The Crafty Lumberjack Ring is Finally Here: Spring Cleaning Hacks and Traditions

Hey guys welcome back to HGTV handmade with us, the crafty lumberjack ring is finally here. Believe it or not your environment has a huge impact on your emotions and your stress level. Yeah so we're going to show you two easy spring cleaning hacks that both live in New York and as New Yorkers sometimes you're wearing your shoes for 12 hours at a time and especially with this warm weather coming sometimes your shoes start to smell.

So we're going to show you a quick easy hack if Yoder Iser shoes and we're going to use mismatched socks. You know I feel like it's always the cute socks where you lose one and like the wash or haul in it yeah come on so now we're going to be able to use these cute socks so the first thing you're going to do is take your sock and put it over a glass this will just help pour all our ingredients right into it there's no mess. We're going to be using baking soda, baking soda helps to get the smell out and we're going to be using corn starch which helps soak up that moisture.

We're also going to use some essential oils now essential oils don't only smell good but some also help with fighting bacteria yeah they have great health benefits so I'm going to do about 10 drops today, we're using lavender, but you can use whatever you would like. This is about half a cup of our mixture that'll be about half a cup for each sock and then you're just going to tie it around the end and you can throw this into your shoe whether you still ask you about two weeks or so when you need a refresher, use the same sock than just refilled. Now I'm going to show you my spring cleaning hack we're going to be making a modern-day potpourri using wooden blocks.

I know it doesn't sound typical but it really fits our aesthetic and it looks really cool and then it will smell delicious divine and people will say what is that and you say it is my modern-day potpourri made at a press cloth. So we're just going to add our blocks to a zip top bag here, we pick these up at the craft store and then we found this essential oil of bergamot and patchouli which is a dream scent to me and I'm just going to dump about 20 drops or so into the bags here.

It doesn't matter it can just kind of get all over the play and you really could use any essential oils, oh yeah totally whatever thank you like and then I'm just going to mix it up here let the block soak in the essential oil I'm going to set this overnight just so that the oil really absorbs into the wooden block there and then tomorrow it's going to smell delicious. So once you let them sit overnight you're going to just drop them in a bowl, they will last about a week or so and then you can just refresh as you go.

They're super trendy it looks modern it really fits our aesthetic and it smells ah these are two great spring cleaning hacks but we also have a few traditions around here that helps us get through our spring cleaning. That's right we always start room by room, so in the kitchen we really try to declutter that means like any food we have any in the past six month we go through the fridge.

We even go through our cabinets with our glassware because we just seemed to accumulate a lot of stuff we always start top to bottom that way like any dust that falls down we clean up at the end. Then we worked into the bedroom, we live our mattress, we go through all our clothes anything that we haven't worn in a year we donate or giveaway and then the bathroom the bathroom again top to bottom I think it's key you go through our curtains yeah we go through our cabinets just make sure you know products they have an expiration date.

You need to just check those and throw them out. We also really love just to have a playlist going, yeah turn up the music as loud as we can. We really just try to have as much fun as you make a whole day of it and once we have everything clean we like to start new. We get new plans we like to kind of express it up adding new plants really kind of brings life into the apartment and at the end you really just need to treat yourself if you worked hard.

If you have any spring cleaning tips or tricks or hacks let us know, we always are open to hearing new things yeah I've used leave a comment subscribe and we'll see you soon bye.
