Make a CUSTOM Stream STINGER Transition In Adobe After Effects [2020]

Here is the rewritten article:

Installing Adobe Media Encoder Extension in After Effects

To use Adobe Media Encoder with After Effects, we need to install the Adobe Media Encoder extension. This will allow us to export our footage in the WebM file format.

After installing the extension, go to File > Export and select Adobe Media Encoder Queue. This will open Adobe Media Encoder, where we can configure the export settings.

Configuring Adobe Media Encoder Settings

In Adobe Media Encoder, we need to select the output format as WebM. To do this, scroll down to the "Format" section and change it to WebM.

Next, we need to include the alpha channel in the export. Make sure to select this option.

We also want to use maximum render quality. Select this option to ensure the highest quality export.

Now, let's click on "Custom" again to customize the output folder. We can choose a specific location for our exported file and give it a name. Click "Save" to save these settings.

Clicking on the green arrow will start the export process. While it's exporting, we can close this window and move on to Streamlabs OBS.

Configuring Streamlabs OBS with Stinger Transition

Let's create a full-screen scene in Streamlabs OBS. We have two scenes here, so let's delete one of them to see the effect.

Now, let's click on the "Add Transition" icon and call it "Stinger." Select "Stinger" as the transition type.

Next, we need to set the duration of the stinger to 1.332 seconds. This is an important setting that will determine when the transition happens.

The transition point is also crucial, as it determines when Streamlabs OBS swaps the scenes. We want the transition to happen at a moment when the screen is completely filled with the stinger. Let's set the transition point to 800 milliseconds into the stinger.

Now, let's go back to After Effects and preview the stinger transition. Only this will be visible on stream, but as we watch from frame 40 to 60, everything should be filled with the transition. This is where Streamlabs OBS can swap these scenes seamlessly.

Let's save our changes and enable the transition. Clicking "Done" will activate the new transition.

Enabling Stinger Transition in After Effects

Now that we've configured the stinger transition in Streamlabs OBS, let's go back to After Effects to ensure it's working correctly.

Go to the "Transition" panel and click on the new stinger transition. This should enable the transition. Clicking "Done" will confirm the changes.

