OnePlus 8T vs Google Pixel 5

The Great Debate: Google Pixel 5 vs OnePlus 8T

Maybe this is the reason why the embargo lifted at the same time. Who knows? Now that the Pixel of course you are going to be getting that complete stock Android experience. But on the OnePlus you get Oxygen OS which I really like. It's very clean and it adds some very useful and additional features. Oxygen OS 11 let's be honest has taken a lot of inspiration from One UI. In that, it has been made to be a little bit easy to use in one hand we've got these big heading sections like we have on One UI. I'm definitely welcoming this everything just feels very fast and smooth on the software side of things. I really don't think you can go wrong with either of these. It will come down to your personal preference but you will be getting guaranteed updates longer on the Pixel compared to the OnePlus. Three years versus two years on the OnePlus although security updates you will be getting for three years on the OnePlus.

Now although both devices do support 5G the OnePlus does have a dual SIM card slot. So you can have two SIMs active at the same time. This is something that you don't have on the Pixel. Looking at and speakers now. So both do have stereo speakers and generally they sound really good. We've got one in the earpiece and one bottom firing. Now I am not an audio expert but my friend (indistinct) is, and having a chat with him in his experience and his detailed testing with his ASMR mic. He did say that he preferred the OnePlus 8T.

Let's talk about the battery. So the OnePlus does have a larger battery size compared to the Pixel. However, it does have a higher refresh rate on it. It is also a larger display and I've only had these devices for about week in which the battery life has actually been good on both but I can't give you anything too extensive. What I can tell you about is the charging. The OnePlus 8T has Warp Charge 65. So 65 watt charging. This is actually split across the two batteries. So it's charging both the batteries at the same time. So that way you get that super fast charging 100% in around 39 minutes. The Pixel has 18 watt charging, which is much much slower. However, the Pixel does support wireless charging which the OnePlus 8T does not. As well as that, the Pixel also supports reverse wireless charging where you'll be able to use the Pixel to charge another device maybe some ear buds wirelessly. So I guess it comes down to speed versus convenience. Again this is something that we've talked about many times before. I'm somebody who does prefer wireless charging over fast charging because I drop my smartphone on my wireless charger before I go to bed, I wake up and it's fully charged. That's just kind of my routine but some of you might prefer that very fast top up that you get with 65 watt charging.

Finally, let's talk about the price. So if we look at the base model. Eight gigabytes of Ram with 128 gigabytes of storage in the UK the OnePlus is actually coming in 50 pounds cheaper compared to the Pixel. Now in the U.S. as far as I'm aware right now there is only going to be the 256 gigabyte option of the OnePlus 8T and that is going to be coming in $50 more compared to the Google Pixel 5. However you will be getting double the storage as well as more Ram. So what does that mean? Well, with the OnePlus you are getting a better overall display a better overall performance with faster charging. But in the Pixel you are getting overall better cameras in my opinion. And you're also getting things like wireless charging and reverse wireless charging which you don't have on the OnePlus 8T. So it is going to be a tough decision as always but hopefully this video has helped you make that decision. By breaking down all of the differences, which are your pick? Is it the Google Pixel 5 or is it the OnePlus 8T? Do drop me a comment below and let me know your thoughts. I hope you enjoyed this video and found it useful if you did hit that thumbs up button for me. And if you haven't already then be sure to subscribe and hit that bell icon. There's going to be lots more SuperSaf Style coverage. I am trying to work on a camera comparison of the Pixel 5 versus the S20 FE, which is very highly requested. So that should hopefully be coming soon as well as lots of iPhone coverage because that's around the corner. So you won't want to miss any of it. Thanks for watching this is Saf on SuperSaf TV and I'll see you next time.

