Enabling Kids Corner on Your Windows Phone: A Step-by-Step Guide
Hey guys, it's David from leonlocker.com and this is a part of our Windows Phone 101 series. Today, we're actually going to show you how to enable a thing called Kids Corner which is not anything creepy or weird or anything like that. It's actually a mode on your Windows phone device that you can do a set that will allow children to use your phone without being able to get access to any of your apps or any of your stuff like say your Corporate email. It just allows you to set certain apps on games for them to access and gives them their own little home screen to play with with a password to yours so they can't get to it.
To set this up, we first need to turn it on. So, scroll right to get all of your apps and then look for settings tap on that and then we're gonna scroll down to Kids Corner. Hit next and then within here you can choose different apps games and videos and music and stuff that you'll allow your kid to use. For example, let's go to games, I'll let them just play Flow Free and Trivial Pursuit check and then do that for all the rest of the stuff you want to add. Hit next. Set a password, This is highly recommended because it will give them access to your normal phone in case they get older and try to get to your apps and home screen and stuff like that. They'll be asked for that password. So then hit finish.
Now that we have the password set up, for a kid to get to Kids Corner, basically just give them your phone like you normally would and just instruct them to swipe to the left and that's how they'll get to their own corner. And then they swipe up to unlock it and this will give them just the things that you've selected plus a neat little customized tab they can go to change their background picture, their theme, and all that fun stuff. So it gives them a little bit of customization option makes them feel like this is their own kids corner.
Whenever your kid is done, if you just turn that off and turn it back on, if you swipe up instead of going to the left, it'll give you your PIN which we set as a bunch of ones and you get back to your own desktop. Going forward, if you download any new apps or anything that you or games that you want your kid to be able to use, there's either go back into settings and re-add them through the way we added them originally or certain apps you'll actually be able to just hold down on them after you've downloaded them and you'll see an ad to Kids Corner.
Now, of course if you ever want to turn this off, you just go back to settings Kids Corner and turn it off and there you go.