Congratulations! Our stinger transition is now set up and ready to use in Streamlabs OBS.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys welcome back to the channel i'm dvd nerd and in this video we will make a completely custom stinger transition i'm gonna be honest it's a pretty complicated process especially if you've never used after effects before but i will try to explain it as clear as i can i stream every monday wednesday and sometimes friday so if you want to talk to me on stream just go to my twitch channel the link will be here on the screen and in the description follow me and you will be able to catch me when i'm live and this video is sponsored by ontol tv they have the best graphics in the industry and they also have a lot of custom stinger transitions and they also have complete streaming packages all of their graphic packs are animated and can be installed in just a few clicks using their quick import file and one of the best things about the website is that they have a great preview which lets you test how things will look while streaming if you need graphics for your stream or you just need a stinger transition that looks good and that you don't have to create yourself you can check out their website i will link it on top of the description and then a quick question for you is there any streamer that according to you has the best stinger transition out of all these streamers if there's someone like that please comment it down below so i can get some inspiration for maybe a future tutorial if you have any problems with this stinger transition that i'm about to explain you can comment it down below or you can join our discord server because there are a lot of people there that are helping each other and that way you might get help really quickly we only need two programs to create this stinger transition one is after effects too well just created and then the other one is adobe media encoder which we will use to export it but both of these programs have trial versions and if you already used it i'm sure you can find another way to get to use the program so let's just start and let's just open after effects because we have a lot to do okay so it immediately asks us to open a project or create a new one and that's what we're gonna do click new project and it just opens but make sure that after doing something on the program you save it immediately because it isn't saved anywhere right now we cannot save it right now because we've not done anything yet so let's start with creating a new composition click right here and then make it 1920 by 1080 and 60 fps then right here i made it two seconds it saved from before because i was testing this transition so you can just make it 2 seconds because that will be the length of our transition click on ok it will create a new composition and we can right click rename and we can name it stinger ok so now we've done something so now we can save it so press ctrl s to save and then just choose a safe location so i will just do it right here in the method stinger tutorial save okay you can name it whatever you want and now you're safe every now and then you just press ctrl s to save it so you don't lose any progress so i will quickly show you what we're about to make let's go to open recent files and then let's open my previous file okay so this is what we will make so the white line opens on top of your gaming footage or whatever and then it opens with a gradient that has some animations on it and your logo and then it will just go away so i will play it so this is what we're about to make it looks really clean on stream so let's go back to the other project right here tutorial safe okay so let's just start make sure the stinger transition composition is opened right here right click click new and then click on solid now the color doesn't matter but you need to make sure that it's full screen so the width will be 1920 and then the height will be 1080 just click on ok and now it's full screen and now we need to add a gradient to it so on the right you will see effects and presets that's what we need if you don't see this you can go to window enable it right here and if you still can't find it you can go to workspace and then reset the full to save layout and that will reset your ui and you will definitely find it right here so then search for gradient and choose gradient ram let's drag this to our solid and now we need to choose two colors so my branding color is blue so i will choose a darker blue and then a lighter blue you can use whatever you want of course so distorting color let's say that this is my branding color something like this i will choose a darker version click on ok then click on the second the ant color right here the color picker let's click on this color picker and just pick the color that we selected before so our first color that's this one and then just make that one much lighter something like this click on ok we will make this one a bit darker so you can definitely see the difference and then we need to change linear ramp to radial ramp so it's a circle then i will have to invert it i will click swap colors because i want the middle one to be lighter but of course it's not in the middle right now so how do we fix this first of all make this store 1960 by 540 540 do the same for this 1960 by 540 and now you can choose this one right here and you can drag it and you can change it to choose how big the white circle should be but we are going to animate this so make it a bit too small so this is this would be perfect right something like this but we will make it smaller like this okay then make sure that your playhead is at the start of this composition right here so right here on the first frame and then we will keyframe the end of ramp right here so this keyframe will remember this value right here now we will drag this to the right to the end and then we will move this up to something like this so now when we play this back i will go to the start click on spacebar and then you see it has some kind of animation right now okay so that's the basic part right now we will add some glare effects so we will make some solids that we will blur and make a bit transparent and then make it move over this area right here to add some kind of glare effect so we will create a new solid right now so right click click on new click on solid make sure that it's white right now the color does matter so make it white and then we will choose as with 2500 okay and that's height we will choose something like let's say 500 okay click on ok and now we have something like this now we want to make it some kind of a glare effect so we have to do two steps for that so i will rename these things first so i will rename this right click and that's blue background okay so this is the blue background and then this is the glare one okay so make sure the glare one is selected press t on your keyboard to open the opacity controls and then make it seven percent opacity but now we have these harsh borders and we don't want that it's not a glare this way so make sure this is selected right here search for blur and then we want uh right here gaussian blur legacy so we drag this to our glare1 okay and then right here in the effects if you don't see this if you're right here in your folders when you click it on top you can choose effects controls if something else is right here you can click this arrow and then choose it and drop down right here so go to effects okay and then just add like 100 blurriness right here and then you see that it's kind of a glare effect so when i click on glare 1 and i press p to open the position you see that when you move this it's some glare but it's not visible enough so i will press t again and the opacity i will change this to 10 percent okay so now it's definitely visible and what we want to do now is we want to animate it so make sure you're at the start of your composition right here okay you click on glare 1 you press on p so the position opens and then you just move it to let's zoom a bit out when you hold your middle mouse button you can just drag this around or you can press the space bar and then drag it around with your left mouse button too so now let's change the position to something like this right here on the top okay so out of the screen right here then just click on this watch right here to add a keyframe and you can see right here this is the keyframe that we created so this will remember this position right here so make sure that it's at the start of the composition for the glare one then go to the last frame right here and then change this position and because we have a keyframe right here and we are at another position right here when we change this position you will see that it creates a new keyframe automatically and then we will move it to here so now this keyframe remembers this position and when we go back the first keyframe remember that position so when we play it right now you will see that it kind of moves like this but it's kind of linear the movement you see it's the same speed etc that's kind of boring so we want to change this so click the first keyframe right here then hold your shift button and then click that one so now both are selected and now we want to click on this icon right here to go to the graph editor okay and now what this is this is kind of complicated to explain to someone who's new to the program but you see right here this line this represents also the timeline you see and you see right here when we hover it you can see 822 pixels per second so that's the speed at which this is moving down so during this whole animation this object is moving at 822 pixels the whole time but we want to change this we want to make it fast in the beginning and then slow once it reaches the end so how do we do that right here it can stay at the speed but right here at the end we want to drag this down and before i go on make sure that right here you are in the edit speed graph or this will not work okay so you drag it a bit and then you will get these yellow borders or this yellow handles and you want to drag it completely to the left as far as you can it will cap at the middle and onto the bottom till it snaps to zero okay so right now this is kind of the speed at which this will move so it will be pretty slow first then it will go very fast right here at the top you see it goes three 3500 pixels per second okay so it goes very fast and then it kind of slows down towards the end so when we play it now you will see see it goes very fast first and then it goes very slow so this is better already and what we want to do now is we want to create a few of them but we don't need to do this whole process over again we can just click on glare 1 press ctrl d on our keyboard and that will just copy it and right now you see it's just overlaying it so the effect is just stronger but when i take this glare 2 and i move it for example to here you see the glare 1 starts first and then the glare 2 enters you see so this way you can add a few of them let's do something like this and then just play it and you see there are two glares right now what you can also do is let's go to here let's press on p to open the keyframes also for example let's drag it to here so we can see both the beginning and the end keyframe so by dragging this you can make the animation faster than the other one then when we drag it to the right it will start later but it will still finish faster you see right here because this is the end keyframe so that way you see when you move it this one starts but it slows down and the other one catches up and even finishes faster so this way you can kind of play around with these animations but of course this is kind of boring just from top to bottom so we will add another one or