13 already has designed however I can't make up anything new I would love to know what you guys think should we go five spoke or should we go with the multi-spoke like on the svj or do we go with something completely different if that was the case you would have to go to al13 give them a follow for all the wheels they've made for our cars and look at their designs and then let me know the actual model number most of the time they listed in their postings on Instagram please comment below I have to pick a wheel design right away so it's imperative you guys make your choices oh that's a good sign we're removing the factory pre- LP tail lights there's a new gal right there I like it looks cool those were $110,000 so please be very very no Stephen you can't buy a forgery off your uncle for okay you can to have my car oh yes yes yes yes the same wheel as on the SJ yes yes and that's the race car look what do you guys say do you like it yeah I do like it what do you think Stephen that looks good shut your mouth okay Dam we need to test these please go push a break put it in reverse now go push a brake pedal that's never going to get done in time we're already behind did it work no nothing so far is it working no but both sides aren't working wait wait do it again what happened wait press the brake pedal nothing nothing oh maybe it's we're missing the ground hold on oh guys it's all about suspense funny how Steven was certified in his application for getting a job here but is no longer certified this is getting heavy okay try wait there's two hold you two y it's working oh hell yeah wao no don't show him don't show him he doesn't get the benefit of seeing this does the other one work put it in reverse put it in reverse wait don't he's not starting it okay it's in Reverse oh it's red that's cool that's cool oh that's cool what's it do no you no don't tell him don't tell him no what do you mean don't tell him you'll see it when you watch the Vlog no no no no iug it I plug it I plug it I plug it oh so sick that's sick it's cool stop it stop it by the way these were $10,000 I just hold them came out of Dave salary right out of it oh okay down to the Brass tax we need to get the rear diffuser mounted the tail lights mounted this is done which looks amazing the front end get the fog light mounts mounted we have to rewire the tail lights no actually the plug in no no no no it flashes too fast it flashes too fast as an indicator that bulbs burnt out no there's no bulbs in here they're LED you got to rewire it a signal comes from an ECU somewhere in the car to manage the pulse of the light not the tail light itself now the question I have for you is what if the car doesn't get done what would you take I would take the oh yeah that's a problem yeah how are we going to mount this oh wait don't know it's bigger no no no no you don't know that it's bigger which headlights did you order these for are you sure it's for the right car they actually don't fit that doesn't make any sense well that's the same oh it's it's not cuz look at the Gap here and the Gap here have to cut this out then probably sucks actually I jokes I never thought that up actually wouldn't line up yeah it didn't make either but uh they mentioned it when I bought it oh speaking of lighting though we have a rain light rain light sexy installed got a little bracket on there well it sounds like brackets will be in your future the next little bit because that has to go what it doesn't fit oh man yeah it's a big deal H and then what holds them in place after that maybe these yeah but to what there's nothing there so now we need to build a whole in structure yeah it's a lot of extra work it's interesting isn't it I have to cut this whole section out of there it's plug and play as far as the wiring goes huh yep actually is isn't that weird Jokes Aside we did not expect this at all this is actually a huge setback they told me but I forgot to mention it you joking right now I mentioned it to Tim Tim why do you hate m c we call a punk no I did not hate to be that guy but it's 1:30 and this has to Cur be done by the end of the day so maybe we'll do a little bit of a late night sleepover the ddhq to get it done we're all hands on deic this done so what has to happen right now we need a jig sock okay I want take Dumb and Dumber and Chris and let's get a jigs sace all right guys we're going to Home Depot to get a jigs sace we can finish the beautiful mercio we're taking the minivan we're not going to crash the minivan the mini why is that funny um don't we don't do that anymore we yeah dude if you think about it like seriously watching R home seriously you stop and think about it that day we all crashed a minivan I was sick I wasn't here all right here we go here we go by the way that's what it looked like D's not going to be happy he actually loves this D we actually had a team meeting for the van we're not going to beat on it it's going to be a company asset that we respect find D hey so just a jigsaw anything else blades blades got it oh yeah just chicka and Blades chicksa blades got it got it got are you sure you just want J on blad you know what we also need couple more trash cans okay got it got it got it got it little tight there we're a little tight there okay let's go get out of here