Welcome to Deep Gram Brain: A Guide to Using Our Transcription Tool

As you click on one of the asset links or transcript links from the email that we send out to you, this is what you'll see. Or something similar. As you can see here, this is the Deep Gram dot. This dot shows you a location in the audio.

The text cursor right here isn't like a normal text cursor. It's designed to help you navigate and transcribe the audio more easily. I'm going to press play so that I can listen and read along as the d Graham drum dot tracks my location in the audio. So, in order to pause the audio, I actually didn't just click this play button here. I pressed tab. Tab is a great shortcut key that lets you play and pause the audio.

I'm going to hit tab one more time, just to show you how different your show can grow with you, mind all right. So, I'm going to stop and actually start editing. I want to start from up here where I just clicked my text cursor. The way that I'm going to move this audio back to my text cursor is by hitting escape.

So, I'm going to start transcribing according to our rules that we set out with you. Those are our transcription rules, and it's really important that you follow along with those. So, that includes things like capitalization using punctuation when it makes sense, like commas and periods. And correcting words that are wrong or not just misspelled words but words that we're missing or that just got transcribed incorrectly.

And making sure that if you don't know what something is said, looking it up on Google, and making sure that you don't type thumbs and us, like I'm sure you're hearing me say so. Okay, let's actually transcribe them and hit escape. Your show, how many years do you think you do your show? Okay, and it's important that you do these contractions like here. So, that was the end of Jerry's sentence, and let's listen right from this point.

All right, so notice that these numbers that he listed out are actually written out. That's important that you write those. I'd say seven or eight tops hit escape why all right um, and say I wanted to not listen from here when my text cursor currently is or where my deep reme doc currently is, but I actually want to listen like back up here or something.

So, because my audio cursor is currently here jumping that back would be by hitting my back to key. My back to key is located right above my tab key, and what that'll do is go back in the audio, is three to four seconds. So, let's do that right now tick and hit tab just play it alright, so here's where it starts spinning mumble jumbled, and they're talking over each other, and that's hard transcribed but it's really important that you get all those interjections in.

So, I hit escape so what is he saying? Yes, he said why you stopped it stopped after night here yeah but your shows different ever stop why you stopped after night here yeah. All right, so you can kind of see how this works and make sure you really stick to those transcription rules that we gave to you. And reach out to us if you have any questions, we're happy to help all right, so yeah I mess around with it get a hang of the keyboard shortcuts and have fun transcribing.