or let's just take this glare too right so let's just move this press r okay to open the rotation let's move it to the middle so we can kind of see it and then just rotate it something like this okay but of course now it still goes from top to bottom as you can see right here so we will need to change both of these keyframes now another tip we are constantly opening these settings by just pressing t for opacity or p4 position but when you press the u on your keyboard it will close everything first and then afterwards it will open everything that's keyframed so you see the position we changed the rotation we changed the opacity so all these things will open so then you can kind of see the keyframes right here and we want to change the start and the end position of the glare too so you see right here this is declare two this is the stored position right here this keyframe because you can see position right here this is the keyframe so we will just you can also drag it so we will just drag it to here and then the end position this keyframe we will drag this to here something like this and now let's see that it covers the whole screen so you see right here it still covers everything and then here too so that's perfect so right now we have this so this is already some kind of movement and now let's add one other one just like this glare 2 so diagonal and let's just press ctrl d to duplicate it and then i will go to scale so press s on my keyboard then disable this right here because otherwise it will change both of them so let's click this and now this way by dragging the second number you can make it much bigger so we will make it something like this okay let's make it start faster and now let's just see how this looks this is kind of good and now another thing we want to do is adding a flare and you can find free ones online i will show you a place where you can download it if it doesn't exist anymore when you watch this tutorial like one or two years in the future i can't predict that you will definitely find other flares online that are free they all work the same way but right now let me show you where you can definitely get one at the moment so let's go to the browser and let's go to free flare pack okay and then i think it's from premiumbeat yeah right here premium beats 17 free anamorphic lens flares i will link it in the description and you know if it doesn't exist anymore comment it down below so i can change the link in the description to another one that still works okay so let's scroll to the bottom and then right here you see download 17 free flares click on that and it will start downloading it's pretty big so you will have to wait a while but i will just cancel this because i already downloaded it so then we go back to after effects go back to project right here and then just let's import it let's right click right here click import file or you can just double click in a area okay then let's go to my edisc and then to stinger transition tutorial and right here i have it this is the folder you will have to unpack it first this is the unpacked version okay and here we have a bunch of flares and let's just take the second one right here let's import it drag it right here to the top of our composition and then let's rescale it because you see it's bigger than our composition i think it's 4k flares so in the scale we want to change this to 50 percent and that will just be right okay now of course these flare files are much longer than two seconds and it's a great time to show you kind of how the composition length works so i have this flare file right here right but it's much longer than this because we can drag it and you see it but let me show you right click right here on an empty area go to composition settings and instead of two seconds let's change this to one minute and two seconds click on ok and right now you see that right here we can make this bigger so you see the flare file was 30 seconds and this is the two seconds that we are working in so right now we can kind of move this playhead to find a good part in the flare to use in our transition so i really like this one because it goes across the screen as you see right here when i play it so this is a really good part to use so let's start it right here okay let's take this part so when you press ctrl shift and d on your keyboard you will split both files so you can just delete the first one and then just move it to here that's kind of easier then just right click again go to composition settings and just change this one to a zero to make it two seconds again click on ok and then we have our composition again now of course you don't have to do all this that i just showed it was just to show you how the composition length works you can just move this right here and keep scrolling right here because this composition doesn't cut off everything that's longer it just doesn't show it so you can grab this part and like drag it to the left and it will still have saved everything so let's move it to somewhere like here let's just do it as we intended so right here let's move this to the start okay and now the most important part of this flare we want to change the blending mode so you can actually see everything that's below it so let's right click it go to blending mode and then just go to add okay now we can reduce the opacity so press t on your keyboard while you are selecting this layer and reduce the opacity to something like i think i use 30 when testing so let's play this okay as you see right here this is the flare so we can make this a bit stronger if you if we want so 60 okay so this has a lot of movement right now so now that we created like this moving background it's time to add our logo on it if you have a logo just import it right here if you don't have one you can add text if you want you on the top you can just click on the t and then just add some text like the video nerd make it white make it in the middle etc it will definitely look good but i have a logo and a lot of people have that so i will just open it so let's double click right here go to my d file business tvn branding logo right here the white logo is what i want and then just drag it right here on top let's remove this text layer this was to test okay here is my logo i will press s to rescale it and just make it something like this and now this is important to make it kind of smooth because some people have static transitions where nothing is moving and that looks kind of dull so you want to make sure that as much elements as possible have some kind of movement so some kind of glare or like we did before the gradient that moves a bit or right now in this case we want to animate this logo a bit so we want to make it like a bit too small and then we want to keyframe the scale right there so make sure your playhead is at the start of the composition right you have a keyframe right here and then just move this to the end and then just increase the scale to something like this okay and then let's play this and you see there is some kind of movement in that now how much movement you want that's personal i think that this is a bit too much so i will make it start at 50 and that way the movement is a bit more subtle okay this already looks pretty good but now it's time to make this into a stinger transition and what we will be making is a line that moves to the top of the screen and then opens and reveals this right here and then we will make it disappear again and now before we go on all these files can just be placed in one composition so just select them all right click and then choose pre-compose right here okay let's call it blue background again let's click ok and now this is just one composition one file and this acts like a folder so you see it's one file but we can double click it and inside we have all the elements so we can change things here afterwards if we want and right here you also see we have two tabs right now the stinger file so that's the main composition and then the other composition we created the blue background let's close this it doesn't remove it it's just not showing right here let's right click right here go to new solid make it white make sure it's white and then the width will be a few pixels like 5 pixels wide because it's a line and then the height will be 1080 because that's our resolution that's 100 of the height click on ok and you see we have one line like this and this is perfect actually so right now this is our line we will want to animate this so let's click on s to open the scale right here then just click this so these two aren't linked and then we can change the height right here by changing this scale so make that zero percent so you don't see anything make sure you are at the start of your composition right here you have this white solid selected and make a keyframe for the scale then just go to like 20 frames and then change the scale to 100 so right now you see it opens you see i will remove this for a second you see this is the only thing people will be seeing on stream and then after this the lines will just open to the left and to the right but again this is kind of dull it doesn't have any animation we want to select both keyframes right here again go to the graph editor and just like before make it move fast in the beginning and then slow at the end so let's click on this take this white handle right here and then just move it as much as you can to the left and then make it snap to the bottom click it again and it's done now it goes fast first and then it goes kinda slow and then once it reaches the top nothing is happening anymore right so then we want the lines to open to the left and to the right so from this point on we actually need two lines one line to go to the left and one to the right so we can just press ctrl d to duplicate it and we can just leave them both right here they're just overlapping nobody is seeing anything else so we can just do it like this so once it opens right here on this keyframe only 20th frame we want to make it go open so now we want to make sure they are both selected click p on your keyboard to open the position settings make sure they are still both selected and add a keyframe okay they weren't but let's just add another one okay so we want to add a position keyframe for both of these lines and again select them both and press u on your keyboard they will close press u again and now you can see these scale keyframes because from now on we will be adding a bunch of keyframes and things can get complicated so if you don't know what some kind of keyframe right here is let's click it and then you can see on the left that this is from the position so these keyframes right here were from the scale so these were the ones that made it like stretch to the top and the bottom so once these keyframes are completed we now want to make it move to the right and to the left so from this point on we want to add a position keyframe so this locks the position and then like 20 frames further we can adjust this afterwards let's go 20 frames further right now now we want to move these to the left and to the right so let's click this one right here let's rename it and then just uh call it line left and now let's call the other one line right okay to keep everything clean so now this line left has a keyframe right here and then 20 frames further we want to move it to the left so make sure it barely leaves the screen okay okay right here you can see if you make this zero this is like the left border of your screen but the line is five pixels wide so you still see two and a half pixels right here you see so you can move it like let's say minus five this is okay then this line so the other line the line right this is the keyframe for this position 20 frames further you want to change