year,we do have two differenttype of foldables.The Flip 4 is a smartphone,which folds in halfand the Fold 4 is a smartphonewhich folds out into a tablet.And spoiler alert, lot ofthe updates are incrementalbut we do have some really cool features,which we'll be covering in this video.And hopefully, by the endof this video, you'll knowwhether one of thesedevices is right for you.Let's initially start offwith the build and the design.So both devices do look quite similarcompared to what we had last year.And they also have a similarfootprint, the Z Flip 4which I'm just going to call the Flip 4.And I'm going to call the Fold the Fold 4,rather than the Zed or the Zee.I'm not sure why Samsunghaven't still dropped this.But anyway, the Flip 4 hasa matte finish on the backwith a glossy frame.Last year, we had a matteframe with glossy backsacross most of the colors,apart from the blackand it's available in fourcolors: the graphite, pink goldBora purple as well as a blue.Now the special thing about the Flip 4is that you can have a bespoke edition.So you can customize the different framesand the different colors that you want,to really make it your own.This is exclusively on mention that.Don't forget to use thatif you are pre-ordering one or the other.With the Fold 4, once again,the design is quite familiar.We have three colors: aPhantom black, a gray/greenwhich is the flagship, as well as a beige.Now the Fold 4 actually weighsless compared to the Fold 3.And it's also a little bit shorter,while keeping the same width.So it is, overall, alittle bit more compact.And both devices areusing premium materials.We've got Armor aluminum for the framesand we've got Gorilla GlassVictus + for the glass.Now last year we had Gorilla Glass Victus.So these are a little bit more durable.And the foldable displays,the Ultra Thin Glass that Samsung call ithave also been improved.So they are supposed to bea little bit more durable.But I'd say the most importantthing about both of theseis that the Fold and the Flip seriesare still the only foldable smartphonesthat have an official IPX8water-resistant rating.This was initiallyintroduced with the Flip 3and the Fold 3, but it meansthat you can use these out in the rainand you're not going tohave to worry about them.And you can also do this if you want.(dramatic music)I got a little bit carriedaway in my Fold 3 reviewwhich you can check out in the cards.But anyway, it is reallynice to have water-resistanceon these devices.Of course there is no dust-resistance,dust particles can still get in.So you will have to be a littlebit more careful with thesethan you would have to dowith a regular smartphone.Right, now let's talk about the display.So both devices have a cover displayas well as the foldable display.So on the Flip 4we have the same size1.9 inch cover screen.This is going to allow youto have lots of previewsand control lots of different widgets.However, we do have enhancedfeatures on this cover display.So you can now not onlycheck notificationsbut you can also reply usingspeech text and emojis.And we also have new featureslike the Samsung walletcover screen experience.So this is going to allow you to switchbetween different credit cards and thingswithout having to unfold thedevice, which is really nice.The Fold 4 has a 6.2 inch cover display.And although the width ofthe device is the same,the cover display is aroundthree millimeters wider.Now this is becausewe've got smaller bezelsand it does allow you fora little bit more room.Now, one of my biggestcomplaints with the Fold 3was that the cover displaywas just a bit too narrow.So when you did want toquickly type somethingwithout opening it up, thenit was a bit of a struggle.Yes, you can use swipe to typebut I generally just like tohave that quick access anyway.Now yes, the extra threemillimeters does help somewhat.And I did try typing on theFold 4, which was pretty good.However, I would've liked it to have beenslightly more wider.That's me.Anyway, we still have 120Hertz from that cover display,which is really nice.But of course the mainthing about these devicesis when you unfold them toreveal the foldable displays.So on the Flip 4, we have a 6.7 inchfull HD plus AMOLED displaywith 120 Hertz refresh rates.Once again, we do haveslightly smaller bezelscompared to the Flip 3.And the Fold 4 has a massive7.6 inch edge-to-edgedynamic AMOLED 2X, 120 Hertz display.Now don't