what what is happening hey not in the new vanent we talked about this I deserve that your biggest fan right here that's not my dad speaking of your dad though I say I'm his biggest fan why is my dad on your phone grab it let's go you got it grab it Tim we have to rush all right Tim yeah ready to go we got your jsaw and your blades you're good to go that was an amazing catch he's so hard on you sometimes you can get payback okay we're back at the shop we the tools we need and uh the friendships we don't where is Mike Essa are you sure it's the right one yeah pretty sure that's what he said at least how do we not have that basic tool here we don't use this that often hey Mike we got the jiga I hope we got the right one we just squeezed past your uh your parking oh my bad dude I'm so bad with proximity can you make sure you got the right tool cuz it was crazy in there looks good look like it'll work and then they didn't have a Cutters for carbon fiber so we got wood and metal yep perfect so this for the front diffuser for the front splitter and to cut the uh Factory deck lid which is carbon fiber so we got to cut the SP is it carbon fiber I didn't know that yeah when I uh just drilled through it saw carbon fiber shavings coming out of it how crazy this is carbon fiber and you Dred into it yeah now we're going to cut it up what are you doing I'm figuring out the functions of it it has you don't need to worry about it it's on you're not cutting it what Mike's cutting it right no Tim's cutting I got too much to do you're cutting this I'm cutting it you're cutting the splitter yeah I'll cut it bro how would I cut it I I could do it I could have have a steady hand wait you used to work with carbon you got it yeah 25 years ago actually 27 years ago oh that's how old I am what a piece of wow wow you're lucky my wife sent you your paycheck walk us through all the tape I don't understand what all the tape's for this extra tape is to cover up that other line that uh is not correct as I was drawing it I realized that the edge had shifted back slightly yeah so the whole thing was a little off so I straightened it all out and redrew this side but that's why it's got the uh the the two lines why don't you just tell Tim to go on the inside line I I will but I want to give him a little bit of a help there too just just to make sure he gets it right cuz we got one sheet so no mistakes this is like carbon fiber but M&M style you have one shot what are you going to do with it Tim had a mom spaghetti for lunch so he did have hey did have M spaghetti for lunch settle down I'm beyond nervous right now go ahead lots of confidence hold on hold on I got to put clamps yeah cuz otherwise you're going to be flopping all over the place all right you ready you guys ready rough cut rough cut hey how are you welcome back to the Vlog thanks for coming big things happening like physically large things happening on the building we a brand new sponsor which I'll tell you later in the video video part of our sponsorship deal is branding on the building a really cool logo and the boys at PFS doing the big vinyl on the other side of the building and also somewhere on the inside so in the meantime all you get to know is it's Nationwide back to the front of the car here and Mikel is making this really cool custom bracket piece for the front fog lights you know where it sits in the opening it's tilted and it's also Twisted this way so we've got to have some tilt for the lights to point the right direction and also so they're pointing level and then I got to slot the holes and give it a little bit of adjustability the hole the stop it D getting these brackets the right length getting all sorted and hopefully you know in a couple hours be will be on the car hopefully it's crazy it hurts my brain watching him make all this stuff and what do we have up over here toothpaste fixing the stock tail light did you actually break it it did no I didn't break it little things Damon found out oh my God going to tell don't tell me hey Damon Stephen cracked your tail light and trying to fix it without you KN right now the pocket yeah I got but you're not supposed to know oh the slow walk hold on I got the walk hey what did you break on my ta light look at this what the hell what the hell stepen nice dude fryer yo sick that's really cool I'm glad you thought about the angle I see what you mean now it's like down and twist it in yeah I've seen nipples like that before let's go this way I'm going the wrong way it's down and then it's like this Edge is actually yeah it's all tapered back down here y sick this is a you know totally eyeball alignment here but it looks pretty good well later on when it's on the ground we turn the lights on we put up against a wall we can level it up let see how crooked it is that's right Dave when he does the eye thing are you it's like Mario and Luigi over here just working on the Italian car with the files I feel like there's a faster way Mike's is having a bit of fun right now you got to earn it actually pry nice down here cuz it's cool the conrete is cold the building's warm yeah doing good doing all right how you doing just get the Ang funny is that we could just put this in the air but instead st's tight yeah 38 ready for the freeway ready for the Auto Bond