this right here to this border and since it's 1920 pixels wide we can make it 1925 to add 5 pixels to it so it's like out of the screen like this so now when we play this i will just move to it slowly you see it connects to the top on the bottom once it's connected the lines will open like this so that's what we want this and this okay so this is our basic like stinger animation right here we will apply everything to this so right now let's make our blue background visible again because this is moving the background is moving etc but the line isn't revealing anything the lines are just moving so right now we want to make sure that in the start the blue background isn't visible at all and once the lines open it will reveal the blue background in the middle till it's completely visible and then the lines will like remove the background again afterwards so what we want to do we want to go to this keyframe right here because from here onwards things will start revealing so right here the blue background should be completely invisible and we will do this using a mask for those who don't know what it is select the blue background click on the pen tool right here and then let me show you so i will just make some kind of triangle and you see a mask hides everything that's outside of the mask you can then move things like this so this way you can kind of reveal things okay so let's go back ctrl z remove the mask okay so right now we want to add a mask on top of this white line so we will have to zoom in a lot so like this okay now add a point right here just because this is convenient then add a point right here and now the next point should be completely at the bottom like this okay so let's press ctrl z this was the last point now go to the bottom oops okay go to the bottom add one right here add the next one right here and now we go completely to the top so our blue background will only be visible inside of this mask right here and the white lines will be on top of that so you will not see it so let's press ctrl z this was the last point now let's add the point on top so let's move to the top right now okay this is pretty for okay let's zoom in and add the last one right here and now let's close it so right now all the blue background is only visible within this mask and let's hide these lines for a second because now you can see that the blue background is just a line so now let's show these lines again okay and what we now want to do is when these lines open we want to animate the mask on the blue background to make it also expand together with these blue lines so the animation of the blue line starts right here right so that's where we want a keyframe where we want to set the keyframe for the mask of this blue background okay so let's go to the blue background let's open this right here go to masks go to mask one and then right here mask path this is the animation of the mask so let's add a keyframe right here make sure you're on the position of the keyframes for the lines right so where the lines start moving outside if you don't see this click on the line right press u on your keyboard press it again and then all the keyframes will open and then you will be able to see it so right now we did add a keyframe right here for the mask of the blue background right on the position where the lines start to expand so right now we go to the end of the expansion of the lines and then we want to move this mask of the blue background to the same position as the lines so it moves along with them you will see what i mean once we did it so let's zoom in a bit let's zoom in a lot okay so right now we are on the end position right so the blue the white lines have animated to the sides right here the animation is done they are right here on their position on the right let's zoom in again okay so right now we want to go to the blue background masks mask path okay so right now you want to see if i want to move this i'm moving the whole mask let's press ctrl z so when moving lines of a mask or points of a mask you wanna instead of clicking on mask path or a mask you wanna click on mask right here so then you can move this whole line to the right let's move this whole line to the left again make sure you're on this position right here the end position of the lines okay and then we want to move it just completely to the left and this completely to the right and now we will make it perfect so the left side first click on the line left right here and then you will see that the line is right here right so here the line stops so then click on mask again and now you can drag this mask to the position of where the line was so let's click on the line again the line is right here then on the mask again and the mask stops within the line okay now you want to make sure that it's completely fills on the top and the bottom so with filling i mean like that it's not like this so you want to make sure that it's like this now do the right side let's go to here click on line right the line stops right here oops okay the line stops here so then we click on mask again and we animate the right side of the mask within the line click line right click mask it's within it that's perfect go to the top everything is right there's enough space go to the bottom and you see right here it's kind of not good so we move it to the bottom my vocabulary is not extensive enough to make these long tutorials okay and now everything will be right so right here you see the background is behind the white line and then on the left it's also behind the line so let's zoom out again and now this is working so this is already something now we see another i'm not sure if you see the flaw but you see right here the blue is already showing while the white lines are still animating on the stream so this is an easy fix when we see our keyframes right here from the lines right if you don't see it press u two times you see these keyframes it's animating and right here on this timestamp it's completely filling from top to bottom so right now you cannot see the blue anymore from the background because it's behind this white but before you can see it so the only thing we want to do is we want to go to this position where the white completely fills everything go to the blue background and then just drag it like this make sure you are not completely dragging it that's not what you want to do you just don't need this first part so you can drag it like this okay so right now you see the white line is completely showing then the blue shows up but you don't see it because it's behind the white line and everything opens this already looks pretty good right so after doing this what we want to do now is we want to make it like move for a bit and just don't touch it and then at one second we want to add the lines again so we want to add the white lines again in the middle and we want to make them go open to like instead of revealing to remove the blue from the screen and go to the next scene so while this screen is completely filled right now streamlabs obs or obs studio will be swapping these scenes nobody will be seeing that and then the lights will open again and you're in the next scene so right now we want to add these lines again to remove everything and this is kind of a complicated process altogether but let's select everything by pressing ctrl a press u on your keyboard and everything will close if it doesn't press it again and it will close so we have our background and we have our two lines right now we want to duplicate these lines right here so press ctrl d on your keyboard to duplicate them and let's move this to here so we have these lines and then the second lines okay so right now only one minute mark the lines have to open again so first of all the first thing you would think you should do is move it to here but that's not what we want to do because they were still animating right right here they were still animating to become full screen let's select these two lines right here press u on your keyboard and then you see these keyframes right here this is where it was full screen right so we only need it from this position so we can either drag this to here or we can select them both press ctrl shift d on our keyboard to split it and then delete this part delete this part and then this is the only thing we need so the lines being full screen and then opening up so this is what we need at the one minute mark so we will just select these two drag it to here okay so now the line goes like this it reveals everything scenes are swapping and then these lines open again and the blue should be removed now you don't have to keyframe or mask everything again don't worry we can use the same mask that we used before to open everything but now invert it to remove everything so how do we want to do that well it's actually pretty easy let's go to the blue background right here and press ctrl d on your keyboard so now we duplicated it we only need it from this part on so what we want to do is we take this part and we move it to here again do not move it or it will not work you want to move this border okay so right now this is working from this point on let's click on this one press ctrl shift d or take the handle right here so you can just split it delete this okay so right now from this blue background it swaps to this blue background but it's the same right now the next thing we want to do is we want to go to masks okay open everything mask path and this path so the mask going from the middle to the side we want to move this to here okay so to the start let's zoom out again because i think some people will be confused we still have this animation right here right so this blue background with the mask it's still the same as before it's just the second blue background that we created there we moved the mask to here so now this is going open right and now here it's doing it again but instead of opening it right here we need it to start while showing everything and then the mask needs to remove everything so an easy fix for that is just invert the mask so let's click invert so we have the first background that's still doing this and then the second background kicks in and this is an inverted one so it does this okay so now we have this this and that it's almost done we need to add the white lines from here and we need to add them to the closing oh no we already added them right i did it before when testing i did it and the other order so that's why i thought we still had to do it so we are kind of ready right now of course the timing is it's less than two seconds but actually it's okay let's preview it see i like this now you can play with the timing you can make it show on screen for a bit longer but a stinger transition should go pretty quickly so you actually don't need to extend this you can just make it stop right here so right here we will take this handle from the work area selector and then just select it to here 20 frames because that's where it ends right see this is where it ends and now we can go to composition and then trim come to work area and that's doing it like this so right now when we loop this you will see that it's a clean loop okay i really like this to be honest so you can change the colors to what you want you can change the logo if you want to change it right now when you're kind of confused what everything is you can open the blue background and since we duplicated this when you change the blue background right here you will also change this blue background so the second one so everything will change together it's just this comp right here if you want to change the color you can take this one right here this is the bottom one and you can just go to effects right here on top if you can see effects click these arrows and in these drop