let the size things fool you.Because of the different aspect ratioyou are getting much more real estate.When the device is unfoldedand it's again an uninterrupted display.So you don't have a punch out or anything.You're going to get thatfull screen experience.And that's because we havean under-display camera.This was initiallyintroduced with the Fold 3but it has been improvedand you can't see as much as the Fold 3.You can still see it,especially if there's somethingwhite in the background,but it's not as visible.And it has been improved.This is a full mega pixelcamera with an F1.8 aperture.And the selfies, again,they might be improvedbut they're still not great asa dedicated punch out camera.However, the thinking behind the Fold 4is that when you're takingconference calls and thingsthen you can have the display fully openand you can use that under-display camera.But when you want to take regular selfiesyou can just fold it anduse the cover display,which is 10 megapixels.And it's quite similar to the 10 megapixelfront-facing punch out camerathat we have on the Flip 4.But one of the coolest thingsabout both these devicesis that you can usethe rear-facing camerasas front-facing cameras.Giving you much better quality anyway.And these cameras have been improved.So on the Flip 4, we'vegot a 12 mega pixelultra-wide camera whichseems around about the samein terms of the specs,but will be improved,thanks to the new processor,which we'll be talkingabout a little bit later.However, the primary camerahas had a big upgrade.It's a much larger sensor.So you do get 65% brighter pixels.You also have optical image stabilizationas well as VDIS for video.And you also have improvementsfor the cover display.You can switch betweendifferent aspect ratiosfor your selfies, and youcan also get portrait modefrom those rear-facingcameras for your selfies.And this is also theimproved portrait mode.So that's the Flip 4.The Fold 4 now actuallyhas the same triple camerasthat we have on the S22 and the S22+.So these are flagshipcameras, now here on the Fold.Usually we used to getsomething a little bit inferior.Now, of course, they're notgoing to be at the levelof the S22 Ultra, which hasthe periscope zoom, et cetera.I mean, I guess they can'tfit in the periscope zoomon the Fold 4, it's alreadyquite a thick device.Periscope zoom would justmake it even thicker.But having the S22cameras on here is great.We've got a 12 megapixel ultra-wide camera.We've got a 50 mega pixel primary camerawhich is the large size sensor, again.So this is going to give youaround 23% brighter images.And then we've got a 10 megapixel 3X optical zoom camera.On the Fold 3 we had 2X optical zoom.So now you're going to beable to get much closerinto your subjects and youcan go all the way up to 30Xwith digital zoom, whichSamsung calls Space Zoom.And now, thanks to the large size sensoron the primary camera, you can recordup to 8K video on the Fold.So some nice improvementsacross the board for the camerason these devices, inparticular for the Fold.Now in terms of how these camerasperform in the day to day,I'm going to be coveringthis in my full review.So if you want to see those firstbe sure to subscribeand hit that bell icon,so you don't miss that coverage.`Right, now let's talkabout the performanceand what's powering these.You'll be pleased to knowthat we do have the latestand greatest the QualcommSnapdragon 8+ Gen1.Now this means that the chipsin both of these devicesare actually more powerfulthan what we've got onthe flagship S22 Ultra.You're going to get around 10%better CPU and GPU performance,as well as 30% better power efficiency.And for RAM, on the Flip 4 youhave eight gigabytes of RAMand on the Fold 4, youhave 12 gigabytes of RAM.Now that additional RAM on the Fold 4is going to be great for multitasking.And let's talk a little bitabout the software improvements.So with the Fold 4, this isreally meant to be for peoplewho are going to be usingmultiple apps at the same timeand with the new softwareon Android 12 with One UI,you do have a task bar.This is going to be atthe bottom of your displayand it's going to easilyallow you to switchbetween apps like you can do on a desktop,but what's great is that youcan actually have grouped apps.So you can easily just multitaskby pressing and holdingon any of the iconsfrom the task bar and thenjust dropping them on screen.So you can have up to