Now we take a break'cause I forgot to chargethe bloody battery.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- What's up guys, Saf here on SuperSaf TV.And it's not often that the embargofor two devices liftsnot only in the same daybut at the very same time. But that is exactly what's happened todaywith the Google Pixel 5 5Gand the OnePlus 8T, which is also 5Gbut they've not put it on the box.Anyway, I thought instead ofcovering these individuallylet's just put them both in one videoand then we can look atall of the key differences, break them down SuperSaf Style, and also look at some camera samples. So let's get straight to it.So firstly, let's takea look at the displays. They do look very similar. We've got flat displayswith small bezels and a punchout on the left hand side. The OnePlus has slightly thinner bezelson the left and right. And it also has aslightly smaller punch outfor the front facing camera. It also has a higher refresh rate.So the pixel has 90Hz the OnePlus 8Thas a 120 Hz refresh ratewhich does feel smoother. And from what I can see as wellit is slightly brightercompared to the pixel. So I would give the overalledge for the displayto the OnePlus 8T.Now of course another obvious differencebetween these two is the size. The OnePlus 8T does havea larger 6.55 inch displayversus the six inch display of the Pixel. Now personally, I doprefer larger displays.I consume a lot of media,do lots of browsing on my smartphone. So I do like a larger display. So I would lean moretowards the OnePlus 8T.But an advantage that you get on the Pixelis that it is much easier to holdand use with one hand, thanksto that smaller display. So this is somethingthat you might prefer, now while we are on the displays.Let's also talk aboutthe fingerprint scannersbecause the OnePlus 8Tdoes have an in-displayfingerprint scanner. The Pixel actually has afingerprint scanner on the back. Now in terms of speed, theyare both very very fast.So I don't think you can gowrong with either of these,I think it will come downto your personal preference. The OnePlus arguably more convenientbecause it is at the front. So you could unlock it whileit was down on the table.Whereas the Pixel, youdo have to pick it up.However, with the OnePlusyou do have to wake the displayto be able to accessthe fingerprint scanner.Whereas on the Pixel it's always awake. So it could be in your pocketand you could just tap your fingerprint. And as soon as it's out ofyour pocket it is unlocked.Honestly speaking, I don'tmind either of these.I think, I know I keeps saying it.But it's going to come downto personal preference. Now let's talk a little bitabout the build and design. So the Pixel of course, themuch more compact deviceit also weighs a little bitless compared to the OnePlus 8T.So that definitely might be a factorthat you want to consider. And we do have different builds. Both are actually very premium. We do have a combinationof metal and glass. The OnePlus 8T has a metal framewith glass panels on the front and back, and on the front wehave Gorilla Glass five. The Pixel on the otherhand has Gorilla Glass sixfor the display. And we've got an aluminumenclosure which is coatedin this material, which itdoes give it a lot more grip. This material you're not goingto get any fingerprints on.It does feel really nice. This isthe Sort of Sage, there is also a JustBlack version availablewhich will probablyattract a little bit morewhen it comes to fingerprints. But this version of the OnePlus8T the Aquamarine Green, does have a glossy back. Now it's got a very interesting look.So depending on the way the light hits itit does give you a littlebit of a two tone color. And I do like the look ofthis, but I mean, it's glossyso it is going to attractfingerprints more comparedto the pixel.I believe the other version, which is the Lunar Silverwhich does have more of a matte finish. Now in either case, if youdo want to mix things upand give you device the unique lookthen I would recommend a skinfrom our channel sponsor dbrand. You've got so many options on there.I tend to kind of have adifferent favorite each time.I really do like thematrix skin personallyit gives you a bit more gripand it looks really really cool.I'll be leaving a link to dbranddown in the description below. Now the Pixel 5 does have an officialIPX8 Water Resistant rating. The OnePlus 8T does not. However OnePlus do saythat it is water tightand it should be fine touse in things like the rain. However, there is no official rating.I believe this costs more tobe able to get that ratingon the OnePlus 8T sothey haven't included it.So if that doesn't matter youthe Pixel does have that rating. Now Let's talk about the cameras. So of course this isn't a detailedSuperSaf Style camera comparison.I just would not have the time to do thisbut I have gone out and tested these outand taken lots of shots.Front facing cameras, the OnePlus does have a higher resolutionbut remember pixels are not everything. In my experience the Pixeljust takes better selfies. The colors are more accurate.OnePlus devices, I've saidthis many many times before, but they just tend to overexposemake you look fairerthan you actually are.I'm definitely not a fan of this.So I would pick the Pixel hands down.I might be a little bit biased butI generally do likeselfies from Pixel devices.Very contrast the very sharp, great colors and dynamic range. And for the rear facing camerasit's actually quite interestingbecause we've got two realfacing cameras on the Pixel. And we've got four rear facingcameras on the OnePlus 8T.But remember numbers are not everything. So we've got a highresolution on the OnePlus 8T.But once again, it's notjust about the megapixels.Generally you will beshooting at 12 megapixelswhich really puts it headto head with the Pixel. And then we also have an ultrawide camera on both deviceswhich lets you get in alot more into your shots. Now in my experienceof using both of thesefor the past weekI think both take greatshots in good lights. We've got lots of detail. The OnePlus 8T does havea wider field of viewfor the ultra widecamera, which I do like. But generally I did findmyself preferring picturesfrom the Pixel.Overall in tricky situationsdid give better dynamic rangenight mode as well wasbetter in my experiencecolors were more accurate onshots on the ultra-wide camerain low light were definitelymuch better on the Pixel. Now the OnePlus 8T doeshave two additional cameras. There's a five megapixel macro cameraas well as a black and white camera. And this seems to be a trend from OnePlusthey try to throw in extra cameras, which really aren't that useful, just so they can say it's a quad camera. We've seen this many times beforethe five megapixel camera ishigher than the two megapixel camera, which myself, Mark has and many others.Completely roasted on the OnePlus Nord.So I think OnePlus we're like, okay fine, we'll give you five megapixels. But even with the fivemegapixels, it's just not great.I would rather just take an imagewith the primary cameraand then crop in later. And I think you'll geta better shot overall, having that small sensorin my opinion is not worth it.Now the OnePlus 8Pro on the otherhand has an excellent macro camera. And that is because he actually usesthe 16 megapixel ultra-widecamera to focus in close.I think OnePlus maybehaven't included thison the OnePlus 8T becausethey kind of want to havea bit more separationwith this and the OnePlus 8Pro.I don't know, personally I won't be usingthis five megapixel macro cameraas for the black and white camera. It's supposed to helpget you some mono images.Again, this is not somethingI found myself using much.Just applying a filter generallywill get you similar results. It's just not my cup of tea personally. So overall I would givethe edge for photosto the Pixel 5.Now let's move on to the performance.Where it's actually avery easy win for the 8T.It does have Qualcomm's flagship chipsetthe Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.Whereas the Pixel has the capablebut not as powerful 765 5G.The OnePlus 8T also has anoption of 12 gigabytes of Ram.And it's also usingfaster UFS 3.1 storage. So generally speakingfor speed of performance, although on your day to day,it's going to be absolutely fine.I've had no issues with either of these, when it does come to more intensive tasksthen the OnePlus isjust going to be better. In addition to that, the 120 Hz display also makes things feelthat little bit faster.Again, there's not a hugedifference on your day to day.And we do get Android 11 out of the boxwith both of these devices, which is absolutely great.Maybe this is the reason whythe embargo lifted at the same time.Who knows? Now the Pixel of courseyou are going to be gettingthat complete stock Android experience. But on the OnePlus you getOxygen OS which I really like. It's very cleanand it adds some very usefuland additional features.Oxygen OS 11 let's be honest has takena lot of inspiration from One UI.In that it has been made to bea little bit easy to use in