downs click effects and then you can just change the colors right here and that will just change your whole transition so it's as easy as this if you want to add sound to your transition that's very easy you can just go to free sounds search for something like whoosh take one that you want i'm just gonna download this one just quickly i don't have my headphones so i can't hear it but just search for one that you like download it then drag it to after effects to project right here release and then just add it to your timeline right here you have the sound and then you can just reposition it if you want a whoosh but for this transition like the lines a whoosh wouldn't really be applicable but it will be exported and added to the file in the end so now it's time to export this composition and i actually did a lot of testing for this so if you want to see these kind of behind the scenes things where i'm talking to my viewers and explaining them what i'm trying for the next video you can follow me on instagram and there i will set stories every day to show people what i'm doing with my videos what my plans are for the future things of that nature so if you're interested in that go follow my instagram and if you have problems with setting this up you can join our discord server we already have 700 community members it's growing every day so if you have a question go to the discord ask it there and there definitely will be people answering your question and if no one is answering it then i will come in and help you personally so if you want help go to our discord but now we will want to export this and it's not that easy because you cannot just export it you will have to make a webm file and for that we will need to install a plugin and another program called adobe media encoder there is a free trial for that program or you will be able to find it somewhere i'm sure you can so let's go ahead and download the extension that we need for this media encoder so go to the internet okay open a new tab and then paste this link i will add it to the description just go to that link download it for windows or mac whatever you're using and install this and then you will have this extension installed so after that in after effects we want to go to file export and then adobe media encoder queue click that and then after effects will open adobe media encoder and that's the program that will export our footage in the webm file format and that's what we just installed so right here you see on the bottom it's opening media encoder right here it's still empty but it will start to import right here so now once after effects imported it right here you want to click on this link right here to change it to webm so the format we just downloaded and installed so right here the format scroll down and change it to webm right here perfect and then in these settings you want to scroll down and you want to search for here include alpha channel you definitely want to select this select use maximum render quality click on ok oh yeah and i forgot let's click on custom again and right here you can change the output folder so click on that go to the folder you want to save it in give it a name click save click ok and then just click on the green arrow and then it will start exporting and while it's exporting let me just close this and start streamlabs obs so i can show you how to implement the stinger so it's finished as i saw so we can just make this full screen we have two scenes right here let's delete this so you can see the effect of both scenes okay now let's click on this icon right here click add transition call it stinger change the type to stinger okay the duration set this to 1332 i will explain why later then the video file click on browse choose the stinger that we just exported okay and then the transition point is very important so first of all the duration this is just the complete duration of the whole stinger and streamlabs obs needs this to make sure everything fits right and the transition happens at the right point etc so 1 32 milliseconds does the complete duration of our stinger and then the transition point is the moment at which streamless obs will be swapping the scenes so that should be a moment in the stinger transition when the screen is completely filled so let's go to after effects and we see right here only this is visible on stream so then it expands and right now from the 40th frame till the 60th frame everything is filled with this transition so between that time frame streamlabs obs can swap these scenes so let's say somewhere right here 800 milliseconds is when the transition could happen so let's change this to 800 and then just click on done now click on this to enable this transition click on done and now our stinger transition will be used to swap these scenes as you see it works very well so that was everything for this stinger transition if you want to talk to me on stream i stream monday wednesday and sometimes friday i will link my twitch channel in the description and show it on the screen somewhere right here so you can go give me a follow and catch me online when i'm live again if you have any questions about this join our discord server a lot of people are helping each other if you want behind the scenes follow me on instagram because i play stories about what i'm doing for future videos what my plans are with the channel things i realized about streaming i want to share with the community i also do some of those things on twitter so you can also follow me there and thanks again to our sponsor onto tv for sponsoring this video if you need a custom stinger transition you can find them in the description they have a lot of high quality animated stingers if you need any help with setting up your stream in streamlabs obs or obs studio or setting up a chatbot all those things i have playlists for that so you can check in the description there are playlists for all aspects of streaming there's a lot of information in there right here i will link the streamlabs obs playlist the obs studio playlist a lot of tutorials are in there go to there if you need any help with those programs and i will see you in the next video have a nice dayhey guys welcome back to the channel i'm dvd nerd and in this video we will make a completely custom stinger transition i'm gonna be honest it's a pretty complicated process especially if you've never used after effects before but i will try to explain it as clear as i can i stream every monday wednesday and sometimes friday so if you want to talk to me on stream just go to my twitch channel the link will be here on the screen and in the description follow me and you will be able to catch me when i'm live and this video is sponsored by ontol tv they have the best graphics in the industry and they also have a lot of custom stinger transitions and they also have complete streaming packages all of their graphic packs are animated and can be installed in just a few clicks using their quick import file and one of the best things about the website is that they have a great preview which lets you test how things will look while streaming if you need graphics for your stream or you just need a stinger transition that looks good and that you don't have to create yourself you can check out their website i will link it on top of the description and then a quick question for you is there any streamer that according to you has the best stinger transition out of all these streamers if there's someone like that please comment it down below so i can get some inspiration for maybe a future tutorial if you have any problems with this stinger transition that i'm about to explain you can comment it down below or you can join our discord server because there are a lot of people there that are helping each other and that way you might get help really quickly we only need two programs to create this stinger transition one is after effects too well just created and then the other one is adobe media encoder which we will use to export it but both of these programs have trial versions and if you already used it i'm sure you can find another way to get to use the program so let's just start and let's just open after effects because we have a lot to do okay so it immediately asks us to open a project or create a new one and that's what we're gonna do click new project and it just opens but make sure that after doing something on the program you save it immediately because it isn't saved anywhere right now we cannot save it right now because we've not done anything yet so let's start with creating a new composition click right here and then make it 1920 by 1080 and 60 fps then right here i made it two seconds it saved from before because i was testing this transition so you can just make it 2 seconds because that will be the length of our transition click on ok it will create a new composition and we can right click rename and we can name it stinger ok so now we've done something so now we can save it so press ctrl s to save and then just choose a safe location so i will just do it right here in the method stinger tutorial save okay you can name it whatever you want and now you're safe every now and then you just press ctrl s to save it so you don't lose any progress so i will quickly show you what we're about to make let's go to open recent files and then let's open my previous file okay so this is what we will make so the white line opens on top of your gaming footage or whatever and then it opens with a gradient that has some animations on it and your logo and then it will just go away so i will play it so this is what we're about to make it looks really clean on stream so let's go back to the other project right here tutorial safe okay so let's just start make sure the stinger transition composition is opened right here right click click new and then click on solid now the color doesn't matter but you need to make sure that it's full screen so the width will be 1920 and then the height will be 1080 just click on ok and now it's full screen and now we need to add a gradient to it so on the right you will see effects and presets that's what we need if you don't see this you can go to window enable it right here and if you still can't find it you can go to workspace and then reset the full to save layout and that will reset your ui and you will definitely find it right here so then search for gradient and choose gradient ram let's drag this to our solid and now we need to choose two colors so my branding color is blue so i will choose a darker blue and then a lighter blue you can use whatever you want of course so distorting color let's say that this is my branding color something like this i will choose a darker version click on ok then click on the second the ant color right here the color picker let's click on this color picker and just pick the color that we selected before so our first color that's this one and then just make that one much lighter something like this click on ok we will make this one a bit darker so you can definitely see the difference and then we need to change linear ramp to radial ramp so it's a circle then i will have to invert it i will click swap colors because i want the middle one to be lighter but of course it's not in the middle right now so how do we fix this first of all make this store 1960 by 540 540 do the same for this 1960 by 540 and now you can choose this one right here and you can drag it and you can change it to choose how big the white circle should be but we are going to animate this so make it a bit too small so this is this would be perfect right something like this but we will make it smaller like this okay then make sure that your playhead is at the start of this composition right here so right here on the first frame and then