no what no no no you sure no no mhm yep you know who's really going to appreciate this this anybody who really likes the period correct style of creating modifications to a car of a certain time era you know what I mean like this is a 2003 really built in 2002 when you look at this you're like well this is really our character everything's made out of carbon of the fibers now like you know the 720 GTR yeah the 720 GTR is not from 2003 this is how they build stuff for the race car aluminum yeah you would take a Lamborghini and you would make homemade uprights and basically a diffuser Y which is like why he bang this out like an afternoon he also knows what he's doing so he makes it look really easy but done it once and before uh yeah bro it's simple but it makes it look so aggressive now trust us when this is black and these are black we have everything dialed in and the new tail lights are in and the rain lights in it'll all come together yeah I mean it's already it's starting to look really crazy I mean going from that really like kind of soft like first gen Mercy look where it's not super aggressive like it's a really cool shape it's kind of soft yeah not that that's not stop why is it hard hey Ryan back for more punishment back how are you I'm all right all right good talk you know part of getting this building was to make it more of a community feel and that's why we always have friends coming by their super cars and just hang hanging out and we want to do more we want to get the shop basically built up the truth is it comes down to this we don't have time right now and the money we do have is going towards more important things but eventually we will do a lot of stuff in the building we're spread very thin right now we are hiring we're looking for an administrative assistant some going to come in here and help manage the day-to-day operations of the building as well some things with the business replying to emails dealing with careers dealing with all the utilities and maintenance of the building so if you are that person that has experience experience managing a business administrative office work you know kind of Jack of all trades but professional send me an email Dave dailydriven exoticscon you have to live here we're not relocating anybody you have to live here you have to EXP experience minimum 5 years in managing a business Operations Logistics things like that no it's it's crazy cuz it's it's a little bit of exoticness with a little bit of JDM you would drive around with these fog lights all day wish you wish you had Mya don't you I know I need to buy one I I can't afford one some things can't be bought he's leas that's right 24 months left in that leas what a huge doing with that I'm cutting a hole in the mercy don't worry I'll clean it up oh my God you did that's a carbon body bro I know so you cut a hole there and there to mount the diffuser yeah we're going to make the uprights off the chassis so it'll actually be chassis mounted I'll clean it up don't worry no going back just no going back from this oh we're getting a mesh dude this is moving so quickly I have multiple people on this right now Mike St the ship well Tim's over there chopping up the bumper I saw that and uh once that's done I can design the brackets that are going to hold the diffuser in place yeah I'm trying to get these front grills done coming along I think they're looking really good everyone's so busy right now it's crazy we're all working together to get this done yeah exactly it's teamwork it makes a DreamWork bam dude it looks so good it actually matches the svj which is pretty ironic the colors and right now we're installing the same decal in the other room over the svj now this is one of our major sponsors for 202 for helped us in so many ways here at the Block to build all the cars to pay for our rent and really just grow the channel you're wondering what Auto allies is it's actually phenomenal and it hit me up the thought this is the smartest thing ever come across our desk as you may know sometimes we get speeding tickets and sometimes we didn't deserve them and most people don't know what their options are they think well I got ticket I got to pay it or call a lawyer it's going to cost me 3 four5 $600,000 whatever the fees are aut of my makes it really easy because you pay a flat rate $28 a month and if you get a ticket you upload in the app and they cover your attorney Fe again $28 a month you get a ticket no stress you now get to fight back take control and be in power versus in the past you thought well can't afford a lawyer so you took the ticket now you have points your insurance goes up maybe you lost your license Auto allies hasard back Link in description we'll get more to details later on how it all works but for now you know what a ticket is you know what a lawyer is you really should be signning for auto allies come on dude it's looking pretty good looking pretty good now remember it's to get powder black but like T hook which aner logo you need you yeah right yeah and then all this like looking really good and Tim's just destroying that back bumper right now just chopping it up man chopping it up Tim gives no really doesn't Tim actually looks really good on the white the best part is our best friends at Auto allies can