The Eve Flare: A HomeKit Light with Endless Possibilities
The Eve Flare is a homekit light that can be added to the Apple Home app, allowing for seamless integration and control. To set it up, either scan the code on the bottom of the light or on the included instruction manual using the Eve app or the Apple Home app. Once configured, you can use the Eve app to turn the light on and off, adjust its brightness, temperature of white or color, and assign it to a specific room or favorite list.
One of the standout features of the Eve Flare is its battery life. When set to around 30-40% power, we found that it lasted an entire day's worth of use. However, when turned up to maximum brightness, the battery life was significantly reduced, lasting only six to eight hours. The light also comes with a manual on/off switch and mode button to shift through several different colors.
The Eve Flare is also equipped with two manual controls: a power button to turn it on and off, as well as a mode button to change its color settings. This allows for endless possibilities in terms of customization. Additionally, the device includes a metal wire that can be used to hang the light from various surfaces, such as a bedroom or a tent. This gives users the freedom to position the light anywhere they desire, while still achieving omnidirectional mood lighting.
In terms of design, the Eve Flare has a diffused plastic exterior with a bit of a seam on it. While this is hard to notice in real life, it's something that stands out when examining the device closely. However, this is not a major concern, and the light still looks sleek and modern.
Charging the Eve Flare is easy, as there is no right or wrong way to do so. Simply place it on the charger, and it will instantly start charging. This convenience is one of the standout features of the device.
The Eve Flare is also water-resistant, with an IP65 rating that means it can handle some light splashes but not prolonged exposure to water. We even put it through a test by placing it in the shower, and it performed flawlessly after being submerged in water for several minutes.
One of the unique applications we came up with using the Eve Flare is creating a starry night sky effect by mounting the device on the wall and surrounding it with string lights or fairy lights. The result is a truly magical ambiance when the lights are turned off, and the light takes center stage under the stars.
In conclusion, the Eve Flare is a homekit light that does a lot of things right. It provides endless possibilities for customization, has a long battery life, and is easy to use. While it's on the pricier side for just ambient lighting, we think it's worth considering if you can justify the cost. With its sleek design and versatility, the Eve Flare is sure to be a standout addition to any home.
In terms of performance, the Eve Flare shines with its ability to assign favorites and perform firmware updates through the Eve app. This allows for seamless integration with other devices in your home and ensures that your light stays up-to-date with the latest features and security patches.
One of the benefits of using a homekit device like the Eve Flare is its compatibility with Siri. You can simply ask Siri to change the color of the light, and she will do her best to assign that color to the Eve Flare. This allows for hands-free control of your light, making it easy to adjust settings while on-the-go.
Finally, the Eve Flare comes with a home kit code printed on the instructions in the box, as well as one on the bottom of the device itself. If you ever need to reset or reassign the light to your homekit system, simply scan this code using the Eve app or Apple Home app to get back up and running quickly.