we will keyframe the end of ramp right here so this keyframe will remember this value right here now we will drag this to the right to the end and then we will move this up to something like this so now when we play this back i will go to the start click on spacebar and then you see it has some kind of animation right now okay so that's the basic part right now we will add some glare effects so we will make some solids that we will blur and make a bit transparent and then make it move over this area right here to add some kind of glare effect so we will create a new solid right now so right click click on new click on solid make sure that it's white right now the color does matter so make it white and then we will choose as with 2500 okay and that's height we will choose something like let's say 500 okay click on ok and now we have something like this now we want to make it some kind of a glare effect so we have to do two steps for that so i will rename these things first so i will rename this right click and that's blue background okay so this is the blue background and then this is the glare one okay so make sure the glare one is selected press t on your keyboard to open the opacity controls and then make it seven percent opacity but now we have these harsh borders and we don't want that it's not a glare this way so make sure this is selected right here search for blur and then we want uh right here gaussian blur legacy so we drag this to our glare1 okay and then right here in the effects if you don't see this if you're right here in your folders when you click it on top you can choose effects controls if something else is right here you can click this arrow and then choose it and drop down right here so go to effects okay and then just add like 100 blurriness right here and then you see that it's kind of a glare effect so when i click on glare 1 and i press p to open the position you see that when you move this it's some glare but it's not visible enough so i will press t again and the opacity i will change this to 10 percent okay so now it's definitely visible and what we want to do now is we want to animate it so make sure you're at the start of your composition right here okay you click on glare 1 you press on p so the position opens and then you just move it to let's zoom a bit out when you hold your middle mouse button you can just drag this around or you can press the space bar and then drag it around with your left mouse button too so now let's change the position to something like this right here on the top okay so out of the screen right here then just click on this watch right here to add a keyframe and you can see right here this is the keyframe that we created so this will remember this position right here so make sure that it's at the start of the composition for the glare one then go to the last frame right here and then change this position and because we have a keyframe right here and we are at another position right here when we change this position you will see that it creates a new keyframe automatically and then we will move it to here so now this keyframe remembers this position and when we go back the first keyframe remember that position so when we play it right now you will see that it kind of moves like this but it's kind of linear the movement you see it's the same speed etc that's kind of boring so we want to change this so click the first keyframe right here then hold your shift button and then click that one so now both are selected and now we want to click on this icon right here to go to the graph editor okay and now what this is this is kind of complicated to explain to someone who's new to the program but you see right here this line this represents also the timeline you see and you see right here when we hover it you can see 822 pixels per second so that's the speed at which this is moving down so during this whole animation this object is moving at 822 pixels the whole time but we want to change this we want to make it fast in the beginning and then slow once it reaches the end so how do we do that right here it can stay at the speed but right here at the end we want to drag this down and before i go on make sure that right here you are in the edit speed graph or this will not work okay so you drag it a bit and then you will get these yellow borders or this yellow handles and you want to drag it completely to the left as far as you can it will cap at the middle and onto the bottom till it snaps to zero okay so right now this is kind of the speed at which this will move so it will be pretty slow first then it will go very fast right here at the top you see it goes three 3500 pixels per second okay so it goes very fast and then it kind of slows down towards the end so when we play it now you will see see it goes very fast first and then it goes very slow so this is better already and what we want to do now is we want to create a few of them but we don't need to do this whole process over again we can just click on glare 1 press ctrl d on our keyboard and that will just copy it and right now you see it's just overlaying it so the effect is just stronger but when i take this glare 2 and i move it for example to here you see the glare 1 starts first and then the glare 2 enters you see so this way you can add a few of them let's do something like this and then just play it and you see there are two glares right now what you can also do is let's go to here let's press on p to open the keyframes also for example let's drag it to here so we can see both the beginning and the end keyframe so by dragging this you can make the animation faster than the other one then when we drag it to the right it will start later but it will still finish faster you see right here because this is the end keyframe so that way you see when you move it this one starts but it slows down and the other one catches up and even finishes faster so this way you can kind of play around with these animations but of course this is kind of boring just from top to bottom so we will add another one or or let's just take this glare too right so let's just move this press r okay to open the rotation let's move it to the middle so we can kind of see it and then just rotate it something like this okay but of course now it still goes from top to bottom as you can see right here so we will need to change both of these keyframes now another tip we are constantly opening these settings by just pressing t for opacity or p4 position but when you press the u on your keyboard it will close everything first and then afterwards it will open everything that's keyframed so you see the position we changed the rotation we changed the opacity so all these things will open so then you can kind of see the keyframes right here and we want to change the start and the end position of the glare too so you see right here this is declare two this is the stored position right here this keyframe because you can see position right here this is the keyframe so we will just you can also drag it so we will just drag it to here and then the end position this keyframe we will drag this to here something like this and now let's see that it covers the whole screen so you see right here it still covers everything and then here too so that's perfect so right now we have this so this is already some kind of movement and now let's add one other one just like this glare 2 so diagonal and let's just press ctrl d to duplicate it and then i will go to scale so press s on my keyboard then disable this right here because otherwise it will change both of them so let's click this and now this way by dragging the second number you can make it much bigger so we will make it something like this okay let's make it start faster and now let's just see how this looks this is kind of good and now another thing we want to do is adding a flare and you can find free ones online i will show you a place where you can download it if it doesn't exist anymore when you watch this tutorial like one or two years in the future i can't predict that you will definitely find other flares online that are free they all work the same way but right now let me show you where you can definitely get one at the moment so let's go to the browser and let's go to free flare pack okay and then i think it's from premiumbeat yeah right here premium beats 17 free anamorphic lens flares i will link it in the description and you know if it doesn't exist anymore comment it down below so i can change the link in the description to another one that still works okay so let's scroll to the bottom and then right here you see download 17 free flares click on that and it will start downloading it's pretty big so you will have to wait a while but i will just cancel this because i already downloaded it so then we go back to after effects go back to project right here and then just let's import it let's right click right here click import file or you can just double click in a area okay then let's go to my edisc and then to stinger transition tutorial and right here i have it this is the folder you will have to unpack it first this is the unpacked version okay and here we have a bunch of flares and let's just take the second one right here let's import it drag it right here to the top of our composition and then let's rescale it because you see it's bigger than our composition i think it's 4k flares so in the scale we want to change this to 50 percent and that will just be right okay now of course these flare files are much longer than two seconds and it's a great time to show you kind of how the composition length works so i have this flare file right here right but it's much longer than this because we can drag it and you see it but let me show you right click right here on an empty area go to composition settings and instead of two seconds let's change this to one minute and two seconds click on ok and right now you see that right here we can make this bigger so you see the flare file was 30 seconds and this is the two seconds that we are working in so right now we can kind of move this playhead to find a good part in the flare to use in our transition so i really like this one because it goes across the screen as you see right here when i play it so this is a really good part to use so let's start it right here okay let's take this part so when you press ctrl shift and d on your keyboard you will split both files so you can just delete the first one and then just move it to here that's kind of easier then just right click again go to composition settings and just change this one to a zero to make it two seconds again click on ok and then we have our composition again now of course you don't have to do all this that i just showed it was just to show you how the composition length works you can just move this right here and keep scrolling right here because this composition doesn't cut off everything that's longer it just doesn't show it so you can grab this part and like drag it to the left and it will still have saved everything so let's move it to somewhere like here let's just do it as we intended so right here let's move this to the start okay and now the most important part of this flare we want to change the blending mode so you can actually see everything that's below it so let's right click it go to blending mode and then just go to add okay now we can reduce the opacity so press t on your keyboard while you are selecting this layer and reduce the opacity to something like i think i use 30 when testing so let's play this okay as you see right here this is the flare so we can make this a bit stronger if you if we want so 60 okay so this has a lot of movement right now so now that we created like this moving background it's time to add our logo on it if you have a logo