threewindows open at the same time,which can all be launchedwith just one tap.And on top of of that you canalso have a floating window,if you'd like.I mean, that's a bit toomuch for me on a smartphone,but hey, it's there.And lots of apps have also been optimizedto take advantage of that larger display.Samsung's between workingclosely with Microsoft.So if you're especially a business user,I think you're really going to enjoythe multitasking improvementsthat we've got here on the Fold 4.Now on the Flip 4,again, we have lots ofoptimization across apps,in particular apps suchas TikTok and Instagram.So when you do use Flex mode,when the device is kind of folded halfway,you will be able to watch a videoas well as see the comments,especially if it's a live stream.And when you are in Flex modeyou can also use it for content creation.If you want to use it as a bit of a tripodjust sitting there as a camera.And on the Flip 4 you canalso use it like this,like a traditional camcorder,if that's something that you're into.Now Flex mode opens upa lot of possibilitiesand gives you features,which you really cannot geton any other smartphones, right now.Right, now let's talk aboutone of the additional featureson the Fold 4, which you'renot going to get on the Flip 4.Pretty much any of thefoldable apart from the Fold 3and that is support for the S Pen.There are two S Pens that arecompatible with the Fold 4.So it's either the S Pen Prowhich is quite a large S Penor the Fold Edition of the S Pen.Now latency is all the samebut you do have color-coded S Pens too.So if you do get thebeige Fold 4, for example,then you can get it with the beige S Pen.Unfortunately, there isnowhere to actually enclosethe S Pen, like youcan do on the S22 Ultraand previous Note devices.This is still going to besomething that's separate.So you might have to get a caseor something to enclose thator carry that S Pen around with you.But nevertheless, it's niceto have that option there.The S Pen works becauseit's slightly retractableand that's not going todamage that folding display.Right, now let's talk about the batteries.So the Fold 4 has the samesize batteries as last year4,400 milliamps.And it is split across bothof the sides of the device,because it's a foldable.Now, in my experience the Fold3 had excellent battery life.So I can only see that the Fold 4is likely to also have great battery life,especially considering thatwe do have the new chip setthat is more efficient.Now with the Flip 4, we actuallydo have a larger batterycompared to the Flip 3.So it's around 3,700 milliamps,which is great, because the Flip 3in my experience did nothave great battery life.I would start running out of juicetowards the end of the day andthat was quite frustrating.So it's nice to see thatSamsung has addressed this.Given us a bigger battery on the Flip 4and alongside thoseimprovements on the 8+ Gen1,hopefully this will last all day long.I'll let you know, in my full review.And we also haveimprovements for charging.So you do have up to 25 Watts of chargingwhich is going to get you from zero to 50%in around 30 minutes.And we have fast wireless charging.So last year both devices supportedaround 10 Watts of wireless charging.Now these can go up to 15 Watts.Now, unfortunately as last year,chargers are not included out the box.You will have to get them separately.However, there are some pre-order dealswhich will include a charger.So do stay tuned for that.Let's talk about the price now.So the Flip 4 and the Fold 4do start a little bit highercompared to what we had lastyear, here in the UK anyway.So on 50 pounds more.Flip 4 still coming underthat 1000 pounds mark,the Fold 4 coming in around 1,650 pounds.Now that is for the base models.So we do have 128 gigabytesas a base on the Flip 4.On the Fold 4, we've got 256 gigabytesgoing all the way up to one terabyte.So if you're somebodywho likes that storage,that option is there.The Flip 4 goes up to 512 gigabytes.Now Samsung will be giving astarter pack in certain regionswith pre-orders of the Fold 4which will include a 25 Watt chargerthe S Pen Fold Edition, as well as a case.And don't forget,you can get exclusive Samsung creditusing my link down inthe description below,whether you pre-ordera Flip 4 or a Fold 4.So that is the Sampson Galaxy Z Flip 4as well as the Z Fold 4.Overall, incremental updatesbut welcome updates, nevertheless.In terms of my opinions, the