help you too had big tickets you paid lawyer fees haven't you oh yeah how much have you paid in legal fees for a ticket before what's your worst number 5,000 I just paid three because I missed the auto allies membership remember Auto allies $28 a month and you're protected you get ticket put in the app or takes care of it Link in description everyone Wasing should have Auto allies it makes sense 100% holy sh a little slower there buddy I bet say these are bright too dude this looks so cool yeah looks like this had so much like to tie in those and the splitter looks dope nice job cutting that yeah it was uh you know it was very a lot of time Tim good job I know you cut it job cutting that hey hold on carbon dust on your hands and in my lungs this is just what your hands look like biard when you're working on when you're working on cars like your hands look like when you're a man that's who's softer actually I'm softer than you don't feel my right hand your calluses though yeah that's oh this sound softer too from the I overdid it oh you're a too I thought you work for a living what are you talking about these are fine hands all joking aside this is really cool yeah the blue interior and whatnot I'm happy for you man you deserve a nice car finally I'm pumped that we put some blue on the front quarters and the blue splitter really ties it all in actually it does it's actually like a pretty close mat it's actually pretty damn close all right Michael so we're going to mount a diffuser the tape off splitter really are you going to you want to I don't know is it done no look what it takes just take a second admire the level of Mike's going until you get this perfect all the measurements I'm admiring Michael's work here it's looking cool bye Mike bye enjoy your weekend okay see you guys later you know internal employee theft is a big problem in America that's why important you keep pay attention to your employees oh might expect a diffuser home with them second your pocket Tim second your Pock Tim what's this what's this Tim that's my phone Tim Mike is burning the midnight oil here to finish this project so we get it to powder so I drew up a couple uh brackets here uh turned into that damn and what are these brackets for uh these will hold the rear diffuser oh you're getting this done now Jesus oh yeah no cuz he's got to get pwder coated too so that'll bolt to the chassis that'll go through the hole that Tim cut this will get bent and then these four holes will bolt to the diffuser itself and it should hold it exactly in the right spot where we want it cut it out on the plasma bolt it up this is D un pump this is why we have this facility and all these awesome dudes like this 3 years ago this would taken us a year to build yeah so I want this to be fixed I want to stay in the position we set it it's it's not a race car where we're going to be trying to change it burn well it's not it's not take that shirt off because well you know some cars are race cars this is a street car that looks like a race car so Dave I don't want rattles I wanted to stay where I said it home stretch Mike made these brackets to mount the rear diffuser get it on here and then basically all the Fab work's done and the rest can get to powder coating and then to put the pressure on them to get it done but I think you know it's looking good looking real nice like every's working really hard today I mean I love these things oh they're so handy for this stuff they have a funny name too right c c c all the person who invented them okay everything is on the car now now again it's on a final reveal let go to powder coat there other work to be done but the main components are done we did this very fast just in a few days this is really cool it makes me excited for to come with other cars so right now smash the Subscribe button join the family it's free ready Ryan I'm ready this is your protection yeah it's not going to help you man oh yeah come on baby here it comes dude what a transformation bro the front end is my absolute favorite dude I love it the fres i f the front looks so good it looks so sick well what's crazy is it's still got the blue tape on there this hole has to be sent off the powder coat to be turned black there's a few other surprises coming so the next time you see this car it's really going to blow your freaking mind dude it looks good it looks you it good I love it this was a fun project for you it was fun I love doing this kind of stuff cuz you get that transformation right you get to build your own kind of race car and man turn around look at the back look at the back oh oh my God bro that is insane damn and again like this is not the finished product so once the diffusers all black the uprates are black the tail lights are in the center grills back together everything's back together it's got the rain light it's going to really come together but we wanted to show you guys the builds right like the process this is the process so the next time you see this car it's going to be complete oh it'll be more than complete I have some other surprises I didn't want to ruin it and just show you guys everything it has to be like a big transformation I really like this look right now it's so like clean and Sleek looking you guys killed it you guys killed it\n"