just import it right here if you don't have one you can add text if you want you on the top you can just click on the t and then just add some text like the video nerd make it white make it in the middle etc it will definitely look good but i have a logo and a lot of people have that so i will just open it so let's double click right here go to my d file business tvn branding logo right here the white logo is what i want and then just drag it right here on top let's remove this text layer this was to test okay here is my logo i will press s to rescale it and just make it something like this and now this is important to make it kind of smooth because some people have static transitions where nothing is moving and that looks kind of dull so you want to make sure that as much elements as possible have some kind of movement so some kind of glare or like we did before the gradient that moves a bit or right now in this case we want to animate this logo a bit so we want to make it like a bit too small and then we want to keyframe the scale right there so make sure your playhead is at the start of the composition right you have a keyframe right here and then just move this to the end and then just increase the scale to something like this okay and then let's play this and you see there is some kind of movement in that now how much movement you want that's personal i think that this is a bit too much so i will make it start at 50 and that way the movement is a bit more subtle okay this already looks pretty good but now it's time to make this into a stinger transition and what we will be making is a line that moves to the top of the screen and then opens and reveals this right here and then we will make it disappear again and now before we go on all these files can just be placed in one composition so just select them all right click and then choose pre-compose right here okay let's call it blue background again let's click ok and now this is just one composition one file and this acts like a folder so you see it's one file but we can double click it and inside we have all the elements so we can change things here afterwards if we want and right here you also see we have two tabs right now the stinger file so that's the main composition and then the other composition we created the blue background let's close this it doesn't remove it it's just not showing right here let's right click right here go to new solid make it white make sure it's white and then the width will be a few pixels like 5 pixels wide because it's a line and then the height will be 1080 because that's our resolution that's 100 of the height click on ok and you see we have one line like this and this is perfect actually so right now this is our line we will want to animate this so let's click on s to open the scale right here then just click this so these two aren't linked and then we can change the height right here by changing this scale so make that zero percent so you don't see anything make sure you are at the start of your composition right here you have this white solid selected and make a keyframe for the scale then just go to like 20 frames and then change the scale to 100 so right now you see it opens you see i will remove this for a second you see this is the only thing people will be seeing on stream and then after this the lines will just open to the left and to the right but again this is kind of dull it doesn't have any animation we want to select both keyframes right here again go to the graph editor and just like before make it move fast in the beginning and then slow at the end so let's click on this take this white handle right here and then just move it as much as you can to the left and then make it snap to the bottom click it again and it's done now it goes fast first and then it goes kinda slow and then once it reaches the top nothing is happening anymore right so then we want the lines to open to the left and to the right so from this point on we actually need two lines one line to go to the left and one to the right so we can just press ctrl d to duplicate it and we can just leave them both right here they're just overlapping nobody is seeing anything else so we can just do it like this so once it opens right here on this keyframe only 20th frame we want to make it go open so now we want to make sure they are both selected click p on your keyboard to open the position settings make sure they are still both selected and add a keyframe okay they weren't but let's just add another one okay so we want to add a position keyframe for both of these lines and again select them both and press u on your keyboard they will close press u again and now you can see these scale keyframes because from now on we will be adding a bunch of keyframes and things can get complicated so if you don't know what some kind of keyframe right here is let's click it and then you can see on the left that this is from the position so these keyframes right here were from the scale so these were the ones that made it like stretch to the top and the bottom so once these keyframes are completed we now want to make it move to the right and to the left so from this point on we want to add a position keyframe so this locks the position and then like 20 frames further we can adjust this afterwards let's go 20 frames further right now now we want to move these to the left and to the right so let's click this one right here let's rename it and then just uh call it line left and now let's call the other one line right okay to keep everything clean so now this line left has a keyframe right here and then 20 frames further we want to move it to the left so make sure it barely leaves the screen okay okay right here you can see if you make this zero this is like the left border of your screen but the line is five pixels wide so you still see two and a half pixels right here you see so you can move it like let's say minus five this is okay then this line so the other line the line right this is the keyframe for this position 20 frames further you want to change this right here to this border and since it's 1920 pixels wide we can make it 1925 to add 5 pixels to it so it's like out of the screen like this so now when we play this i will just move to it slowly you see it connects to the top on the bottom once it's connected the lines will open like this so that's what we want this and this okay so this is our basic like stinger animation right here we will apply everything to this so right now let's make our blue background visible again because this is moving the background is moving etc but the line isn't revealing anything the lines are just moving so right now we want to make sure that in the start the blue background isn't visible at all and once the lines open it will reveal the blue background in the middle till it's completely visible and then the lines will like remove the background again afterwards so what we want to do we want to go to this keyframe right here because from here onwards things will start revealing so right here the blue background should be completely invisible and we will do this using a mask for those who don't know what it is select the blue background click on the pen tool right here and then let me show you so i will just make some kind of triangle and you see a mask hides everything that's outside of the mask you can then move things like this so this way you can kind of reveal things okay so let's go back ctrl z remove the mask okay so right now we want to add a mask on top of this white line so we will have to zoom in a lot so like this okay now add a point right here just because this is convenient then add a point right here and now the next point should be completely at the bottom like this okay so let's press ctrl z this was the last point now go to the bottom oops okay go to the bottom add one right here add the next one right here and now we go completely to the top so our blue background will only be visible inside of this mask right here and the white lines will be on top of that so you will not see it so let's press ctrl z this was the last point now let's add the point on top so let's move to the top right now okay this is pretty for okay let's zoom in and add the last one right here and now let's close it so right now all the blue background is only visible within this mask and let's hide these lines for a second because now you can see that the blue background is just a line so now let's show these lines again okay and what we now want to do is when these lines open we want to animate the mask on the blue background to make it also expand together with these blue lines so the animation of the blue line starts right here right so that's where we want a keyframe where we want to set the keyframe for the mask of this blue background okay so let's go to the blue background let's open this right here go to masks go to mask one and then right here mask path this is the animation of the mask so let's add a keyframe right here make sure you're on the position of the keyframes for the lines right so where the lines start moving outside if you don't see this click on the line right press u on your keyboard press it again and then all the keyframes will open and then you will be able to see it so right now we did add a keyframe right here for the mask of the blue background right on the position where the lines start to expand so right now we go to the end of the expansion of the lines and then we want to move this mask of the blue background to the same position as the lines so it moves along with them you will see what i mean once we did it so let's zoom in a bit let's zoom in a lot okay so right now we are on the end position right so the blue the white lines have animated to the sides right here the animation is done they are right here on their position on the right let's zoom in again okay so right now we want to go to the blue background masks mask path okay so right now you want to see if i want to move this i'm moving the whole mask let's press ctrl z so when moving lines of a mask or points of a mask you wanna instead of clicking on mask path or a mask you wanna click on mask right here so then you can move this whole line to the right let's move this whole line to the left again make sure you're on this position right here the end position of the lines okay and then we want to move it just completely to the left and this completely to the right and now we will make it perfect so the left side first click on the line left right here and then you will see that the line is right here right so here the line stops so then click on mask again and now you can drag this mask to the position of where the line was so let's click on the line again the line is right here then on the mask again and the mask stops within the line okay now you want to make sure that it's completely fills on the top and the bottom so with filling i mean like that it's not like this so you want to make sure that it's like this now do the right side let's go to here click on line right the line stops right here oops okay the line stops here so then we click on mask again and we animate the right side of the mask within the line click line right click mask it's within it that's perfect go to the top everything is right there's enough space go to the bottom and you see right here it's kind of not good so we move it to the bottom my vocabulary is not extensive enough to make these long tutorials okay and now everything will be right so right here you see the background is behind the white line and then on the left it's also behind the line so let's zoom out again and now this is working so this is already something now we see another i'm not sure if you see the flaw but you see right here the blue is already showing while the