The BEST Optical Keyboard for Gaming (CK80)
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso over two months ago here at the tech yes studio we took a look at an optical switch and this was in the auras canine keyboard now that was a keyboard that came in at a hundred and forty US dollars and it also had pretty in my opinion shaky RGB software that I didn't like and the way the keyboard was implemented especially with the key caps even though they'll PBT wasn't to my liking I found myself making quite a few mistakes on this keyboard even though I liked the feel of it and that's one thing with keyboards even though subjectively they can feel good objectively you may be making more mistakes hence why my main keyboard on my desktop for a long time has been the creative k08 I actually don't really enjoy typing on this as opposed to a top-rate real force for example which subjectively is one of the best keyboards to type on but objectively I found myself over time making the least amount of mistakes on this keyboard as well as typing the fastest that I've ever typed and also having a great response time in high actuation point where I was playing games that little bit better so I thought to myself hmm I'm just gonna keep using the k08 until now when this moto speed which surprised me because I've tested out a moto speed keyboard in the past when I did an arleigh express roundup of keyboards and I'll put the link to that video up here where it was of course a decent budget value for money keyboard and then I got this in the CK 80 and as soon as I took it out I was like what is going on this keyboard had the weight it had pbt semi low-profile key caps which the implementation of them quite simply was phenomenal I was blown away by how they've implemented these key caps they're not too heavy and especially since it's a PBT key cap it's going to be heavier than a standard key cap so the assembly load profile really makes typing on this keyboard an absolute breeze then they've implemented what they call a zoo optical switch it's a silver switch which is similar to a cherry MX blue so it's got those two levels of feedback but it's still optical and it has one of the highest actuation points that I've experienced on a keyboard in my life so you're probably wondering this stage what is an optical switch well it's Sencha ly instead of using the typical mechanical touch points it's got an infrared laser inside that is on the default position set to off in that the one point of the laser isn't touching the other but when you press the key cap down it then opens up and the laser is allowed to connect between the two different points this brings the consistency of typing to another level even over that of mechanical and now mechanical switches were hailed for being even more consistent than membrane keys so this brings a welcome addition to consistency in the world of keyboards but you can have all the optical switches in the world and you can have Zeus himself casting lightning bolts between those two connection points but if those lightning bolts aren't casted properly and if things aren't implemented properly then the keyboard overall is just quite simply going to suck to type on now here's where the ck8 he blew me away yet again I started typing on it for a week and I found myself being even just that little bit more consistent than my creative k08 I also found it just a pleasure to type on with the Zeus optical Silver's and that I love that feedback I love the tactile field that they bring but also on that I love the way that the keyboard and the key switches have been implemented on this keyboard I'll let you guys have a quick listen to me typing on this thing first make a zero weight now another cool thing that they've done with this keyboard is they haven't implemented any software at all in that you can control 15 profiles of RGB on the keyboard itself from a hardware profile and they've even got RGB surrounding the keyboard which you can adjust with the lever on the side and if you press that again you've then got control for your volume and if it's one thing I'd love to have volume control on my keyboard especially if I quickly need a mute things if a phone calls coming in and I'm listening to music since I do listen on big speakers the 5.1 z96 from Logitech so it's got the volume control it's got the RGB from the hardware and it's got the switches to match and you've got the ability to lock the Windows key as well as full and key rollover support so now what about the downsides to this keyboard surely there's got to be something well in my opinion it is a brand that I haven't had much experience with modo speeds so I don't know how long things are going to last but from what I hear the optical switches last the longest of any key switch in the game as well as having no risks rest that's something to look out for as well but I actually prefer keyboards not to have wrist rest nowadays and just go out and use a latex one that you can then port from keyboard to keyboard as you go on through time because it's going to help bring the cost down of the keyboard but now we're going to move on to the last point with this keyboard and probably the most negative and that is that there's different versions out there when I checked Aliexpress they had this keyboard the CK 80 going for fifty seven dollars which if anything of course I'd recommend people go out and pay fifty seven bucks over 73 from the site that sent this over to me BZ future but then I checked closely and there's two different models there's the Zeus optical switch then there's the Oh Timmy versions in a gold and silver switch of their own but they're actually a mechanical switch and I couldn't find the optical switch on Aliexpress anywhere but with that said the last thing to go over is the zoo switches at least the ones I've got here do have the cross Square Cherry MX support so you can mount whichever key caps you want whether they be full profile or even lower profile than the ones that are included with the keyboard and then other thing too about the color it comes in with this gunmetal gray and that's something that actually can't be helped with PBT I believe because with PBT keycaps they're actually harder to color than ABS key caps and so you're limited in the design of what you can do with that plastic anyway that's the keyboard there 73 bucks I was blown away I've got something that is now my new main in terms of a keyboard the busy future which if you guys didn't know is the same company head as s-silly keys which actually sponsored the channel here they are doing this site as their hardware side and they sent over their mouse pad which just gonna say this is a mediocre mouse pad there's nothing special about it they also sent over this v100 mouse which is from moto speed again so they sent over this whole moto speed pack and the one thing that I liked was the keyboard I wasn't too keen on the mouse especially since there's some really good Mouse designs out there and even then if you're getting into mice it's hard to beat the G 102 which is currently gone for 20 bucks on Aliexpress or if you're a palm grip off the Death Adder for 25 bucks which from those two mice if you can't get good at games then I think it's something wrong with the skill level and not the hardware and if you find yourself getting good then you can upgrade to some more of those peculiar tastes like the model o- or the ultra light 2 but this one here the V 100 palm grip is right hand mouse with three buttons on the side so that's probably one thing that it's got going for it is it's got a good shape and it's also got three buttons on the side which some Gerber's love to use but with that aside it's now time for the question of the day which comes from Jay Hazama and he says any chance you can do a comparison of the 2019 refresh of Arctic mx4 versus the original Arctic mx4 and this is coming from the videos in the past where I've done thermal paste comparisons but it's starting to get to the point where a lot of people are just requesting all these different thermal paste and I'm going to start rounding them all up and in fact if you guys want to send out a thermal paste that you want included in the video then I'll put my p o-- box right up here where you can send that thermal paste in and i will use it in that comparison because there's always that one thermal paste that seems to get missed out but if you guys want to send them in and they're definitely not going to get missed out I do promise you that but here it is right here the CK 80 it's going to be my new main keyboard after using it I'm really impressed with it it's such a good keyboard coupled with this nice latex wrist rest now one thing I forgot to mention is it does also have a height adjustment there so you can raise the keyboard from the rear if you want 1.6 meter cable as well which isn't braided but I don't think really anyone cares about having a cable that's braided or not on a keyboard it's mainly more of a thing to do with the mice and wrapping things up CK 80 with the Zeus optical silver switches I was blown away by everything with this keyboard the mouse and the mouse pad they were pretty mediocre but then again I'll leave some links in the description below for you guys if you want to check out things for yourselves and if you enjoyed this look at a different kind of keyboard then be sure to hit that like button for us and also let us know in the comments section below what is your main keyboard and also why love reading your thoughts and opinions as always and I'll catch you in another tech video very soon peace out for now babe you\n"