white lines are still animating on the stream so this is an easy fix when we see our keyframes right here from the lines right if you don't see it press u two times you see these keyframes it's animating and right here on this timestamp it's completely filling from top to bottom so right now you cannot see the blue anymore from the background because it's behind this white but before you can see it so the only thing we want to do is we want to go to this position where the white completely fills everything go to the blue background and then just drag it like this make sure you are not completely dragging it that's not what you want to do you just don't need this first part so you can drag it like this okay so right now you see the white line is completely showing then the blue shows up but you don't see it because it's behind the white line and everything opens this already looks pretty good right so after doing this what we want to do now is we want to make it like move for a bit and just don't touch it and then at one second we want to add the lines again so we want to add the white lines again in the middle and we want to make them go open to like instead of revealing to remove the blue from the screen and go to the next scene so while this screen is completely filled right now streamlabs obs or obs studio will be swapping these scenes nobody will be seeing that and then the lights will open again and you're in the next scene so right now we want to add these lines again to remove everything and this is kind of a complicated process altogether but let's select everything by pressing ctrl a press u on your keyboard and everything will close if it doesn't press it again and it will close so we have our background and we have our two lines right now we want to duplicate these lines right here so press ctrl d on your keyboard to duplicate them and let's move this to here so we have these lines and then the second lines okay so right now only one minute mark the lines have to open again so first of all the first thing you would think you should do is move it to here but that's not what we want to do because they were still animating right right here they were still animating to become full screen let's select these two lines right here press u on your keyboard and then you see these keyframes right here this is where it was full screen right so we only need it from this position so we can either drag this to here or we can select them both press ctrl shift d on our keyboard to split it and then delete this part delete this part and then this is the only thing we need so the lines being full screen and then opening up so this is what we need at the one minute mark so we will just select these two drag it to here okay so now the line goes like this it reveals everything scenes are swapping and then these lines open again and the blue should be removed now you don't have to keyframe or mask everything again don't worry we can use the same mask that we used before to open everything but now invert it to remove everything so how do we want to do that well it's actually pretty easy let's go to the blue background right here and press ctrl d on your keyboard so now we duplicated it we only need it from this part on so what we want to do is we take this part and we move it to here again do not move it or it will not work you want to move this border okay so right now this is working from this point on let's click on this one press ctrl shift d or take the handle right here so you can just split it delete this okay so right now from this blue background it swaps to this blue background but it's the same right now the next thing we want to do is we want to go to masks okay open everything mask path and this path so the mask going from the middle to the side we want to move this to here okay so to the start let's zoom out again because i think some people will be confused we still have this animation right here right so this blue background with the mask it's still the same as before it's just the second blue background that we created there we moved the mask to here so now this is going open right and now here it's doing it again but instead of opening it right here we need it to start while showing everything and then the mask needs to remove everything so an easy fix for that is just invert the mask so let's click invert so we have the first background that's still doing this and then the second background kicks in and this is an inverted one so it does this okay so now we have this this and that it's almost done we need to add the white lines from here and we need to add them to the closing oh no we already added them right i did it before when testing i did it and the other order so that's why i thought we still had to do it so we are kind of ready right now of course the timing is it's less than two seconds but actually it's okay let's preview it see i like this now you can play with the timing you can make it show on screen for a bit longer but a stinger transition should go pretty quickly so you actually don't need to extend this you can just make it stop right here so right here we will take this handle from the work area selector and then just select it to here 20 frames because that's where it ends right see this is where it ends and now we can go to composition and then trim come to work area and that's doing it like this so right now when we loop this you will see that it's a clean loop okay i really like this to be honest so you can change the colors to what you want you can change the logo if you want to change it right now when you're kind of confused what everything is you can open the blue background and since we duplicated this when you change the blue background right here you will also change this blue background so the second one so everything will change together it's just this comp right here if you want to change the color you can take this one right here this is the bottom one and you can just go to effects right here on top if you can see effects click these arrows and in these drop downs click effects and then you can just change the colors right here and that will just change your whole transition so it's as easy as this if you want to add sound to your transition that's very easy you can just go to free sounds search for something like whoosh take one that you want i'm just gonna download this one just quickly i don't have my headphones so i can't hear it but just search for one that you like download it then drag it to after effects to project right here release and then just add it to your timeline right here you have the sound and then you can just reposition it if you want a whoosh but for this transition like the lines a whoosh wouldn't really be applicable but it will be exported and added to the file in the end so now it's time to export this composition and i actually did a lot of testing for this so if you want to see these kind of behind the scenes things where i'm talking to my viewers and explaining them what i'm trying for the next video you can follow me on instagram and there i will set stories every day to show people what i'm doing with my videos what my plans are for the future things of that nature so if you're interested in that go follow my instagram and if you have problems with setting this up you can join our discord server we already have 700 community members it's growing every day so if you have a question go to the discord ask it there and there definitely will be people answering your question and if no one is answering it then i will come in and help you personally so if you want help go to our discord but now we will want to export this and it's not that easy because you cannot just export it you will have to make a webm file and for that we will need to install a plugin and another program called adobe media encoder there is a free trial for that program or you will be able to find it somewhere i'm sure you can so let's go ahead and download the extension that we need for this media encoder so go to the internet okay open a new tab and then paste this link i will add it to the description just go to that link download it for windows or mac whatever you're using and install this and then you will have this extension installed so after that in after effects we want to go to file export and then adobe media encoder queue click that and then after effects will open adobe media encoder and that's the program that will export our footage in the webm file format and that's what we just installed so right here you see on the bottom it's opening media encoder right here it's still empty but it will start to import right here so now once after effects imported it right here you want to click on this link right here to change it to webm so the format we just downloaded and installed so right here the format scroll down and change it to webm right here perfect and then in these settings you want to scroll down and you want to search for here include alpha channel you definitely want to select this select use maximum render quality click on ok oh yeah and i forgot let's click on custom again and right here you can change the output folder so click on that go to the folder you want to save it in give it a name click save click ok and then just click on the green arrow and then it will start exporting and while it's exporting let me just close this and start streamlabs obs so i can show you how to implement the stinger so it's finished as i saw so we can just make this full screen we have two scenes right here let's delete this so you can see the effect of both scenes okay now let's click on this icon right here click add transition call it stinger change the type to stinger okay the duration set this to 1332 i will explain why later then the video file click on browse choose the stinger that we just exported okay and then the transition point is very important so first of all the duration this is just the complete duration of the whole stinger and streamlabs obs needs this to make sure everything fits right and the transition happens at the right point etc so 1 32 milliseconds does the complete duration of our stinger and then the transition point is the moment at which streamless obs will be swapping the scenes so that should be a moment in the stinger transition when the screen is completely filled so let's go to after effects and we see right here only this is visible on stream so then it expands and right now from the 40th frame till the 60th frame everything is filled with this transition so between that time frame streamlabs obs can swap these scenes so let's say somewhere right here 800 milliseconds is when the transition could happen so let's change this to 800 and then just click on done now click on this to enable this transition click on done and now our stinger transition will be used to swap these scenes as you see it works very well so that was everything for this stinger transition if you want to talk to me on stream i stream monday wednesday and sometimes friday i will link my twitch channel in the description and show it on the screen somewhere right here so you can go give me a follow and catch me online when i'm live again if you have any questions about this join our discord server a lot of people are helping each other if you want behind the scenes follow me on instagram because i play stories about what i'm doing for future videos what my plans are with the channel things i realized about streaming i want to share with the community i also do some of those things on twitter so you can also follow me there and thanks again to our sponsor onto tv for sponsoring this video if you need a custom stinger transition you can find them in the description they have a lot of high quality animated stingers if you need any help with
